It's crucial to recognize the significant impact that sleep, or lack thereof, can have on our employees' productivity and overall well-being. As managers, we often overlook the various factors that can affect their sleep patterns, which in turn influence their performance during the workday.
Factors such as travel, dietary habits, level of physical activity, stress levels, and excessive use of gadgets all play a role in disrupting our employees' sleep routines and personal circadian rhythms. For instance, frequent travel can disrupt one's sleep schedule due to jet lag and changes in time zones. Unhealthy eating habits or consuming stimulants like caffeine late in the day can interfere with the ability to fall asleep or stay asleep throughout the night. Similarly, inadequate exercise or high levels of stress can lead to restless nights and decreased sleep quality.Moreover, the excessive use of electronic devices before bedtime, such as smartphones, tablets, or laptops, can disrupt the body's natural sleep-wake cycle due to the blue light emitted by these devices, thus making it harder for individuals to fall asleep.As managers, it's essential for us to be mindful of these factors and create a supportive environment that promotes healthy sleep habits among our employees. Recent job market statistics indicated there were 10 million open positions with 6 million people seeking employment. If you're lucky enough to find a great candidate, it is likely they will leave you within 3 years or less, especially with Gen Z and Millennials. At the same time, there is a hidden candidate market composed of terrific candidates who are often overlooked by employers. These candidates include veterans, military spouses, people with disabilities, and other underserved populations. Great candidates who struggle to connect with employers for a variety of reasons and tend to be more loyal when given an opportunity. When is the right time to start your company? Has your time passed your by? Joyce Feustel should serve as an inspiration to all who feel that they've missed their calling. At 64 , Joyce started her business and has been doing it for over 9 years. An expert in her field, LinkedIn and Social Media are important for anybody conducting business today.
Bio of Joyce Fuestel: As a lifelong learner, I began using social media to extend my outreach and connections in 2008, the year I turned 60. Already an experienced and savvy networker, I immediately saw how I could use these skills on Facebook and LinkedIn.
In March of 2010 my manager told me I did a great job explaining social media to our clients. He then asked me if I had ever thought of helping others in my baby boomer age group to understand social media.
That’s the day I figured out what I was supposed to do when I grew up! Within six months I decided to create my business which I called Boomers’ Social Media Tutor.
I spent a few years ramping up my business while still working at that job. Then in March of 2013 I left the job to work full time as a social media trainer and tutor. In this encore career I focus on the social media sites of LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
My goal is to make social media simple, easy and fun for those who use my services. I like to use social media to:

Bio:
John S. Bacon is the president & founder of PayThrive. He was born & raised in the Detroit metro area & moved to Colorado in 2004. He currently live in the Metro Denver area with my wife and daughter.
He worked briefly in the supplemental benefits space & was a group health insurance broker for a time. He then became an independent sales representative in the payroll / HCM industry, forming his own consulting company in September of 2006. Being independent & a business owner gave him a unique perspective because most industry sales professionals were employee or ‘captive’ salespeople.
He saw an opportunity to disrupt this dysfunction & empower the client with choices. Small to medium sized businesses needed more options & better advice when seeking a new payroll vendor. He wanted to increase candor & reduce conflict of interest – something that would benefit the industry & clients both. He truly felt that clients would greatly value this approach & see it as liberation.
This was the genesis of the PayThrive business model. PayThrive was born, with Human Capital Gains, Realized. They now independently represent 25 different service providers in Colorado & across the country- from Pacific to Eastern time. They represent all the different service levels, from small business payroll to single-database HCM, up to PEO's.
