September is National Library Card Sign-up Month! We are celebrating by asking YOU to design a new library card for your favorite local library! Each winner will see their design featured on a library card that the library gives out to those who sign up for a new card. The new design will also be available for purchase for $1 to replace an existing card. Each design will be a limited print of 200 cards each, so they will truly be limited edition. Submissions must be submitted at the Main Circulation Desk or emailed to carissad@dcpl.info. Designs must be 2 inches by 3 inches and have space for the Dodge City Public Library Logo.
DESIGN FORM / FORMULARIO DE DISEÑO: Design Contest Form / Formulario Del Concurso de Diseño
Staff will vote on their 3 favorite submissions from each category, then the public will vote for their favorite design in each age group to determine our winner. We can’t wait to see what our patrons come up with!

Thank you to all who braved the March wintry weather to join me in making book wreaths yesterday. I had a blast and I hope you all did too!

IditaRead is a reading initiative associated with the Iditarod Race in Alaska, which begins in Anchorage and ends in Nome.
DCPL will participate by encouraging patrons to work as a team. We have set up 5 “checkpoints” within the YA and Adult sections of the library. Each “checkpoint” has an activity that each patron can complete. Once you have completed an activity, place it in the IditaRead box located at the main circulation desk. All activities are worth 10 miles on our Trail Map located behind the main circulation desk. You can complete as many activities as many times as you like! Help us get our team to Nome!
The mini-clinic scheduled for today, Monday February 13th, from 1-4pm has been cancelled. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
It is finally here! Come on down to Dodge City Public Library on Saturday, February 11th from 12-4pm and meet some of the amazing organizations here in Dodge City that are looking for volunteers. Give back to your community by signing up to volunteer time, even a small amount helps, with one of the many non-profit organizations participating.
DCPL will be closed Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will open again for normal hours on Tuesday.
DCPL has started several newsletters. We have a General Interest Newsletter that is emailed out between the 13th-16th of each month.
This month, DCPL is starting three brand new, subject targeted newsletters as well! We have a Trivia newsletter, an Arts and Crafts newsletter, and a Storytellers and Writers newsletter. Each of these will be sent out once a month and will contain news items about upcoming events related to each topic. Scan one or more of the QR codes below to subscribe!
We have several displays being featured here at DCPL for the month of December.
First up we have a lovely display celebrating the National Day of the Horse, December 13th, 2022. This display was put together and proposed by Morgan Wenzl. Morgan has been a horse enthusiast for as long as she can remember and had graciously allowed us to display a portion of her Breyer horse collection. You can see this display and read more about Breyer horses, the National Day of the Horse, and Morgan in the entryway display case here at DCPL.
Next, we have the artwork of the students at Dodge City High School!
These amazingly talented students have loaned us their incredible artwork for the entire month. Instructors Claudia Enciso and Denise Salem put together this display for DCPL and we could not be happier! Come check it out in the glass display cases in our Adult Non-Fiction section.
And our final display features the holiday themed artwork of Bobbi Brown! Bobbi is a local artist who has taught painting classes at the Carnegie Art Center in downtown Dodge. She has displayed a selection of her works here for the holidays. Come see her work in the display case in our Multilingual section.
Would you like to put together a display for DCPL? We are currently looking for displays for the 2023 calendar year! Contact Cindy Thomson at cindyt@dcpl.info or call 620-225-0248 ext. 217 to sign up!
Dodge City Public Library will be hosting a TSA Recruiting event in the Lower-level meeting room from 11am-1pm on Wednesday, December 14th. This event would be for those seeking TSA employment for full-time and part time positions at Dodge City Airport.
