You're used to seeing Hometown Highlights every Friday during the school year. Now get even more up-to-date northern Michigan sports discussion and analysis on UpNorthLive's latest sports podcast The Hometowner!
Each week Sports Director Harrison Beeby will give us an extended look at the sports scene here in northern Michigan and across the state and feature interviews with guests that help get us excited about the sports we love!
Where have we been? That's a great question and to be quite honest we don't really field it that well but we are back for Episode 4 of the Hometowner and we've got a couple great guests. UpNorthLive reporter extraordinaire Miya Ingle joins us to talk all things sports when she's not covering news stories and we've got TC West athletic director Jason Carmien talking the switch for West and Central football to the Saginaw Valley League while TC Central AD Justin Thorington shares thoughts on the return to his alma mater.
We are back for our third edition of The Hometowner and this week we keep things in house by talking to UpNorthLive's main anchor Marc Schollett.
Marc is in the middle of a busy two-week stretch. He just completed his fourth Ironman race over the weekend at the new race in Frankfort and now he's looking forward to the Patriot Game this Friday night between Traverse City Central and Traverse City West in high school football. His younger son is playing in the game for his final year as a senior on the Titans.
Give a listen to a great interview with a guy who knows how to tell a story and listen in for Sports Director Harrison Beeby's thoughts on the Patriot Game along with the Lions season opener and the 2-0 starts for Michigan and Michigan State.
The Hometowner is back for Episode 2! We guarantee this will be better than Star Wars: Episode 2 Attack of the Clones because we have got the field manager of the two-time defending Northwoods League champion Traverse City Pit Spitters Josh Rebandt on the show for an extended interview!
The Spitters are the first team in Northwoods league history to win the title two postseasons in a row since 2020 did not count and Josh has been with the team since its inception three years ago.
We will also touch on the other good storylines for fall sports including early state rankings at the high school level to the return of football at the high school, college and pro levels!
Check out the first episode of UpNorthLive's latest podcast The Hometowner! In our maiden voyage Sports Director Harrison Beeby will chart how this fall's high school sports seasons will hopefully go a little smoother than 2020, he'll speak with Traverse City Record Eagle writer James Cook about the first week of the high school football season and to wrap things up we discuss the return of college football and the Lions along with what is hopefully an upward trend for the Detroit Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings!
