It's not always the first marriages that we have an opportunity to capture. Sometimes, it's further down the path that someone finds the love of their life. Such is the case with Amanda and Matt.
Matt is a scientist in the literal sense. He has a PhD in Physics and assists in awarding financial grants to science based applicants for research and study. Amanda is a real estate professional, owning and operating multi-family units for rental. Two professionals who found each other and decided they wanted to be together forever.
Their day was fantastic with beautiful weather. They didn't bother with bridesmaids and groomsmen, just he two of them. They shared some intimate moments alone, but also celebrates with friends and family. They had a Budweiser clydesdale horse show up for photo opportunities and had a great time on the dance floor. Intersting enough, Amanda is a big fan of New Kids on the Block....which I didn't even realize continue to make "new" music today? Quite interesting actually. Finishing the night off with an epic fireworks show was the perfect ending to this fun day.

Many forget that video is where it all started for us. We began shooting video coverage for corporate and then wedding clients first, then began to incorportate photography later on. So why was that?
It was my first love :) I still to this day believe video is better at capturing those once in a lifetime moments. There is no replacing seeing the reactions, smiles, and movements. On top of that, sound is such a crucial element. From the music selection to the vocals of speech, you just can't replace hearing the voices of those you love.

The English Barn was the perfect setting for the wedding day of Hannah & William. With a surprise mid-ceremony rain shower, the couple and their guests embraced the weather and just had a great time celebrating in the rain.
In to dinner and dancing and closing the night off with a private last dance, it was a fun and magical day for Hannah & William.

A little behind the scenes of a senior photo shoot with Logan in Downtown Columbia, MO. Today I'm on the 50mm F1.2 and the Sony A7IV. With any photoshoot, it's about the subject feeling comfortable, so with senior boys, we tell them our goal is for it to be "mostly painless" :) They usually laugh a bit and it loosens them up.

When Brynden described how she wanted her wedding day to feel, she used the terms classic & elegant. But she was clear that it was a winter wedding, not Christmas!
This New Years weekend wedding ticked all the boxes to make her dream become a reality. It started at the Broadway downtown where the couple each had a beautiful suite to have hair, makeup, and enjoy cocktails with breakfast treats.
The ceremony was in the stunning Stephens Firestone Baars Chapel. Designed by renowned Finnish architect Eero Saarinen, designer of the St. Louis Arch, this venue has beautiful stained glass windows and doors, a 19th century pipe organ.
After the ceremony, the party moved to the Country Club of Missouri where a plated meal along with speeches and dancing. It was a special night for the locals as the Mizzou Tigers were competing in the Cotton Bowl and this couple along with their families were big football fans. Watching the final of the game together was a highlight of their evening as they celebrated a bowl game win.
The final event of the evening was a private last dance. This is one of my favorite events to end an evening as we remove everyone from the ballroom and allow the couple to privately have a last dance together for the evening. It's an intimate and quiet time for them to close out their amazing wedding day.

Blue Bell Farm in Fayette, Missouri was an amazing location for Lexi & Marco's wedding day. Set on 300 acres of rolling farm land, Blue Bell Farms has so many great locations for photo and video.
The couple started their day with a traditional Catholic ceremony at Our Lady of Lordes church in Columbia, MO. After ceremony and full mass, family portraits were completed in the church before we made our way out to the venue for wedding party photos and the couples portraits.
Inside, Blue Bell was lightly decorated for dinner and first dances. That feel of an old english style barn with open beams and warm lighting set the scene for a day that otherwise was cool with Misty rain.
The couple opted to have dancing on the back patio area where there was music, lighting, and smoke machines ready to get the party started. Everyone certainly enjoyed the evening it seemed with family and friends staying until the venues closing time.

We had a great day capturing the wedding day of Lexi & Marco at Blue Bell Farms. The day was cool with misty rain but there are so many fun ways to still get great photo & video on a day with those conditions.
One of our favorites can be umbrella shots after dark and the couple was more than happy to try anything. Couple that with the DJ's smoke machine and we had some real fun.

Dedicated by Congress as the official National WWII Museum, there are loads of history to see in this museum. Located in the heart of downtown New Orleans, this one is definitely work seeing. We didn't get a lot of photo or video here, but it's because there is so much reading, videos to watch, and audio playing to listen to that our coverage of it wouldn't really do it justice. Hope you enjoy just a few highlights and if you are ever in the area, be sure to check out the National WWII Museum in New Orleans.

We planned to make a stop in Fort Myers, Florida on our way up the west coast of Florida to see how they were fairing 5 months later after the devastation of Hurricane Ian. Needless to say, there is still a ton of work to be done, and construction crews are everywhere there still cleaning up the debris and starting the process of building back this southwest Florida hot spot.
Having been here before, it was really quite shocking to see how many places had just been wiped clean honestly with nothing left. Many lots are now just for sale. I assume owners deciding not to rebuild but just to sell this beachfront land that I'm sure is always in high demand.

We made our way from Miami across the old Tamiami trail to Marco Island to check out the beaches and area. I have to say the pace was very different with lots of retirees and high rise style condos on the beaches. It was a good visit so I hope this might give insight to anyone considering going to Marco Island for a visit.

We got up and caught the sunrise while at Melbourne beach and took a walk where we saw many Portuguese Man of War as well as some early morning surfers. Savannah, GA has been consistently known as "one of the world's friendliest cities" and we certainly found that to be true as well. The Angel Oak is 65 feet high with a circumference of 25.5 feet, shading an area of 17,000 square feet and estimated to be 300 to 400 years old. It's quite an impressive site to see in person.

I've been a Lumix GH5 user since 2016 and now have 3 that we use for mostly ceremony cameras during weddings. That being said, they are the most reliable camera I've ever used when it comes to setting them up on a tripod and recording for long periods. Direct sun, tropical temperatures, rain, mist, cold...nothing stops these cameras. As we all know by now, their autofocus isn't really usable, but with some knowledge of back button manual focus, they are very usable. Don't let the Lumix GH5 pass you by if you want a solid, reliable camera. It's definitely the workhorse of my gear.

We've been at work capturing wedding days, and I continue to load them up here so they are memorialized on the block chain, but also to just show we do so many different things in the world of photo/video.
Kaitlyn & Clay had their wedding in May, but it turned out to be a very hot day for that early in the season. Their location was on their family farm which was sprinkled with memories and history.

The champion Bur Oak in the McBaine river bottoms estimated to be between 350 and 400 years old. The tree has withstood centuries of lightning strike, drought, flood, and sadly vandalism. At 287 inch circumference, 130 foot spread, and estimated 90 feet tall, this piece of history is a regular sight for visitors to the area. We had a fun morning walk out to see "the big tree" and spend some time taking in her beauty.
