Today we discussed parts of the “Shut the Door” Speech by DuRant Smith. We analyzed the speech by picking out acts of dehumanization and how we’ve seen this in our modern era today!
Today we discussed our annotations on the Andrew Jackson Speech about “Indian Removal”. We discussed how the Indian Removal Act violates Native Americans’ “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness” unalienable rights.
Today we discussed some background history, the transition for Sandra’s family with moving from Rwanda to the United States (Rochester, NY), and the difficulties for her family to fit in and understand American culture.
Today we discussed logos, ethos, and pathos examples found in Dr. MLK’s “I Have A Dream” speech!
Today we discussed background history to better understand a part of Sandra and her family’s life, along with the traumatic massacre which occurred in Sandra’s childhood years, and the points in Sandra’s life where her innocence fell apart.
