Another chance to hear something new while I'm working on the Winter Special, which will be with you in January 2024. Owing to the show's simple format, we basically just talk about it for a bit. Welcome to the latest episode of We're All Stories in the End, and this month's wilderness-era Doctor Who novel is 1993's New Adventure: Birthright by Nigel Robinson.
The Doctor has gone. Ace has vanished. The TARDIS is dying. Bernice is all alone. (For at least the first 109 pages...)
Iain -and Agent Orange- are joined by Dr. Matt Barber (which is probably an anagram of "Master") as well as Kevin, Dylan, David, James, Jason and Liam who all have much to say about this novel (and its importance in the history of Big Finish) and along the way we uncover a mystery we will call... The Grimwade Factor.
Jim Mortimore was, for my money at least, one of the best writers to contribute to the Virgin New Adventures, but let's be honest, his only Eighth Doctor Adventure, Beltempest, is a flawed diamond at best. It seems as if everyone has problems with it, and as you'll hear, they are usually the same problems. But I'm not here to summarise my own show, and you'll just have to listen to it.
This episode I'm joined in the library by my new personal computer/droid Agent Orange, who first appeared in the eBook series Winterhill.

One of the most fondly-regarded of the Virgin Doctor Who: New Adventures books (unless you're the distinctly homophobic fan I tried talking to about the books in Canterbury early in 1997. You were reading Cold Fusion, and you'd given up on the NA's because, and I quote, "it's all about how to get boyfriends now isn't it?")
