Hello, and welcome to Discover True Treasure. I’m Angela. The episodes this season are inspired by my daily reading passages from my one-year bible. I’ve been discussing the topic of persecution for about a month now, and last week, I started a discussion that focused on Paul and Silas’ response to persecution for preaching the good news of Jesus Christ. Today, I want to continue where we left off last week by looking at how the Lord not only avenged Paul and Silas, but also used their persecution for good. Okay, I hope you’re ready. Let’s begin.

Hello, and welcome to Discover True Treasure. I’m Angela. The episodes this season are inspired by my daily reading passages from my one-year bible. The topics of the last few episodes have centered around talking about persecution and loving our enemies. These are difficult topics to talk about because it’s challenging, or should I say impossible, to have a consistently joyful attitude when suffering persecution, and it’s impossible to consistently love your enemies without the help of the Holy Spirit. We know that Jesus would not tell us to do something that we are not equipped to do, and he told us to rejoice and even leap for joy when we are hated and mistreated. Well, should we take that literally, or figuratively? I believe Jesus meant that we should literally have an expression of joy when we are persecuted. So, what exactly does that look like? Do we have any examples from the bible? We certainly do. In fact, Paul and Silas are wonderful examples of what it looks like to rejoice in the midst of persecution. Therefore, in this episode, I want to take a closer look at the persecution of Paul and Silas for preaching the good news of Jesus Christ and their response to the persecution. Okay, I hope you’re ready. Let’s begin.
Key Scripture References: Acts 16:16-40; Luke 6:23-24; Acts 4:13-21; Acts 19:11-16; 2 Timothy 3:12, and 1 John 3:13.

Hello, and welcome to Discover True Treasure. I’m Angela. The episodes this season are inspired by my daily reading passages from my one-year bible. Today, I will be talking about the end times and signs of Jesus’ return. Now, this may not sound like a very exciting or popular topic, but I truly believe it’s an important one. When Jesus’s disciples asked him what the signs of His return and the end of the world would be, He didn’t rebuke them for asking. Instead, he gave them a very in-depth answer. And I believe he did so not just warn them, but to also encourage them. So, as you listen to today’s episode, I pray that the Lord would strengthen and encourage your heart as you set your sights on the realities of heaven and the glorious future that awaits us. Okay, I hope you’re ready. Let’s begin.

Hello, and welcome to Discover True Treasure. I’m Angela. I’m so happy to be with you today. All season long we have been talking about Life Lessons from Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. However, I don’t believe that the Lord wants us just to accept these harmful emotions and somehow learn to live with them. Instead, I believe that by aligning our thoughts with the word of God we can break free from envy and jealousy once and for all. Okay, without any further delay, let’s begin.

Welcome to the Discover True Treasure podcast. I’m your host Angela. For the past two weeks, I took a break from this season’s theme, Life Lessons from Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, in order to produce a couple of holiday-themed episodes. But I am so excited to resume this series today by talking about Life Lesson #8: Flee Sexual Immorality. Now, I believe this message is for all of us. It doesn’t matter if we are single, dating, engaged, married, divorced, or widowed. Regardless of the season of life we are in, we all can learn something about the dangers of sexual sins. Even if we are not dealing with sexual immorality, odds are that we know someone who is, and this episode could be a blessing to them. So, if you are already strong in this area, I pray that this episode will encourage you to remain strong, and I hope that you will share this episode with someone else. If you are struggling in this area, I believe that this episode will help you break free and live in victory in this area. Okay, I hope you’re ready to study the word of God. Let’s begin.

In addition, this episode gave me a renewed motivation to be fully present in my life instead of worrying about the future or fretting about the past. Lastly, I was reminded to be intentional about enjoying life’s simple pleasures for they truly are gifts from God. During today’s episode, we are going to discuss Life Lesson #4: Use Your Words Wisely. This is also a very important life lesson because our words are so powerful, and they have a tremendous impact on our lives. Okay, I hope you’re ready to study the word of God. Let’s begin. Key Scripture References Proverbs 18:20-21 (anchor text); James 3:2-6; Proverbs 16:27-28; Proverbs, 20:19; Proverbs 18:8, and Colossians 4:6.

Welcome to the Discover True Treasure podcast. I’m your host Angela. To those of you celebrating Thanksgiving today, I want to wish you a very happy Thanksgiving. As you may know, this season’s theme is Life Lessons from Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. Being thankful is probably one of the most important life lessons of them all, and even though I haven’t dedicated an episode to being grateful, I really have touched on it because I’ve already, this season, talked a lot about being content with what you have and where you are in life and about enjoying life simple’s pleasures. In order to be content, in order to find joy in simple things, I believe that you must have an attitude of gratitude. Amen. Okay, during today’s episode, I am so excited to replay one of the episodes from Season 1, and I really hope that you are blessed by this episode, and I pray that it makes whatever you’re doing right now (cooking, cleaning, doing housework, or even relaxing) more enjoyable. Thanks again for tuning in, and I hope that you will be blessed by today’s episode.

If you missed last week’s episode, feel free to go back and listen to it. During last week’s episode, we discussed that since we have begun our new lives in the Spirit, it would be foolish for us to believe that we are perfected by human effort. In addition, we were reminded of the importance of Jesus’s death and how being mindful of Jesus’ death can help us guard against deceptive teachings. In this week’s episode, we are going to discuss how those who put their faith in Christ share in the same blessing Abraham received from God by simply believing. Okay, I hope you’re ready to study the word of God. Let’s begin.

If you missed last week’s episode, feel free to go back and listen to it. However, it is perfectly fine to listen to the episodes out of order. During last week’s episode, we finished reading what Paul discussed with Peter when he confronted him in Antioch for separating himself from uncircumcised Gentile believers. A key point Paul made during his discussion with Peter was that no one could ever be made right with God by obeying the law. Instead, one is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ alone. In this week’s episode, we are going to begin to see why this truth is so important. The truth that no one is made right with God by obeying the law or by human effort. In this episode, Paul is going to emphasize that the believers in the churches of Galatia received did not receive the Holy Spirt by obeying the law. Instead, they received the Holy Spirit because they heard the good news about Christ Jesus and believed it. Okay, I hope you’re ready to study the word of God. Let’s begin.

Welcome to the Discover True Treasure podcast. I’m your host Angela. Today, we are going to continue our study of the book of Galatians by studying verses 15-21 of chapter 2. If you missed last week’s episode, feel free to go back and listen to it. However, it is perfectly fine to listen to the episodes out of order. During last week’s episode, we learned that the outcome of Paul’s meeting with the Jewish leaders of the church of Jerusalem was that they approved of the message Paul was preaching to the Gentiles and they considered him to be a fellow co-worker. We also learned that Peter joined Paul in Antioch, and while he was there, he started out eating with uncircumcised Gentiles, but when some friends of James joined them, he separated himself from the Gentiles and refused to eat with them for fear of being criticized by James’s friends who believed that circumcision was a necessity. Because of Peter’s poor example, many other Jews were carried away with his hypocrisy and Paul confronted Peter to his face because what he did was very wrong. In today’s episode, we are going to learn why what Peter did was so wrong, and we are going to learn more about the difference between justification by works and justification by faith. I am so excited to study the word of God. Let’s begin.

Welcome to the Discover True Treasure podcast. I’m your host Angela. Today, we are going to continue our study of the book of Galatians by studying verses 6-14 of chapter 2. If you missed last week’s episode, feel free to go back and listen to it. However, it is perfectly fine to listen to the episodes out of order. During last week’s episode, we learned that Paul said that the Lord told him to go to back to Jerusalem 14 years after his first visit. During this visit, he met privately with the Jewish leaders in the church and shared with them the gospel message he had been preaching to the Gentiles to ensure that everyone agreed with it because he did not want all his efforts to be in vain. Also, we learned that during the meeting, some false believers sneaked in and brought up the question regarding whether or not the Gentiles should follow the law of Moses by being circumcised. Paul was not pleased with these individuals and said that they just wanted to enslave the Gentile believers and rob them of the freedom they have in Christ. During today’s episode, we are going to read about the outcome of that meeting. Also, we are going to discuss why Paul rebuked Peter when Peter joined him in Antioch. I hope you’re ready to study the word of God. Let’s begin.

Welcome to the Discover True Treasure podcast. I’m your host Angela. Today, we are going to continue our study of the book of Galatians by studying verses 1-5 of chapter 2. If you missed last week’s episode, feel free to go back and listen to it. However, it is perfectly fine to listen to the episodes out of order. I believe that each episode can stand on its own. During last week’s episode, we learned about what Paul did during the first few years after his conversion. We learned that he did not immediately visit with the other apostles. Instead, he went off to Arabia and Damascus to minister the good news of Jesus Christ. Also, during last week’s episode I talked about Paul’s miraculous transformation and how the believers in the churches of Judea praised God because Paul was now preaching the very faith he once sought to destroy. In this week’s episode, after the brief detour of Paul discussing his background and describing what he did during the first few years after his conversion, Paul is going to get back to the main reason for his letter. We are going to learn about what happened when Paul went back to Jerusalem to meet with the Jewish leaders about the issue of whether or not the Gentiles must follow the law of Moses. Okay, I’m so excited to get into the word of God. Let’s begin.

Welcome to the Discover True Treasure podcast. I’m your host Angela. Today, we are going to continue our study of the book of Galatians by studying verses 17- 24. If you missed last week’s episode, feel free to go back and listen to it. However, it is perfectly fine to listen to the episodes out of order. I believe that each episode can stand on its own. During last week’s episode, we read Paul’s account of how he received the gospel of grace and we learned more about Paul’s background. A key takeaway for me was knowing that despite of my past and my weaknesses I, like Paul, have been called to be a partaker of the Lord’s marvelous grace, even before I was born. Also, during last week’s episode, I mentioned that the Lord often uses the weak and despised in this world to confound the wise and the mighty. I find it so encouraging to know that what we think disqualifies us actually qualifies us to partake of the Lord’s grace so that no flesh may glory in His presence. Okay, during this week’s episode, we are going to read about what Paul did during the first few years after his conversion. I hope you’re ready to study the word of God. Let’s begin today’s lesson.
Key Scripture References: Galatians 1:17-24 (Main Text) Acts 9:1-20; Acts 15:7-12; Galatians 1:11-12, and Romans 10:13.

If you missed last week’s episode, feel free to go back and listen to it. However, it is perfectly fine to listen to the episodes out of order. I believe that each episode can stand on its own. During last week's episode, we learned that Paul was utterly amazed that the believers in the churches of Galatia had quickly turned away from following the good news, the grace of Christ. We also talked about how the enemy is so subtle, and he wants to point us to the law (to self effort) but we are no longer under law; we are under grace. Well, in this week’s episode, we are going to read Paul’s account of how he received the gospel of grace, and we are going to learn a little more about Paul’s background. You may recall that I discussed Paul’s conversion in the very first episode. If you missed it, or if you want a refresher, please feel free to go back and listen to it. Okay, I hope you’re ready to study the word of God. Let’s begin today’s lesson.

(Note: You may have noticed a few faux paus in some episodes. Please know that I prefer to just let minor errors (such as grammatical errors) slide because they usually don't impact the overall meaning of what I'm trying to convey. Okay, as a reminder, for this book study, I will be loosely following a modified version of the S.O.A.P. (or SOAP) bible study method. The acronym SOAP stands for scripture, observations, application, and prayer. In addition, l will be reading from primarily the New Living Translation, but I also enjoy using other translations, such as the King James Version, as well. I’m so excited to continue our book study. In this episode, we will get into the very important reason why Paul wrote to the churches of Galatia. If you joined me last week, you know that we only covered the opening of Paul’s letter, but I think we gleaned some powerful truths just from Paul’s opening. For example, we talked about how much of a blessing it is to know that we have God’s grace and peace. Okay, I hope you’re ready to study the word of God. Let’s begin today’s lesson.
Key Scripture References: Galatians 1:6-10 (Main Text) 1 Corinthians 15:56; 2 Corinthians 4:4; 2 Corinthians 2:14; Ephesians 2:8; Galatians 5:3; Romans 6:1; Romans 6:11-12; and Romans 10:13.

Welcome to the Discover True Treasure podcast. I’m your host Angela. Today, we are launching a study of the book of Galatians. For most episodes, we will study approximately five verses at a time, and I will be loosely following a modified version of the S.O.A.P. (or SOAP) bible study method. The acronym SOAP stands for scripture, observations, application, and prayer. This is a popular bible study method, and I like it because it provides structure, and it is easy to use. In addition, l will be reading from primarily the New Living Translation, but I also enjoy using other translations as well. During this book study, I believe that we are going to gain a greater understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the difference between law and grace. If you can, feel free to follow along with your bible, but if you can’t just enjoy listening, and if you miss something, you can always go back and listen again, but remember, it is the simple act of listening that is so powerful because as the English Standard Version (or ESV) bible says in Romans 10:17, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.“ Okay, I think that covers everything. Let’s begin.
Key Scripture References: Galatians 1:1-5 (Main Text); Acts: 9:1-20; Acts 13:2; Acts 13:9; 2 Corinthians 11:13-14; John 16:33; Romans 5:9; Hebrews 4:16, and John 14:27.

Welcome to the Discover True Treasure podcast. I’m your host Angela. Discover True Treasure is a Christ-centered women’s bible study. The purpose of this podcast is to behold our Lord Jesus Christ through the word of God and discover (or rediscover) the multitude of treasures that are in His finished work on the cross. I believe that the most valuable treasure we have in this life is Jesus Christ himself. He is our true treasure! The bible tells us that our life is hid in Christ in God. That means that to know who we are, we need to know who He is, and that’s the focus of this podcast. We are going to study the bible in order to gain a greater revelation of Jesus Christ.
In addition to simple, practical, and straightforward bible study lessons, Discover True Treasure is also a place where you can submit prayer requests, ask questions, and comment on episodes. So welcome to the podcast, and thank you for joining me on this wonderful journey of discovering true treasure.
