The reason we started this podcast is because we always found ourselves diving into deep conversation, no matter what topic started the conversation. We decided that with this podcast, we didn't care if we have 100 listeners or 1, we wanted to share our thoughts in hopes that it inspires and connects with others. We wanted to help others cultivate these conversations with the people closest to them and ultimately help them find their ikigai. Doing this, we also joked that maybe, this podcast may help us find our ikigai as well. We are people who love to learn and grow from everything we consume and this episode shows that. Thank you all for tuning in and sharing feedback on how you have connected with these episodes. We look forward to creating season 2 & sharing it with you all. Til then
In this episode, we pick up where we left off in episode 6. We come full circle in discussing how we cope with death and honor those who have passed by the way we live after they're gone. Throughout our discussion, we share our opinions about healthy coping & the importance of doing things with intention.ย If you have any questions or want to get in touch with us, feel free to DM us on instagram @eekiguys
Death is a subject that is usually swept under the rug. In many cultures, death is taboo & talking about the dead will "call upon the supernatural" or planning for death will somehow bring your time-to-an-end faster.ย Because of this, death is not really discussed in households, hence coping with something that is part of nature has never been taken "natural." With such great loss, people end up not being able to handle death in a positive manner & begin a major shift in life, which may become an underlying factor to their unhappiness & decline in quality of life.ย
In this episode, we want to share our experiences in how we can positively cope with death. From losing a parent, to a best friend, to father figures and mentors; we revisit losing those who we hold dear & give light to how we process, regain strength, accept & move forwardย in navigating our world with a new sense of hope.ย We dedicate this not only to those who have paved the way, but for those who are left behind to still experience this world. We hope this brings light, hope & a sense of direction during your time of loss.
Happiness, what is it? This topic was inspired by the Simon Pegg movie, "Hector and the Search for Happiness." In the movie, a psychiatrist feels that he is a fraud to his clients because while he's trying to help them live happier lives, he isn't happy in his own shoes. He decides to travel the world in the search for happiness & comes to see where it really stems from.ย Throughout this episode, we discuss our view on what happiness is, share insights on how to find it, and where we stand today on our search for happiness.ย
In this episode, we discuss the world's current state when it comes to sense of humor. From comedians, to TV shows and movies, to your friend saying a joke about race or religion; where do we draw the line? How do we know if we're being offensive? The saying goes, "there is a grain of truth in every joke." Maybe people are too sensitive and the truth hurts that much? But on the other hand, there are people who go way past the line. What we come to figure out is it all depends on the why. Why are these jokes being made? Let's figure it out together.
Why are there people who are extremely athletic, but aren't professional athletes? Why is there a band that is talented, but only plays local gigs and isn't touring the world? Isn't this what they're supposed to do? As we grow, we find ourselves on this journey to find our reason of being (ikigai). We come across many interests that are introduced to us through different mediums. Some we stick with while letting others go, even if we're good at it, why? In this episode, we dive into the discussion of interest vs. commitment with our first guest & dear friend, Ines.
It's a very interesting topic that has us think about what we're interested in, what we're committed to & why. Life is our journey to travel and if you're stuck in deciding what you're supposed to do, we hope this episode helps shed some light & guides you in the direction meant for you.
During this episode we talk about human potential, diving into the question, "what's your best version of yourself?" Dan Eric coaches & questions Eric Randall that have him learn more about his eekiguy counterpart.
We also dive into The Social Dilemma, a Netflix documentary on the dangers of social media & how people use it.ย We provide examples from our experiences, what we have seen from the company we keep, the people and youth we have worked with, & how the effects we see social media has on the world.

In this episode, we discuss attachment vs. detachment. What does it really mean to be attached to an idea, person, or thing? Does detaching mean we don't love it anymore?ย
We're both BIG fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender & were inspired to record this topic because an episode named "The Guru" (S2E19).
