Rotarian Jackie Njeru from Kenya is an advocate for deaf individuals, Her 10-year-old son lost his hearing at the age of 2. After trying many solutions, she decided, with the support of friends, to get him Cochlear implants. Her efforts with her son motivated her to stand up for the rights of other deaf individuals in the area. Today she speaks out and encourages others so to do the same. Much of the attention is on the deaths in these too often happening situations but many neglects to think about those that remained mentally and physically impacted by the occurrence for the rest of their lives.
