EXISTENCE EXISTS: Recent Episodes

Edith Hayz

Me and Elvira (but mostly me, I’m Edith) do random things which should hopefully be entertaining and also factual and interesting for mainly older children (some SLIGHTLY mature themes e.g sexuality (as in like gay and bi,but if younger children want to listen please explain this to them) Anyone can listen and we try to make it kinda diverse too. We Do:Music (covers+originals), Stories+poems (retellings+originals), talk segments and reviews. All of this and more coming soon! Edit: I am now mainly a music channel and for the time being work alone

Falling leaves is an extended metaphor and an anti-war poem. I couldn’t remember this in the episode but it was written by Margret Postgate-Cole who was fighting against conscription (mandatory enrollment in the armed forces) War is something to be taken seriously and not to be supported, I may be looking at more poetry on this topic but I do not want anyone to think I am pro-war or encourage violence.

Elvira (who is FINALLY back) and I made up some kind of story. I think it’s about a spirit living in a sand castle who really wants to go to Asda but we recorded this literally 4 months ago today and I finally remembered to publish this. Enjoy.

This is a song about a lesbian girl, she is trying to come to terms with her sexuality but feels pressured to be what is often idealised to be “perfect”. She continues to deny this fact over and over, trying to convince herself she is not gay. This song was originally written by Joriah Kwamé, however it was sung by Taylor Louderman, Taylor most often gets credit for writing this and I would like to acknowledge that though she provides the incredible vocals (please listen to them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhZIikh-z7g) If you are listening to this with your child, I would recommend explaining the meaning of the song to them, as it can be quite confusing, especially if they are young. This song has also been heavily associated with the owl house fandom (specifically the lumity ship Luz x Amity) , which I myself am a part of (this is where the cover art came from if anyone is confused)hope you enjoy my rendition of this beautiful song!
