In this episode, Gerry sits down with rapper Hooper James, an artist whose blend of sharp lyricism, emotional honesty, and relentless work ethic has carved out a lane entirely his own. Hooper talks about the experiences that shaped his voice, the creative risks that pushed him forward, and the personal battles that made him rethink what success really means.
They dive into the writing process, the realities of independent artistry, the moments that nearly broke him, and the ones that reminded him why he started. Hooper brings humor, vulnerability, and a clear sense of purpose — making this conversation as inspiring as it is entertaining.
If you’re into music, creativity, or stories about building a life around what you love, this episode hits all the right notes.
We hope you enjoy this episode. If you do, please feel free to send us a comment in the "Fan Mail" section of this site!

Some stories don’t just entertain you — they pull you under, hold you still, and remind you of the parts of yourself you’ve forgotten. In this episode, I sit down with N.R.G. Selove, an author whose worlds feel both mythic and intimate, stitched together with the kind of emotional truth that stays with you long after the final page.
Selove talks about the spark behind their latest book “Heist of the Assassin and the Sorceress” — the moment a character whispered instead of shouted, the scene that arrived like a lightning strike, the theme that wouldn’t let go. We explore the shadows and the light, the childhood echoes that shaped their imagination, and the quiet courage it takes to write stories that ask big, human questions.
This conversation is raw, reflective, and charged with creative electricity. If you’ve ever wondered how a writer turns their inner world into something that moves strangers… or if you’re simply craving a story that hits you in the chest… this is the episode you’ll want to sit with.
Press play. Let yourself get pulled in.

Every once is a while a band comes along that doesn't just survive the times, they outsmart them and somehow stay beautifully unpredictable along the way. The Mekons have been doing exactly that for decades, bending genres, rewriting their own rules and proving that punk energy can age into something without losing its bite!
On this episode we talk to Sally Timms, a member of the Mekons band. We talk about the history of the band over the last 50 years, the new record due out in June of 2026 and the upcoming tour! We also play two songs from the band. We know you will enjoy listening to this episode.
