In this episode Dr. Susan Mohini Kane talks about why we first start singing as children. She also leads us through the development of one young girl's singing from age 4 to age 8. Welcome to Season Three of THE POWER OF SINGING Podcast entitled: The Power of Children Singing. Our host for this season is Joyce Wells of Enjoy Your Sound.com. Episode #1 features Rich McKinney, a wonderful musician and teacher who lost his vocal cords through exposure to agent orange in Vietnam. Without his own voice, Rich has a unique perspective on discovering the ability to make sound and how, when your own voice is gone, you have unique challenges. Rich wrote a song for this episode called

Welcome to Season TWO of the Power of Singing PODCAST! We are the Santosha Voice Group, five voice professionals from different walks of life who believe that singing, and the resulting music we make, is powerful and life-transforming. We'd love for you to join in!

As a bonus, our little group decided to do a holiday episode where we share our stories about being professional singers at the holidays and what the music really means to us. We also share four beautiful holiday songs: "Season's Greetings" composed and played by Rich McKinney and sung by Joseph Gárate; "The Secret of Christmas" played by Kristof VanGrysperre and sung by Susan Mohini Kane; "Let there by Peace on Earth" performed on guitar and voice by Joyce Wells; and "Au pied de mon lit" by Lili Boulanger performed by Heather Fetrow.

Susan Mohini Kane finishes up this first season of The Power of Singing Podcast: The Life-Transforming Power of Singing with her story, song, and question entitled "The Power of Singing to Affirm One's Existence". The Santosha Voice Group panel will discuss her question on what it means to "make it" as a singer in 2022. The Santosha Voice Group Panel includes: Rich McKinney, choral conductor, composer, and pianist; Heather Fetrow, soprano, conductor, teacher, composer; Joseph Gárate, tenor, composer, DJ, lead singer for Diamonds; and Joyce Wells, singer, composer, vocal coach and director of Enjoy Your Sound.

Susan Mohini Kane is a former opera singer and college professor who quit her job during the pandemic to follow her dreams of writing and performing her own songs full time. This episode includes her story of how she came to believe in herself as a singer and how that lead to her making a promise to herself. Dr. Kane's recording of herself singing "Dignare Domine" from Dvorak's Te Deum with the Bakersfield Symphony and Choirs is beautiful and inspiring.

This episode features Rich McKinney, a magical pianist and composer. Rich used to be a wonderful singer before losing his voice to agent orange exposure in Vietnam. Now Rich has learned to speak with an external "voice". In this episode. Rich discusses how he grew up and how music became his life. In this very special episode, Rich shares one of two recordings of himself singing, before he lost his voice. Though the recording quality is not great, you can still hear the extraordinary performance of Rich who both sings and plays the piano. After his story and song, Rich leads the Santosha Voice Group (Heather Fetrow, Joseph Gárate, Joyce Wells, and Susan Mohini Kane) in a discussion of being self-critical or self-supportive when performing. Each panel member shares something personal and touching.
