It means that we have control and can shape our encounters in the world.

If we focus on threat and negativity - our minds fester with darkness.

If we turn our attention to positive - we fill our lives with love and light.

On this episode of Be Like A Tree Dr Kelly talks with Don Pierce about how nature can help to awaken happiness.

About Don Pierce

Don  has spent nearly his whole life working to protect the environment. After decades of work as a professional environmentalist, Pierce concluded that a new approach––one focused on the environmentalist and not just the environment––was needed.

When famed conservationist David Brower asked him to write "a piece" to show environmentalists how to persevere, the result was a series of books and courses that are good for both environmentalists and anyone seeking happiness and the preservation of nature. The series––the Heartwood Path––helps people to develop spiritually, helps people discover the benefits of communing with nature, and helps people find the abundant, abiding, and authentic happiness that comes from helping others, including natural beings.

Cross your fingers and rest your hands on the nape of your head.
With your thumbs find the little indent and keep your thumbs there.
With your head facing forward, let your eyes travel all the way to the right as far as they can go,
without moving your head.
Hold your eyes in that position for about 60 seconds. Take in deep breath and breathe out slowly.
Then let your eyes go back to the front. Take in what you see there.
Let your eyes, without moving your head, slowly travel to the left as far as they can go.
Hold your eyes to the left for about 60 seconds. Take in deep breath and breathe out slowly.
Then let your eyes travel slowly back to the front and take in what you see.
Slowly release your hands from you head. Your system might like to yawn or sigh at the end of it. That’s a great sign, let it happen. Okay if not. You can do this sitting or laying down.
