in this episode we discuss the retroperitoneum and the structures found within. We put a particular focus on the the abdominal aorta and AAA! (abdominal aortic aneurysm), the pancreas and pancreatitis, as well as the kidneys and kidney/ureteric stones.
In episode 3 we talk about the anatomy and blood supply of the colon, the liver and the gallbladder. The clinical elements we cover include constipation, oesophageal varices, haemorrhoids, cholecystitis and cholecystectomy.
We discuss the peritoneal cavity and its different parts and what constitutes the Upper GI tract. We discuss gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), pyloric stenosis, ascites and fainting.
We discuss the boundaries of the abdomen, the 4 quadrants and 9 regions of the anterior abdominal wall. We discuss inguinal hernias and surgical scars whilst linking them to the abdominal exam from clinical skills.
