Is Common-Sense Christian a misnomer? What role does common sense play in the lives of those who follow Christ? Maybe it's time to rely on supernatural sense, given by the Spirit instead.

As you begin this new year in service, know that whatever your plans or God's, you have a sister in Christ to support and encourage you in your work.

Do you avoid reflecting on the year because of personal sins and failures? Even though it's painful, it's important to address the past with God in order to move forward with purpose and strength.
The final prophecy before the voice of the Lord is silent for 400 years. Malachi's word will be heard again, as it is fulfilled in the arrival of the messenger John the Baptist.

Jesus, the One they pierced, was seen by those who witnessed his crucifixion. This is not the last time his scars will set him apart. No, the nations will see him and mourn. When? At his return as conquering King.
What do thirty pieces of silver have to do with a shepherd? They were the wages prophesied by Zechariah centuries before one of his own disciples would take the same amount to betray him.
I am so thankful. This has been an amazing year, and I just want to talk about the goodness of God in my life and give him praise. What are you thankful for?
Without full trust in the Shepherd, the sheep are prone to scatter when the going gets tough. Thankfully, we have a Shepherd who seeks out the lost and is able to bring them back into the fold.
Can we undo the damage we’re causing to the name of Christ by loving without borders or taking the world’s side over that of God’s Word? What will it take for us to jump off the bandwagon of society and reclaim a biblical worldview and witness? Tough Love.
The prophet Haggai and the writer of Hebrews make a connection with all the shaking that's happening in our world today. However, there is a final shaking to come. At that point, there's no turning back. Choose Christ before it's too late.
Being thankful makes an impact for the cause of Christ, not just in our annual celebrations but in our daily words and attitude.
What does the righteousness imparted to us by Christ do? It helps us to live by faith and not by sight. God spoke this truth to Habakkuk and he speaks the same to us today.

Why is life still so hard after choosing to follow Jesus? Why doesn't he take care of all my troubles? Perhaps because we have lessons yet to learn.
What does a tree have to do with a curse? What does a curse have to do with us? The One who hung on the tree for us takes care of both.
Do you feel guilty when you take a vacation from ministry? You shouldn't. Missionaries need time off too.

The writer of Hebrews shows us the importance of remembering that God has a pattern for all we do in life. Just as the tabernacle is a reflection of the heavenly one, we are a reflection of the perfect relationship between God and Christ.
What is one of the lessons I've learned from life in cross-cultural service? I must listen and learn before I can speak and teach.
The writer of Hebrews reveals that just as blood must be shed for the old covenant, the New Covenant in Christ required blood--his own. Unlike that of the first, this sacrifice was a one-and-done for all!
Words behind initials make a difference. I choose today to replace those of DEI to RJE--Righteousness, Justice, and Equity. These words come straight from the book of wisdom and thus from God.
Living by the higher law of Christ seems impossible, especially when facing an enemy. It is. That's why we need the Holy Spirit in us and leave the vengeance to God.
A big lesson I learned on the mission field was the reality check on the source of my confidence. It was painful but needed to know I must shift it from me to Christ.

Do you see the nations when you travel? Are you praying for them? God sees them and longs to make them his own. May we be a light to the nations for his glory.
When Joseph reveals his identity to his brothers in Genesis 45, they quickly realize this is not the same Joseph they earlier hated and sold into slavery. The difference was God.
This life is not the end but a story to be continued. For some, that brings rejoicing but others will mourn. Christ's return will mark the difference.
The one who willingly sold one brother would be the same to offer himself for the life of another. Judah had come a long way, and Genesis 44, shows us just how far.

Just as in childbirth, the sweet reward of thriving in a new culture helps us forget the pain of language learning and adjustment. Mark the moments of progress to encourage yourself and others.
Jesus uses a vivid illustration to remind us that there are some who are not ready to listen to the good news of the kingdom of God. Let him deal with those as you focus on the ones with hearts prepared to receive.
God's power is never simply revealed to prove his power, but to reveal his compassion and mercy.
