Today I’m diving into why it’s important for you to know your WHY. This is for really anything you do, but especially for your goals and dreams. Why you’re doing something, or not doing something is crucial. The only reason we do anything at all or avoid something is how we think it will make us feel if we do or don’t do that thing.

And when it comes to your goals and dreams, your WHY becomes the fuel to motivate you and get you through the hard times. All human behavior is driven by emotions, so if you know how to intentionally create the emotions on demand that will get you to your dream, you will be successful in getting there.

Today we’re talking about the importance of choosing to go beyond your comfort zone. Of course, just like in nature, not every period in our life is meant to be a growth period, but there’s a saying that “if we’re not growing and changing, we’re dying.” I talk about the 2 different types of discomfort and why one is way better to choose than the other. I talk about how you can get beyond your current comfort zone if you want to and why it's important.

I've been hanging out a lot with my dog Sekoya and her BFF Maji, who's staying with us for a month. When on hikes in nature and even at home, lately I feel so much more closer to my childlike sense of playfulness and adventure, I feel connected with my wild nature, the earth and with the elements. It’s an ancient and sacred relationship we have with these direct descendent of wolves that walk on all fours. So in no particular order, here are some of the themes that have been emerging as I’ve been being with these canine teachers lately.

Today is the last episode in a 5 part series about the elements. The 5th element in Chinese Medicine is Metal, but in Ayurvedic traditions, the 5th element is considered Ether 0r Space. Ether is the source, the original element, from which all the other elements stem. Air, Fire, Water and Earth are formed. from the stability of earth, through the flow of water, the passion of fire, and lightness of air, we reach the element that makes everything else possible: ether or ‘space’. Ether is both nothing and everything at the same time. It’s stillness, yet it’s the very thing that makes all movement and life possible. Ether is space and stillness. It is that which contains and holds. From all stillness comes possibility and movement. Ether is the element that connects us to spirit, intuition, other realms and planes.

Today is the 4th episode in a 5 part series about the primary elements of the natural world that we embody and interact with in our daily lives.

Today is all about Earth. Gaia. Pacha Mamma. Earth element is critical to our wellness as a human being. Earth is our body and our our bones. It’s all the DNA and minerals and bacteria and viruses that make up who we are. Earth represents matter itself, our physical body, and along with it —our finances, the food we eat, and our daily routine. We get dirty in this episode as we dig into how interconnected we are with the earth element.

In this episode, I distill it down to 2 CORE limitations we have in life. These are the main 2 that prevent us from manifesting and creating whatever we want, and it typically falls under one or both of these main umbrellas. There are of course many more related and complex reasons than these two alone, but in the name of simplicity and brevity I cover these two. As you listen, I want you to think about typically what category you tend to fall into in regards to getting, doing, having, or experiencing whatever you want in life. Is it one or both of these.

Today I’m continuing to talk about the element of fire. This is the 3rd episode in a 4 part series about the elements that exist in nature that we also embody in our lives and in our physical bodies. The five elements in Traditional Chinese Medicine and culture are Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal. Each element corresponds with different seasons, emotions, biological functions, organs, directions of energy and meridians (energetic channels). Just as with everything in nature the elements are also interconnected. Each element supports and gives space to the next in the cycle – this is known as the Feeding cycle. (see the outer arrows in the diagram). I talk about all of this and more here.

Here's a link to a diagram of this 5 element cycle:

Since we are in Cancer season right now in July when I’m recording this, I’m going to start the series today talking about the element of water.I talk about how we are interconnected with nature and not separate from it and how Nature exists within us and that parts of us are reflected in and found in nature.

The ending to this chapter of my parents selling their house and moving to Arizona permanently has been really brutifil—both brutal and beautiful. It’s put me through the emotional ringer. I recently realized that this is also a really transformative time. I even felt excitement rather than sadness about it for the first time the other day. I started thinking about all the ways that this change will benefit me or my family and how this is an opportunity to also grow, heal, learn, and strengthen and I talk about those silver linings in this episode.

I’m going to be talking today about a topic that I’m endlessly inspired by and constantly contemplating-Nature. Today and continuing into the next few episodes, I explore some of the ways that I continue to discover the beautiful connections between nature and our bodies and between our inner world and outer world. Elements that exist in nature also exist within ourselves. Today’s episode will set the stage and create a foundation from which we can start diving deeper into this topic, in future episodes.

There is a profound connection between light, water, our body and fascia. Plants aren't the only species that partakes in alchemizing light into energy. We as humans, take in light through our eyes and skin and use it and along with our breath, as a prime energy source. Light is responsible for many important regulatory functions for our well-being. We’ve only scratched the surface when it comes to how profoundly light affects our health and well-being and I dive into that in this episode.

Today’s episode is about how important it is to be seen. But we also then have to talk about how willing you are to get vulnerable enough to really be deeply seen and witnessed. It’s not as easy in practice as it sounds on paper, but it’s necessary for our health and well-being. But as much as we want to be seen, as much as we want deep presence and connection, and want to be witnessed, there is also often a part of us that also wants to hide. We don’t want the attention, we want to check out. We don’t want to be seen because it exposes us and the vulnerability of being seen and having deep connection is often overwhelming, scary, and even repulsive, especially if we’ve been hurt. I talk about the dance between the two and why it's important to lean into being seen.

Today’s episode is about why we should all immediately stop trying to fix or save other people, including ourselves. I define what this means and the subtle differences of knowing when to help and identifying if it's unhealthy patterning vs. authentic altruism. This doesn’t mean we don’t help people or care about people. It doesn’t mean we stop healing or doing the hard but rewarding soul-growth work of looking at ourselves including our shadow, our strength, or our patterns. It doesn’t mean we still don’t let someone die in front of us if we know CPR and they're having a cardiac arrest. It does mean we need to shift the lens we look through. It starts with a subtle shift in our perception that has a ripple effect on how we view others, ourselves, the world.

In this episode I’m thrilled to be talking about the miracle and mystery of our bodies, and how most of them come fully loaded with this innate wisdom and divine intelligence to operate and heal. Why? Because quite frankly, I think most of us have forgotten this and have lost touch with our capabilities. The body heals itself, and It knows what to do. But it needs your help and is overwhelmed AF. You just have to take the stress out of the body daily so it can do it’s thing. Here, I talk about why we don't heal and some things we can do to start to heal, feel better, and to be better stewards of our miracle machine.

Today’s episode is about valuing yourself. You may feel that you already authentically value yourself, and that may be true consciously and in some areas. But there are typically areas where we struggle to find value, find it hard to show up for ourselves, or have hidden layers that we can’t always know or see that come from our cultural conditioning and societal, familial, and ancestral programming. We'll talk about the multitude of ways that valuing yourself (or not) shows up in your life, how to go about upgrading your value, and how that can positively impact every area of your life.

In today’s episode, I share with you one of my favorite daily routines that serves multiple functions in my life and in my self-care. This routine has turned out to be crucial for being a sacred and safe place where I dream and manifest naturally, almost without trying. I take my dog here to this beautiful woods and meadow combination almost daily without fail, even in rain and snow. I can let my dog off leash and I get to re-wild myself too.

I believe we suffer when we don’t have spaces to be ourself w/out judgment, when we aren’t seen for who we are with all of our gifts and flaws, and when we don’t practice silence/stillness, connect with nature, or take time to intentionally dream or talk to God/The Universe.

I encourage you to find your own Meadow of Dreams internally and externally, and if you already have it, I support you in remembering and acknowledging the beauty and the importance it plays in your life.

Authenticity is often overshadowed by more glamorous emotions like love or joy. But in this SPANE scale study of 25,000 participants, being true to one’s own personality, spirit, or character was 4,000 x more powerful. The frequency rises to incredible heights when we align our actions with our beliefs, desires, and needs. Unlike love, which has been celebrated as the pinnacle of emotional experiences, authenticity offers something more profound — an unfiltered connection with the self. You vibrate at a higher frequency when your words are truthful and you believe what you say. We walk through love to get to authenticity. It's the ultimate self-love.

We are talking about a simple communication strategy that you can use to clarify your own needs for yourself in any given moment, particularly in times of stress or challenge. This is also a wonderful tool to use when interacting with others who may need something, but you aren’t quite sure what you should give them, how to show up for them if you want to, or what they are really asking for. By asking yourself or others this question: What do I/you need right now…do I/you need to be helped, heard or hugged, (or a combination of these), we clarify needs. This creates clarity to ask for what we want so we can either: give it to ourselves, request it from others, or offer it as a gift to others to help them clarify there needs and meet the request if we are willing and able . And, when you are interacting with others, particularly if someone is going through something challenging, we can overtly ask them this question as a way to clarify in an abbreviated way what they are truly needing/wanting in this moment. Its a simple way to honor and name what is needed and have a greater chance of both people being more fulfilled by interactions and more deeply connected.

In this episode, I make comparisons with Imposter system as it relates to the state of our country. I discuss the trend in the US and in some other parts o the world where big businesses and corporations value profit over everything else. They fail to see the interconnectedness of their actions and how it has a ripple effect. When they strip what is essential and natural away, then what's left is an imitation version that's devoid of nutrients, soul, and life-force. And it's to the detriment of life on earth. I tie this in with the idea that Imposter Syndrome similarly, is when we don't feel in touch with our own natural core essence and we are are either living out of alignment with what's essential, or not believing in ourselves in the process.

Posture is the communicator that's a bridge between your unconscious and conscious mind. According to research, our body language shapes not only how other people think and feel about us, but it also shapes and governs how we think and feel about ourselves and within ourselves. The Somatic Channel of our imagination is the channel that connects us to our creative energetics, our ability to dream up a reality we want and then manifest it. It can also help create safety in our body and in our life and and create space. Our Imagination is truly a sacred gift and it is one of the most underutilized faculties of our conscious mind. I dive into Imagination in the context of somatics and as an important channel in our lives that is often not recognized or utilized to the fullest capacity.

In this episode, I talk about the importance of and limited nature of the Mind channel in healing trauma or difficult memories from the past. Taking in information at the cognitive level is necessary, but eventually we need to integrate this wisdom by utilizing the other 4 channels and apply it in our lives in order to heal.

View Details

The 5 Somatic channels function in a somatic therapy context in order to access, digest, and purge stuck and stagnant survival energy (aka trauma) that's in the body and nervous system. These channels are constantly processing "charges" or information. They are how we as human beings experience the world and there is no time that our awareness can be outside of these channels. In today's episode, I briefly go over the 5 channels, why they are important, and lead you through a short guided somatic practice at the end.

I have asked the divine and in my guidance, I was given at least 3 things we can focus on and practice that I Intuitively feel that 2024 will be asking from of all of us as a collective, beyond our own individual journeys and goals.

By the time this episode is available to you for your listening pleasure, it will be just a couple days before we are heading into the new year of 2024. And I know like a lot of you, there is a collective tug to look back at 2023 to see what went well, what needs improvement or change, and who we want to be in the coming year. We think about how we want to show up in our lives differently. Maybe with our significant others, families, and for ourselves. Of course, we can set goals and make changes on our own. But if you’re like most people, the glimmer of your goals fades and your new habits start to fizzle after just a month or two into the new year. This is why I want to talk to you about the importance and power of coaching and how it can help you with real and lasting change in your life-whatever that may be for you.

The kind of internal surrender I'm talking about today takes some work. In part, we are unlearning and deprogramming from all of our protective mechanisms and habits of self-sabotage and of the internal resistance to natural flow. But it is really just allowing ourselves to be in flow which is our natural state and birthright, but because so many times we are disconnected from that state and living in a constricted state of fear and anxiety, we have to do the mental and emotional work to get there.

View Details

Many people with trauma have a deep capacity for restriction and pain. Constriction is what the body does during stress and trauma. When you grow up or develop in these environments and with this programming, your body begins to associate constriction and stress with familiarity, security, and comfort. This means we will tend to seek people, habits, and lifestyles that create constriction because it’s what we know and what we’re used to because we have the capacity for it.

Guess what most of us don’t have the capacity for? Freedom. Joy. Bliss. Spaciousness. Abundance. Connection. Intimacy. Vulnerability.

And even though it feels good, many of us sadly aren’t used to feeling this way so it’s more unfamiliar and we shut it down or question these feelings/states. It feels too exposed, vulnerable and open to attack for a body that has found comfort in confinement and constriction.

View Details

In order to truly belong, we must know who we authentically are first. If we can we learn to how to witness our own minds, body, and experiences and find security in our self-attunement and self-reflection, then we find security in ourself and in our higher power/source. I don’t desperately need to belong to you or need your approval if I already belong to myself and within myself.

But finding out who we are and honoring that takes an incredible amount of determination, courage, and exploration. It takes a certain kind of grit, curiosity, and willingness to be vulnerable and stand out/stand alone at times. And if we don’t belong to ourselves and don’t love and honor ourselves first, how can we know to whom, what or where we authentically belong?

View Details

Today’s episode is about our capacity or our threshold to be with discomfort and Pain of others and ultimately within ourselves. Each of us has a current upper limit for the amount of another persons pain we are able to withstand, though that limit varies by person and circumstance. You will not likely be able to authentically tolerate or be with others in pain and discomfort, unless you have sat with and tended to your own. When you are able to do this, you help transform your own life and the life of others who you choose to come into contact with in this deeper and powerful way. It's one of the best gifts you could ever give, and it's absolutely free.

Disappointment is a feeling that comes when we hoped for something that didn't happen or have expectations about a person or situation. This is not always a bad thing, and feeling disappointment is part of the human experience. Yet, having expectations can be limiting and cause us to suffer unneccessarily. I share with you how I'm navigating in real time the feeling of disappointment and talk about something that happened recently. I talk about how I'm using all the tools and focus on what's coming up for me, rather than blaming them for my feelings. The amount of sadness, sorrow, grief, and disappointment we allow ourselves to feel in any given moment is also partly related to how deeply we can also feel joy and bliss.

Just when we think we’ve conquered something or worked through a pattern—-our trauma, our anger, our betrayal, our jealousy, our self-abandonment, or self-doubt, or whatever it is, those same old thoughts, feelings, and circumstances seem to keep re-appearing and test us.

In this episode, I share how these patterns and lessons are normal and cyclical and that every time something like this comes back around, it is a form of a spiritual test to see how we respond--this time around as the newest version of who we are now, and who we’ve become since the last time it happened. Since then, we’ve hopefully learned and our wisdom and insight has deepened. Ideally, we can respond in new, more adaptive and beneficial ways. Not to the detriment of not feeling your feelings or not being empathetic to others. Many times, people are resistant to structure or discipline because they feel it interferes with their perception of or feeling of freedom. Others are too disciplined and don’t slow down or listen enough to their own inner messages. Neither extreme is holistic or helpful, without the flexibility to engage with the other if and when called for.If we all relied on our ever-changing feelings and moods alone to dictate our behavior or actions, nothing would ever get done and we’d probably not accomplish much in a day or in our life. Yet, there is a truth that if we don’t slow down to listen to subtle or louder messages from our bodies, our sensations/feelings, and intuition, we’d miss important messages, inspirational meetings or interactions, not be open to clues and cues, and maybe even end up injured or sick so we are forced to slow down.I help show you how to integrate both discipline and intuition into your life and show you that there is freedom in structure.

I hope you take time to thank your home and body for all it does for you and be reminded of the deep connection that we all have with the earth, with our homes, with our bodies, and with each other.

Queer folks and those in the GLBTQIA community typically have to learn early on to be willing to “betray” others (aka have good boundaries) in order to honor and love themselves. Most of us learn early that people-pleasing is futile, but being out as queer or gay seems to expedites that process. So do other circumstances, certainly create those expedited learning opportunities. But when you come out, You are more visible. When we alchemize the hatred and turn it into fuel, we can learn to accept ourselves are and start loving who you are. Gays especially learn early that we’ll never please everyone and that there will always be haters and people that don’t like us or accept us. And we choose ourselves more. We chose to let people hate us. We chose to love more. We realize we’d rather be true to ourselves than betray our own souls or try to please people that can never be pleased anyway. We realize that battle we are fighting is with ourselves all along, and that it was never about them. It was always about loving ourselves through it all.

Scarcity thinking and mindset is one of the most poisonous and prevalent lies we’ve been spoon fed. What's worse is most of us believe it, hook line and sinker. At least at a subconcious level. It goes mostly unnoticed, switches into autopilot and wrecks havoc in our bank accounts, on our wellbeing, in relationships and in our lives.I talk about how in order to live a more fulfilled and expressed life, its not only possible, but rather a necessity, to choose thoughts of sufficiency despite past or current circumstances.

Sometimes there’s a path we can and should follow that other’s have paved, but inevitably we have to veer off onto our own path at different points.Because we don’t know what to do or how to do it, if we’ve never done it’s ineveitalble we’ll get lost. But we learn from it. There’s a time for us to create our own unique path, but within that, we can also take the path of least resistance and take a path that has worked from others who have been there before us. Forging your own path is more challenging in many ways and more time consuming, but necessary and rewarding. But there are times where we can learn from others who have been where we are going or want to go, that helps us spend less time, money and energy to get there than doing it on our own. The key is knowing when it's right for you to implement each strategy.

The hard things that happen to you or that you experience, have the potential to be your message. It can be the thing that inspires you to create something new that helps others. Playfulness is important. In most of our adult worlds of seriousness and work and responsibility, we have to remember to find time to play. It’s something that gets left out and not prioritized and is often seen as “irresponsible” or “frivolous”. But in the same way we need to sleep in order to be more rested, alert, and productive, our souls need playfulness to feel more alive and unlimited. I share how my recent trip to Ireland sparked this playfulness and give you examples of how you can incorporate it more into your life.

I think many of you have forgotten about the power that you have as a human being. The power we have in our own hearts and minds is truly unlimited and filled with endless possibility and potential. We are able to do something so cool…we get to receive the divine energy that’s pouring into us and through us and around us at all times and we get to turn that energy into images and thoughts with our beautiful mind. Most of us have forgotten about the direct correlation that our imagination has with what we create or with what we do or don’t do in our life. Part of the problem is that we’ve forgotten the power of our own faculties and of our own imagination and thoughts. We let our minds run wild, ignore our inspirational ideas and images, or block them out altogether. You have a vision that’s inspiring and compelling, it keeps you motivated. It’s what gets you up in the morning when you don’t feel like it. It’s what gets your butt to the gym when you’d rather not. It stretches you in ways that are unpredictable and necessary for your growth. And it’s inspiring to other people around you. Also you might just blow your own damn mind if you try.

In the Episode I’m talking about the difference between capacity and capability. We can honor our capacity at any given moment and yet also keep building our capacity. What I have the capacity for at any given moment and what I’m capable of will often be two different things. I may be capable of something, but is it in alignment for me? Am I willing to contribute my precious resources (time, money, energy, presence) on this? It’s a challenge to allow and be in an ongoing conversation with both capacity and capability, and it can be tough to consider both at the same time.I help you start to consider both.

You wish it would go away because they’re so uncomfortable .Or maybe you never have these conversations and are used to just sweeping things under the rug. I propose that if we are courageous enough to have these difficult conversations with more skill where we bring our whole self and heart to the table, there’s a beauty that blossoms from that conversation.I reflect on a difficult conversation I had recently with a group of women and how profound and healing it was to be a part of it.

If you are reading this and are human, you have feelings/emotions.

Emotions are sensations we feel in the body due to a vibration moving through us.

They are at the core of what motivates us to get out of bed and accomplish things, they also can be our biggest fear and hold us back.

We are not taught, typically until later in life if at all, how to actually process a feeling.

There is more than one way to do this.

In this episode, I share one of my processes that I use with myself and my clients to help process difficult emotions.

We need to know how to manage our most difficult feelings to build the emotional strength to create a life we love.

If you’re not afraid to feel and process any feeling, there is literally nothing you can’t or won’t do, because the worst that will happen is a feeling.

You need dopamine. It's not an option.

The question is, where are you getting it from? And how much are you getting? Are you getting too much, or not enough?

Are you getting healthy amounts of sustained pleasure from completing tasks?

Or, are you trying to solve the pain you feel or numb difficult emotions by seeking dopamine in unhealthy or excessive ways?

Are you eating a bag of chips or cookies? Doing drugs? Binging on sex, Netflix, or social media?

This mighty little neurochemical is known as the reward chemical, and it's one of four primary hormones that help us feel good and motivated.

You'll learn more about how you can decide on purpose where you'd like to get your dopamine from and do a self-check in about where you are currently getting it.

This episode is inspired from a recent experience with a homeless man and the nudges I kept getting to take action.

I talk about the importance of listening to your unique visions, ideas, dreams, and messages. These messages are unique and meant for you to listen to.

But fear, ego, distractions, and busyness keep us from paying attention and not being able to receive these insights.

The importance of being present with and acknowledging others and yourself is underestimated as one of your super powers.

We think we have a sense of what's right or wrong and believe that all of our thoughts are absolutely true. We are quick to make the other wrong without considering any other points of view or possibilities. As a society we still kill over these beliefs, war over them, and die over them.

We also spend much of our time focused outside of ourselves. We keep busy with obligations and distractions and ignore our physical body, our feelings, our sensations, our thoughts, and our intuition.

This is out of balance with the natural cycles of expansion/contraction and of duality and polarity.

We know how to please others, but most of us don't know how to go in and listen to ourselves and what we really need. We struggle to be quiet and still.

Yet going within is where the answers, the nudges, the inspirations, and the whispers come from. It's how we can reconnect with ourselve, and with God/source.

And being able to find your center in the eye of the storm, through seemingly opposite views, is truly a radical act. Focusing your attention inward when life's chaos has you wobbling, is one of the remedies for so much of what we seek.

What is your unique signature? Your divine essence? Your flavor of beauty and medicine?

We humans have a lot in common and we all want the same basic things.

But just like all plants have a unique signature, we as humans have unique fingerprints, and no two are alike.

We all carry within us skills, gifts, and medicine that is powerful and potent. The way this looks and the way we use this in our life will likely shift over time, but our divine essence is eternal and infinite.

When you are aware of and can uncover more of this signature essence, you may feel more confident, connected, and can live a life that's more authentically yours.

But often we don't want to stand out or be seen or fear judgement from others--or worse, we judge and berate ourselves..

What is holding you back from being more of you? Where are you still hiding or holding back parts of you?

When you can more clearly own and shine your focused light like a lighthouse, the circumstances, and resources, and people who are supposed to be in your life will find you more quickly and easily. And you won't waste as much time with those people or situations that are NOT in alignment. And you will have the comfort of knowing that the people that are there are drawn to the real you.

Accepting what has happened in the past. Accepting who we are right now and what is true for us. Accepting a difficult situation that's currently happening.

Doing these things can feel counter-intuitive. Accepting something we want to change or get out of can feel like we are submitting, resigning, giving up, or succumbing to a reality or situation we don't like. However, the opposite is true.

When we argue mentally with our past or when we argue internally with what is happening now, we create more resistance and exhaustion.

When we can arrive more quickly at acceptance, we bring unconditional love to ourselves and the situation. Then, this is how we free up precious mental and physical energy to find solutions, create a plan, and move forward.

When we can look at the hard things in life as an expected part of life at see how life is happening for us, we become more resilient and content, no matter the circumstances.

In this episode, I get nerdy!

Being a human on planet earth is not typically easy. We have many demands and for the most part as a species, we are stressed, exhausted, sick, and overwhelmed.

We need tools that are simple, effective, and that we can apply anywhere, anytime and with ease to create more ease and function.

This is where Brain-Heart Coherence enters.

With Brain-Heart Coherence, we can harness our inner resources and cultivate more resilience.

When we:

1) Connect with our heart by placing our hand on our chest AND

2) Breathe slowly and mindfully as we inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth (5 seconds on in breath and out breath recommended, but do what is most comfortable) and breathe as if we are breathing from our heart area AND

3) At the same time, intentionally bring to mind an elevated heart-felt emotion such as Gratititude, Compassion, Care, Appreciation, or Joy. We connect with and feel the bodily sensations of these emotions and sustain them....

THEN WE:

-Harness our natural gifts and utilize our physiology to our benefit for health and wholeness

-Take control of our nervous system so we have less stress, create more balance and peace and coherence between our heart, mind, emotions, and physical systems.

-Strengthen our immune system, balance hormones, prevent rapid aging that stress brings

-Create more clarity and calm while maintaining alertness

-Improve our self-security, cognitive ability, communications, & relationships

In this episode, I dive into ACTION, step 4 of 5 in the Mindset Model.

I talk about how motion is different than action and how thoughts and feelings drive all human actions or lack thereof.

I address a a variety of ways to approach taking action so that we can take actions that are from a more inspired and focused place, rather than a fearful place.

I talk about the importance and usefulness of habit stacking and how we can use our own physiology and pre-existing neuronal connections in the brain to help us start a new habit and stick to it.

View Details

In today's episode, I talk about FEELINGS. Feelings drive all human action (or prevent action). Feelings give us vital information. They are our internal barometer and help protect us and lets us engage with others.

A feeling is simply a sensation in your body or a frequency/vibration that passes through us in 90 seconds or less. But we must commit to choosing to be aware, feel, and tune into our bodies. If you are willing to feel discomfort and pain now temporarily, in order to prevent much more discomfort, pain, and suffering later that is long-term.

Your thoughts create your feelings, but also a bodily sensation/feelings can arise from your body and then we can give the sensation meaning with our thoughts and interpretations of the sensations.

It's tricky to find a balance when it comes to emotional regulation. It's common to shut down, disconnect, or push away feelings through distractions, avoidance, numbing, or buffering. It's also common to let emotions take the drivers seat, overwhelm you, hijack your brain and body, and act out from the emotion. This has us behaving in ways we aren't typically proud of and it doesn't feel good either. The goal is to allow, embrace, and feel your feelings all the way through, but then let the sensation/emotion pass without attaching to it or continually reactivating the circuit so that you can't be logical or function.

I talk about the 3 step process you can use now to help you better manage your uncomfortable bodily sensations and feelings so that you can live your life with more freedom, more joy, and with more confidence. The only way through is inward.

Discomfort is the currency of our dreams. Everyone feels discomfort at all stages intermittently when growing, stretching in some way, or trying to reach goals.

In order to accomplish anything in life, we need to have a compelling vision of our future and a heart-felt feeling about the version of the self we are becoming. We need to be willing to feel any feeling that might come up and feed the creativity rather than the fear/doubt/discomfort.

Would you rather feel the discomfort of working toward a goal or the discomfort that comes with stagnation and a life not fully lived?

When we surround ourselves with inspiring & encouraging people who have done what we want to do, who are being who we want to be, or are in the process of being on the journey that we are on, we create more story and possibility in our life.

Our brain and body love examples sometimes of what's possible, before we dare to think it is doable for ourselves. But it's also possible to be a visionary and believe in yourself and your dream without a doubt, even if no one else does.

I chose the name for my coaching and consulting business with intention.

However, the word "Rebel" is often misconstrued and has a negative connotation. Often collectively, we think of it meaning resistance, aggression, breaking the rules, disrespect, and at times even violence. Or perhaps you think of the the "bad girl or boy" who is wild and has a lot of fun.

In this episode, I take time to define how I interpret the word rebel and how I've reclaimed it as a powerful word that is related to our transformation.

A Rebel Heart to me is someone who is in tune or becoming in tune with one's own inner authority, sovereignty, intuition, gut feelings, & heart, It's someone who despite external circumstances, obstacles, fear, and bad programming, goes on the journey anyway. Says yes to a calling when the future is unknown. Is present for both the demands of the physical world, but pays attention to and is guided by and tuned into ones' inner life.

At the center of this inner rebellion is our faith, connection with the divine and ourselves, and our willingness to betray another to be true to ourselves. When we align with what feels right for us, we give back from an authentic and more wholesome place and serve from a fuller cup.

We become an example and inspiration to others, despite criticism, perceived failures, and challenges along the way.

The primitive part of our brain wants us to remain safe and comfortable at all costs. It is programmed to alert us to impending danger. Our brains our adapted to the time when we lived in caves and had to be careful of occasional tigers or other animals eating us. However, our brains haven't necessarily caught up to modern times where our brain interprets a lot of things and situations as dangerous, even if it's truly not. Your brain starts to interpret everything as the "dangerous tiger": your boss, your difficult coworker, traffic, deadlines, kids, schedules, or starting anything new. Anything new or unfamiliar causes a warning sign in the brain to alert us. The brain starts telling us to stop and other lies in an earnest attempt to keep us safe.

The problem is that the definition of growth is discomfort. In order to reach our dreams, we must be willing to be uncomfortable. This means in order for us to continue to grow and change and evolve as we are naturally meant to do on this human journey, we have to override our primal brain's tendencies and develop our frontal lobe to intercept these self-sabatoging messages. Imposter syndrome shows up as a limiting belief that has us convinced that we are a phony, fake, not good enough, too old, not enough education, etc. It is one way our brain attempts to self-sabatoge us in something we want to do or say or be. I explain more about it here.
