Our special guests today are Kathryn Meyer, Director of Admissions/Recruitment and Ashlee Treadway, Assistant Director of Admissions at the Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M University.

Kathryn has been with the Bush School for 19 years, handling much of the School’s recruitment marketing, communications, and events as well as overseeing the general admissions process for its on-campus degrees. Kathryn attends and presents at national conferences geared for graduate admissions professionals and is constantly learning to keep up in this fast-paced world. Kathryn is married, has two daughters attending Texas A&M, is a dedicated softball player, enjoys fire-pit time and her husband’s cooking, and loves serving alongside the incredible Bush School students who are so dedicated to others.

Ashlee has been with the Bush School for almost 6 years. She spent over four years as a student services program coordinator for the Office of Extended Education before transitioning into her current role working with on-campus students. Ashlee is heavily involved in recruitment communications and efficiency, and she processes all applications for the School’s four on-campus degrees and National Security Affairs certificate. Ashlee is married, passionate about Aggie football and basketball, and loves animals (although she’s allergic to them). Ashlee is honored to play a role, albeit small, as students start their journey as public servants.

Today we’ll be diving in to the recruitment process; traditionally what was done, how COVID affected that and will you be transitioning back to the traditional process or implement new ones moving forward.

SARAH & TJ CHAT ABOUT

  • Tell us a little bit about what Recruitment entails.
  • How did you have to adapt to accommodate the social distancing due to COVID for your Recruiting?
  • Since you weren’t able to host ICWs in person, what did that look like?
  • What was the response like from the prospective students?
  • What was the engagement like for the Faculty?

Today we review the year, the upcoming year, and have our FIRST Virtual guest!! Yay!

Event terms have been compartmentalized... Virtual Experience is the new Virtual Event!  Speaking of Virtual Experiences... Our expectations are pretty high.. Food delivery companies are partnering with the event industry to provide catering options for virtual attendees! Whaa.. So many creative options for keeping your attendees engaged!

Oversaturation is still a thing. sad face

But most importantly!! Help us welcome our guest as she fills us in on the how her year ended!

Yay! We made it!

Let me start by apologizing for the hot mess express over here! Insert cone of shame

-

In today's episode we discuss EVENT DESIGN and what is going on with interactive museums and some out of the box thinking that we have come across when it comes to shopping, gatherings, weddings, etc.

-

These museums though...seem lit (is that still a cool kid word?).

-

There will definitely be some investigative journalism going on with the Houston (TX) based ones!! Work related of course...need to see if they are implementing the Covid protocols or if they are just for show.

-

We also touch on topics of: inflatable prisons, human displays, and the ULTIMATE HOLIDAY MOVIE.

-

Be careful exiting the hot mess express and if we can clarify anything for you...LET US KNOW!!

-

Like, Share, Comment! If you have questions or have a topic for Sarah & TJ to discuss, let us know!

Welcome back!

Today it’s all about sports! What are some of these major/national leagues doing?!

We will discuss the “bubble” and what all it entails. Is this something we can do for large scale events? Does anyone else have the budget?

Disclaimer: Don’t be daft, we understand HIPPA.

I lied, it’s not all about sports. We will also update on the bar mandate. What BCS is allowing and what are they discouraging?!

Shout out to Hope. We miss you! Also shout out to Lulu for the DT Bryan info.

It’s October.. So as we channel our inner creeper...Let’s play a game: Be on the lookout and count the #blondemoments.. and guess which words we are trying to vocalize!

“QUALITY OF LIFE” SARAH…geez

Today’s topics include the burnout resulting from the oversaturation of virtual events we have been bombarded with the last 16 years of this Pandemic. (Obviously it only FEELS like 16 years…) as well as catering fails.

We are featuring an interesting (?) article today, that we will critique for you and link it down below. Also linked will be the article from the entity I couldn’t remember the name of #blondemoment . We will also review CDC guidelines on how to wear a mask because some people still do not know.

And the article totally mentions how much was paid for registration and I (TJ) got it wrong.. admitting fault, blaming lack of caffeine! - ENJOY!
