Nationwide — Civil rights activist Essie Berry says that Tyson Foods Inc. in Waterloo, Iowa appears to be allowing people of color to be violated leading to emotional and mental trauma associated with depression in employees who have suffered from serious injuries while working. She also says that they are also denying employees who have been traumatized and suffering from mental health issues that are directly connected to their work. A Black woman was reportedly severely burned and ended up with third-degree burns to her back that happened directly in front of another employee and traumatized him. The next day following this incident, she was reportedly ordered to return back to work. Tyson is also alleging that the company is pressuring employees that have been diagnosed and evaluated by professionals such as a psychiatrist and therapist to return to work while not fully recovering from their injuries and trauma.
Employees have reached out to Mrs. Berry sharing their personal experiences of malicious treatment of employees. Several employees have shared how they have been mistreated by management & supervisors when they were injured in their specific jobs. Employees explained that they have had severe injuries such as body part replacements, broken & fractured bones, and some have been given an ultimatum to return to work while not fully recovered from their injuries or risk being fired. Mr. Washington is an employee who was threatened to be cut off workers compensation while still being mentally and physically impaired. Tyson appears to have no remorse for their employees or their feelings.
Mrs. Berry comments, “I know for a fact because Mr. Washington, an employee, was injured at Tyson Foods in 2019 and continued working while being on medication and physically impaired. He was placed on reasonable accommodations by his doctor and taken off these accommodations and restrictions by Tyson’s careless and malicious decisions, which He re-injured himself and caused a meltdown. It is sad to know that a company of this magnitude would do this to their employees especially when this person has been there for 14 plus years.”
This man is now 61-years old, underwent a complete total hip replacement, suffered a broken thumb, and had shoulder surgery. He is on several severe prescription medications. He has lost over 50 percent of his body capacity, disabled and his quality of life will never be the same. Mr. Washington had retained two attorneys previously that were ignoring his mental and emotional state but is now he’s pleased with his current attorney.
Tyson knows that employees should not be working while taking heavy prescription medications to prevent endangering other employees and this is against OSHA guidelines. It is not fair to employees to be pressured to return to work when they are not well mentally or physically which places them under constant fear of reprisal. It is now time to take a stand and expose what’s really happening behind closed doors and for Tyson to be held accountable for its actions. Many employees are afraid to speak because of internal intimidation. I have witnessed this for myself firsthand. It’s now time for a change to assist employees.

Nationwide -– Essie Berry, a civil rights activist known for helping victims of injustice, says it all started in 2013 when she was to start a reality show and began helping Mary Harvey, Steve Harvey’s ex-wife with some legal matters. Essie says that Steve did not like the fact that she was helping his ex and he began intimidating her with scare tactics along with threatening and harassing messages.

Violence Against Black Women – Many Types, Far-reaching Effects Black women disproportionately experience violence at home, at school, on the job, and in their neighborhoods. The Status of Black Women in the United States details these many types of violence. Black women face high rates of intimate partner violence, rape, and homicide. Black girls and women also experience institutionalized racism; they are disproportionately punished in school, funneled into the criminal justice system after surviving physical or sexual abuse, disproportionately subjected to racial profiling and police brutality, and incarcerated at rates far exceeding their share of the population. By drawing on available studies the report helps lay the foundation necessary for positive change.
The data show that:
- More than four in ten Black women experience physical violence from an intimate partner during their lifetimes. White women, Latinas, and Asian/Pacific Islander women report lower rates.
- Black women also experience significantly higher rates of psychological abuse—including humiliation, insults, name-calling, and coercive control—than do women overall.
- Sexual violence affects Black women at high rates. More than 20 percent of Black women are raped during their lifetimes—a higher share than among women overall.
- Black women face a particularly high risk of being killed at the hands of a man. A 2015 Violence Policy Center study finds that Black women were two and a half times more likely to be murdered by men than their White counterparts. More than nine in ten Black female victims knew their killers.
Racial disparities pervade the educational and criminal justice systems. Black girls are suspended or expelled from public schools at much higher rates than other girls. School administrators are more apt to perceive Black girls as “disruptive” or “loud” compared with other groups of boys and girls, and Black girls are more likely to be punished for dress code violations, talking back to teachers, and “defiance.”
Not surprisingly, multiple suspensions and expulsions impede some Black girls’ educational success. School discipline disparities can also contribute to girls’ disproportionate involvement with the criminal justice system. Black girls make up nearly one-third of the girls referred to law enforcement, and over 40 percent of girls arrested in connection with a school incident.
For too many Black girls school leads to imprisonment. Black girls aged 18-19 were four times more likely to be imprisoned than White girls. Girls and women of color are the fastest growing populations in American prisons. Scholars cited in the report ascribe disproportionate incarceration rates to racial disparities in school discipline, “War on Drugs” policies, and other forms of institutionalized racism and sexism.
Formerly incarcerated Black women experience long-term economic, political, occupational, educational, and physical consequences. The report comprehensively describes the urgent need to prevent violence against black women.

A deadly COVID-19 outbreak linked to an inflatable Christmas tree costume at a California hospital has now infected at least 92 people, including 15 patients, health officials say.
An employee who wore a fan-powered costume in the Kaiser Permanente San Jose emergency room on Christmas may have been a “superspreader,” The Mercury News reported.
Santa Clara County health officials say a COVID outbreak at the hospital, which began Dec. 27, has now spread to 77 employees and 15 patients, reported.

LA County COVID death toll rising In Los Angeles County, about two people are dying every hour on average from the virus, something the county's public health officer called an "explosive and very deadly surge."
At Methodist Hospital in Arcadia on Thursday, frontline medical workers were among the latest to receive the COVID vaccination.
"We've had this huge surge, because of the thanksgiving holiday and people getting together. There's no other explanation for the surge," said Dr. Bala Chandrasekhar, the hospital's chief medical officer. "And so please don't repeat the something at Christmas time. Because if you get sick there will be longer wait times and there may not be an ICE bed for you because of staffing or because of no ICU bed. We may not even have beds available for non-ICU patients. "
According to the latest Los Angeles County data, 4,656 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Wednesday. That number has increased by nearly 1,000 in less than a week.
"If they need to be admitted we will keep them in the emergency room until a bed is available," Chandrasekhar said. "We are talking to all of our physicians to do early discharges for patients who can go home and get them out early in the morning so we can move them from the emergency room the the med surge rooms upstairs."
Even if hospitals add more ICU beds, most don't have the extra staff to help with the surge of patients.

With Republican and Democratic negotiators struggling to reach an agreement on both a mammoth government spending bill and Covid-19 relief, lawmakers are set to postpone what had been a Friday night deadline for passing a bill.
Talks over a $908 billion pandemic relief plan have slowed, with negotiators still working to resolve key details on state and local aid as well as liability protections for businesses. Lawmakers are also still wrangling over a $1.4 trillion omnibus bill to fund the government into 2021, to which the Covid-19 package would be attached.
With current funding set to expire Dec. 11, the House is planning to vote Wednesday on a one-week continuing resolution to avert a shutdown, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said in a tweet. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said his chamber would pass the funding extension “whenever we get it” from the House.
McConnell didn’t directly address the bipartisan compromise proposal in remarks on the Senate floor. He said both parties urgently need to act on measures that have broad support, such as aid for businesses, extended unemployment benefits and money for vaccines. All of their other disagreements “aren’t going to be resolved over night,

When Black Lightning returns for its fourth and final season on The CW early next year, it'll be with a little less of one of its biggest stars. China Anne McClain, who plays Jefferson Piercer's daughter Jennifer (aka Lightning) on the hit DC Comics series, announced in a video to fans over the weekend that we'll be seeing less of her character as the show heads toward its curtain call.

But now the warfare has reportedly engulfed the lives of other people associated with the two. One friend of Vaughn has reportedly filed a multi-pronged lawsuit against the legendary comedian-turned-“Family Feud” host, saying Harvey unleashed his goons on her to harass and intimidate the civil rights activist and “murder her emotional state of mind” after he learned that she was in talks to do a reality show with his ex-wife.
Essie Berry has reportedly filed a lawsuit against the Kings of Comedy star for “defamation, despicable conduct, intentional infliction of mental anguish and emotional distress,” Bossip reports after, according to Berry, he engineered a years-long campaign of malicious intimidation and sabotage, according to court documents filed on May 22.
Berry is the widow of sitcom star Fred Berry from the classic show “What’s Happening.” Harvey allegedly commenced a seek-and-destroy mission of Berry after she and Harvey’s ex-wife, Mary Vaughn, were in the talks to participate in a reality show she’d been pitched called “Widows, Wives and Ex-Celebrity Wives.”
Berry said she was not privy to the fact that Vaughn had signed a nondisclosure agreement during her turbulent divorce from Harvey that forbids her from speaking on anything related to the former marriage.
Once Harvey found out that such a reality show was possibly in the works, Berry said Harvey went volcanic and tried to torpedo Berry’s life though “malicious prosecution.” Harvey allegedly referred to her as an “extortionist” and a “co-conspirator.” Berry said Harvey’s shenanigans and industry sabotaging scared away this and any other reality show opportunities.
“…The defendant went (to) great lengths to make Ms. Berry’s life a living hell,” Berry wrote in court docs, according to Bossip.
Harvey countered Berry’s accusations as unsubstantiated and meritless and dismissed her as a person who was abusing the justice system.
Berry fired a few counter strikes, saying Harvey did the following to her:
- Hired folks to scare her over the phone;
- Had goons show up announced at a family member’s home while she was there;
- Had a mysterious man hide in the bushes while peering in a friend’s home windows in an effort to find Berry;
- tampered with her mail;

“When someone saw the man peeking in the window, he was confronted,” Berry wrote in her new complaint, according to the entertainment publication. “This is when he identified himself as an affiliate of Harvey, not an officer of any court. He asked for the plaintiff by first name, then ran off.”
A terrified Berry responded by filing a police report and getting a restraining order against Harvey, her court papers say. She is asking the courts for $5M in damages, as she said she had to seek medical help to deal with anxiety, panic attacks and other health-related issues due to her extreme fear of the Harvey camp.

federal wrongful death lawsuit alleges that a manager at a Tyson Foods plant in Iowa organized a group bet on how many meatpacking employees would contract Covid-19 just as the coronavirus began to spread widely among plant workers in late March and early April.
The suit, filed on behalf of the estate of deceased Tyson Foods, Inc. employee Isidro Fernandez, alleges that Covid-19 was spreading widely at the Waterloo, Iowa pork processing plant in early April when Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson visited with county health officials.
Working conditions at the plant were so bad that they "shook" Thompson "to the core," according to the suit, which said that, at that time, Waterloo plant workers were crowded together and few wore face coverings.
The suit alleges that Thompson lobbied Tyson to close the plant and they did not.
The suit also alleges that as Waterloo employees fell ill, Tyson transferred employees from another shuttered facility to Waterloo and did not properly test those employees before doing so, worsening the spread.
"Around this time, Defendant Tom Hart, the Plant Manager of the Waterloo Facility, organized a cash buy-in, winner-take-all betting pool for supervisors and managers to wager how many employees would test positive for COVID-19," the suit alleges.
Hart did not immediately respond to NBC News' request for comment.
On April 22, due to the wide spread of coronavirus among its employees, Tyson shut down their Waterloo, Iowa pork processing plant that is at the center of this lawsuit.

In court documents obtained exclusively by The National ENQUIRER, Essie claimed the cigar-chomping scumbag used threats, intimidation and a sealed gag order to silence her and smear her name.
Essie alleges Harvey, 61, targeted her with his dirty tricks after she asked his ex-wife, Mary Vaughn, to join the reality show, “Widows, Wives and Ex-Celebrity Wives.”
“The defendant went to great lengths to make Ms. Berry’s life a living hell,” the complaint, filed on March 8, 2018 read.

Steve Harvey’s ex-wife Mary Harvey is suing the talk-show host for $60 million for child endangerment, torture, conspiracy against rights, kidnapping, breach of contract and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
In documents obtained by Us Weekly, Mary also claims that Steve murdered her soul.
Hollywood’s Ugliest Divorces “Soul murdering is a crime not a diagnosis,” the filing states. “Soul murder is achieved by a combination of torture, deprivation and brainwashing,” Mary alleges in the documents.
The filing claims that Steve caused Mary “severe mental pain and suffering” and that the comedian, 60, “threaten[ed], manipulate[d], and cause[d] intentional emotional distress” for Mary, whom he was married to for nine years before splitting in 2005. They share a 19-year-old son named Wynton.Mary also claims that “in 2005, the defendant kidnapped their then 8-year-old son and did not allow the plaintiff to see him on scheduled visitation and holidays as mandated by the courts” and that the “overwhelming stress and pain exceeded her ability to cope.”
Stars at Court This isn’t the first time that Steve’s ex-wife has made allegations against him. In 2013 she was jailed for 30 days for contempt of court after violating a confidentiality clause following their divorce.
In a statement to Us Weekly, Steve’s lawyer denies the allegations made in the new court filing.
Hollywood’s Broken Engagements, “Mr. Harvey vehemently denies any allegations set forth in the lawsuit. The Complaint is meritless, frivolous and the allegations are completely false,” the statement reads. “We will vigorously defend/counterclaim against the Complaint.”

Steve Harvey was accused by his ex-wife and 11-year-old son of brutally beating the boy ... but Harvey's rep tells TMZ the comedian has been cleared.
A judge found Mary Harvey in contempt Thursday and sent her to jail for leaking sealed information about the alleged incident to the media.
As for the incident ... according to a police report -- obtained by TMZ -- Mary claims Steve got a phone call from the boy's school informing him his son lied about turning in homework. According to the kid, Steve hit him with a belt and then a paddle board -- the kind used for hazing in fraternities.
According to the police report ... cops took photos of the boy's injuries, showing bruises on his buttocks and right thigh, as well as cuts on his leg. The police report says the boy told cops, the beating was so brutal he had trouble urinating for days.
The matter was then referred to the Texas Dept. of Family and Protective Services. Steve's rep tells TMZ, the Dept. concluded, "Based on the information obtained, the child does not appear to be at risk ... the case is closed without further investigation."
Mary believes that it's all a cover-up, and she's been on a campaign for several years to expose him. But yesterday the judge had enough and felt she violated the protective order in the case and threw her in jail for 30 days.

Mary and Steve were married for nine years when they split in 2005.
Mary says after that time she was coerced into signing documents she had not properly reviewed and her signature was forged on other documents pertaining to the divorce, and that she has never seen the divorce papers herself.
Here is a brief timeline detailing significant events which are backed up with court papers and official documents.
Oct 2005 - Mary Harvey being placed under emotional duress.For the plot of her demise.
Nov 2005 - Steve Harvey files for divorce. Both parties are represented by the family lawyer, Rickey Anderson, presenting a clear conflict of interest. Mary maintains Rickey and Steve colluded to take everything from her.
2007 - Mary hires a new lawyer to help fight her side of the divorce, but he does not see things through to a judgement.
2008 - Mary’s son with Steve, Wynton, misses a weekly visit with his mother and the next time she sees him judgement.
2008 - Mary’s son with Steve, Wynton, misses a weekly visit with his mother and the next time she sees him he is still badly bruised. Mary takes him to the hospital they call the police, but the case is never investigated by CPS in Georgia or Texas.
2008 - Mary takes out a protective order for Wynton using Durrell Padgitt as her lawyer, but Steve apparently buys him off
2009 - Steve Harvey’s lawyer, Bobbie Edmond, writes a blackmail letter trying to force Mary to settle the divorce. The letter is signed by Judge Robert Dry.
2011 - Mary attempts to view records pertaining to her at the county court but is disallowed by the clerks
2011 - Mary Harvey is arrested for non- payment of child support, despite not being ordered to pay child support. However, Judge Dry claims Mary is arrested for violating a gag order, served the same day as the arrest. Details of this are unclear as per court documents, but no record of an order against Mary exist at various courthouses in Texas. Mary says she has never seen or been served with a gag order.
December 2013 - Mary arrested for contempt of court,Ordered by Angela Tucker
January 2014 - Mary released from jail and told if she violates her gag order, which she has never seen, she will be sentenced to 28 years in prison.
March 2017 - Civil Rights Activist Essie Berry discover,signature forgery collusion, blackmail, Bribes to Judges, Extortion, Embezzlement, Identity theft, misrepresentation by council, perjury, contempt court, violation of division of assets, false imprisonment, Kidnaping Wynton as a minor in Texas,found in cases relating to Mary.
