Ernest Uwazie is the founder of Afripeace Foundation. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Africa-US relations through peace education and cross-cultural exchanges, as well as youth leadership and community development.
He holds a Ph.D. in Justice Studies from Arizona State University and is a Professor and Chair of Criminal Justice at CSU Sacramento. He is a renowned ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution)/mediation trainer, practitioner, scholar and system designer. Uwazie has many publications and conference presentations on peace and conflict resolution, peace education, restorative justice and alternative dispute resolution.
He is also a recipient of numerous prestigious awards for his community service and scholarships, and he belongs to or participated in many professional and African community development/cultural organizations.

Alana Mathews is currently a candidate for Sacramento District Attorney, running alongside fellow DA candidate Thien Ho. Mathews has served as Deputy District Attorney in Sacramento for eight years and is the first person in her family to earn a college degree. The Sacramento Bee has named her in their Top 25 Black Change Makers for the Sacramento region. If elected, she would be the first Black woman in Sacramento County to hold the District Attorney position.

Dr. Nicole Clavo is currently the head of the City of Sacramento Office of Violence Prevention. She impressively holds a doctorate in psychology, a master’s in human services and is a Navy veteran. Seven years ago Dr. Clavo tragically lost her 17 year-old son JJ Clavo to gang violence, prompting her to co-found the Healing 5 Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to “giving support, confidence, and hope to individuals and families facing tragedy by advocating on their behalf for resources.” Dr. Clavo uses her life experiences to speak publicly on the importance of proactively raising youth, and sets realistic expectations as the office strives to reduce and prevent gang-related casualties in Sacramento.
Thien Ho is currently the Assistant Chief Deputy DA for the Sac County District Attorney’s Office. He is best known for coordinating the successful prosecution of one of the most prolific serial killers and rapists in American history - the Golden State Killer. Along with two others running for the position of Sacramento County District Attorney, superseding Anne Marie Schubert, who plans to run for State Attorney General in 2022, Thien is a highly experienced prosecutor, immigrant, and educator. According to Ho’s campaign website, thienhoforda.com, he will prioritize:
Public safety and accountability;
Tackling the homeless crisis by addressing the underlying issues of Mental health and drug addiction;
Promoting rehabilitation and equity; (“Create a pilot program in collaboration with businesses and trade organizations to provide minors in the juvenile system job training and placement”).
Building lasting relationships and trust with ALL communities.
