Charles Spurgeon once said that the "study of the Psalms has yielded me boundless profit and ever-growing pleasure." And yet, today, many churches avoid singing the Psalms. Shane Heilman is an exception. The leader of The Psalms Project, Shane is about the business of setting all 150 Psalms to modern music. And, most importantly, he refuses to "sanitize" the Psalms. Even the imprecatory psalms are meant to be sung by God's people. On this episode of The Lancaster Patriot Podcast, Chris Hume discusses the psalms with Shane. An Amish farmer was recently raided, some of his property was seized, and hundreds of his products were "detained" in place, making it "illegal" to move them. Pennsylvania State Rep. Dave Zimmerman recently released a video interview he did with Sec. Russell Reading, the head of the Pa. Dept. of Agriculture. Zimmerman did not publicly oppose the tyranny of the state's department of agriculture, nor did he voice strong support for Amos Miller and food freedom. John MacArthur said it was an “easy call” to shut down the assembly of the saints. Paradoxically, he also claimed that the assembly of the saints is “the most essential of all things.” Then, for months, MacArthur sent a message to his church (and the watching world) that the church was closed. Strangely, some are denying that MacArthur shut down the church. For example, one person wrote, “They never shut down.” Why are people whitewashing the past? Additionally, MacArthur (and hundreds of pastors like him) has not repented of his actions in scattering the sheep. In this episode of The Lancaster Patriot Podcast, Chris Hume provides the truth about MacArthur and the suspension of the assembly of the saints. In 2020, many Christian leaders suspended the assembly of the saints. Notable pastors who supported such decisions include John MacArthur and W. Robert Godfrey. MacArthur said it was an "easy call" to listen to the government and suspend worship. In this episode of The Lancaster Patriot Podcast, local pastor Joel Saint joins Chris Hume to discuss the latest developments surrounding the Lititz Pride Fest.

A Pennsylvania man was recently arrested for standing on a public sidewalk (across the street from a pride event) and quoting a portion of 1 Corinthians 14:33. The entire incident was filmed by Matthew Wear and that video clip has gone viral. Damon Atkins was facing charges of "disorderly conduct" prior to the Berks County District Attorney's Office announcing on June 7 that all charges have been dropped. In this episode of The Lancaster Patriot, local pastor Joel Saint and street preacher Matthew Wear join managing editor Chris Hume to discuss the incident and consider the Christian's duty to proclaim the gospel, even amid a hostile culture.

The president of Uganda recently signed a bill into law that would penalize homosexual acts with life imprisonment and "aggravated homosexuality" (i.e., homosexual rape) with a maximum sentence of death. The international community is calling it a gross violation of civil rights, and Ted Cruz says the law is "horrific," but the people of Uganda are happy their children will be protected from homosexuality. On this episode of The Lancaster Patriot Podcast, Joel Saint joins Chris Hume to discuss Uganda's Anti-Homosexuality Act of 2023.

The Lancaster County Commissions recently proclaimed May 2023 to be "Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month." The proclamation included a recognition that various pagan religious celebrations are beneficial for the greater community. During public comments, Commissioner Parsons called the Hindu celebration Diwali "awesome." At the same time, the proclamation highlighted an Asian-American and former resident of Lancaster County, one Mr. Hong Noek Woo (1834-1919). However, perhaps unbeknownst to the commissioners, Woo dedicated his life to a mission which flies directly in the face of their proclamation: he brought the gospel to China and sought to radically abolish the pagan culture (with its religious idols and ceremonies) and replace it, not with "American culture," but with Christian culture. In this episode of The Lancaster Patriot podcast, local pastor Joel Saint joins Chris Hume to discuss the commissioners' proclamation and Mr. Woo's dedication to changing, not accepting, Chinese culture.

A school district in eastern Pennsylvania approved the request from The Satanic Temple for the use of a room in the school for an after hours Satan Club. What followed was, in the words of the district's superintendent, "chaos." Following an avalanche of parental complaints and a school shooting threat, the district rescinded their previous approval. Legal action followed, and a federal judge recently ruled that the school must in fact allow the group to use the school's facilities. On this episode of The Lancaster Patriot Podcast, Joel Saint joins Chris Hume to discuss this story and the chaos that follows when Christ is rejected as Lord.

In June 2022, Lititz Chooses Love hosted a pride festival in Lititz Springs Park that the owners of the park (Lititz Moravian Church) later deemed “grossly inappropriate.” On the day of the festival, local Pastor Joel Saint (Independence Reformed Bible Church) led an outreach of over a dozen men to share the truth with the attendees of the homosexual pride event. In early 2023, the Lititz Moravian Church board instructed the Lititz Springs Park board to reject Lititz Chooses Love’s request to hold the event in 2023. The park board defied that instruction and issued a contract anyway. On this episode of The Lancaster Patriot Podcast, Pastor Joel joins Chris Hume to discuss the 2022 outreach and the plans for the 2023 pride fests that are scheduled for Lancaster County. Local pastor Joel Saint joins The Lancaster Patriot's Chris Hume to discuss the issue of driver's licenses, vehicle registrations, and insurance. Is the civil government authorized by Christ to punish someone for driving down the road without causing any harm, nor breaking any moral laws? The modern, humanistic mind says yes. The Bible provides a different answer. If the Bible only authorizes the civil government to punish evil (cf. Romans 13:3; 1 Peter 2:14), why has the American mind granted the government the authority to control who drives on the roads? Listen to this episode of The Lancaster Patriot podcast for an important look at the freedom to travel. In 2020, Gabe Rench was arrested for refusing to wear a mask at an outdoor Psalm-singing event in Moscow, Idaho. Rench was acquitted in his criminal case shortly thereafter, and Rench sued the City of Moscow for their actions against him. Finally, over two years later, a United States District judge has ruled in favor of Rench. According to a press release, Rench was pleased with the outcome: “Yes, this is a constitutional victory for Idahoans, but it is also a showcase of how dumb petty, tyrannical mayors and unelected city officials can be, and where they end up when abused citizens have the endurance to fight back and defend their rights.” In this episode of The Lancaster Patriot podcast, Rench joins The Lancaster Patriot managing editor Chris Hume to discuss the case, the need for righteous magistrates, and the importance of Christian community.
