The Heart of Chat exists to help women who are feeling unfulfilled in life, take inspired action everyday! They will ultimately live a life with joy & intention as they continue to grow from the inside out. Through our personal stories of love, life, dreams, clarity, and self-love we create an experience that inspires change.
We are back this week with a very lively discussion on Humility: Be Humble or NOT. Episode 72 for The Heart of Chat Podcast is one that is near and dear to each of us. How do you know whether to be humble or not? What does being humble actually mean? Yes, there is a such thing as being too humble.
Humility is sometimes taught to us growing up, or we emulate what is around us and what we are being shown. Being humble does not mean living in the shadows and not going after what we want in life. We can be humble and proud at the same time. Pride comes in many forms and one way that we talk about often is celebrating ourselves, our accomplishments, and life in general.
Being our own cheerleaders in life boosts our confidence and we do not need to dim our light or shrink to make others feel comfortable. Now, the saying where there is a time and a place for everything…yes, this is true and we want to make space for other people when they need us so that the facets of being humble or humility does not turn into arrogance our part.
In this episode, we share how you can celebrate yourself; have pride in what you have accomplished all while remaining grounded in the process. Don’t forget to shout from the rooftops all you are proud of and this where being humble or not comes into play.
We are granting you permission to explore whatever you want in your life. Go for it! And guess what? You don’t even need us to grant you permission – you’ve got this! Our episode 71, Giving Yourself Permission to Explore is full of goodies and ways to explore everything your heart desires from your career, to creative explorations, to personal development.
Grab your notebooks and journals and make an #explorationlist with things you want to explore in the next three months. Then, identify the things you want to take action on and make it happen. We offer many suggestions, everything from taking career risks to jumping in a hot air balloon. Now, if you can tell us who wants to do a hot air balloon ride and if you want to do it too, one of The Heart of Chat may do this with you!
With this second episode in our new season, we lay the groundwork for you to get started and now it is time for you to just start! Let’s journey together!

We love what we do! Speaking to each of you about our journey and how our energy is renewed and comes alive each time we record a podcast episode. We renew ourselves with every episode and each time we connect with you. How do you know when you need to re-energize? One way is when you are dragging! We think Jeanette said it best. Everything from your inner peace and reflecting on what you need in your life brings you much-needed, renewed energy. Now back to “how do you know when you need to renew yourself?” Think about what you are missing in your life and at that very moment, are you tired, hungry, not getting enough sleep? Take all of this into account and be sure to check on your inner peace early and often. Renewed energy can come in many forms. Lynda talks about just sitting still on her couch and Shauna uses meditation to help renew herself. Entertainment is another way to renew yourself and you know The Heart of Chat loves entertainment! Celebrating others and ourselves is the focus of this episode on The Power of Celebrating Yourself. Such a fun episode and we drop plenty of gems on how to celebrate yourself, other people, and showing gratitude to those who celebrate you.
We kicked off the episode celebrating Lynda and her family and the accomplishments of her son, Miles. He plays college basketball for Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. They just won the NCAA Division III National Championship in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Jeanette and Shauna shared in Lynda’s excitement and has been following this journey with Lynda over the years. Each of us have on Randolph-Macon shirts in the episode and be sure to watch the video! It is a fun time!
Be sure to celebrate yourself and how can you do this? Everything from writing down your wins for the week, reciting them aloud, and grabbing a friend and kicking off a celebration. Bring the balloons, streamers, confetti – bring it all because you deserve it!

How do you spell Consistency? Con-sistency! That’s how we started this episode, The Power of Consistency. You can already tell how this episode is going to be and wait until you tune in! We talked about everything from being consistent with what you buy, what you watch on television, and of course in your goals.
We touched on structure being a positive thing and we may have to color outside the lines a bit to re-energize our consistency. And guess what? That is perfectly ok! The main goal of getting to a consistent practice is to take action in your life every day. Take a small goal, a small step, and take the action to bring this to reality.

Jeanette is reading Feeding the Soul by Tabatha Brown and she is taking in and applying the actions from the book to her life daily.

The Power of Happiness is our episode 64 this week and we are bringing it to you with lots of laughter while taking a little break to have some fun. Recently on social media, we posted about our happy meter being on 10. Shauna, Lynda, and Jeanette each shared what that post meant to them with Lynda being proud to share the post and the picture to go with it!
Happiness is a choice. You can choose happiness and it is like a fork in the road; where things in your life could go either way depending on how you approach a situation. Checking your happy meter and finding ways to stay present and in touch with how you are feeling on any given day. One big thing with staying on the happiness path is not being stuck in the past. Going with the flow and with ease.
Tune in to hear more and share how you stay on your happiness path. Remember, gratitude is also a big part of walking in your happiness path.

Our Unscripted episodes continue with our first one for this season, Empowerment Session with The Heart of Chat. In episode 63, we are loving on our heartbeats and we share with you some things to think about to empower you to continue to be your best selves. Focus on the small areas of your life, find, and celebrate the wins along the way.
Once you celebrate your wins in every category we must add, narrow your focus at least for now to the small areas of your life that need the most care and feeding. Think about and ponder on two questions: 1) What is your intentional focus? 2) How are you aligned with what you are focusing on?
In this episode, we share and celebrate a few of our wins such as our very first episode, season 1, episode 1. Wow! Thinking back, now looking at the first video, and listening to the episode we thought, “Look how much we’ve grown since then!” Jeanette shared her first podcast, Jean B from 2017 and how much she has grown since that time and what she has learned on her journey.

The Power of Forgiveness & Letting Go is our Episode 62 in our Power Series. We talked through the power of forgiveness and then moved into letting go. When you forgive, things in your life start to lift and you feel lighter. Forgiveness is about you and not the other people in your life. It frees you from being tied to a situation or a circumstance. Growth happens when we take ourselves out of a situation and let go of what is holding us back from moving forward.
Letting go does not mean forgetting what has happened and we speak about the challenges of moving through forgiveness. One of the actionable steps to take is to write down your thoughts and the power of the pen starts with you. Next, process and figure out what it is that is holding you back for forgiving something someone did to you or a situation that happened to you. Reflection is key and doing a periodic self-check-in allows you to see the process through the stages of forgiveness. Give yourself and others grace; it is not a race to the finish. Repeat, and do another check.

The Power of Your Truth speaks volumes in Episode 61 and we do not hold back! We dive into you speaking your truth, owning your truth, and living your truth. There is power in all of this and while doing the inner work, you will discover things about yourself.
We love journaling, there is growth through writing, and feeling the pen to paper makes all of this real! While writing, think about how you want to move in your life and write it down. Writing is also healing which allows you to speak your truth.

The Heart of Chat – Episode 60
Episode 60 has arrived and this week we are discussing The Power of Silence. We dig into this topic by starting with taking a pause and being aware of the conversations and self-talk that we are accepting into our lives. Most times, we need to be quiet for us to hear all that is going on around us. Now of course we aim to speak up for ourselves when we need to and make our voice heard.
We talked about the types of silence and touched on letting go of the super woman cape and raising our hand for everything that comes our way. Being silent and taking our time to fill our cup, there is power in this. A high level of awareness of where you are in life gets you closer to being centered and silent to take action on what you deserve even when insecurities try to creep in to our lives.

The Power of Slowing Down is our Episode 59 this week as we are back from our mid-season break. We are very glad to be back and look forward to your thoughts on this episode as we are now in 2022!
Our go-to, Marco Polo, is where we have many of our conversations and a good number of our episodes were born on Marco Polo. This one is no different! We sometimes (most times) go a mile a minute and do not take the time to stop, relax, and live in the moment. One of the things that got our attention while we were talking about this topic and the episode is a book by Jen Sincero: You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life. As a collective, we started reading this book and discussing it on Marco Polo.
Slowing down requires you to stop and think about what you say to yourself. Things like “I’m trying” and other self-doubt talk must be stricken from our vocabulary. Take time to slow down, take stock in your accomplishments, and celebrate yourself! Meditation, being present in the moment and being intentional with blocking out days for yourself are three things to get you started on your journey. Tune into this episode to hear more and leave your thoughts!
The Power of Gratitude, our Episode 58 this week, focuses on being grateful to yourself and others.Gratitude starts with each one of us and walking the walk of being grateful begins with us. Grab your journal, write it down, and start with three things you are grateful for and focus on those. Then, share with a trusted friend or tribe partner and listen to the things they are grateful for and celebrate each other.
We shared some ideas and things to think about while you walk on your gratitude journey. Grab a jar, and it can be any jar that you love and make it pretty! Get a few pieces of paper and write down something you are grateful for each day. Now Shauna challenged us to do this for a whole year and you can tailor it if you like to do this for 30 days at a time, quarterly, or yearly.
Next, write down words or phrases of affirmations around the things you are grateful for in life. Gratitude is the foundation of joy and in our The Power of Joy episode, we talk about gratitude in detail and it sparks joy in our lives. Remember to celebrate yourself and stay present to enjoy gratifying moments. As Jeanette reminded us, gratitude is an action word. Take action, pause and connect with yourself and again, celebrate you!

This week for Episode 57, we welcome Dr. Jaquinda Jackson of J Consultings, LLC. It is our pleasure to have Dr. Jackson for this episode, The Power of Accountability – Own Your ISH.Dr. Jackson is a licensed professional, Doctor and Counselor focusing on Trauma Work and Education. Over the years, Dr. Jackson shifted her work to trauma therapy and conflict resolutions.
This is a power packed episode and we spoke with Dr. Jackson about everything from adulting to therapy to taking accountability for your actions. We started this episode with the habits we inherited growing up which have shaped us in good or bad ways. Taking responsibility for our actions is the first step in handling situations that come our way. We must stop and think if the situations we are faced with are on us or is it really the other people around us bringing on these challenges in our lives.
One of the calls to action we discussed with Dr. Jackson is to do a self-assessment if you continue to run into the same situations with people. It could be the “you” that is showing up and taking responsibility for your actions.
Tune in to hear more about the power of accountability and how you can take action and continue showing up as your best self.

We continue our Power Series with Episode 56, The Power of Your Words. What we say to ourselves matters and practicing speaking kindly to ourselves helps to shape how we show up. In this episode, we spoke about using our voice and how important this is for growth. We spoke a lot about growth at our Live Tour in Cleveland, Ohio in October 2021.
Our Heartbeats brought up this topic and asked how we are able to show up and do what we do. This comes from speaking courageously to ourselves and to our reflection work. Speaking of reflections, Shauna has a Reflections Series, which she started at the beginning of 2021, and she showed up each day for herself and other people. We also noted in this episode what we are feeding ourselves from external sources also matters.

The Power of Alignment is our Episode 55 this week as we continue our power series this season. This episode is power packed and we talk about inner alignment and how harmony in our lives allows us to adjust and shift towards consistency and walk in our purpose.
Consistency is tied to energy and how we feel each day. Taking the steps to better sleep, more water, fresh air, alone time, and most importantly, who you surround yourself with on a daily basis. Think about when your car is out of alignment. It may pull to the left or to the right depending on what needs to be adjusted.
Shauna started a Reflections series as part of her brand and this focuses on doing the internal work and letting go of things that do not serve you. Being true to yourself and giving yourself grace as you do the work to become aligned or realign your priorities, requires you to take action. This episode was shared to build upon previous episodes:
How to Focus and Stay in Your Lane
Building Your Confidence With Mindset
The Power of No

Episode 54 in our power series is The Power of Connections. Early in this episode, Shauna noted that we must be first connected with ourselves before we can connect on any level with other people. Being connected with yourself allows you to be in tuned with how you show up for yourself and the energy you give to other people.
We each shared stories of how we connected with others and the importance of attracting the right energy and connections. Next steps while connecting with people include face-to-face interactions, phone and video calls, and social media.
The Power of Connections looks different for each person. As you think about and take action on establishing long-lasting connections and relationships, look at how you communicate and invest whole-heartedly in your relationships.
Be sure to meet us right here each Monday and every Monday for our amazing episodes. We strive to bring you content to inspire you to take action and grow from the inside out.
The Power of Joy is our Episode 53 and rounds out our three-part episode miniseries on our words and phrases for 2021. Surrender, flowing with ease, and joy are Jeanette’s, Shauna’s, and Lynda’s words and phrases for this year and we are living and breathing this each day.
In this episode of the power of joy, we talk about the importance of choosing joy and saying yes to yourself. Lynda shared that this is her year of yes and her vision board has “The Power of Joy” in the middle surrounded by all the things that bring her joy. Time magazine debuted this year with several covers depicting joy and how to be intentional when choosing joy in your life.
Finding joy and happiness in everything we do requires us to pause and connect in areas of our life where we are currently, and where we want to be. The goal is not to force anything and surrender to what serves you, flow with ease, and continue your path to joy.
Be sure to meet us right here each Monday and every Monday for our amazing episodes. We strive to bring you content to inspire you to take action and grow from the inside out.
The Power of Flowing With Ease is our Episode 52 this week as we continue our word or phrase of the year series. Flowing With Ease is Shauna’s phrase of the year along with this year being her year of yes. In this episode, we talked about surrendering and flowing with ease into planned and unplanned moments that take place in our lives. Shauna spoke about pivoting, pausing, and connecting with herself and with her inner child to keep moving effortlessly through her life.
We each shared how we are honoring ourselves in this changing season and how we have to release some things and embrace others. Surrendering was a big part of this episode and we need to surrender at times in order to remain in our flow. Our flow could be anything from being creative to changing up our morning routine.
In the midst of flowing with ease, take time to celebrate and honor yourself and release things that no longer serve you.
Be sure to meet us right here each Monday and every Monday for our amazing episodes. We strive to bring you content to inspire you to take action and grow from the inside out.
The Power of Surrender is our Episode 51 this week as we are in the second episode in Season 3, our Power Season. In this episode, we talk about the benefits of surrendering to what is happening in our lives. So where did this topic come from? At the top of 2021, Shauna, Lynda, and Jeanette shared our words for the year and surrender is Jeanette’s word for 2021.
We talk about the benefits of surrendering what this means when it comes to pausing and connecting with yourself when situations are beyond our control. Whether it is family related or personal health, seeking clarity of what surrendering means to you to a first step in being still.
There is power in surrendering and forcing situations like conversations, connections that do not serve you, being at the wrong table – this is what happens when things are forced in our lives. Lynda shared what her father used to say: “If it don’t fit, don’t force it.” No truer words spoken as we try to force everything from relationships to staying in situations that no longer serve us.
Tune in to hear more about the power of surrender and share with us how you feel about this topic.
Welcome to our Season 3 opener, Owning Your Power. We are so excited to be here with you and most importantly, we are super happy you chose to hang in there with us for this beautiful ride. This season is known as our Power Season and we are challenging you to live the life you desire and push yourself for more harmony in your life.
Shauna, Lynda, and Jeanette start with why do not ask for what we want in life. The “we” in this context is women. What is stopping us from reaching our goals? This prevents us from owning our power and we put our power in other people’s hands when we do not stand up for ourselves and ask for what we want in our life.
In this season, we are continuing to bring you more and we help you light your path of courageousness and give you the tools to own your power. Shauna put forth a challenge to our Heartbeats to write down one positive affirmation for seven straight days. Take note of how you feel on day one and on day seven. Share your progress with us and tag us in your response.

Welcome to our Season 2 Finale: High-Key Happy! We are certainly on a high after this last season of many highs, and some lows, but – we definitely ended high-key happy. Each of us shared our high moments and some of our challenges, which has brought us closer to each other and to our heartbeats.
HBO’s Insecure Season 4 inspired the title of this episode. Each of the titles of the episodes began with “low-key something” and we thought, “Why not end on high-key something else?” Packing, unpacking our lives, listening to episodes, road trips to various places played out like a roadmap for our journey this season. From the highs to the lows, we made it through and we could not have done all of this without you!
You kept each of us going while you gave us the grace and strength from your calls, text messages, to liking our posts, and engaging with us on social media. The ways you showed up for us and continue to show up for us, give us energy every day and we are so grateful for you showing us grace and love. We want you to give yourself grace, have fun, and live the life you desire.
Let us know in the comments how you are high-key happy. Thank you, heartbeats for everything you do for us!

Episode 48 this week is Making Subtle Changes Yields Huge Results. We had fun with this episode and it almost was an unscripted! We started talking about how making subtle changes in our lives will yield the best results. And then…someone said the word “cupcake” and that was it!
We started talking about cupcakes and how good they are and noted a few of our favorite places. Georgetown Cupcake in the Washington, DC area is one of our favorites! We will not say “who” started this conversation and when she, @shaunahibbitts (haha!) showed up with a cupcake in our chat, that was all she wrote!
Ok, back to the subject at hand…! We started off with fun and we talked through making small changes in our lives which yield a huge return. Whether that means getting up a few minutes earlier each day or sitting outside for a change of scenery. These small changes allow you to show more of your authentic self and really be in touch with what brings out the best in you. Sometimes we need visual reminders of all the possibilities and changing our habits to be more in tuned to what we love is key.
Check out the recommendations and share with us what some of your favorite cupcake places are. We’d love to hear about them!

Allowing Yourself to be Vulnerable and Making Space for Others is our Episode 47 this week. Like many of our episodes, this one comes from a conversation we had about checking on our strong friends. We all have struggles, right? We shared our experience with this and how our outer appearance makes people think we have it all together, all the time.
In this episode, we touched on being vulnerable and allowing ourselves to be vulnerable in safe spaces. Lynda shared that she struggles with this the most and is doing the work every day to be more open and not holding everything inside. Jeanette chimed in with knowing how to show up for your friends and asking, “How can I support you?” There is fear around being vulnerable and it starts with feeling judged and criticized. How does someone get through this?
Shauna shared more into her Reflection Series over on @shaunahibbitts and how she has been doing this inner work and continuing on her journey. Knowing how to be there for those you care about starts with giving them the time and space to share their wins, challenges, good times, and not so good times. We all need support and it matters how we show up for each other.
Be sure to meet us right here each Monday and every Monday for our amazing episodes. We strive to bring you content to inspire you to take action and grow from the inside out.
This week, we welcome GG Renee Hill of All the Many Layers to the Podcast! Episode 46: Slow Down, Tune In, and Grow. Such an amazing title for this episode and this happens to be the title of GG Renee’s new book.
We were so honored to have GG Renee join us and we began this episode talking about the Self-Care Check-In, GG’s book that she released in 2020. The concept of Reflect, Focus, and Do resonates throughout this book and prompts the reader to think about their self-care practice and take the steps towards healing. This guided journal walks you through step-by-step to build healthy internal habits where you devote time to yourself for each exercise.
Everything from self-care to self-love and taking care of ourselves, we covered it in this amazing episode! GG Renee shared how she has been on her healing journey and how she continues to do the work and share with others through her workshops, books, virtual, and in-person meetups. We each shared about our journey and how we have had to pivot and slow down in some areas, which aligned perfectly with this episode.
Be sure to tune into this episode and find out how we are first-generation storytellers in our families when it comes to sharing our healing practice and journey. GG Renee has touched many lives with her work and she continues to grow and walk in her journey helping more and more people. You don’t want to miss the great conversation!

Well, we love all of our episodes and it is something about going unscripted that really draws us in and, draws you in. Hearing from our Heartbeats and what you like to hear from us is always great and we welcome the comments!
This topic of giving love a second chance took center stage during this episode and shared our top advice for relationships: show love to gain love, communication, and trust. Sharing our stories from our eyes from when we were married the first or the only time is very eye opening and we feel our stories will help other people who want to love again.
Performing an internal assessment of yourself and knowing your threshold of what you will and will not accept in a relationship is a good first step forward. Your level of comfort with giving love a second chance does not look like anyone else’s journey. Stay true to yourself and most importantly, love yourself!
Be sure to tune into this episode for an in depth conversation on giving love a second chance. We love to share our bloopers too and you can tune in via audio and watch us on video on YouTube for our favorite moments. Be sure to meet us right here every Monday, for Meatful Mondays!
Our Unscripted Series continues with Episode 44: Unscripted: Manifest What You Deserve. We love all of our episodes and our unscripted ones seem to bring out Shauna, Lynda, and Jeanette’s personalities. In this episode, we talk about doing the work, taking action, and where manifestation comes in. We each shared the work we put into ourselves, our mental health, our individual businesses, and how the fruits of our labor have come true.
There are other ways you can manifest what you deserve. This includes following your dreams all the way to your purpose and taking action along the way. Shauna, Lynda, and Jeanette’s stories include going from blogger to writer, recording videos to speaking in front of hundreds of people, to taking action towards a full-service media organization.
We would love to hear from you the work you have put in and how you are manifesting what you deserve. Share with us by responding to our email, commenting on social media, or connecting with us at our live events. Also, be sure to meet us right here every Monday, for Meatful Mondays!
Welcome to Episode 43: Real Parent/Child Connections with Maddie. We enjoyed talking to Maddie about her connection with her mom, Lynda. Shauna, Lynda, and Jeanette agree that making connections early with your child and building trust is the recipe for beautiful relationships with your children.
Shauna is our Inner Child Whisperer and she shares her perspective on building relationships with your children and communication being the key. All three of us have young adult children and Jeanette and Lynda have younger children including teenagers and younger children. Building trust early and meeting your children where they are helps with respect and mutual respect, as they get older.
Maddie gave some great tips on how she connects with her mom and her dad. We talked about being a daddy’s girl and a mom’s favorite. Maddie tells other young people to talk to their parents and go to them with ups and downs that they may be experiencing.
Watch us on YouTube for our favorite moments including Maddie having fun at an alternate location while recording this episode! Maddie graciously joined us for the recording of this episode while attending a STEM Academy. We wish her well as we share her excitement for this amazing opportunity.

Happy Anniversary to The Heart of Chat! Here we are at Episode 40 and we are thrilled beyond measure that we are here, and our Heartbeats are with us. During this anniversary episode for our first year as The Heart of Chat, we celebrate each other, the bond that we have formed, and we celebrate those who have been with us showing love and support along the way.
As Shauna, Lynda, and Jeanette walked down memory lane, we shared our favorite moments and some podcast bloopers, which will surely have you cracking up laughing! We shared how we began as a mastermind group and each of us shared our favorite episodes of the season. Everything from the 500 downloads party in Episode 17: Party Podcast: Ignite Your Fuego to the siblings’ episode where we had Shauna and Jeanette’s siblings join us for a fun episode and a little trivia.
The bloopers were the best as we recalled some of those – like Lynda drawing a blank for the giveaway at our live party episode and Shauna’s connection chronicles! We love all of this so much and because of you, we are here at one year as The Heart of Chat.
We also shared moments when we had to pivot, pause, and pour into ourselves and ironically, we had an episode on this very topic in Season 1: Episode 15: Pivot Pause Pour and Put You First. There were times where we were resilient and had to pivot, pause, and take time for ourselves to be present with what life was giving to us at this time.
There are so many moments to share and reflect on from this first year. Be sure to tune into this episode and every episode and meet us right here every Monday, for Meatful Mondays!

Letting Go of Perfection is our Episode 37 and the definition of perfection is different for each person. How do you define perfection? Do you have your own definition or does the quest for perfection run in your family? These are a few of the questions Shauna, Lynda, and Jeanette answered in this episode. We talked very candidly about the struggles and pressures around being perfect and how you have to let life flow in order to meet our needs and challenges.
Perform an assessment of yourself and figure out are you being perfect for yourself or other people. Give yourself grace, dismiss the fear of missing out, and learn to pivot. You will ultimately arrive on the path you are destined for in your life. Being present with where you are right now allows you to create and establish good habits. Your Best Option is You is our Episode 36 this week and we started in an unscripted way! We chose ourselves and fun, which is first and foremost. If you are not having fun, then what are you doing? Well, we brought back a quick segment from Season 1; our Entertainment Talk and started talking about movies. One of Lynda’s favorites, “My Cousin Vinny” came up in the conversation and we had a blast talking about this movie. This 1990s hit brought back memories for each of us.
Now, onto the episode where we discussed choosing yourself and knowing your best option is you. Happiness is the center of everything we do and remaining happy takes work on your part. Setting boundaries, good rest and relaxation, and taking care of your mental health are the key points we shared.
Take some time today and this week and draw a circle with the word Happiness in the center of circle. Draw a few lines from the circle and write down the areas closest to the center of the circle where you are choosing yourself the most. For the lines, words, and phrases furthest away from the center of the circle, these are areas where you can continue to work to be your best self and always choose you.
