Show topics include education, civic engagement, youth empowerment, etc. Nurah Speaks will welcome guests who have significant insight into these topics and more.
Every group has the responsibility to advance their interests. But are we advancing ours? This conversation is necessary because:
-our neighborhoods are a reflection of what we think of ourselves.
-our communities should not be a place from where our children (and we) want to make it out.
-education is for function, not status.
-working cooperatively works.
-we must help self, first, before helping others.
-we must end dependency.

Cher has extensive experience serving youth who’ve endured physical, mental, emotional and spiritual trauma. She shares her insights into practical approaches in helping youth manage their pain and fostering hope in what seems to them as a hopeless reality. This episode dives deep into the real mental and emotional labor of social work and the implications for the service recipient and provider.

This episode features clips of United States Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey wherein he addressed the legacy of slavery in Camden, New Jersey and the U.S. at large. Over 800 slaves arrived in Camden via three waterfront locations and slave markers were placed this week at each location by the Middle Passage project. New Jersey is recorded to having as many as 12,000 slaves.
