Barnabas, a sacrifice by Timothy, and Paul’s return visit to strengthen the new disciples. Listen in to prepare for 3 ministry realities so you’re not caught off guard.
Before the Holy Spirit came upon the early disciples they were in an upper room devoting themselves to prayer. The same Holy Spirit indwells every believer today. But we still believe prayer is a crucial way to prepare for what God wants to do in our lives! Join us as we confidently go before God’s throne of grace through Jesus our High…
On September 10, Charlie Kirk was assassinated. The darkness hit its target but John 1:5 assures us it cannot overcome the Light of Jesus Christ. Listen to learn more of what the Bible says about overcoming.
What should you do when people idolize you? When they demonize you? When they believe and are saved? Gain wisdom to handle the mixed reviews by observing the ministry of Paul and Barnabas in Lystra and beyond.
rejection the pendulum swung wildly. He and Barnabas persevered because they lived to please the Lord, not the crowds. As you listen, we pray their example encourages you to persevere today.
Did you know Paul customized his messages? He never changed God’s truth. But the way he shared it with Jews was not the same way he shared it with Gentile pagans. Listen in to learn how we can build bridges between the gospel and the groups we share with today.
Which better describes the things you do for God? Paul’s first missionary journey did not come out of a vacuum. Rather it came from a man and a church that was abiding in Christ. Listen to learn how to abide in Christ and bear His fruit today.
Who would you rather be? Peter in prison awaiting execution or King Herod giving a speech and being exalted by the crowd as a god? Hold your answer until you’ve heard this message from Acts 12.
Unity is given to the church by God. But maintaining it is up to us. Listen to see how two very different groups of believers in Antioch and Jerusalem modeled 4 tools that keep unity from falling into disrepair.
Unity is a buzzword. But what sets Biblical unity apart? It is based on God’s Word, God’s leading, and God’s work. And in the end, Biblical unity always brings glory to God. See how this played out when Peter explained Cornelius to the church in Jerusalem.
Cornelius had many things going for him. But he was missing what mattered most. Listen in to see how faithful, available, and teachable Peter brought Cornelius the message of the only One who could meet his deepest needs.
The cultural wall between the Jews and Gentiles seemed insurmountable. Listen in to hear how God worked in Cornelius and in Peter to prepare for a gospel breakthrough.
We live in a world that groans in pain. Listen to hear how the Lord used Peter to bring hope in the face of paralysis and death. Then ponder the reality that the Lord wants us to spread His hope today.
Saul’s conversion, early ministry, and pursuit of Christ provide insight on the past salvation, present walk, and future hope of the believer.
Saul, convinced he was serving God, was on his way to Damascus to ravage Christ followers. Little did he know he was about to become one! A voice from heaven changed everything with the shocking statement, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.”
(Apologies for some audio issues at the start but they clear up shortly into the sermon) We have a missionary God who cares not only for crowds but for individuals. Listen to see how God’s preparation, Philip’s cooperation, and the Spirit’s leading play into an Ethiopian’s salvation. And think of the exciting truth that God’s not done. He still wants to use…
R Kent Hughes wrote, “Following the church through Acts is like following a wounded deer through a forest. Drops of blood mark the trail.” Stephen’s martyrdom marked the beginning of intense persecution. But as believers fled, something wonderful happened: They spread the good news to some shocking places. Listen in to hear how salvation came to Samaria and learn some important lessons…
Stephen continues talking about the controversial ramifications of Jesus being the risen Messiah. At the end he drives it home with a pointed accusation aimed at the Sanhedrin. The results teach us deep lessons about the source and results of faithfulness in the life of the believer.
Stephen knew Jesus is the risen Messiah. He also knew this had radical impact on the way Jews should worship God, view their ancestors, and engage their temple and law. Talking about it got him dragged in front of the Sanhedrin. Listen in to hear how his history lesson from their own Scriptures paved the way to his main point.

You might be surprised at the early church’s reaction when Peter and John told them how they were dragged before the Sanhedrin and told not to speak of Jesus any longer. Listen in to see what the early church’s reaction was. Is yours the same when trials hit?
If those in authority or popular opinion dictate that Christians remain silent about Jesus, what should we do? Today Peter and John show the way as they are examined by the highest court in the land.
Peter didn’t hesitate to call out the guilt of those who crucified Jesus. But he quickly shows that the same crucifixion which reminds sinners of our guilt is also God’s provision for our salvation.
Are we thankful people? The early church was (Acts 2: 46-47). In this service we visit a Psalm of thankfulness and explore how to be thankful today. You’ll also enjoy some testimonies.

Listen in as we trace the Holy Spirit’s power through the Old Testament, the earthly ministry of Jesus, and in the lives of believers today. Then we’ll ask a very important question: What is my role in all of…
How well do you know the Holy Spirit? Some have never heard Him preached about. Some have serious misunderstandings. Join us as we seek to introduce Him properly and clear up some of the confusion.
Peter and Judas had so much in common: They both spent 3 years with Jesus and at the end they both sinned against him in horrendous ways. But in Acts 1 we see them on very different paths. What was it that made the difference? Listen to this message to find out.
Jesus ascended. Then the believers waited 10 days for the promised Holy Spirit. Check out this message to learn 3 things that characterized them as they waited. Is the church characterized by the same three things today?

An honest look at life tells us we are sinful and God is holy. If we are to have a relationship with Him it’s going to require a mediator, an advocate, a go-between. Today an angelic message to an unlikely group reminds us that Jesus is just the mediator we need!

We’ll also close with a real life story of someone who started out a hothead but ended up being mightily used of God.
“Be Nice.” How many times have you heard that? But you won’t find it in the Bible. You will find kindness over 200 times. What’s the difference? And who specifically should I be kind to? Join us in Proverbs as God’s wisdom provides these answers and more.

If you’ve ever ordered at Subway you know that life is full of decisions! Seriously though, what about the bigger choices? How many of us would appreciate some guidance when we’re at the crossroads? Listen in for some help from Proverbs.

We live inside out – from the heart. Listen in to discover what the heart is from a Biblical perspective. You’ll be reminded that God looks at the heart, how to guard your heart, and how to be careful with the hearts of others.

The invitations of wisdom and folly are everywhere! And sometimes their invitations sound very similar. Listen in to learn how to spot the differences and accept the right invitation
Jesus made it clear that relationships are central to life. Proverbs tells us to live wisely. If we put the two together, we reach a logical conclusion: Biblical wisdom is relational! Join us in Proverbs 8 as we unpack this truth in a special way. It may just help you better appreciate God’s relationship with you and deepen your relationships with others!
If Wisdom is calling to us all, why is wisdom so rare? We try to find it in the world or seek God’s wisdom for the sake of its benefits. However, wisdom is a gift from God, seek Him because we love Him and He will give us all we need.
Did you know there is an enemy hunting the believer? Make a plan or the evil one will be happy to make one for you. Gain wisdom to stay on the narrow path of Jesus, avoid the snares of the evil one, and fully enjoy the free life Christ purchased for you at Calvary.
Do any of us really need more trouble in our lives? In this second section on adultery Solomon encourages us to steer clear of sexual immorality because it’s more trouble than it’s worth.
Solomon spent most of 3 chapters warning against the dangers of adultery. In this, the first, he challenges to be faithful to the Lord and our spouses. Discover how to enjoy, protect, and invest in your own spouse instead of someone else.
Solomon breaks down the anatomy of wisdom from top to bottom. He encourages us to use our ears, mouth, eyes, and feet wisely. Above all else he urges us to guard our hearts.
There is a great problem. Just because someone in one generation trusts in Christ and His wisdom is no guarantee those who follow them in the next generation will. Thankfully God has a grand plan: that one generation passes it on to the next. In this way God’s praise will be perpetuated! Praise God for all who pass it on – including…
Good parents aim to protect their children from unnecessary falls. But when a parent says, “Do not”, the child often says, “Why Not?” Today Solomon provides his son with some of each. If we listen in we’ll discover how God’s wisdom brings stability for our path and even guides us as we navigate relationships with our neighbors.
Monster truckers drive boldly because they trust their steel roll cage. Wisdom is not just knowledge. It is a matter of who we trust. When it comes to life, do you have a roll cage worth trusting?
When you stand at a fork in the road there is often a wise path and an unwise path. How do you know which way to go? What is our part to play when it comes to wisdom? What is God’s? If these questions hit close to home then Proverbs 2 is for you.
Please RSVP. Common words with an invitation. Today Solomon tells his son and us about 3 invitations: one from a father, one from temptation, and one from wisdom itself. The important question for those who wish to walk in wisdom is… how will we respond to each one?
If someone asked you, “What is wisdom?” what would you say? Biblical wisdom is closely connected to 4 realities. Listen to find out what they are and how to begin (or continue) your own quest for wisdom.

“The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God…” So Mark begins.
In a time of angst and longing, miles from the capital city, a way of hope is prepared in hearts for the powerful Son of Man who “came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Peter had a calling from Jesus Himself to strengthen believers. In this passage he does that very thing by calling us to appreciate our resources in Christ and our responsibility to make the most of them by faith.
In times of trouble the Chief Shepherd’s flock must follow Him together in God’s designed order. Together we are to practice humility and cast our anxiety on the Lord who cares for us.
How? Peter calls on believers in the middle of trials to”entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.”
When we realize we live on the brink of eternity it brings urgency to our lives which shapes our attitudes and actions.
If we’re going to rise from the quicksand this world is sinking in we must cling to hope in our risen Lord Jesus Christ.
Standing Firm isn’t just for when we step out the door. Ideally it begins in our relationships at home. Here Peter passes on marriage wisdom straight from the heart of God.
It may sound strange but standing firm sometimes means submitting, serving, and suffering.
What do PB & J Sandwiches have to do with life? How can you rise above the election year yuck? What is real life? Listen in to find out.
Holiness goes far deeper than merely avoiding sins.
It is becoming more and more like our Heavenly Father.
The Christ follower in this world lives in a constant paradox. We are elect but we are also exiles. We suffer grievous trials but glorious treasure is promised. We love a Savior we have not yet seen. We are both beat up and blessed beyond our wildest imaginations. To persevere we must have the proper perspective.
In this break from the usual we tried to put ourselves in the Sunday gathering of a 1st Century church that just received the Apostle Paul’s letter and couldn’t wait to hear what it said…
Today when someone mentions the Bible in a conversation about current events one common retort is, “Oh…is that the same Bible that condones slavery?”
The “question” is sometimes intended as a checkmate. The one who mentioned the Bible is supposed to shut up and walk away ashamed they even dared to mention such an irrelevant and tasteless book.
But what if we really explored the question? What if we went deeper than the tweets and the sound bites? Does the Bible condone slavery? Or does it actually contain truth designed to destroy slavery and racism from the inside out?
It’s not always the right time to talk. There are moments when words are uncalled for. Sometimes a hug, shared tears, and a listening ear are all that’s appropriate. And at the end of the day, there’s nothing like the presence of Christ to help us when we hurt. But when the questions are raised and it is time to talk, thankfully the Scriptures are not silent and offer some important truths to hold onto.
In desperate times we feel weak and helpless. Sometimes it is then we fall down and cry out to the God “who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.”
Then, as He helps believers grab onto the mind-bending reality of Christ’s love and the dynamic power of the Spirit within, we begin to realize that, even in our weakness, we have been given mighty strength from above for such a time as this.
Passively waiting for God to automatically make you more like Jesus is like taking a nap on a weight bench and expecting to wake up ripped.

Not all false teaching leads to orgies and seances. Satan is way too crafty for that.
Some of it actually sounds kind of holy: “Really spiritual people don’t do this. If you’re really committed, you won’t do that.”
But in the end it can cause us to doubt the goodness of God and his gifts.
Check out this message to raise your awareness and learn how gratitude can protect you from this sneak attack.

Collecting offering and ushering.

Men and women are both created in God’s image, are equally valuable in His eyes, and have a significant impact to make.

There’s a lot of talk these days about fake news.
Paul’s concern in the city of Ephesus was fake teaching.

It seems that for every person who keeps their word there’s one who abandons their family to chase their idols. For every faithful friend there’s one who hits the road when things hit the fan.
As a result, trust comes hard for many of us – maybe even trusting God.
But one message of Christmas is this: Our loving Father always keeps His Word.
Listen to find hope in His rich promises – and His faithfulness in keeping them.

I love real life stories about God’s grace, don’t you?
Take 5 minutes and listen to this man’s story from our Easter service.
You’ll hear how God pursued a relationship with a soldier who took all of life’s glory for himself and mocked the Bible repeatedly.
You’ll hear about a Savior named Jesus who really did come to seek and save the lost.
If you want to learn more, check out this link: The Story
After Peter denied Jesus the third time, Jesus looked lovingly at him. And Peter wept bitterly because of his failure and sin. We’ve all been there: broken and full of regret. Loved by a Savior who died to forgive our sin but wishing we had not given in yet another time. Could it have been different for Peter? Can it be different for us? Is it possible to overcome temptation? And if so, how?

We do it when we drive. But do we do it with our beliefs? In this message, Jesus shows us that blind spots about the afterlife and who He is can cause us to miss out. But it doesn’t have to be this way! Will you receive His truth and take the peace, forgiveness, and help He offers you today?

It’s another election year. Religion and politics don’t make for smooth table talk but Jesus doesn’t care. He steps right into the hornet’s nest when he says, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” As we unpack what he said, we’ll explore our own worldview on God and Government. If someone had only your actions and words to go on, which camp would they say you fall into?
1) God is Everything & Government is Nothing
2)Government is Everything & God is Nothing
or
3) Government is Part of God’s Plan?

When Jesus talks about the high cost of following Him some natural questions arise: Why should I? Why would I?
We will only understand Jesus’ call to discipleship when we marvel at his breathtaking grace and sacrifice for us.
Once we rest in that, it makes sense to say with His faithful followers throughout history:
“I love Jesus more than I love anyone else.”
“I’m willing to suffer for Jesus.”
“I’m in it for the long haul.”
and
“I surrender all to Jesus.”

Our Father won’t quit until he has a full table at his Kingdom feast!
In this message, we’ll marvel at his relentless, pursuing love for sinners like you and me.
And we’ll see how living in humility, loving those who cannot repay us, and inviting them to the feast reflects His loving heart.
Below is the video referred to in the sermon (just scroll down and click on the play button to watch):

If you’re going to enjoy a party, you’ve got to know where it’s at and how to get there.
In this passage Jesus gives us clear directions to the Kingdom of God.
But will we follow them?
08/09/15
Mustard seeds and yeast: Small, every day, easily overlooked.
God’s kingdom sometimes feels that way in a broken world.
But mustard seeds and yeast are full of promise and potential that will be realized.
And so is God’s Kingdom.
So don’t give up weary traveler. Hold on!
The Kingdom is growing. It’s spreading. You can be a part of it.
And one day it will shine in all it’s glory.
08/02/15
Ever wish someone would slow down long enough to see what you’re going through?
Jesus is that someone.
And in His perceptive eyes your need is not an interruption, but a divine appointment.
07/26/15
Lots of questions arise in the aftermath of suffering.
Many of them can be answered by journalists: what, when, where, who, how?
But one lingers on: Why?
Jesus’ addresses people with that very question in this passage.
Honestly, His answer may not be as satisfying as we like.
But it rings true.
07/19/15
Jesus hits this head on in our passage today.
Let’s just say He’s not the tame little pussy cat some of us think He is.
07/12/15
Jesus is coming back!
Ever wonder if or how this should affect your life today?
Good news! Jesus told us in this very passage.
07/5/15
Many times the gaze of our hearts is locked on targets that are much lower than what God would have us zoom in on.
And all too often the result is debilitating, choking, fruitless worry.
What if lifting our eyes up was the very thing that could help us move through this world in confidence and faith?
Want to know how?
Check out what Jesus says in this passage.
He wouldn’t say “Don’t worry” unless he knew there was a way to stop.
06/28/15
One of our greatest threats is undercover.
Religion often looks great on the surface. Indeed, there is a good version of it (James 1:27).
But there is also a version of it that can enslave and mislead.
In this passage, Jesus speaks unbridled, stinging words to those who traffic in this deadly counterfeit to faith in Jesus.

In the thick of the battle, Jesus teaches his disciples a crucial lesson: “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”
We must stay vitally connected to the commander if we are to conquer.

Our ultimate foes are invisible. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t real.
Jesus faced them and overcame them.
And in His power,so can we.
Let’s see what His encounters then can teach us for today.
05/31/15
The upcoming chapters are filled with conflict for Jesus and the disciples.
It’s always essential to connect with the commander before we hit the battle field.
Let’s listen in as Jesus instructs his disciples in the model, the mindset, and the motivation of prayer.
05/24/15
Being or doing?
Listening or going?
Which is it?
Maybe it’s not an either or after all.
Jesus’ interaction with two first century sisters teaches us how to find the Biblical balance.
05/17/15
“Oh no He didn’t!”
“Oh yes He did!”
Jesus had a way of telling stories that opened some people’s eyes and made other people angry all at the same time.
The Good Samaritan was a classic example.
We’ll try our best to hear it through his listeners’ ears and see what He’s saying to us about the holy art of being a neighbor.
05/10/15
Multiplication.
Many of us hated it in school. But Jesus loves it when it comes to making disciples!
Let’s join these 72 on the mission and see what more we can learn from the Master.
05/03/15
Jesus’ call doesn’t always come when we want it to.
And it doesn’t always lead where we want to go.
Sometimes it means letting go of something we love.
But the company can’t be beat.
04/26/15
Don’t you hate it when you go to a buffet, then you get home and someone tells you about how amazing something they tried was – and you didn’t even know it was there?!
No huge deal when it comes to dinner.
But what if there are things we’re missing out on in our walk with Jesus?
I don’t know about you – but I want to grab onto everything He has to offer!
04/12/15
Did I pass? Will you marry me? Did the test come back positive?
There are many important questions in life.
At the top of the list is one Jesus asks us all: “Who do you say I am?”
Eternity hinges on your answer.
04/05/15
Tired of quick fixes that leave you empty?
Jesus said He is the only Bread that satisfies.
Have you tried Him?
03/29/15
Good training always leads to a launch.
As the disciples walk in Jesus’ footsteps, we are reminded how amazing it is that Jesus invites us to partner with Him!
03/22/15
Before we go out and spread the good news, our trust tank needs to be filled.
That’s why Jesus shows us that complete healing and even resurrection from the dead are at his fingertips.
Preached by Worship Pastor Aaron Rosberg
03/15/15
Before we go out and spread the good news, our trust tank needs to be filled.
That’s why Jesus goes out of his way to assure us that He’s powerful enough to set anyone free.
03/08/15
What does Jesus expect of us as we share the good news?
Check this out before you go.
03/01/15
What results should we expect when we spread the good news?
Jesus gives his disciples (and us) a realistic look at exactly what we’re getting into.
02/22/15
“Come as you are” is a great invitation, not a final destination.
Jesus has transformation on his mind.
02/15/15
Belief: It’s not always easy.
But there’s a difference between genuine doubt and prideful unbelief.
This message provides some tips for telling the difference between the two…
and some hope for the struggle.
02/08/15
Ever try to decide who Jesus should have compassion on and who He shouldn’t? Good luck with that!
Our Savior reaches out to all kinds of people.
Even people like you and me.
02/1/15
Jesus cares not only what we do but why we do.
He’s not content with our actions. He’s after our hearts.
01/18/15
“Beast mode.” Sportscasters use this phrase to describe a player who’s playing on a much higher level than he or she usually does. In this passage Jesus sets the bar for his followers impossibly high. Then he tells us to reach it: Love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you! Sounds like love in beast mode to me. Better yet, God mode. And it is only possible for those who are born again and walking in the power of the Spirit. In this message we’ll talk about Strong Love (which overcomes evil with good), Supernatural Love (which looks up before it looks out) , and Sober Love (which looks in before it looks out).
1/18/15
Remember in Finding Nemo when the clownfish Marlin is listening to Squirt the little Sea Turtle? Marlin says: “”It’s like he’s trying to speak to me, I know it! You know you’re really cute, but I don’t know what you’re saying!” Sometimes when we read Jesus’ words in the Beatitudes, (“Blessed are the poor in spirit, Blessed are those who weep now, Blessed are you when people hate you”, etc…) we can end up feeling kind of the same way: “It’s like He’s trying to speak to me…I know it! But I don’t know what He’s saying,” In this message, we’ll unpack these loaded statements and wrestle with the question: Is the problem His words or our worldview?
1/11/15
Jesus was was about to choose 12 men to be his apostles. But before he made that huge decision, he pulled an all-nighter praying to His Father. In this very short message, we’ll be reminded that prayer before ministry is still essential for the body of Christ today. (This was initially shared right before a time of prayer for our missionaries around the world and missional communities right here at home).
1/4/15
That’s not a typo. As Jesus tangles with Pharisees in a field and a synagogue about the Sabbath rest, He will show them (and us) that He is Lord of the Sabbath: True rest is only found in Him. So,how about adopting this for a New Year? “In 2015 I will rest in Jesus Christ.”
12/28/14
Did you know that our favorite passages about the birth of Jesus give us glimpses into what drove His ministry years later? In this message, He meets Matthew the tax collector and his “sinner” friends. As he does, we’ll see the promises of the birth passages become reality. And we’ll discover that He continues to offer new life to all who will receive Him today.
12/21/14
What kind of expectations do you have of Jesus? As we look at his moving meeting with a paralytic, we’ll examine ourselves: Do we come to Him bold and hopeful that He can make a difference in our lives? Or have we become crusty and cynical? Do we expect great things? Or have we settled for far less?
12/14/14
There is power in a touch. Especially the touch of Jesus Christ. As we unpack His powerful encounter with an unclean leper, we’ll ask a couple of questions: What do you need to bring to Jesus for His healing touch? And Who are the “untouchables” God is calling you to reach?
12/7/14
What’s the most important thing in your life? What does your heart beat for? In this message, we’ll see a defining encounter between Jesus and Peter that helped Peter answer these questions. And along the way, we’ll ask ourselves the question: If someone could listen to my spiritual heartbeat would they hear the heart of Jesus?
11/30/14
Sometimes the sheer amount of suffering in the world can leave us overwhelmed. At that point, we are faced with a choice: become numb and jaded or become more like Jesus. As He comes to Capernaum, we’ll see how He responds to our suffering and how we can walk in His footsteps today.
11/23/14
Sometimes homecomings are awesome. Sometimes they are filled with rejection. In this message, we’ll see what happened when Jesus came home and preached. And in Jesus’ own message to his family and neighbors, we’ll see that God’s work is not only something we celebrate in the past or look forward to in the future. Jesus is setting captives free TODAY!
11/16/14
Hey Believer. Where do you find your identity? God tells us it is in found in Christ. But the world has told us to look a million other places. A quick look at Jesus’ baptism, genealogy, and temptation will show us who He is, who we are in Him, and how to fight when our identity comes under fire.
11/09/14
Ever have a come to Jesus moment? A moment where you’re confronted with some truth that wasn’t easy to hear, but you needed to hear? In this passage Israel has a come to Jesus moment when they meet fiery John the Baptist in the desert. As we look back on Israel’s come to Jesus moment, we’ll talk about what’s involved in a come to Jesus moment today…and the biggest obstacle to having one.
11/02/14
Jesus is fully God and God does not change or grow. But Jesus also became fully man. And growth is the normal way of things for men. In this passage, Luke gives us a glimpse into the childhood of Jesus which leaves us in head-scratching wonder of God in flesh. Join us as we see young Jesus of Nazareth grow in wisdom, in understanding of His relationship to his Heavenly Father, and in every day obedience as a human being. And then we’ll wrestle with the question: Are we growing in these areas as well?
10/26/14
The headlines seem to get worse and worse. Our personal lives are filled with drama and struggle. Is there any real cure for panic and worry? In this message, we’ll meet Simeon and Anna who show us exactly where to find the answer.
10.19.14
Ever feel like an unlikely candidate to experience God’s love or be used by Him in a powerful way? In this message, we’ll see how an unlikely entry for the King, His unlikely ancestry, and the unlikely messengers God chose to spread the word about His birth bring hope to all of us underdogs!
10.12.14
U2 front man Bono said, ““Music can change the world because it can change people.” In this passage, we’ll watch the joy inside Mary and Zechariah explode into songs that have been changing the world for two thousand years. We’ll also see that singing is normal for all of God’s children who are filled with His Spirit. Which begs the question: What song is in your heart today? (Includes an original song by Autumn Horstman)
10.05.14
Is it really possible for you to know what God has said and to know for certain that He will keep His Word? As Luke begins his account about Jesus, he tells us, “Yes.Yes it is!”
09.28.14
When it’s done right, theology (the study of God) is life changing. You could sum this up as “Because God…I Will”. As we take a panoramic view of where we’ve been in Daniel 1-6, we’ll see what Daniel and his friends believed about God – and how it changed their lives. Along the way, we’ll also discover how God’s faithfulness today can help us move with confidence into the future. (Includes slides for each chapter below to use in your own review or to share with a friend). Audio at very bottom.
08/31/14
The Bible teaches that we should live with a healthy fear of God. So what does a healthy fear of God look like? In this message, we’ll answer that question.
We’ll also identify three ways that we sometimes get away from the fear of God
Then we’ll close by wrestling with a crazy idea: Is it possible that having a healthy fear of God may actually bring more freedom into our lives? Hint: Jesus had something very important to say about that…
08/10/14
God is sovereign. You are not. Join guest speaker Pastor Jon Wolfinger in a crazy true story where you’ll see how God drove this home to powerful King Nebuchadnezzar. We’ll also see how obeying the truth in this passage can keep us from learning the hard way today.
07/27/14
In this message, we’ll wrestle with some hard questions: How does mature faith act when it meets a trial? What kind of God do I believe in? Do I find my significance in my kingdom or His? What’s my primary reason for following God: Because I love Him or to get what I want from Him? The example of 3 young men in the dark heart of Babylon will help us answer these questions and more.
07/13/14
Our apologies for the mic cutting in and out. It happens occasionally throughout this message (especially near the beginning) but you will still be able to catch the majority of it.
What comes to mind when you think of wisdom? A person alone on a mountain thinking deep thoughts? Sounds nice. But most of us need some wisdom in the rat race of life. Like now. Like, “If I don’t figure out what to do here, I am in deep trouble.” Where do you turn for this kind of rubber meets the road know-how? How would you describe a wise person? In this message we’ll check out four marks of a wise person. And along the way, we’ll stand in jaw-dropping awe of the God who knows all and offers His insight to those who seek Him.
07/06/14
Whether it’s a trial, temptation, or even God’s discipline, we often wrestle with our faith in the dark valleys of life. What we believe at those moments will determine whether or not we remain faithful to God. If we believe He has bailed on us, we will probably bail on Him. But if we believe that God remains our faithful Father, the Holy Spirit will help us make a bold stand for the truth and be tactful witnesses. We will see God’s power at work – even in the darkness.
Daniel 1
06/22/14
In his song “After the Music Stops” Lecrae asks a poignant question:
“After the show, after the set, after the music stops what’s next?
Will there be fellowship, prayer, disciples, will you open your bibles after the music stops.
After it’s over, after it ends, after the music stops, what then?
Will you understand that Christ is King? Or will you just like the words we sing?”
In this message we come to the end of Paul’s life and the book of Acts.
But in the words of Charles Spurgeon, “Luke did not write [Acts] simply to record ancient history. He wrote to encourage the church in every age to be faithful to the Lord and carry the gospel to the ends of the earth.”
Paul finished strong but God’s story and His mission continues.
And this leads to the question for all of us: After the sermon series stops, what’s next?
06/08/14
In this message we’ll journey with Paul from Fair Havens through the heart of a deadly storm to the safety of an island called Malta. Along the way we’ll see how God encouraged Paul and Paul encouraged those around him. Then we’ll explore how we too can shine God’s light on those who travel life’s road with us; whether we find ourselves at Fair Havens or in the middle of a storm.
05/25/14
Need some hope today? Ravi Zacharias said, “The absence of future hope has an amazing capacity to reach into the present and eat away at the structure of life, as termites would a giant foundation.” In other words, hope is kind of important! Check out this message and you’ll see that hope is confidence God will do what he has promised, real hope is only found in Jesus, and hope keeps us going in the middle of our trials. Hope you’ll check out this message for more!
05/11/14
Ever feel confused? You’re not alone!
In this message we’ll join Jesus and his confused disciples on a journey to Jerusalem.
We’ll discover that Comfort, Comparing ourselves with others, and Craving Recognition can all leave us confused about Jesus.
And along the way, as He teaches them, He will teach us as well: He will show us that there is clarity to be found – in Him.
04/20/2014
The answer to this question could forever change the way you look at your community and the world.
04/13/2014
God has laid down a framework for life in His Word: the Bible. There are 3 basic responses to this framework: 1. You can reframe it: change it to your liking or turn to a different story altogether. 2. You can obey it: line up your faith and obedience according to what God has said. Or 3. You can ignore it: drown it out because it makes you uncomfortable. Only one of these paths leads to the prize. The other two lead to disqualification. It was Paul himself who wrote: “Anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules.” (2 Timothy 2:5) Paul finished strong because he chose to obey God’s framework. Which of the 3 responses characterizes your life?
03/09/14
Can you imagine your life without worry? How much could the Holy Spirit do in and through you if worry was not in the way? In this chapter, we see that Paul’s total trust in God enabled him to finish strong. Paul was not afraid to die. Jesus encouraged Paul when he needed it. And God used all the people and situations around Paul to bring about His will. When you’re saved and on mission for Jesus, you are bulletproof until God says it’s your time to go. (And even when it is your time, you go to be with Him!) So what are you afraid of? Finish Strong!
02/23/14
Have you trusted in Jesus? Do you still tap into the passion you had when you began your race? Or has your race become a legalistic list of do’s and don’ts? In this chapter Paul tells the story of how Jesus met him and changed his whole life. And he shares it with an angry mob that just tried to kill him! Paul finished strong (even with his life on the line) because he never forgot how Jesus saved him. And this story constantly fueled his passion and love for Jesus. Do you remember why you started running? Or have you forgotten?
02/09/14
Acts 20 begins the final decade of Paul’s life. The final lap. The home stretch. At the end he was able to say, “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” So as we finish our own marathon in the book of Acts, we’ll be asking the question: “What does it look like to finish strong today?” In this message, we’ll listen in on Paul’s heart- wrenching goodbye to the elders of Ephesus. And we’ll see that finishing strong means setting an example, passing the baton, entrusting loved ones to God and his Word, and leaving well.
01/12/14
It was Charlie Brown who said “I think there must be something wrong with me Linus. Christmas is coming but I don’t feel the way I’m supposed to feel.” How many of us relate to him? We’re happy that Jesus came but overwhelmed by the weight of the war around us. Disease, death, broken relationships and financial hardship all sabotage our celebration. What do we do with this sadness? Join us as we trace the themes of Expectation, War, and Victory. Together, we’ll find hope and meaningful answers to this nagging question.
12/22/13
From stingy Scrooge to Get-Whatever-I Want-As Long-As- I’m-Nice Santa Claus, we carry around some warped perceptions of God. The Bible describes our generous God best in Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” Check out this short message to learn more about some specific ways our gracious God is amazingly generous with his children.
12/15/13
“It is better to give than to receive.” Do you know who said that? Jesus, the ultimate gift Himself. He said a lot of other things about giving as well. Check out this message to hear what He said about the Heart (God’s giving should lead to our own), the Smart (giving makes good investment sense), and the Start (giving really begins when we trust God) of giving.
12/8/13
Jesus and His Gospel provide the the only ultimate answers to the deepest needs of our world. Unfortunately, there are times that the church tries so hard to blend in that we hide the very One the world needs. In an attempt to be relevant, we sometimes lose the actual relevance of the Gospel. Check out this message to see how God showed the people in Ephesus that Jesus is the only one who can provide us with ultimate answers to our needs for belonging, significance, and direction. And then wrestle with the hard questions: Are we sharing that today? Or are we trying too hard to blend in?
11/24/13
Pastor Paul Trout shares that when it comes to making disciples, the enemy often uses discouragement and distraction to get us off mission. In this message, he looks at the way Jesus discipled his own followers through repeated encounters along the way. In the process, we learn that disciple making is not a one and done kind of deal. It takes perseverance. Jesus didn’t give up. Pastor Paul challenges us to follow in His footsteps.
11/17/13
It’s easy to look at all God did through guys like Peter and Paul and come away feeling like, “That’s really great. But I’m not an apostle. What can God do through me?” This passage will show you. We’ll look at how the Holy Spirit advanced God’s kingdom in Ephesus and beyond through three “non-apostles”: Priscilla, Aquila, and Apollos (all while Paul was away). We’ll also explore how a posture of teachability and teamwork can make us useful today.
11/10/13
Ever run into that brand of Christianity that says “If you feel weak or desperate, don’t you dare even say it. Put on a plastic smile, pretend like everything’s OK, and it will be?” Aside from being annoying, it’s just not Biblical. When Paul came to Corinth, he was (in his own words) weak, fearful, and trembling. How did he handle it? He was honest about his struggles. He persevered in the work God gave him. He desperately depended on God’s strength in his weakness. And you know what? God worked there in awesome ways. Check out this message to learn how to practice faith in your own hard times.

(Audio message at bottom of post)
A good carpenter sometimes has to clinch a nail to make it secure. That means after he drives it in, he turns over the two pieces of wood he is connecting and bends the nail with his hammer so it can’t slide out. When it comes to our connection with Jesus, trials, temptations, emotions, and fears can make any believer wonder, “Is it possible that somehow I’ve been disconnected from him?” “Will he ever let me go?”, “Am I really secure in him?” “How can I know?” In the audio message below, we will check out some unbreakable promises that Jesus makes to all who genuinely trust in him. As you listen, scroll through the pictures to see with your eyes how his promises are like nails driven in and clinched, never to come out again. We’ll also talk about how knowing this assuring truth should change your walk with Him. (Thanks to the late James Montgomery Boice for the illustration.)
Jesus and You (Disconnected)
The First Nail : “All those the Father gives me will come to me.” (Jesus’ promise in John 6:37)
The First Nail Clinched: “I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.” (Jesus’ Promise in John 6:39)
The Second Nail: “No one will snatch them out of my hand.” (Jesus’ promise in John 10:28)
The Second Nail Clinched: “My Father, who has given them to me is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.”
Jesus and You (Connected by Grace through Faith in Him): Held together forever by His unbreakable promises hammered in and clinched.
As believers, we eagerly wait for Jesus to return. But what do we do while we wait? When we see the moral decline of our culture, it is tempting to hide out and bury our heads in the sand. Athens was a city in decline when Paul was there waiting for Timothy and Silas. What did he do? He looked around. He engaged the culture. And he used their culture as a bridge to the truth about Jesus. Check out this message to learn how to follow in his footsteps.
10/13/13
A beautiful Fall day. A horse trough in a truck bed. And two women: Jennifer (brunette) and Brenda (blonde) who recently accepted Jesus proclaiming their love for Him through baptism.
See pics below and click on the audio to hear how God saved Jennifer.
This message was originally preached on a morning when we celebrated with God as 2 women who recently trusted Jesus to save them proclaimed their love for him through baptism. Psalm 40 tells a story that’s been repeated in millions if not billions of lives: We cry out to God in trust. He answers by saving us. Then we respond by praising Him, obeying Him, and telling others about Him. Hopefully we never lose our wonder and awe for a God who really is mighty to save.
09/29/13
Few things are as important to the growth of a Jesus follower than the Bible. Check out this message to learn some of the tools Paul used when he shared it. And learn what it looks like to receive it the way God wants you to. Consider this your invitation to a more effective witness in the world and a deeper conversation with God in his Word.
09/22/13
Is it possible to live with love, confidence, and peace even during difficult trials? “Yes. IF you turn to Jesus” is the answer Paul gave in his letter to the Philippians. Ironically (or supernaturally) he was in chains when he wrote to them about how Jesus is the source of our love, our confidence, and our peace. In a nutshell, Jesus was his life. And if it was true for Paul under arrest, it can be true for you; no matter what you’re going through today.
09/15/13
Whether it’s a friendship, your rights, or your plans, letting go is hard to do. The good news is when we let go of something for God, we can trust Him completely. Check out this message to see how Paul and his missionary team learned to let go and what it means for us today.
08/25/13
Patrick Henry’s famous quote was the heartbeat of our nations’ founders. Freedom is worth everything. It is true politically. It’s also true spiritually. How you respond when you come face to face with your sin will determine if you are free or not. Will you DENY your sin? Will you TRY to be made right on your own? Or will you RELY on the grace of God in Jesus Christ?
08/18/13
When you think of important meetings, what comes to mind? The signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776? Lee’s surrender to Grant at the Appomatox Courthouse which ended the civil war? In A.D. 49, Paul and Barnabas traveled 300 miles to Jerusalem for a meeting that would decide the fate of Christianity: Would it be a small sect of Judaism or a movement that would bring freedom in Christ to billions of Jews and Gentiles around the globe?
08/11/13
It’s always good to get an orientation when you start something new. As we follow Paul and Barnabas on their first missionary journey, we learn four things for when we go out on mission today: Count on Division, Count on the Message of God’s Goodness, Count on Other Believers, and Count on God to open the door of faith.
07/28/13
In the movie, The Neverending Story, Bastion was startled to realize that he was not only reading the book, he was a part of it. The same is true for us when it comes to God’s Neverending Story: The story of saving lost sinners and bringing them into relationship with himself. God’s story is not just dusty history or distant future. It goes on today and draws each one of us in. How will you respond? Check out how Paul drove this truth home in a synagogue 2000 years ago and what it means for us today.

As Paul set out on his first missionary journey, we can learn about our mission today. Check out this message to see how he and Barnabas were sent by a local church, how they came face to face with the enemy of the mission, and how God’s power won the battle. Don’t go it alone. Expect opposition. Trust in a God who is stronger. (Includes a story from a new missional community living this out today!)
07/14/13
Mission comes with friction: attack from the enemy, struggles with temptation, even disagreements in the church. In the face of this friction, encouragement is the oil that keeps the mission running. Check out how Barnabas encouraged the early church and what you and I can learn about being encouragers today. Are you an encourager? Who’s encouraging you?
06/08/13
In the early church, the Jewish Christians needed a reminder that the Savior didn’t only come to save them, but the Gentiles as well. Does the church today need a reminder that Jesus is not only for us? He came to seek and save the lost. Are we hoarding Him? Or are we sharing? (recording cut off early…sorry for the inconvenience)

Going out to serve in the name of Jesus? Check out these 4 “P’s” to keep in mind: Purpose, Partner, Posture and Prayer. Originally created for 40 teams from 6 churches that served on the 2013 Day of Service in Prescott, Arizona, this 15 minute “Before you Go” talk will help any time you serve.
05/18/13
Check out what happened when our Missionary God orchestrated visions, angels, and the voice of the Holy Spirit, Peter and the good news about Jesus to bring Cornelius into a relationship with Him: A momentous event which opened the door for the good news to go to all Gentiles. Then be blown away by the fact that He’s still making these connections today. And He wants to use you in the process! Are your eyes open?

How do you get a healthy green lawn? Don’t just pick and spray the weeds. Fertilize, feed, and water the grass so it thrives. The thicker the grass, the less room for weeds. The same is true in our spiritual lives. We must remove sins, but we can’t stop there. We need to feed and cultivate our relationship with God so it grows healthy and strong. Check out this message to see what Peter said about this in his letters to the church.
Peter traveled here and there, going wherever God led: like a tumbleweed blowing in the wind of the Spirit. As he went, God did the supernatural through him and many believed in Jesus. If you follow the Spirit’s lead in your own life, what kind of adventures will you roll into?
04/13/13
Useless preaching. Futile Faith. Christians enslaved by sin. Dead believers lost forever. Live however you want, because it all ends in the grave anyway. That’s the nightmare of life without the Resurrection. Thankfully, Paul shakes us awake and reminds us that our faith is based on the reality of a Savior who died for our sins, rose again, and appeared to many: Historical events that changed everything.
03/30/13
Too often we treat Christ’s death and resurrection like an exhibit at a museum. We come check it out once a year. Maybe we even shed a few tears. But then we move on with “life as normal”, seemingly disconnected from what we just looked at. But what happened that week in Jerusalem is not some dusty artifact. Check out this message to hear what a powerful difference the risen Jesus made in the life of a man named Saul and through him, our lives today.
03/24/13
Acts chapter 8 gives us a real-life example of two men who answered that question very differently from each other. As we look at Philip and Simon the Magician, ask God to show you what your life reveals about your own answer.
02/23/13
A.W. Tozer said what a person thinks about God is the most important thing about them. How’s your view of God? The story of Stephen shows us some bad news and some good news. Bad news first: A small view of God will cause you to miss out on some of what he wants to do in your life. The good news? If you have a big view of God, He will do things in your life for Him and His kingdom that you can’t even imagine. Check out this message for more.
Our journey through this world is filled with hope and danger. Psalm 121 is a traveling song sung in Israel as God’s people made the risky journey to the temple in Jerusalem to celebrate with God and his people. Like them, we will find strength for our own journey if we look to God, rest in Him, and trust that his good purposes will prevail in our lives.

Problems come in all shapes and sizes. Satan attacks individuals and churches. Disagreements, discouragement and depression can lead us to desperation. But don’t give up! Often the deepest darkness comes just before God makes a significant breakthrough.

If you had to pick three things that characterized the early church, what would you say? (Hint: The answer is not Cozy, Convenient, and Comfortable.) They went public with their faith. They spoke the words of life. And they made a decision about Jesus that radically shaped the way they lived. Check out this message for more.
1/12/13
Ananias and his wife Sapphira left us a clear and tragic reminder: When we give and serve, God cares more about the inward reality than outward appearances. What do you care more about? The reality God knows or what others see? Maybe if we found our significance in the truth that God loved us so much He sent His only Son , we wouldn’t feel the need to put on a show for those around us. Wouldn’t that be a refreshing way to live?
12/8/12
Until Acts 3, the early church enjoyed relative peace. Then Peter and John went and healed a crippled man. They were jailed and told to stop speaking in the name of Jesus. When they were released, they told the other Jesus followers what had happened. What do you think they did? Did they hold a protest in the town square? Seek to overthrow the government? Nope. They cried out to the Sovereign Lord of the universe in prayer. Their amazing prayer can radically shape the way we respond when our own lives are turned upside down.

God’s primary agent for hope and change in the world is not Democrat or Republican. It’s not socialism or capitalism. It’s not even solely American. It is the Church and the Gospel it carries. Check out this message to see what it means to be People of the Word and People of Fellowship – the world changers God intended His Church to be.
11/10/12
Do you wish more people would just say it like it is? Then you would love Peter’s preaching. When it comes to sharing the good news about Jesus, we can learn a few things from his first message.
10/27/12
Preachers think long and hard about how to introduce their sermons. Do I tell a joke? A story? Show a video? But at the end of the day, no one introduces a message like God Himself. When the Spirit came on the Day of Pentecost there was the sound of a violent wind, 120 believers had tongues of fire over their heads, and they spoke about God in different languages. No wonder the crowd wanted to hear what Peter had to say! Fast forward. Maybe if believers today looked and acted more like our supernatural Father, the world would be more interested in what our supernatural Father has to say. Just sayin…

What’s the difference between Judas (who hung himself) and Peter (who became a key leader in the Jesus movement)? Judas failed Jesus and Peter was perfect, right?
Wrong. They both failed Jesus in epic ways. The difference was where they went with their failure. How they handled it. What they did with it. And the same is true today. We all fail. The question is: Where do you go with your failure? Check out this message for more.
09/22/12
True love for others comes from breathing in God’s love for us. Check out this short message from I John to see what the simple act of breathing can teach us about receiving God’s love and passing it on to others.
09/15/12
Acts 1: 1 says that in the gospel of Luke, he recorded all that Jesus began to do and teach. That means his sequel (the book of Acts) records what Jesus continues to do and teach through his body, the church: the same church believers today are a part of! Check out this intro to our series on the book of Acts.
09/08/12
When you and God have a disagreement, who needs to change their mind? Easy answer. Not so easy to live out. Thankfully, God is patient with his children and has many ways to teach us. We don’t know if Jonah ever really agreed with God about reaching the people in Nineveh. When it comes to reaching those who need Jesus, are you and God on the same page? Check out this message for more.
08/26/12
People spend a lot of time waiting. Sometimes, it’s just the way it has to be. Other times, there’s no reason to wait at all: Like when it comes to sharing the good news about Jesus. Don’t Wait until you have it all together. Don’t Wait until you’ve mastered a complicated message. And Don’t Wait to obey God’s message to you. Listen to this message for more.
08/12/12
Ever heard a message that started with a game of limbo? Nuff said. If you need more, think about this: “How low can you go?” is a great goal for that game, not such a great goal for life. Here’s the good news: Jonah cried out to God from the bottom of the ocean and God saved him. No matter how low you are, God can save you. He is not only high and lofty, he is also close to the broken. How low will you go before you cry out to Him?
07/22/12
Paralyzed by your own shame? Afraid to be real because others will reject you? Jesus came to set us free from these fears. The only answer is to let our shame drive us out of hiding and straight to the foot of His cross.
07/15/12
So you’re on Family Feud. The first question is “Name something in the book of Jonah.” Number one answer is…Fish? Jonah? Nineveh? The truth is all these things are like little pictures in a giant collage. When you zoom out and your eyes adjust, you see that they all blend together and form a big picture: the face of a Missionary God. A God who loved the city of Nineveh and a God who loves our world today. As we dive into the book of Jonah, ask yourself: What do Jonah and I have in common? How well did he reflect the heart of this Missionary God? How well do I?

If you’re completely honest, is God’s presence enough for you to be content, at peace, satisfied? Or do you require something more? If you require more, should that concern you? It’s not a new issue. David wrestled with it centuries ago in Psalm 131. Check out this message for more.

Ok, so we’re new creations. Now that we’ve celebrated that awesome truth, what’s next? What should new creations spend their lives doing? Paul says we are ambassadors of God himself: Ambassadors carrying a message of reconciliation. Check out this message to see how this should impact the way we spend our time and use our talents.
06/24/12
Paul said those who believe in Jesus are new creations. Listen to hear what a crab apple tree and a golden delicious tree can teach us about this radical transformation.
06/17/12
Paul Pierce of the Boston Celtics was given a nickname: “The Truth.” One of the most famous movies lines of all time was: “You can’t handle the truth.” People often say “My truth is my truth, your truth is your truth.” and “There is no absolute truth.” The truth is talked about a lot. It was Jesus who said he would send the Spirit of Truth. Listen to hear how the Spirit leads believers in the truth of God’s word, what we should pray, what we should say and do, and who we really are.
06/10/12
Every groom is concerned when his bride is sick. One thing that concerns Jesus is when His bride, the church is racked with disunity. That’s why the Holy Spirit works to bring Inward Unity (between churches and individual believers). When Jesus prayed for this unity in John 17, he knew it was intricately connected to Outward Unity (between God and lost people) as well. “May they be one as we are one so the world may know that you have sent me.” (paraphrased) Listen to hear more about the Holy Spirit and the unity He brings.
05/27/12
The Bible has many pictures of the Holy Spirit’s power. One of them is a stream of living water. Simply put, your life is like a hose. The Holy Spirit is like the powerful, refreshing water that wants to flow through you and bless those around you. You can’t create His power, but you can put kinks in your hose that stop it from flowing through you. Listen to this message to hear 3 common kinks and how to get rid of them.
05/13/12
Spiritual interest is up. Church attendance is down. Could it be that some looking for spirituality are looking elsewhere because the church has been trying life in our own power? Too often, the Holy Spirit is ignored or misunderstood. Check out this message for an introduction to some of the common ways He’s misunderstood and what the Bible really teaches about him. If we want to be a powerful influence in the world, we’re going to need Him.
4/22/12
Ever wish you could listen in while Jesus prayed to His Father? Some of his disciples did. And they were so blown away by what they heard, they asked him, “Lord teach us to pray.” What we now call “The Lord’s Prayer” was what he told them. Listen to hear how this prayer can become more than rote words to recite. You’ll discover that it’s actually a powerful pattern to bring our conversation with God to life as we pray about Him & His glory then Us & our needs.
3/4/12
Often when we think of trusting Jesus, we think of the things we are saved from (Hell, guilt, and bondage to sin). That’s good news for sure. But we are also saved to something that should take our breath away: a relationship with the Creator of the Universe! Are you enjoying that relationship today? I hope so. Because nothing else can satisfy the deepest desires of your heart.

Know anyone who thinks of God as a mean old miser who’s holding out on them? This message will show you just how wrong that is. He gave his only Son! Why would he hold back anything else? If you’re feeling empty, listen to this message to hear just how full our generous God wants our lives to be.
12/18/11
What connection is there between giving and my prayer life? Can I live like a miser and expect to fully enjoy God’s generosity in my own life? This message will give you the inside scoop on the connection between generosity and prayer.
12/04/11
Wanna see the Apostle Paul get ticked off? Start adding to salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And then stand back. Paul (and God for that matter) can’t stand when we act as though the grace we receive through faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection was not enough to save us. Should our lives be filled with good works done in the power of the Spirit? Absolutely. But those works must never replace the good news of Jesus Christ or be added to it as a means of being made right with God.

They should go together like turkey and stuffing. But too often we slip into the trap of complaining. And our prayer lives pay the price. How can we overcome this trap and grow in thankfulness? Check out this message for some ideas.

In I Corinthians 14:26, we read about an early church gathering where “each one” shared what God laid on their hearts to build each other up. We decided to do an experiment and try it today. And guess what? Jesus is still Head of His Church and still loves to speak through His people!

In John 15:7 Jesus said, “If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.”
Awesome promise! But what in the world does it mean to abide?
Maybe a story from marriage and a crock pot will help.
