Learn about the transformation of the psyche from the butterfly
Some of the greatest lessons we can learn are taught to us in the simplicity of nature. This is the story of The Butterfly and how the Butterfly teaches us about the change that can take place deep in the psyche.
The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous states that “a complete psychic change” is needed for sobriety. This means you have to completely adjust how you respond emotionally when facing difficulties, which will allow you to make better decisions about how you handle things going forward. I don’t think it is alcoholics alone that need this revelation, but it is me. And you.

Carl Jung said ''Looking outwards has got to be turned into looking into oneself. Discovering yourself provides you with all you are, were meant to be, and all you are living from and for.” Know your temperament. Your strengths, strengths that become weaknesses, and keys to getting the best out of yourself or another Melancholic you might know. The four temperament theory is a proto-psychological theory that suggests that there are four fundamental personality types: sanguine, choleric, melancholic, and phlegmatic There is the possibility of mixtures among the types where they share two or more temperaments and temperaments can overlap. In this episode, John Sparks who has been counseling for over 50 years and using the understanding of temperaments to help people discusses the basics of temperaments. Helping people doesn't need to be complicated.
A few principles help as an outline to help others. Like the weed that has many leaves and branches off but one long root, so is a problem that seems complex but really has a simpler root.
-Understanding the person's nature
-Understanding how nurture has affected them
-Understanding how their nature has responded to events in their lives and what choices they have made.
Understand Introverts responses
Melancholic - Who gets into an emotional muddle
Phlegmatic - Who switches off to life and situations.
Emotions are incredibly powerful. Brilliant servants but terrible masters. Emotions are God-given and make life worthwhile. They are how we connect with one another. Our emotions can be ''fallen'' where fear resides deep within, but God's perfect love can drive out fear.
We can be restored. Our emotions can be sanctified, renewed so they become good servants and not bad masters. This restoration is the message of the gospel.

“Self-pity is spiritual suicide. It is an indefensible self-mutilation of the soul.” Transcend your victim mindset“Help” doesn’t help when it panders to our natural negativity instead of helping us transcend it. ― Anthon St. Maarten

Swiss Psychologist Paul Tournier said ‘’At the heart of personality is the need to feel a sense of being loveable without having to qualify for that acceptance.’’ Shealan explores the lifestyles we choose and the identities we take on that are not truly us to try to gain acceptance and love from others, which leads to shallow living. The labels, the cultural context, and the spirit of this age that we need to be renewed from, break free from and transform ourselves from. Each of us must transform from the worm of shallow living, break the cocoon of wrong mindsets, and become the winged beauty of who we truly are at our core. It is when we live from our core that we are then able to have deeper relationships with others.

There is a whole different way to live! You may not have learned how to handle the pain of life growing up. A lot of us are not equipped to handle our emotions in life, in relationships, and in marriage. We all have an introvert, and learning to live from that place and deal with residual emotions and current emotions is key. In this episode, Shealan and John Sparkes discuss how and why to live from a deeper place which is called the introvert.
Shealan has a frank chat with Rae who runs Wiildhearts. An honest chat about not feeling welcome in church, surrender to God and falling down but getting back up and going back to Jesus who is always welcoming us back with wide open arms. Shealan shares her struggle with coming across as too blunt but Rae encourages her.
A new branch of conversations and dialogue on the Grow your Dreams Podcast. Shealan shares about how expectations on life and people can leave you feeling disappointed, while Hope is a relational process with God that is a rope to hold onto. VALUES, HOPE, AND EXPECTATIONS are the theme of today's talk.
