- “The only true freedom that I could find was in the Lord!”
- All our choices tend to be around: OUR FEARS, OUR DESIRES or OUR NEEDS.
- Watching living testimonies builds our faith.
- We can make it through unthinkable circumstances as He gives us what we need one day at a time.

- “The created owes everything to the Creator!”
- We can be poor financially yet so rich in love and faith.
- Just like an etch-a-sketch, we are limited and can only make “squares and stairs” but God, as Creator, created us each a beautiful masterpiece.
- Give the Lord control of the driver's seat of life.
- Remember that a parents faith is contagious.
- His Word defines our identity and directs our destiny.
- Only God, as creator and designer, has the authority to create, design and give identity.

When we are in a tragedy, ASK GOD for the “take-aways!” 2. God’s promises to carry us through our tragedies…in Isaiah. 3. Vonette Bright: “The fact that God has me living means He still has something left for me to do” 4. Pray continually! 5. Dream about fun things to start later (like being in a pageant at 60 years old)! 6. “What God brings us to….He equips us for!” 7. Tragedy can be many things like divorce, death, teens rebelling, debt, etc. 8. When unsure don’t forget to SEEK, ASK and KNOCK!!! 9. Learn the habit to pray about everything and anything…even the smallest things! 10. Don’t confuse unanswered prayer with unheard prayers.

Navigating Transitions
- Transitions are inevitable
- Transitions are a place of faith as you are not where you were and not yet where you are going to be!
- Benefits looking back:
- Felt my neediness for Him to lead, guide and direct me!
- Forced me to “wait on God” and learn what that looks like
- Opportunity for my faith to be tested and my unbelief to be exposed.
- Clarifies our illusion of control.
- Brings space for God to do miracles and show His grace.

Learned the value of finding someone to “walk through it with you”

He is the thread through all of our transitions
- His presence is the promise!
- God is always WITH you and FOR you and cannot FORSAKE you.
- Life coaching can help you sort out all the things!
- Whatever “IT” is, 100% of the time, IT is temporary. So put your eyes on God, your constant and solid ground.
- Focus on God through:
- Studying His Word
- Having a Secret Time with Him
- Answering His invitation to come unto Him
- Being purposeful in worship
- Making visual reminders of His presence or His Word
- Stating “I am” statements agreeing with your identity in Christ and who He says you are
- Being still … and simply meditating on truth
- Slowing down your life and your breathing.
- Realizing that God is working and that there is a greater purpose ahead.
- Remember HIs faithfulness across time…write it down, memorize scripture, gratitude journal, stones of remembrance.

- Felt the “Spirit of Rejection” early in life but was unaware of it.
- Kept chasing titles and awards on the performance treadmill. Had a way of overdoing it.
- We can be surrounded by a million people and yet feel so quietly lonely!
- Deep friendships make you better.
- When we finally have an answer to our “issues” we are better able to deal with it.
- Do you have a quiet hurt? Are you seeking the approval of others? Are you “Much Afraid?”
- LOVE WITH A FULL HEART! You cannot love enough! Genuine love.
- We don’t want to be judged therefore we must not judge another.
- Seek a few deep relationships versus many shallow acquaintances. That is where we make and receive the most impact.
- When you have a DEEP relationship, be very intentional to protect it.
- Real relationships are hard.
- Be curious about people to open a conversation…maybe “Tell me your story?”
- The healthier we are, the more honest and authentic we become.
- As a young person…..figure out your faith. Get on your knees, by faith, and seek the answer to your deepest needs.

- Give people GRACE!
- Our “eccentricity” or whatever makes us different, can actually be the thing that inspires others.
- Don’t imitate others. Live in your own authenticity.

- Diversity is beautiful in the body of Christ…..not to be divisive.

- God know the deep desires of our hearts.
- Influenced by watching her Grandmother read her Bible daily and journal.
- God is always at the end of the connective piece of rope between us.
- He knocks at the door of our hearts and is always there, waiting and available.
- PSTD and survivor guilt impacted her husband (received purple heart) and their marriage.
- We often worry more when “not knowing”, and would rather just hear the truth to start sorting it out.
- With serious PSTD, we all need counselors to help with wisdom to build a bridge through healing. You cannot do it on your own. Invite God into the healing journey.
- We have to love more and greater through difficult circumstances. Love is so healing.
- Be grateful….focus on what you DO have and not on what you DON’T have.
- Life is deeper and richer when you let go and live with OPEN HANDS.
- Always pray for strength of heart, courage and inspiration. This will lead you to less worry.

- We have a LIVING GOD…communicate with Him. Have God conversations
- Tears are often a balm for us….don’t be afraid to cry and let it out.
- Connect with those who grieve and don’t be afraid when they cry.
- As a single, you are never doing “life alone” as He is always waiting for us to enter into a greater relationship with Him.
- Come before God being HEARTfelt and not your HEADfelt.
- It takes adversity to really humble yourself.
- As seniors in life, we have more passion and wisdom to help others.
- There is no law against the “Fruits of the Spirit”.
- Find or create a SECRET SPACE to enter into a relationship with God.
- Stuff/thoughts often get in the way of spending time in our SECRET PLACE…as we have an enemy that does not want us to make this connection. STAY FOCUSED.
- Our kids each, as they grow older, must navigate and CHOOSE their faith.
- Don’t give up seeking God. He is there all the time and wants to be found. We search for PEACE but HE is our PEACE and available always. CHOOSE!

- Listen….Follow….Trust (even when not completely sure).
- If you are parenting a teen in a dark tunnel - keep your eyes focused on the LIGHT at the end of the tunnel.
- Volunteering for and serving others builds our own souls.
- The habit of gratitude changes things. Focus on thankfulness.
- After healing and recovery…..”God didn’t save your life because you needed another day but because someone else needed to hear what you have to say.”

- Worship is our greatest weapon of warfare!
- Be hungry for more, cry out. He is willing to show us “great and mighty things” (Jer 33:3)
- Have the faith to praise and thank God amidst it all
- Know that we are victorious as we have a covenant of victory.
- Try worship dancing as it is good for your soul.
- Life is all about mindset and ATTITUDE…casting down wrong thoughts!
- We must walk by our faith and not by our sight.
- God gives us good gifts and not the cheap ones like those found in a Crackerjack box.
- Praise is such a practical tool for freedom!
- We must choose to stop whining and start praising… It is our decision to make!
- Keep your mind renewed by Truths found in scripture.
- The Word has 6000+ promises…if you do not study the Word then you cannot know the benefits of Christianity.
- Seek the Lord at a young age (Eccl 12:1). Be a leader and not a follower.

- Self reflection can be a huge teacher.
- Common issues with mothers and daughters:~Daughters get older they decide that they are the mom~Mom’s not letting go of a grown adult daughter~Both giving unsolicited advice~Both using the word “should” with one another
- Relationships matter!
- Social nedia has affected relationships as well as mental health!

- Knowing our children and gifted to us as an assignment seems to make the mundane HOLY!
- The spirit of perfection is not to “be perfect” but it is accepting His kind invitation to the fullness of our identity in Christ which He died to give us.

- He says my YOKE is easy and light. EASE is a marker and heaviness is an indicator. If life is a huge struggle, step back and evaluate.

- When we are sitting “everyday …next to Him…Face-to-face” then comparison, anxiety, depression etc must bow at the feet of Jesus!

- Raised going to church but didn’t know that God could actually speak to us.
- Wreckless living in college after my brother died…partying till blackout…then came to a place to “bow the knee to the living God!”
- We can be handed over to the destruction of our flesh so that our spirit might be saved….1 Cor 5:5.
- Cindy became incredibly hungry for His Word. Word for the “pearls to start braiding my necklace.”
- Be intentional and purposeful to be in the Word….His Words!
- Moms need to find and highlight the “giftings/drives/passions” in our kids as from the Lord. Help them see and launch such.
- “I have given you the desires of your heart that you don’t even know that you have yet!”
- When difficulties happen we often cry out “WHY?”..ask the Lord “What do you want me to learn from this place that I am in?”
- What a lesson to learn to praise God out of sheer obedience especially when you are in “the STORM.”
- God is weaving a beautiful tapestry with your life even if you only see the raw strings behind the mess.
- PRAISE is our “medicine” in the YUCK of life….”a merry heart does good like medicine.”
- You can choose the resource of HIS STRENGTH when you are weak.
- He wants to clear all bitterness out of our hearts before we can often move forward.
- Don’t get into the trap of “running with the culture” through comparison. Instead play, enjoy, pant a garden, get outside!!!
- Moms need to be IN TUNE with our kids “behavior modification “ vs “Heart issues/condition”

· Not all family crisis cases come through CPS
· People can seem “nosey” for good or bad reasons so develop your “stock” answer for their questions so that you will not be caught off guard and frustrated.
· Grandparents Raiding Grandchildren (GRG) can be a very FRAGILE situation coming out of precipitating events that are usually not good.
· Often GRG can come from a very short notice such as “if you can’t take these kids, they will go into foster care.”
· It usually starts as temporary with reunification as the goal
· Often busyness can put GRG on auto-pilot every day
· Knowledge of the system is power. Learn all that you can!
· Give yourself the grace to grow and learn…together with your spouse.
· Discuss “How are we going to let this affect our marriage?”
· Imperative to learn to navigate all the new emotions that come with GRG.
· Find an outlet! And give yourself permission!!!

- Life can be difficult and you simply must roll up your sleeves and get to work on the HARD. (Her 4 brothers went to serve in WWII and she and her sister were relegated to running the family farm)
- Grateful to be from a family of DEEP convictions. Do we have deep convictions?
- God uses all things!….ie: the strong hands that came from milking cows helped her basketball career where she ended up with a college scholarship and the title of All American.
- God use every difficulty to teach you something worthwhile.
- Hard work helped her to pay her way through college.
- Her family stressed education and the need to pay your way through life so that you would gain the most from it.
- The poor behavior of professing Christians can make baby Christians stumble and withdraw from the faith.
- Conversely, the behavior of Christians can open the eyes of others to believe in the faithfulness and presence of God.
- Tithing BY FAITH is always rewarded. Tithe first. Pay bills afterwards.·
- They practiced a “family altar” time every Sunday evening where the family read the word together and prayed together. Foundation of their family of faith.
- Nita and her husband, Lee, always prayed together as a foundation of their lifelong marriage.
- Christains need to set a good example.
- Treat ALL people the same no matter what! Never discriminate.
- Reach out to those in need. It is a beautiful Christian testimony.
- When people change their hearts, they will change their choices!

- It is OKAY to ask for help…to be human…to break down…but don’t go it alone…Let go and Let God lead…. maybe call a friend… and reach out for help.

- Surrender is a gift that you can give yourself.
- Pray His promises back to Him.

- The curse of “expectations''....if you get what you expected, then you are not grateful. If you do not get what you expected, then you are disappointed. It is a lose-lose scenario.
- We must remember that God knows us, loves us and has a Sovereign plan for use even when we are amidst confusing and irritating things….especially when you cannot “fix others or issues”
- Difficult things draw us to God.
- We can choose, by faith, to give thanks because we know and trust that God is good, that He loves us and that He is Sovereign.
- We often consider circumstances as GOOD or BAD when a better definition would be HARD vs EASY.
- Rom 8:28 invites us to GIVE thanks even if we don’t FEEL thankful….as it is an act of the WILL and not our EMOTIONS.
- Emotions are not reliable. We often have to choose from our WILL.
- Remember to look back at the faithful hand of God. Hindsight can bring wisdom.
- “Who am I to think that I know better than God does?”
- Stop complaining…from our mouth or within our hearts…the antidote is to give thanks and remember the goodness of God.
- Remember to “go to the Throne before you go to the phone.”

- Misunderstanding God “kicked her to the curb” feeling judged an overwhelmed with legalism.
- God's forgiveness frees us to love others well.
- God’s forgiveness removes our sin “as far as the east is from the west.”
- We all need the TRUTH (that sets us free) that can only be found in God’s word. We need to KNOW the TRUTH.
- “Do we want God on our terms? Or God on His terms or as He sees fit?”
- Life is guaranteed to have hard spots.
- The Lord uses deep trials to bring us into intimate and personal comfort with Him.
- We cannot EARN His love or favor as we already HAVE it!
- Transformation is 100% the work of the Holy Spirit but it is 100% ours to invite it, participate with and yield to it.
- There are still battles...Even after our breakthroughs.
- God goes AHEAD of us…He is not surprised by the things that surprise us.
- “This is not about my lung cancer, I am on a mission trip with all involved in my cancer journey.” Our difficulties give us an opportunity to teach others about Jesus.
- The church is not perfect because it is made up of imperfect people.
- When we have friends beside us we can suffer longer and better.
- Cancer treatments at MD Anderson provided a mission field where the “fish were jumping in the net”...so many divine appointments.
- Desperation is often disguised as a gift leading to a better change.
- We need to know the TRUTH of God in a world that is so full of lies….We learn truth through the Bible, fellowship, Bible studies etc
- It is never our efforts that will do it….He is the transformer, we are just a vehicle of His love to others.
- SEEK Jesus…..LEAN into Him!

- Raised in a church home but not a Chirstian home…and there is a difference.
- During challenging financial times she learned that God is truly our Provider.
- Very often our pain will lead us to our purpose.
- Young moms need connection with other young moms in the same season.
- It’s never too late….her dad came to know the Lord in his 70’s before he died.
- Fear and shame make us hide…especially when our identity is in being a good mom and we actually feel like a failure.
- The Lord didn’t call us to be successful, but He did call us to be faithful.
- Moms need to relax, give more grace, and not overreact!
- She learned greater compassion and greater surrender through confusing childrearing years.
- Surrender is the path to peace….”Lord I give everything and everyone to You!”
- Surrender brings healing.
- Unediting journaling can bring healing…even if you have to throw it away.
- We need to find our true identity in Christ and not in children, health, appearances, activities, our home or our finances.
- There is power in giving thanks for the good as well as the hard. Consider having a thanksgiving journal.
- God wants to take our burdens. Give them to Him. Consider a “God box.”
- Find your people. Don’t try to live alone. We need each other. Women need friends outside of their husband and their kids.
- You are greatly loved!

- Circumstances may not change, but my thoughts and emotions about them can change.
- We all MAY have some PTSD from childhood wounds (not everyone has PTSD from childhood, but many who had unhealthy caregivers probably do.) We can only “STUFF IT” for so long before they must be confronted since they will spill over into our life.
- Heavy depression was the best and worst thing that ever happened to me as God used it to unravel and rebuild me.
- People need to be MET wherever they are!
- Grief can crush us, but also usher us into the throne room of God.
- It is often painful whenever God pulls our idols away.
- Naming and identifying emotions often help us let them go.
- It’s what stays inside of us that often keeps us sick.
- Healing always comes through healthy relationships with safe people….starting with Jesus.
- Depression can blind us so much…often bringing up shame and guilt that make us hide.
- We can never help a person that doesn’t think they have a problem.
- Grief can grow every day…so we need to consider grieving our losses regularly by talking to God about them so that we can let them go.
- Don’t minimize your feelings. Address them and get them out…possibly through unedited journaling.
- “The most important loss is your loss.”
- Her grief journey taught her boundaries…to not be a prisoner of others’ guilt messages.
- People who don’t set boundaries are often prisoners of other people.
- Don’t try so hard to be liked.

- “Prepare your child for the road ahead, but don't prepare the road ahead for your child.”
- Develop a Philosophy of Education (like a mission statement for learning)
- Her life education philosophy for her children was to teach them to be DEPENDENT on God, INDEPENDENT from the parents and INTERDEPENDENT on the family/others.
- Do not be the referee for your kids! Teach them to “work things out!”
- When under stress (from life or homeschooling) …take DEEP breathe and get your kids outside to run around the house and wear some energy off while you cool down.
- Work on developing the attention spans of your children to allow them to focus.
- Challenge your kids to THINK when they say “I don’t know”
- Foolishness is rejection of authority and is different than simple childishness (acting like a child).
- The dinner table is the most powerful place and time to TEACH things to your kids.
- “The mother’s heart is the child’s classroom!” Your example teaches the loudest!
- Your heart is your MIND (thinker), WILL (chooser) and EMOTIONS (feeler).
- “What gets your attention …gets you!” be careful what you watch or listen to!

- There is wisdom in getting “outside Christian counsel” for greater revelation.
- If there is “household” or “marital” tension…start talking and asking questions as something may be wrong or brewing.
- We are often more REAL when we have come out of the fire!

- Expect life to have challenges but know that you can be more than a conqueror…and in the meantime you may need a stiff spine.
- When your children wander, stay the course, walk in Truth so that you give them somewhere consistent to return to.
- Our children are always watching us…even after they are out of the house.
- Work “heartily for the Lord” in “whatever you are doing!”
- Keep a teachable spirit.
- “You are not competing with others, you are only competing with yourself.”
- Maximize your natural gifts!!!
- Listen with your eyes, your ears, and your heart. Do not just listen to small “sound bites.”
- Life is too short. Become a DEEP THINKER!!!

- Forgiveness and reconciliation are very different.

- Awareness is key. We cannot fix what we are not aware of.

- We are all humans and therefore all vulnerable.
- He died for us in the MIDDLE of our sins! Just the way we are/were.
- If you struggle with addictions please get outside help!
- Ultimately her addictions and her struggles drew her closer to the Lord.
- Lack of communication can/will lead to a marital crisis!
- Satan loves to put lies in your mind and in your marriage.
- We cannot “fix” our spouse. We are NOT their Holy Spirit!
- Ask the Lord to give you HIS EYES for your spouse.
- It is OKAY to feel like you are going crazy at times…LOL.
- Recognize that we can all be blinded.
- Struggles are an opportunity to grow.
- Love is not a feeling. Love is a decision.
- You will live your best life from a place of humility and surrender.
- Life is going to bring you different seasons…address your “personal needs” in each.
- Be creative in addressing your own health and well-being and don’t expect your spuse to take care of that.
- In talking to your spouse…do not use the words “always” or “never”...use “I” wording.
- When we RUN AWAY from difficult situations (and don’t address them) then we just end up STUCK there.
- Remember the early years of loving your spouse by looking back at old photos together.

- Grief is not just a word! It is an experience!
- The experience of navigating our grief allows us to grieve with those who grieve.
- Little young babies have an angel that beholds the “Face of God”
- Practical lessons that seem like “no big deal” …often are a “big deal” of help.
- Social media and our phones interfere with our needed rhythms of rest!
- All parents have insecurities (because we are not perfect humans) but God’s grace fills in the blanks….and love covers all!
- When it comes to teen rebellion: pray on their behalf and have faith that God is working even when you can’t see it
- Think “this did not happen TO me but this is happening FOR me” and drawing me into a closer relationship w ith God.
