On Episode 52, Part two of my Part two in-depth interview with award-winning Canadian guitarist Jesse Cook talks about his Canadian Tempest II tour and what it is like to be on tour again, he also talks about when his passion for music began and who was his influence. "When it comes to classical guitar stylings, few can match Jesse Cook’s musical resume,” Inlander’s Seth Sommerfeld says. “The JUNO-winning Torontonian virtuoso infuses world music flair into his Flamenco fusion sound, often traveling to far-flung parts of the world like Colombia or Egypt to inject the authentic tones of a region’s traditional music into his own sonic blend.” It’s been more than 25 years since the internationally-lauded virtuoso first stepped onto the scene with his now-iconic release, Tempest. In the time since he’s come to hold ten Gold and Platinum studio albums with a combined sales of two+ million copies, five concert DVDs and live discs, five PBS specials, and multiple awards — a JUNO win, 11 nominations, three Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards, a Gemini, and an Acoustic Guitar Magazine Player’s Choice Silver Award. The digital convergence of the past several years has also resulted in Cook’s music streaming in rather impressive numbers across a series of platforms; by Fall 2021, his Spotify stats had surpassed 55+ million, and plays on Pandora soared beyond the 300+ million milestone. YouTube’s universal visual appeal has also grown steadily for Cook’s connection with audiences, with his channel accumulating upwards of 25+ million views since 2010 — including 3+ million of those for “Azul."" Dr. MacMillan talked about the following:

Training and nutrition are very likely number 1. I want to focus on other factors.

Dietary reactivities: Lots of misunderstandings here. Most of us have unique food reactivities that cause obvious reactions. These reactions can slow us down, cause digestive issues, itching, headaches, possibly even weight gain.

Supplements: Caffeine, L-theanine, whey protein (if not reactive), beetroot extract, and potentially creatine. Ashwagandha trial

Mental Health: Sensations of anxiety and depression can be very distracting, and rob an athlete of resources better spent on training & recovery. Taking steps to optimize one's own thought processes such as with cognitive behavioural therapy can increase focus and output.

In this podcast, I interviewed Stephen Schettini, a former Buddhist monk, a meditation & mindfulness teacher, an author and a ghostwriter. Stephen talked about why he joined the Buddhist monastery, his writing, his books, and his teaching.

Background information: His parents—who literally ran away to join the circus—inspired him to live life on his own terms and never settle for less. After eight years studying with the Dalai Lama and his tutors, he developed his own method, Mindful Reflection™. His classes are usually open to the public, but he teaches private groups too—notably cancer patients, care-givers and others facing health-related anxiety. Following the Covid-19 shutdown, Stephen established MindfulnessLive.ca to give LIVE Zoom classes three times a week. His mission is to provide a live, accessible teacher and ongoing support to build a rich and meaningful life.

He lives near Montreal with his business partner/wife Life Coach Caroline Courey.

For more information: www.schettini.com ; www.mindfulnesslive.ca

Stay tuned for a chance to win a copy of his book: The Novice: Why I Became a Buddhist Monk, Why I Quit & What I Learned.
