Jhodi Webster is a 25 year-old neuroscience PhD candidate at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. She is an alum of St. Andrew's High School for Girls in Kingston, Jamaica. Her passion for the sciences led her to The United States to pursue medicine at Agnes Scott College after receiving a scholarship.
However her academic trajectory took a turn as her interest in neuroscience was sparked when she was invited by one of her professors to conduct research in her lab. She has received the Dupont Neuroscience Award, and named the 2022 Parkinson's Association of Alabama Predoctoral Scholar.
Her Phd research focuses on the immune system in the brain and its contribution to neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

Growing up in the tumultuous inner city of Maxfield Ave, Quidi- Ann has lived through the harsh reality of gun violence, Witnessing her mother getting shot when she was 6 years old and 13 years later, her own nephew falling victim when a stray bullet grazed him while asleep in their bedroom served as motivation that she had to find a way out of the inner city.
Quidi-Ann refused to let the traumatic experiences define her future and now credits her community for grooming her success. Despite facing financial challenges and the inability to pay her first year university fees, she refused to let her circumstances dictate her future and courageously attended classes armed with her mother's strong faith that "things will work out". She was awarded a scholarship but had to maintain a GPA of 3.0.
During her years at law school, she has won several scholarships which has enabled her to complete law school.
Today she stands proudly as an attorney at law and the first from her family to have a university education. Her journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and serves as inspiration to anyone facing challenges on their path to success, showing that with hard work anything is possible.
David Salmon, a former student of Wolmer's Boys’ School in Kingston, has achieved his long-standing dream of becoming a Rhodes Scholar.
David's dream of becoming a Rhodes Scholar began when he was 15 years old in 2015 after he listened to and interacted with Jamaica's recipient of the award for that year, Dr. Tariq Parker. As Parker spoke, David looked up to him and decided that he, too, would aspire to become a Rhodes Scholar.
David earned his undergraduate degree in Public Policy and Management, with a minor in International Relations, from the University of the West Indies (UWI). He is currently pursuing a Master of Philosophy in Development Studies at the University of Cambridge in the UK, after being awarded the His Royal Highness Prince of Wales Scholarship. He will be studying for a Doctor of Philosophy in International Development at Oxford University in the UK.
David's impressive accomplishments extend far beyond his academic pursuits. He is the founder of the New Jamaica Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting youth development. In 2021, he received the Governor-General's Achievement Award for the parish of St. Andrew for Academic Performance and Community Involvement, In 2019, the Prime Minister's National Youth Award for Nation Building, and the Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) Morris Cargill Award for Opinion Journalism. In addition, Salmon represented the University of the West Indies as a debater and was the 2022 Valedictorian for the Faculty of Social Sciences.
David hopes that his journey will inspire others to dream big and put in the hard work required to make those dreams come true.

Growing up in poverty in Tower Hill, Kingston, Jamaica, 23 year-old Jahmel Brown was constantly told he would never amount to anything like his father who pushed handcarts in downtown Kingston. These words though belittling served as his driving force to excel. Despite passing his GSAT exams for the non-traditional Tarrant High School, Jahmel's exceptional performance earned him the top CSEC and CAPE performer.
He faced many challenges but he persevered and in 2019 he became the first in his family to attend a university, thanks to a scholarship for his first semester at the University of the West Indies. His journey was harder than the degree he said citing lack of resources, sleepless nights and depression but despite difficult circumstances, he continued to push himself and won several scholarships and awards along the way. He ultimately graduated with a first class honors degree in Public Policy and Management with a minor in Int'l Relations.
Today Jahmel's is pursuing a masters in International Public and development Management. He hopes that his success will inspire others in his family and community to believe that despite facing poverty and obstacles, they too can achieve greatness through hard work, determination and perseverance.

26 year-old Shaddae Findley, from Rose Heights in Montego Bay, Jamaica, is a proud alum of Montego Bay High School where she excelled in academics and also as a member of the school's tennis team. She began her tennis journey at the young age of 11, under the guidance of her father, who had a passion for the sport. Despite financial challenges, Shaddae's love for tennis and determination to succeed led her parents to make sacrifices to pay for tennis classes. She also credits her coach for her success in tennis as he ensured that she came to classes even when her parents couldn't pay. In 2015 after completing High School she was able to secure a tennis scholarship to Prairie View A&M University in Texas, where she represented the school on the court. This opportunity led to even greater opportunities, including a full scholarship to Columbia University, where she completed her master's degree in
Enterprise Risk Management.
In 2020 she began her career at Goldman Sachs as an analyst and has been 'climbing the ladder since becoming a Snr. Analyst in 2021 and more recently an associate in December 2022. Shaddae is grateful for the opportunities that her talent and dedication to tennis have provided.

Dishon Francis is a 20 year-old Jamaican youth farmer from the Parish of St. Elizabeth. He is the 2022 4H Club National Male Youth Ambassador, the 2019 St Elizabeth Top Boy of the year and the 2022 Mr. Jnr Health and Wellness Ambassador.
His love for agriculture started as a child growing up in a family of farmers from a farming community called Nain.
In 2019, he won first place for his project using banana bark and cassava starch to make plates and utensils after a ban on single use plastic bags and Styrofoam products was announced by the Government.
He is passionate about research and innovation and has also developed an insect repellant and compost mix using the cassava which will be available on the market soon.

Acee Green at 21 years old is Jamaica's first Para Archer. Representing Jamaica in his first international competition at the recently held Caribbean Development Archery Championship in the Dominican Republic, he won a bronze medal in the beginner senior men's 30m category.
He was born with two spinal conditions, spina bifida and scoliosis which prevents him from being able to walk
However, he has not allowed his disability to hinder his goal of representing Jamaica at the Paralympic Games. Through determination and love for the sport of archery, He has become one of the top four archers in Jamaica although only playing the sport for a few months.

In Primary school she became a member of the Jamaica 4H club which continued at Decarteret College. She furthered her formal training in agriculture at the Ebony Park Academy.
Petreine started farming as a business venture in 2020 with assistance from the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) and the Rural Youth Economic Empowerment Programme (RYEEP) an entrepreneurial training programme which offers rural youths an opportunity to launch their own agricultural enterprise in partnership with the HEART TRUST NTA.
In 2021 she was nominated for the Prime Minister's Youth Award in Farming.

22 year old Gawaine Murray is the CEO of Designa Tyla, a company that designs luxury tiles. Hailing from the tough area of Rockfort in east Kingston, his life could easily have been different.
Although living in a community surrounded by negative influences, Gawaine was able to stay on a positive path through the strong influence of his parents.
After completing High School, he was unable to move on to the tertiary level due to financial constraints but with the help of others, he was able to land a job in the construction industry defying the stereotype that young men from the innercities "nuh want nuh work"
Later when he was laid off he went to work as an apprentice tiler. Over the years he has learnt other trades such as roofing, stone masonry and bricklaying.
His childhood dream of building his own home was motivation to learn everything about construction.
He recently started his own business defying the odds is now one step close to his dream.

First Generation College student 23 year old Alex Ashley is the winner of the 2022 Lafayette College's The George Wharton Pepper Prize which is awarded annually to the senior who most nearly represents the Lafayette ideal.
Hailing from the rural area of Treadways in Linstead, St Catherine, the Campion college alum received a full ride scholarship to Lafayette College in 2018.
He faced several challenges as he had to adjust to life in a new country, new culture and a school that was predominantly white. As a first generation student , he had to navigate on his own by building and making connections.
His goal is to help other Jamaican students and facilitate the transition to college through mentorship.

Seventeen year old Tommi Gore, a rally and circuit Jamaican race car driver is from a family of who have made their mark in in local and regional racing. He's the son of Douglas Gore ,one of Jamaica's best race car driver and the grandson of Neil Gore who raced at Vernamfield.
Tommi is determined to continue the legacy and also make a name for himself in the field of Motorsports.
He started racing at 5 years old as a Go-kart Driver at the Palisadoes International Raceway in Kingston. He has represented Jamaica in Go-kart racing both locally and internationally..
He's presently the only Jamaican to win several Go- kart races in Barbados and Guyana.
He became the youngest race car driver to compete at Dover Raceway and is the youngest class winner at Drivers Rally Sports Club.

Dr. Elombe Calvert is on a mission to transform Jamaica's healthcare system through the application of Data Science.

Chasing his dreams wherever they take them will have 19 year old Justin Clarke heading to Columbia Engineering School on a scholarship to pursue a degree in Computer Science. A 6th form Student from Campion College who hails from The parish of Portland says his interest in computers started when as a child he stumbled upon a programming book in the library. He began coding at 9 years old and this passion was further ignited in High school where while travelling back and forth from Portland every day to Campion, he used the time to master coding.
In 2021 he won several SPISE awards (Student Program for Innovation in Science and Engineering) which included Top Performer In Computer Programming and Most Creative Electronics Project.
Immaculate Conception High School 6th former and Deputy Head Girl Zariah Ferguson heads to Harvard University on a full ride scholarship. Harvard's offer came as a surprise to her as this was also in a year where the acceptance rate has been the lowest in Harvard's history.
She has worked hard for this starting from her early years at Dunrobin High School where she was the top performer in the GSAT exams . Her academic success continued when she passed 10 subjects in the CSEC Examinations and 5 subjects at the CAPE level, all at Grade ones and during a pandemic.

Candice Gordon's journey as an entrepreneur began at Grade 6 when she started selling occasion cards at school. Moving on to Wolmer's School for Girls she further continued the journey selling arm bands and hair pieces. Her love for business grew and in 2016 Inspired by her interest to grow her short hair, Candice Gordon and her sister began a research on natural products while a student at the University of the West Indies. This quest led to the launch of Shevielle Naturals an organic based hair and skincare brand which seeks to improve hair and skin through natural handmade hair and skincare products as well as natural remedies.
The line of products include oils and soaps. Shevielle also provides consultancy services and tips for hair and skin health.

At 19 years old Paul Hyman became Jamaica's youngest Sushil Jain awardee. This is presented to the youngest graduate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) who fully completes the final stage of the exams on the first attempt.
Now at 23 he's the youngest member of the management team at Kingston Terminals.
He tells his story and shares tips on how to ace the ACCA exams.
At 27 years old, he has been the recipient of over 300 honors, awards and scholarships from the primary to the post graduate level. At Ardenne Preparatory school he was Head Boy and top GSAT performer which earned him a government Scholarship to Ardenne High School.
He received 10 distinctions in the CSEC exams in 2011 and was the recipient of the American Ambassadors Academic Achievement Award. He continued to perform exceptionally earning 8 distinctions in the CAPE exams. He captained the school to victory in the School's Challenge Quiz and repeated the feat as Head coach 2 years later in 2015 becoming the youngest person to win the competition as both player and coach at just 20 years old.
At the University of the West Indies he graduated with a First Class Honors degree in Economics and Banking & Finance (double major)
At the youth level he has worked with CARICOM and the United Nations. He was also appointed a Youth Advisor to the Government of Jamaica as well as an ambassador to the Governor General. He was also the National Volunteers Centre's Young Leader of the Year.
He recently received the Prime Minister's Youth Award for excellence in Academics. Keenen is also the holder of certificates from the prestigious Harvard University and Oxford University.
Keenan's academic research has centered on devising means of solving some of the most pressing challenges experienced by countries of the developing world.
Just days before sitting the GSAT examinations, the news came that Demoy's father was killed in the U.S.A by a co-worker, his mother kept the news a secret until he sat the final exams. Demoy's life changed forever as his mother now became the sole breadwinner for the family. At 26 years old, Ramone Jackson is already pursuing a Phd in Engineering at the University of the West Indies. Despite growing up in poverty in Greenwich Farm in Kingston, Jamaica, he's today a Mathematician , a teacher and a student.
His early life was tough as he often slept on the floor of his adopted grandmother's house after his mother took him to live with her when she moved away from his father.
His love for Maths started at Excelsior High School where soon he started teaching the subject to other students so he could pay for lunch and his bus fare to school.

Isheba Cornwall is only 20 years old but certainly wise beyond her years. She lost her vision in one eye at 6 years after an incident during the summer holidays. This later affected her self esteem as she was bullied in school. Using her misfortune as a fuel to succeed, Isheba worked hard and used every opportunity to learn and excel.
Her love for writing landed her a job as a teen writer for the Jamaica Observer and at 15 years old became a co-host of the popular television program Talk up Yout. The program is now on radio and after 5 years she's still one of the main host. She's also a young entrepreneur having started her business Empowering Tees while still a student at the Excelsior High School.
She's presently a second year student at the University of the West Indies and a Social Media Ambassador for the United States Embassy in Jamaica.

Llori Sharpe is only 21 years old but has already won many medals and has represented Jamaica as swimmer, triathlete and a cyclist. She was the first Junior triathlete to represent Jamaica in the triathlon . She's the recipient of the Triathlete of the Year award in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 and the Prime Minister's Youth Awards in the sports category in 2017.
She switched fully to cycling after suffering from a knee injury in 2020 which prevented her from participating in running events. This decision paid off as she recently became the first Jamaican to sign with a European cycling team Canyon- SRAM Generation.
