Danni has worked in the eating disorder sector for over 20 years, following her own lived experience. In this episode we are excited to be talking to Dr Sarah Dash. Sarah is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute for Health and Sport at Victoria University. Her work examines the role of lifestyle, in particular diet and physical activity, on mental health. Sarah’s background is in psychology and her doctoral work examined the role of diet in the prevention and treatment of depression.
Sarah’s research interests include how aspects of lifestyle can help to promote physical and mental health, particularly among emerging adults. She is also interested in working to make sure that programs and interventions are accessible, relevant and realistic for all involved.

Stella Ladikos from Meraki Mental Health Training (@merakimhtraining) joins us to explain what mental health first aid is and how culture and language shape our understanding of mental health. Stella draws from her personal experiences within the Greek Community to share strategies to challenge cultural stigma around mental health. She explains why we as individuals need to reflect on the way we speak about mental health to better support those around us and allow for more honest conversations about mental health.
