Worldviews is a podcast that seeks to find harmony between the proposals of science and the teachings of the Bible. On our journey, we will discuss many topics from anthropology, philosophy, theology and science. Welcome to Worldviews.
Modern-day scientists and philosophers are coming to the near-unanimous conclusion that people do not have immortal souls that contain our consciousness and memories. Does this go against the Bible? The earliest written records we have show that for a very long time, people have believed that we have souls or spirits in us that are able to survive death. Most all world religions still believe this to be true. But things are changing. Recent brain research indicates that the perception that we have of souls is really just an illusion. Most philosophers today have made a big switch away from the belief in souls. Even some theologians are starting to cast doubt on the idea of immortal souls. Is it time to take another look?
Evangelists of the theory of evolution declare that there is so much evidence for evolution that it should no longer be called a theory but a fact. In this vodcast, we make the case that while there is plenty of evidence for small changes and adaptations, there is very little good evidence for naturalistic evolution that makes the big jumps from nothing, to microbial life to complex life forms, including man.
