The first part of the podcast is about the X2o trophy in Lille. The second last round of the x2o trofee was not an exciting one. The mens race was won by Toon Aerts, and he did so in style. He attacked early in the race and easily dropped the rest. Behind that there was a strong ride by vandeputte which we discuss, aswell as Iserbyt, Vanthourenhout, and the sprint for third.

The womens race was also not exciting. We talk about the easy win of Brand, but also the podiums of Alvarado and Worst. As a lot of the riders that were good today also were good in Maldegem there is quite some overlap. Other riders that get a mention are Schreiber, Gariboldi and Riberolle.

The cyclocross social podcast is back for the 2021-22 season! Today Noah is joined by David Haverdings to talk about his great season after having anorexia, and what he expects at the worldchampionships!

It’s just before the start of the 2020/21 cyclocross season when David begins to feel unwell. He is very tired most of the time and doesn’t feel strong anymore on training. Its something he didn’t expect, because prior to the season he dropped a lot of weight to be in the best condition possible when the season began. However, in his ambition to be as good as possible at the start of the season, he had gone to far. He lost 20kg and was only weighing 50kg, he had anorexia.

He took time off the bike and fully recovered. This year it showed as he won 14/17 races this season. This makes Haverdings the top favorite for the world championships.

In the podcast Haverdings talks about it all, getting anorexia, starting this season, winning races, the European championships, and the worldchampionships. He expects it to be a close race, with multiple riders challenging him for the win.

Today, a special episode of the cyclocross social podcast. In todays episode Noah is joined by 3x world champion Erwin Vervecken, who now works for Golazo. They talk about discuss the reforms of the world cup, and what they mean for the sport.

After retiring from cyclocross, Erwin Vervecken started working for Golazo. He is the sports technical manager there, which means he is involved in organizing races, arranging start contracts with riders and designing courses for the races Golazo organizes. Golazo organizes the X2o Badkamers trofee, the Ethias cross series and the world cup rounds in Namur and Antwerp. The world cup reforms have put these, and other, races under pressure, as it claimed almost all all Sundays between October and the world championships at the end of January.

The datum grabbing, and financial picture, has put a lot of (Belgian) races under pressure. Vervecken discusses why this is, by going into the financial aspect of organizing races. He explains that there is almost no difference in terms of revenue if you organize a world cup or another race.

Vervecken also goes into the internationalization of the sport. He thinks this is good, but that it is happening too fast. He thinks that this could lead to the collapse of the sport if it all goes wrong.

As usual there is time to talk about some other riders in the top 10, like the duo Meeusen Loockx from Hens Maes and Michael Vanthournhout who didnt have a great day.

There was much more to discuss about the womens race, with the win of Clara Honsinger being the main topic of the day. Also attention for the strange news around Alvarado and Worst, who have had strange reports about their injuries.

First, the attention goes to the Mens race, where Pauwels Sauzen once again pulled out the team tactics. What is our stance on that, and could Toon Aerts have done anything different? Also, what could Hermans have done without that crash?

The great ride by Cameron Mason obviously didnt go unnoticed, there is plenty of attention for that aswell!

The womens race then was one for the hisory books. Vas became the second youngest worldcup winner, and the first Hungarian one!! And she did it in style, the hard work put in by Lars Boom looks  to be paying off! Obviously the strong second place by Pieterse gets enough attention aswell, and the same goes fo Burquier who ended 6th here!

But there is more, The 9th place for Persico and the 10th place for Fouquenet are also worth mentioning.

The final part of the podcast is dedicated towards the koppenbergcross of tomorrow, which we take a short look ahead at.

The mens race was and absolute thriller, where 6 riders fought hard for the win. Toon Aerts eventually took the win, but there was a lot to discus about that win. Did Iserbyt gift the win? Could Van der Haar have won? And what was Hermans doing today?

Ofcourse there was more than just the fight for the win, like good performances by Ronhaar and Van Kessel, whilst Kamp and Vandeputte disapointed.

The womens race was not as interesting as the mens race, because Betsema was simply the best, but there was still enough to talk about. For instance the return of Alvarado, the improvement of Brand and the great races by Pieterse, Van Empel and Burquier.

The cyclocross social podcast is back for the 2021-22 cyclocross season! In this episode Noah and Twan talk about the fourth race of the season: The Ethias Cross in Meulebeke!

The mens race in Meulebeke was a different one compared to the weeks before. No Eli Iserbyt win to talk about this time, but a win for his Teammate Michael Vanthourenhout to discuss!

Behind him Aerts fought out a major battle with Sweeck and Hermans for the remaining podium places. We express our opinions on that aswell as on the 5th place of Eli Iserbyt.

Behind that there was a lot of exciting talent ending in the top 10 to talk about.

The womens race was also very exciting. Belgian champion Sanne Cant started her season with a win, but she needed to fight hard for it. Fresh world champion U19 on the road Zoe Backstedt didnt make the life of Cant easy. They fought hard, but ultimately Zoe had to settle for second. Her teammate Schreiber ended third, which is also impressive.
