Men's Health is a passion for founders Patrick Alonso and Stephen Zambito, as they worked through pharmacy school they discovered men's health had fallen to the wayside in healthcare over the years and decided to create a healthy environment to rebuild the way men view their health.
Men's Health Unscripted provides a space for men to discuss their health and wellbeing. This podcast features guests from all walks of life and topics that include but are not limited to men's mental health, physical health, diet, lifestyle and men's self care.

We are back from a short hiatus of recording and publishing consistently and damn it feel good to be back on the show. We needed to take some time away to focus on work, business, family and life to make sure we are always putting out great content for you guys that is valuable and informative.
The podcast is definitely an animal the likes to eat time and energy, luckily we have plenty of energy and aren’t afraid to feed it. This podcast is our creative outlet outside the profession of pharmacy and an opportunity to learn about aspects of health and wellness many may never encounter. We also use it as a resource for anyone looking for a lighthouse and have had great success connecting people dealing with cancer, mental health issues, chronic diseases and other aspects of life many men deal with, so they can feel heard and supported.
While we were gone we found a partner that we feel provides an excellent product in the health and wellness space. Canary is a company that makes gummies that cover niche areas of health. We have fallen in love with their sleep promoting Nighttime Nourisher when has ingredients that promote natural melatonin release and promote relaxation, the Nighttime Nourisher can be a fantastic addition to anyone’s nighttime routine. If you are interested in a better quality of sleep go to www.takecanary.com and check out their suite of products, and even better, all MHU listeners can use the promo code: PHARMACIST15 to save 15% on all orders, and remember shipping is always free.
We are super excited about this partnership and as you know, if you have been listening for a while, we do not endorse just anything to make a quick buck, the products have to be great and provide benefit and we feel that Canary checks all the boxes. The owners are great people that truly care about their customers health and experience. Their products have been studied at Rutgers University for quality, best of all, they really work and are super affordable for most budgets. Check it out and let us know what you think.

We sit down with 3 (2 former, 1 current) kings of the Krewe of Sant Yago out of Tampa, FL. The Krewe of Sant Yago is a 50+ year old brotherhood most notable for participating in the Gasparilla parade season in the Tampa Bay Area. Most people might believe that Krewe Life is all partying and fun but the Krewe of Sant Yago is very different. Sant Yago is one of the most philanthropic organizations in the Tampa Bay Area participating in the Knights with a Heart event and The Illuminated Knight Parade in Ybor. But one aspect of the Krewe that we are most proud of is the Krewe of Sant Yago Education Foundation which to date has provided $2 Million in scholarships to students in need that attend USF, UT and HCC here in the Tampa Bay Area.
We sit down with current El Rey (King) Chris Cubero, El Rey 47 Paul Gigante, hosts of the PC Podcast, and El Rey 41 Randy Conte to discuss brotherhood, health and the importance of building relationships beyond the general surface level of cars, chicks and sports that so many men adopt.
Our conversation is fun but we also discuss some of the hard hitting topics in men’s health. There is a loneliness epidemic in men, with fewer men reporting having a close friend to turn to in a time of need. In addition, male suicide rates are at an all time high and many of these issues could be alleviated by caring for one another and calling each other out when we know something is not right. The statistics change when we can openly have the conversation, thank you Chris, Paul and Randy for sharing your experiences in the Krewe, life and fostering friendships. We can change the way men view their mental health one discussion at a time.

Mike Vitale is an extraordinary man. Mikey has agreed to come on the Men’s Health Unscripted Podcast and discuss his experiences as a child and adult, as a victim of sexual assault. This topic is difficult and heart breaking but is so necessary to discuss in order break the stigma and end the silence so many victims feel compelled to hold onto. Approximately 14% of rapes involve men or boys, 1 in 6 reported sexual assaults are against boys and 1 in 25 reported are men. Thirty-eight percent of males that report sexual assault attempt or commit suicide.
Mikey V is a previous guest on the show (Episode 75) and has discussed some of the details of his past experiences. Mikey told us being on the podcast allowed him to reach a new audience and stated that men have reached out to him from the show for support and guidance. This is an example of what this platform is all about, providing personal accounts so men do not feel alone in hardship, in addition, turning tragedy to triumph and providing men like Mikey a space to tell their story, provide insight, knowledge and resources to help other men overcome extreme adversity.
Realizing that so many cases of sexual assault go unreported Mikey and Patrick agreed to do one more podcast discussing some of Mikey’s history, the psychological warfare Mikey endured from his assailants and how Mikey has taken steps to take his life back after years of abuse. In addition, Mikey has provided numerous resources based on his research into sexual assault. The purpose of this episode is to show victims of sexual assault that they are not alone and that there are resources that can promote healing available to them. With Mikey’s help we can promote men breaking their silence and encourage victims that there are other ways out of turmoil than self harm and suicide, which is more times than not the end result.
Mikey has taken this horrible experience and turned it into a foundation of advocacy and care, his goal, if he can help one man (he has helped many more than 1 on his journey) than his pain and suffering would not be in vein.
Mike Vitale is a true definition of what Men’s Health is all about, one of the most courageous people we know and an all around amazing human.
We ask that Mikey is treated with dignity and respect when discussing his story, this is not easy, this podcast contains troubling stories and potentially triggering accounts in order to bring awareness to the horrible crimes many endure in silence.
Mikey, thank you, for sharing your journey with me on this episode, as always I am grateful you have the faith in me to hold space for you to be an advocate for men dealing with sexual abuse. Meeting Mikey, seeing that even through extreme circumstances, you can triumph has changed my life in ways I cannot describe. I am grateful for you Mikey V, your courage is unmatched and I will make sure your message is used as an agent of positive change. Mikey’s kindness and friendship are unmatched.

Pat and Cam are back in the saddle in our biggest episode to date, our guest, current Ring of Honor World Champion and NJPW Strong Open Weight Champion Eddie Kingston. Eddie is a professional wrestler signed to All Elite Wrestling and has some insightful perspectives on mental health awareness. Eddie has always been open to discussing mental health even before he signed with AEW, many think this is part of a character but when you meet Eddie you realize, Eddie is Eddie always! Eddie gives the fans a piece of his heart every time he cuts a promo or steps in the ring and that is what fans love about him, you feel his energy with everything he does in wrestling. Even though Eddie is a larger than life star he is kind, humble and admits that he isn’t perfect (none of us are). But Eddie emphasizes growth and resilience that help make him better most days.On this episode we discuss Eddie’s mental health journey, some factors that pushed his personal growth, past Eddie vs. Present Eddie, the importance of a support system and how to handle adversity. We also get to hear some fun stories about Eddie living his dream wrestling in the G1 Climax in Japan (very prestigious tournament) as well as performing in front of 81,000 fans at Wimbley Stadium in London on AEW’s All In show. Eddie is a dream guest of ours due to his advocacy (don’t tell him we called him an advocate) in the mental health world and willingness to be a bad ass but also show vulnerability. Eddie’s discussion about his past and journey really resonated with us and even if you’re not a pro wrestling fan, we know everyone can see a little bit of themselves in Eddie. Huge thank you to Eddie Kingston for being generous with his time, coming on the show and letting everyone know you can overcome any challenge in your way.You can watch Eddie Kingston wrestle on AEW Dynamite on Wednesday’s on TBS at 8pm EST and AEW Collision on Saturdays at 8pm EST on TNT, currently he is wrestling in the most prestigious tournament in North America, the Continental Classic which are covered on the showtimes above. This is hands down one of our most fun podcasts as hosts ever. Recently, Patrick visited the Medical Man Cave Tampa location to get the low down on what makes them different than all other men’s wellness facilities. It is apparent from the moment you walk in the door, we have discussed many times on the podcast, there are not enough places for men to feel comfortable seeking medical treatment. Medical Man Cave is the place for men. From the moment Patrick walked in he couldn’t help but smile. The staff, decor, mini bar, snacks and overall aesthetic at the Medical Man Cave invite you to relax and understand this is a place for guys.
Our guest this episode is Gary Timms, he’s basically the face that runs the place at the Tampa location. Gary T was super welcoming, hilarious, informative and happy to have MHU in the building to show us all the amazing options for men. After about 30 minutes of meeting with Gary, we knew he would be a great podcast guest, he’s on the front lines of the men’s health battle and takes this task very seriously. On this episode Gary discusses some of the lesser known procedures for men that Medical Man Cave offers, shares some fun stories from his military career and lets us know how Medical Man Cave is here for men in not only the Tampa Bay Area but beyond. Medical Man Cave currently has 6 locations in the United States with another one coming to a town near you. We hope you all enjoy as well as learn and laugh as much as we did.

Pat and Cam revisit a well discussed topic here on Men’s Health Unscripted but from a much different perspective. We have discussed Erectile Dysfunction many times, topics including diagnosis, treatment, natural remedies, etc. but we have never discussed the mental side of ED. Erectile Dysfunction can have a compounding effect and most statistics state that almost all men will experience ED at some point in their lifetime. Will N Richards provides a very interesting perspective on the mental aspects like self care, creating intimacy not only between you and your partner but with yourself, how to discuss ED with a partner and much more! Additionally, we discuss Will’s book “The Mystery of The Missing Erection” which can be found on amazon and Will’s website Listed below that dives deep into ED from the mental perspective. We both learned a lot from this episode and know there are some great nuggets for everyone. Thank you guys for listening and don’t forget to like, follow, subscribe and all that good stuff. Patrick and Cam have the opportunity to explore physical therapy with friend of the show Dr Kevin Melendez, PT, DPT. Dr Kevin is a physical therapist out of Orlando, FL who owns and operates his revolutionary physical therapy practice “Swish PT and Performance.” How is Dr Kevin’s practice revolutionary you might ask?Dr Kevin wants his patients to get out of the hamster wheel so many people get put on by the traditional healthcare/ insurance model. How does Kevin do this? By combining the use of clinical practice guidelines, research and technology Dr Kevin gets his patients to exceed the traditional expectation of just, “Getting back to baseline,” and gets them back in the game performing at a high level. Traditional physical therapy only seems to be a necessity when a patient is injured but Dr Kevin makes some great points about seeing a physical therapist once a year to get a full diagnostic check up. This way he can help prevent injuries before they start. We enjoyed talking with Dr Kevin, this interview is packed full of great information and we know you will enjoy it as well. Mikey V is extraordinary and unstoppable, this is part 2 of the episode where we dive into Mikey’s past and discuss some very sensitive topics that are rarely address in the world of Men’s Health. We ask when you listen to carry and open mind, open heart and deep respect for Mikey, he truly did one of the most difficult things a man can do, discuss his experiences as a victim of sexual assault as a child. I have never been a part of an interview where I was taken through the emotional spectrum quite like this interview, I held back tears, felt anger and wouldn’t you know Mikey still made me laugh through it all. Mikey V is one of the most compassionate, caring, kindhearted men I have ever met. When discussing his experiences with sexual assault I was taken aback when Mikey asked me how I was doing, that is a testament to who Mikey is as a person. I remember him asking me how I was doing and thinking, “How am I doing? Mikey how are you?” That is Mikey, a pillar of what Men’s Health Unscripted is all about. He cares so much for others and has an unmatched desire to help men overcome obstacles no matter how big or small.
One of Mikey’s primary messages in this episode is discussing topics like this because many men bottle up the experience and emotions until it has become too toxic or combustible, leading to self harm or harming others. Mikey could have easily taken a different route but here he is, putting himself out there for the world to see so that other men know they are not alone. Mikey I cannot express enough gratitude for you allowing me to hold this space for you to discuss these difficult events. Meeting you has truly changed my life for the better. Mikey is one of us now and always will be, thank you for your kindness and friendship, the world needs more Mikey V’s!!!

Mikey V is an extraordinary and unstoppable man. Mikey is the embodiment of what Men’s Health Unscripted is all about. In part one of this two part powerful series we discuss Mikey’s cancer diagnosis, specifically testicular cancer. Mikey is vulnerable and is an open book for questions about his diagnosis, mental health, friendships and family. After meeting Mikey on social media a few months back we realized Mike is special. His willingness to help men is unmatched, Mike is true to himself and is as kind and genuine as they come. With all that has happened in Mike’s lifetime it would be so easy to give up, but Mikey keeps fighting, interviewing Mikey is what this podcast is all about, being able to open up, discuss serious issues in order to promote a space where men can heal from deep trauma. The first step is talking about it, to a therapist, psychologist, family member or trusted friend. I can describe Mikey as the rock that falls in the pond, there will be a ripple effect from his actions, the ripple will no doubt influence other men to discuss serious and impactful issues rather than bottling the emotions inside creating a combustible cocktail. In this series we discuss his cancer diagnosis and sexual abuse. These are topics men have a difficult time discussing, at times listening to Mikey discuss his journey was heartfelt. I experienced a variety of emotions sadness (yes, I was holding back tears quite a few times), anger towards his abusers, but most of all happiness and gratitude because Mikey wouldn’t let me go too long without making me laugh. This is a true testament to the man Mikey V is, kind, caring and compassionate. I have never met anyone like this beautiful human and Mikey will always be a friend to us here at Men’s Health Unscripted. We discuss some very sensitive topics in this episode, we ask to come with an open mind and respect Mikey for what he is doing here, this is one of the most difficult things a man can do, but Mikey does it beautifully with dignity and courage. My life will forever be impacted from this interview, Mikey taught me to always be grateful and look for joy even in the most difficult situations. Thank you Mikey for allowing me to hold space for you, we are always here for you.If you want to find Mike: Instagram: @Cancer_JourneyWitMikeyV--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/menshealthunscripted/support

Welcome to another episode of Men's Health Unscripted, the podcast where we bring you the latest information and insights on men's health. Patrick and Cam discuss the proliferation of GLP-1 antagonist drugs (semiglutide (Ozempic/ Wegovy), used for weight loss.

These drugs work by slowing down the digestion process, making you feel full for longer periods of time. But, as pharmacists, we're always cautious about the use of any medication, especially when it comes to weight loss. We'll be discussing the benefits and risks of these drugs, and we'll also explore the lifestyle changes that can help with weight loss. We'll also talk about how these drugs can fit into a comprehensive weight loss program. So, join us for this informative and engaging episode of Men's Health Unscripted, and learn more about the use of GLP-1 antagonist drugs for weight loss. We have grown so much in a year, last year we attended as students, this year we exhibited Men's Health Unscripted for all 6000 in attendance and we did not disappoint. Synapse Summit is a massive event in Tampa, FL that celebrates innovation and technology, and if you ask us there is nothing more innovative than men's health and giving men a space to feel heard, judgement free and celebrated for courage and vulnerability. There is background noise, we are going crazy talking to everyone, taking funny photos, did not stay at our exhibit table hardly at all, pretty much broke all the rules but we got some great footage that is not able to be duplicated. Men were approaching our tables in droves to talk and we got many men to open up about tough experiences, share about their lives, skip the small talk and get to the fuggin Men's Health already conversations men need to have.Give us a follow on social media and where ever you listen to podcasts. Bill Ranshaw is a great friend of the show, Emmy award winning documentary filmmaker and overall awesome human. Bill has not been on in a while, so you know, we've got some serious catching up to do. Bill Ranshaw is the host of the White Collar Awakening podcast and men's mental health advocate. Bill first appeared on the MHU podcast on Episode 17 where he discussed his recovery from porn addiction, what porn does to the dopamine and other neurotransmitter pathways in the brain and how porn negatively impacted his life and most importantly relationships. Bill poured his heart out in Episode 17, and we were moved by his vulnerability discussing such a touchy subject. Bill's second appearance came some time later on Episode 22, where he discusses the importance of mental health, human connection, accountability, and vulnerability. We could talk to the guy all day, Bill unpacks so much wisdom in an easily digestable form. So here we are, episode 67 of a 2 part podcast. Bill is discussing how psychadelics impacted him in addiction recovery. We know there is a lot of skepticism and controversy in this space, but there is also a lot of research being done. So we have to say nothing on this podcast is medical advice, but we would not be good scientists, pharmacists, and advocates if we did not toe dip in some controversial topics once in a while. Studies are being performed on psychadelic mushrooms in a few states like Colorado (where Bill lives which gives him legal access to psychadelic mushrooms) and Oregon to treat PTSD, addiction and other mental health issues, these treatments are done safely and under the supervision of professionals. In part 1 of this podcast, Bill reintroduces himself to our audience, discusses how porn impacted him, updates us on his recovery, and introduces psychadelics to our audience. We have not discussed a topic like psychadelics on the podcast before, so this was definitely a learning experience for us. Pat and Dan Behan dive back into some wrestling but this week we are covering addicition. This podcast will discuss substance dependence mostly in wrestling in the 90s. How addicition impacts not only the life of one suffering but the fiends and family members around them and we discuss how some wrestlers have helped others to overcome these issues. The first part was a hit and we felt we got a lot of good feedback so we are continuing with Part 2 and 3 (coming soon). We hope some of the discussions we have shed some light on substance abuse and the impact it can have on the ones we care about.

Elise Micheals is a mens mental health coach and we specifically reached out to her due to her awesome messages for men on her social media platforms. Elise coaches men on many aspects of men's mental health and we appreciate her for it. Elise helps men overcome past traumas, toxic relationships and other mental health struggles. Starting Men's Health Unscripted we focused primairily on metabolic disease states, and physical ailmentsbecause we saw these issues with many patients in our pharmacy practice. But the system changed because we listen to you guys and what you want help with, many men have asked us about toxic relationships and being weary of opening up due to their vulnerabilities being used against them. These are tough topics and we really do not have all the answers, but we find the people that can start helping you and us put these important pieces together. This was a lot of fun and very insightful for us and we know there is a ton of value in our conversation with Elise, we hope you enjoy. Topics discussed include:
Vulnerability, effective forms of communication, toxic relationships, opening up, setting boundaries and why nice guys may or may not finish last.

Dan Behan from Episode 58 is back on the show but in a much more light hearted way. You may know him from Episode 58 where he shares his expereinces in battling cancer. Dan was introduced to the show by Joe Foarile, both men bonded in their battle with cancer at the Sloan Kettering institute and we are fortunate to have him on for antoher round, but with a twist. Dan and Patrick are die hard wrestling fans and its pretty much unavoidable to get them together without discussing some good ole rasslin. However, we do it with purpose here at Men's Health Unscripted, there is actually a lot of men's health or lack there of in the sport of Pro Wrestling. Dan and Patrick are breaking some of these components down in wrestling because its relatable and we believe with a frame of reference this topic can be easily digestable. This is a little off our typical format but we feel its informative and we had a lot of fun preparing and recording.

Patrick interviews friend of the show Dr Joe Pazona M.D. Dr Pazona is a urologist with a large portion of his practice dedicated to men's health. Dr Pazona has previously discussed telehealth and testosterone replacement therapy with us on episodes 11 and 23 respectively; those episodes being some of our most listened to and highly rated in the history of Men's Health Unscripted. Knowing Dr P always brings the most engaging discussions to the podcast and is a true master of his craft (If he had a baseball card his vasectomy stats would be Hall of Fame worthy) we decided it was finally time to discuss vasectomies.
Currently, our political climate affecting reproduction has been a very hot topic here in The States, bringing interest in vasectomy to an all time high, we probably should have discussed this sooner but here you have it. We have a great host, great topic and have the opportunity to set the record straight on vasectomy, there are plenty of myths and misinformation out there and we are grateful to have an experienced practitioner like Dr P take us through the entire procedure, answer questions we may have and ensures we walk away with the knowledge necessary to make an informed decision. Thank you Dr Pazona for taking the time to educate us on a very important men's health topic.

Are you sober curious? Maybe wanting to cut back or eliminate alcohol from your diet/ lifestyle? We have created the podcast for you. Pat and Joe welcome Brock Laramee on the podcast to discuss sobriety, specifically, sobriety from alcohol. In the words of Mike Tyson in the Hangover, "We've all done dumb sht when we're fcked-up," here at Men's Health Unscripted we have recently turned away from drinking alcohol for many reasons. These reasons include the health consequences (brain, liver, metabolic, mental health, etc.), false social aspects, poor decision making and no hangovers just to name a few. We wanted to take this opportunity at different times during our sober journeys to discuss some of the things that made us quit drinking alcohol, some of the social aspects of quitting alcohol, alternatives to drinking and to provide a support system for anyone that wants to slowdown or stop all together. Whether your goal is to do a 30 day detox, sober for life or anything in between we are here to help and support that journey. In this podcast we discuss spirituality vs. religion, where to go when seeing a connection to a more spiritual presence i.e. God, the universe, religious practices etc and somethings we can do to step into a spiritual practice.

After a hiatus during our fourth year rotations Patrick and Cam are back with a fun interview. Dr Jorge Reveron is a naturopathic doctor that has dedicated a large portion of his practice to men's health. Dr Jorge shares how he got into men's specific healthcare, explains metabolic syndrome, men's mental health, testosterone and much more. Naturopathic medicine is an interesting and up and coming field that focuses on prevention and a holistic approach to patient care. We were relatively uneducated on this field so we had to call in the expert to educate us, many states are starting to recognize naturopathic medicine practitioners will prescribing abilities, while some may practice under an acupuncture license in the states where their practice is not completely recognized.

Tom Keyburn is the founder of One Man at a Time, a non-profit (501c) dedicated to providing free PSA testing for guys. Tom, a prostate cancer survivor, is fueled by his experience with prostate cancer and wants to ensure every man has access to quality education and safe testing. Tom is back sharing his life experiences, wisdom and thoughts on men's health. Tom shares many of his experiences with breaking the stigma of men's health along with his struggles and triumphs. Tom has meant so much to us since we met him we wanted to promote his efforts, so on May 31, 2021 we held an event called Pancakes for Prostates here in Tampa, FL and raised some money for PSA testing. During the interview we also found out Tom's team tests for testosterone and food allergies. One man at a time will even hook up a vitamin shot for a small fee. Tom puts a ton of work into coordinating doctors, lab work and fees to make his events run smoothly and we wanted to help make that easier. Like most of the world, Tom's events were shut down through 2020 and a good portion of 2021. Working through a pandemic has been tough for everyone, why not work together with your friends to have fun and make something cool happen for dudes that need their prostates checked. Let’s talk about one of our favorite topics: the prostate!
Positioned below the bladder and surrounding the urethra, the prostate is a small, walnut-sized gland that functions to produce seminal fluid (think of a fluid that helps nourish and transport sperm cells). Fellas (ladies, too), we have to take care of this unsung hero! So how do we do that? We have to consider our diet and lifestyle choices that may impact prostate health.
Two main prostate problems men should be aware of are benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer. BPH is essentially an enlargement of the prostate. Recall, the prostate sits below the bladder and surrounds the urethra, so an increase in prostate size may block urine flow, which is why men with BPH may experience pain or difficulty urinating. These urinary symptoms may be an indicator of an enlarged prostate and require the attention of a physician. Examples of common drugs used to treat BPH and its symptoms are tamsulosin and finasteride. Prostate cancer can present with the same urinary troubles or no symptoms at all! That is why it is so important to remain active in monitoring your health and take action for men’s health. Treatment extends beyond medication and typically consists of radiation, surgery, and chemotherapy. We have covered this topic extensively in our podcasts, but we cannot deliver a message as moving as our guest Kim Burns Cummings. Check out her father’s story in our podcasts section.
A stigma surrounding men’s health is that in order to check your prostate’s health, it requires a doctor to snap on those gloves (we all can hear that “snap” right now) and perform a digital exam. A more preferable route is a blood sample taken via a finger-prick. This blood sample can be used to detect for levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA). PSA levels tend to be individualized but elevated trends may indicate prostate problems. Yearly PSA exams are now being recommended to men as young as 35 years old. They are relatively cheap and can be done from the comfort of your home by companies such as imaware.
Since we love to discuss preventative measures for ultimate prostate health, here are some of our favorite sources of nutrition for optimal prostate health!

The always amazing Dr. Pazona (Board Certified Urologist) discusses all things testosterone as we continue our exploration into men's hormone therapy. Hormone replacement therapy is something that was barely brushed over in pharmacy school, this mostly consisted of learning about birth control medications for women (much more common in practice than testosterone replacement therapy). Testosterone is a critically important topic for men. The male sex hormone influences more than just libido, it plays a role in muscle mass, production of blood cells, bone mass and fertility. Testosterone is the chemical that makes us men and Dr. P is one of the experts we trust to bring the highest quality information to our viewers.
