However, when she discovered that her son was being mistreated in daycare, she made the brave decision to quit. This led her unexpectedly into a career in photography, specifically in the wedding industry, where she thrived for 20 years. Delving into this new world, she began by volunteering and eventually earned a staff position, touring with Tony Robbins across the globe. This chapter brought her immense joy and fulfillment. As circumstances changed and required extensive travel, Kara decided to pursue her own path. She returned to her roots as a wedding professional, only to be met with the onset of the pandemic. Father, husband, Electrician, and Firefighter. Sean's whole life led him to a place full of judgment and stubbornness. Surrounded by very masculine groups and taught his whole life to suck it up and be a man, he was led to believe that it was his responsibility to fix anything that might feel out of place. After all, as children, we don't always know that the things we are taught, and the examples set for us are incorrect. How do we know that we have anything we need to fix about ourselves?

Through a lifetime of questionable habits, lifestyle choices and the wrong information, Sean would not find his way out of this without trying things that he had never done before, and being someone he had never been. Deciding to take a break from drinking alcohol gave him the permission to be different and to seek more information about how he could make a better life for himself. The results: better personal health, better relationships, and better decisions.

Brent Cassity is the author of the Book Nightmare Success: Loyalty, Betrayal, Life Behind Bars, Adapting, And Finally Breaking Free: A Memoir. He is a host of the popular podcast Nightmare Success In and Out. Brent was an innovative CEO of Forever Enterprises, a national company, which he grew from a regional company to operating in 22 states. He was recognized by the national media; TIME, CNN, FORTUNE, Forbes, WALL STREET JOURNAL, cover story of ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT to name a few. HBO even did documentary The Young and the Dead that spawned the popular HBO Series Six Feet Under. Just when he thought he had it all, he lost it all and found himself standing at the Gates of Leavenworth to serve a 5-year sentence. What happens when your worst fear becomes your reality? He has coined the phrase “Nightmare Success” because everything you want is on the other side of fear. How did the one thing that Brent most feared…the one thing he said would never happen to him…happen? Brent is an engaging storyteller that has a real-life transformational story.

Brent describes his father as a larger-than-life character that he idolized. The Dad, living in the small rural town of Buffalo Missouri, became a D-1 basketball player, graduated number 1 in his law school class, and busted onto the legal scene winning televised cases. Then growing a business empire in his late 20’s and early 30’s. Brent wanted to be just like him. At 14 years old, Brent’s Dad is indicted for tax and bank fraud and goes to prison for 6 months. Showing second chances are possible, he lands on his feet growing a company that was saved by putting the ownership in his wife and sons names. Brent joins the company 10 years later and moves to Texas and builds the fastest growing team in the company. His Dad, Doug Cassity, turns over the sales and marketing to the young 25-year-old, so he can pursue growing what he loves stocks and investments in the insurance company.

Brent’s brother Tyler enters the company, and the brothers set out to revolutionize the way people remember a life with their innovative lifestories that could be viewed on touchscreen consoles of their loved ones at the cemetery. Forever Enterprises is born and the brothers are seen as the innovative pioneers of the funeral industry unaccustomed to change. They buy several cemeteries, but none are as well-known as Hollywood Forever that was bought out of bankruptcy. The brothers begin receiving national attention, but smoke begins to rise over the hills from regulators with the Cassity’s insurance company. Their Dad was known to push the limits into the gray area. Brent is asked by his Dad to be the voice and face of the company to go meet with regulators because his Dad is a convicted felon. A six-year investigation of the company ensued and 6 people were indicted including Brent and his Dad. Plea bargains were offered, and Brent was sentenced to 5 years and his dad to 10 years.
Brent is using his experience to make a difference with people who may have lost hope or do not believe a second chance is possible. Brent speaks to audiences about his 5 survival tools that are strategies that are helping those who are stuck or are fearful to take the next step forward. His podcast Nightmare Success In and Out interviews people who have been to prison. T

Hello! My name is Mollie Leivars and I am a young filmmaker based in Kent, UK.

After having a bad experience at school, I decided to start creating films surrounding youth issues so that other young people knew that they were never alone in what they were going through!

I created my first short film in 2019 and have never looked back! I'm lucky enough to have had my films shown across schools and colleges in partnership with local police forces and have most recently been accepted into an LA film festival with my most recent short film, For The Love of Eve.

I came into the industry quite young and have dealt with the mental health implications of that, from burnout to imposter syndrome! Talking about experiences to ensure that no one feels alone in what they are feeling is something that I am very passionate about.

He is a native New Yorker who has been working with children with developmental delays across the past two decades. He received his Masters in both General and Special Education in 2012. Melinda Hardin is a well-rounded plate spinner who seeks out opportunities to inspire audiences. Her most recent experience of writing and launching her bare-faced memoir, Uneclisped has set her on an emerging path of impact with raw, genuine perspective that is both relatable and tangible for women striving to find their own comeback stories.

Melinda is skilled at holding up a mirror for others to discover and delve into their own shadows, giving them the hope and confidence to step into their own authentic light.

She’s also a former booze enthusiast but now spends her days celebrating her sobriety, eyes wide open and all in on embracing every chapter of her life with purpose and vision. In Uneclipsed, she explores the “shadows” of her need for approval, the traditions of the fundamentalist religion of her girlhood, imposing relationships and expectations, and her addiction to alcohol. Although those are Melinda’s shadows, it’s easy for listeners and readers to find themselves within her story. She recounts with rawness, hilarity, and insight a life path paved with both the greatest joys and the greatest personal failures.

Sharon L. Brecher is a mom-blogger, writer, illustrator, wife, and Miserable Mom. Her first book, Miserable Mom: The Do’s and Don’ts of Sending Your Kid to College, calls out the absurdities of this stage of motherhood with a wry sense of humor and a self-deprecating wink to her own place in the emotional merry-go-round.
Sharon is a born and bred New Yorker, living in Southern California. She has raised two young adults (one in college and one recently out) and has an MA in Education. Sharon was the Educational Director of Futurekids and spent several years working as a consultant for companies like Disney Interactive and Disney Online, where she created educational content for kids and guides for parents.
Upon an emotional return from dropping her oldest off at college for the first time, Sharon needed to process some unfamiliar and vulnerable feelings. With one kid out and one to go, mid-life was upon her. This new phase would require the honesty and humor she always internalized, to process life’s challenges. But this time Sharon needed to share with other moms out loud. So, she sat down at her computer and Miserable Moms was born.

The ovarian cancer battle, that she experienced three years later, was fiercer than she could imagine. Through her struggles, however, she discovered yet more strength and now proudly says that cancer was not able to “beat“ her. She “beat“ cancer!
Amor now thrives and creates her own possibilities in life. She lives in Penn Valley, California, with her partner Bill and is also an active volunteer with the (Penn Valley) Lions Club and the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.

In October 2009, I witnessed a suicide while being unlawfully detained in a jail cell in Columbia, S.C. Although my case garnered national attention and I won the lawsuit against my wrongdoers, my mental health plummeted. As a practicing attorney, I constantly feared that my peers and the State Bar Association would discover that I had become heavily dependent on Xanax, which was prescribed for my unrelenting PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Nightmares, panic attacks, and despair nearly ended my life — and afraid of the stigma, I attempted suicide before I ever told anyone that I needed help.
I spent 35 days in a PTSD recovery center and experienced six months of horrific benzodiazepine withdrawals, before realizing that I would not go far on my journey to recovery without a support system of people who understood me. I emerged from treatment on a mission: To help others who are silently suffering. In 2018, I started a PTSD and anxiety support group in my hometown.
My time in the treatment facility taught me that connecting with others who are suffering is when the real healing begins. I learned that when you connect with someone who truly understands, you feel safe. Within this safe space, I was able to be honest, accepting, humble, open, and vulnerable — the things I needed to be to start my healing journey.
I created WhiteFlag for others to find that connection, too. I want you to find the right people who can hear what you’re not able to say. No matter what day or time, someone will always be there. A person — unpaid and untrained — that you would meet in any support group. Welcome to the WhiteFlag movement.
