The Black Culture sits down with businesswoman, author, singer-songwriter, world traveler and Pan African Think Tank founder, C.Nichole. She has traveled to more than 100 countries, written multiple book series, released over a dozen singles and two extended play albums, as well as started the non-profit Pan African Think Tank.

C.Nichole, born Christin Nichole in Dallas, TX, had been a fan of music since the age of 2, but ultimately remembers Christmas of 1998 as an important moment of her life. After unwrapping and listening to Mya’s first CD, she realized she wanted to be in the music industry any way she could; setting her goals for just that at 7 years old.

After singing and winning at local talents shows and participating in choir, she moved to Southern California. While attending classes at Le Studio in Pasadena, CA C.Nichole trained in Hip-Hop, Flamenco, and Jazz. An opportunity came so she took it, and ventured off into modeling after getting signed to an agency in L.A.

At 15, with modeling and working on movie sets, she knew that music was her real passion. Feeling in order for people to take her seriously, she needed to also tend to the business side of things. She filled out her first copyright application along with the BMI songwriter application at 16. After modeling for the Texas Summer Music Conference, which enabled her to network with industry executives, artist, and DJs and take in their advice and hear their stories, she realized she needed to put down whatever was distracting her from music and get back to business.

After graduating high school early, she left right away to attend The University of Houston majoring in Marketing and minoring in European Studies & Journalism. She also seized the opportunity to intern at one of the “Big 3” record labels during her time there. Taking all the knowledge she learned, she started her own music publishing company.

After demoing tracks for artists and getting feedback from labels, she realized that no one understood her sound and songwriting style, and decided to go about music alone; creating her own record label. C.Nichole decided to start off her career by being the singer in the duo group, Apollo’s Interlude.

After the group disbanded, she continued on as an Urban Pop artist. In 2014 C.Nichole released her 90’s and early 00’s R&B influenced album, “Coup d’Etat”. Her debut album landed singles such as “In My Dreams” and “Why” on internet radio stations on 3 different continents. “Hope You Hear This (On The Radio)” received FM radio play throughout America, while “Every Day” and “(Just Keep) You Hold On Me” caught the attention of college radio. In 2015 C.Nichole released the EP, “Acoustically C.Nichole: Coup d’Etat”, and then the “Texas Chick” EP in 2017.

After having visited 79 countries by the beginning of 2019, C.Nichole finally found a way to combine her passion for music with her love for travel. She stayed true to her Urban Pop roots, which fuses the mixing of genres, and her melodic songwriting skills with Christin SanDiego.

The Black Culture Podcast sat down with Bryan Saint Louis, to discuss life, change, and his work to help make a difference in the world. Bryan is the host of Madcasters, a podcast focused on making a difference in the world.

Bryan Saint-Louis is currently a Youth Pastor in Calgary, Canada. He has worked in the youth sector for much of his adult life. Youth work was never something that he had considered in the past but was something that he truly fell in love with once the opportunity was in his journey.

He worked as a youth specialist at a Juvenile detention facility in Michigan. It gave him a realization about life that he has never seen before and was the catalyst that opened his heart to youth mentoring.

Bryan eventually became a Teacher and Principal at a school for at-risk youth who were on the path most likely where they would not graduate high school. He often likes to use the phrase "youth that are misunderstood" rather than at risk because once you get to know them, their stories tell you why they are in their current predicaments.

It led him to be a youth pastor in Canada where he focuses on the young adult population. His approach has always been to look at life through a different lens to see the full picture.

He mentors youth and helps them figure out their passions. They are active in the communities and help to find ways to impact Calgary and issues around the world.

Graduating John F. Kennedy High School in the class of 2010 in the top 15% of his class, Azel decided to leave Cleveland and attend North Carolina to attend Shaw University where he studied Mathematics, and then transferred to West Virginia State University where he graduated with a degree of BA in Economics in 2016.

After graduating he returned home and worked for Huntington Bank as a Relationship Banker, and subsequently, Quicken Loans Mortgage Company as a Loan Originator.

LADY GILMORE (AKA "Queen on the Scene") has shown her flexibility acting as host, co-host as well as a guest on numerous television and radio shows including Time Warner Cable's Money Talk; Radio One's WERE, Ronnie Duncan's News Talk 1490; WJMO Cleveland Talk Radio; and Another Look.

Lady Gilmore's latest venture is having her "Queen on the Scene" newspaper column, which was formerly featured in the City News News Paper, come alive via the television screen on TIME WARNER CABLE.

The show used to broadcast weekly. Now the show is available at viewers' fingertips 24/7 by visiting the website www.kazradio.tv Cleveland Online Inspiration.

The concept of the "Queen on the Scene" show is to highlight guests in their own surroundings. The content can cover an array of unsung heroes to speak such as an elder reminiscing about their memorable past from the comfort of their own home or an entrepreneur from the convenience of their business location. "Queen on the Scene features not only" untapped" talent from the Northeast Ohio area but also some professional's known nationally, such as Judge Lynn Toler of Divorce Court and Decision House.

Lady Gilmore has been a facilitator for community forums, fundraisers, workshops, numerous fashion shows, talent shows, gospel music shows, black history month, and Kwanzaa.

She faithfully serves on the working Board of Officers of Women In Need "W.I.N." Ministries and has served on the steering committee of the International Parade Committee; and media/public relations for Mt. Pleasant Heritage House.

She is also a domestic violence advocate and supporter of the Beyond Abuse Project as well as participates in endless volunteering with her church Greater Harvard Avenue Church of God In Christ.

She is the founder of "Follow Your Dreams" a motivational company that has allowed her to propel clients into carrying out their dreams and bringing them to fruition. And, now she has expanded that company to "Follow Your Dreams Daycare Palace," an early learning and child development center.

Lady Gilmore is very active in making a difference in the lives of children. For her "born-day" (December 19), instead of receiving gifts; she does an annual "toy drive" requesting NEW TOYS!

In return, she gives them away to a charity of her choice and children throughout the State of Ohio. This has been her celebration tactic since 2016, as her focus is to cultivate and develop children in ways that they may not get the opportunity to experience.

In 2019, she created "TuTu's & Bow Ties," an annual fashion show to guide children to go beyond what they see and make their dreams a reality!

Lady Gilmore has been happily married to Deacon Gilmore for 49 years and enjoys her family life with son Grant and several grandchildren.

The AfroSet encouraged self-defense, community policing, education, economic independence, black unity, and black pride. They opened several shops in Cleveland, Columbus, and West Virginia.

Alex and Willie sit down with the founder and director of Project Save, Carl Cook to dig into his life's story. Although growing up in one of the few prestigious African American families in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Carl had his own struggles to overcome.

Growing up under two successful parents (his father was a federal judge and his mother was a podiatrist with her own practice), as a child, Carl struggled with dyslexia.

At a very young age he began secretly drinking to hide his insecurities and began leading a double life. By the time he was a teenager, he was into gang life as well as serious drinking and drug addiction—and wound up homeless on the streets of Cleveland’s dangerous Hough neighborhood.

For 20 years of his life, Carl struggled through the kind of violence and addiction the rest of us only see on the news or in the movies. Despite all of this, he also earned a degree in Culinary Arts from Beachwood Culinary School which he still uses in his career to this day.

Even in gang life, Carl had always been a leader. So, on October 24, 2005, he made a decision. He took his last drink, stopped all the drugs, and asked for help. He wanted out, he wanted a better life—and what’s more, he wanted to devote his life to helping others in the same situation, improve the quality of their lives. His list of achievements toward that goal are remarkable:

He founded Project Save in 2006. Its mission is to work hands-on to help prevent other men, women and children from entering into the cycle of homelessness and poverty.

He is an alumnus of the Emergency Men’s Shelter at 2100 Lakeside, and he returned to be a Food Service Director for seven years.

He Co-founded The Metanoia Project, focusing on the shelter-resistant population that no one else was able to serve.

For the last eight years, he’s run The Courage to Change program, successfully working with homeless men and women to give them to tools to literally find the courage to change their lives and get employed and off the streets.

Since 2011 is the director of the food service at St Herman’s House - Focus Cleveland and is also a caseworker and program director.

He speaks throughout Northeast Ohio to countless organizations, schools, churches, synagogues, and mosques—reaching out to children, adults, and families wherever he can. Listen in, as dig into the life of Carl Cook!

The Black Culture Podcast sits down to interview Yolanda Burt as she takes us on the historical journey of Black History before America. We go all the way back to the motherland and around the world, eventually landing in present-day America.

To say that African history has contributed to American culture is an understatement. Our influence and cultural achievements are considered amongst the top exports in the US, with most of us not even knowing a fraction of how we've influenced the world.

And with all of our contributions, we are still demonized, oppressed, brutalized and discredited while trying to heal, fight cultural battles on multiple fronts and find our identity. Watch this incredible interview as educator and humanitarian, Yolanda Burt, takes us on a journey.

Yolanda Burt is an educator, consultant, and humanitarian. As an instructor at Cleveland State University (CSU), Ms. Burt teaches the African American Family Life course, which is designed to facilitate students’ knowledge and understanding of various dimensions of African American family life.

Ms. Burt earned her Master of Education degree in Adult Learning & Development with a concentration in Higher Education Administration, and a Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Cleveland State University. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Cameron University with a minor in Ethnic Studies.

In addition, she has presented internationally at Oxford University, England, and Addis Abba University, Ethiopia.

She also helped to establish Ethiopia’s first Community Work & Life Center and the Ethiopian Employers Federation’s Business Center to increase the quality of life of the people of Ethiopia.

Ms. Burt was the first African American and first female Director of CSU’s Career Services Center. She continues to serve in leadership capacities in organizations that positively impact youth and community members. One such organization is the Mt. Pleasant Heritage House Cultural Arts & Resource Center.

The mission of the Mt. Pleasant Heritage Houses is to preserve and promote the rich history of the African American community and the African diaspora.
