Today we meet Danny, who, as Director of Operations for a recovery ministry here in the Denver metro area, reached out to me at 180 Ministries for a connecting/networking conversation. What ensued is his story here - one you don't want to miss!
Danny's story started 'innocently enough' with some drinking and getting high - but would progress to opiates following a root canal - and then, nearly ending it all after being introduced to heroine, losing everything, and experiencing a couple of OD episodes. Clearly, God had a BETTER plan for Danny's journey! Let's go listen now...

Let’s meet Cat… Abandoned in the middle of the night by his mother, Cat would struggle with abandonment issues and feeling undeserving of love. Consequently, he would fall into the trap of alcohol and drugs at a very early age – becoming addicted to heroin by high school. Fast forward to arrests for 16 felonies and 42 misdemeanors, he would land in jail. But that would hardly be the ‘end’ of the story. In the cycle of relapse and detox that followed, he found himself absolutely hopeless with the idea of death looking better than any other options. Another ‘But God’ story – let’s go listen to this beautiful redemption story now!

Meet Steve – who, as a child with dyslexia thought he was what he heard others call him – “lazy or stupid”. With a family history of this wretched disease we call alcoholism, the risky behavior began early on. He would go on to hone his technical skills in the Army (thank you for your service, Steve), as well as a host of other things – including exacerbating his addictions, episodes of depression and suicide ideation. The dark would get darker including an accident that would take the life of a dear friend. And then ‘the miracle of forgiving himself’ and the regeneration recovery that took place turned it all around.

From the foster care system to street criminal to support his habit, James shares a daunting story of hardened criminal to TRUE RESTORATION! You don't want to miss this riveting story of drugs, felonies, jail and more. With over 200 arrests to his name, James shares of the 'very bad place with very bad people' where he would spend hard time, until an encounter with God would change it all. But it wouldn't be an easy transition! James would spend 21 days on the floor of a jail cell coming off heroine with no one wanting anything to do with him. The JOY that is now the trajectory of his story simply cannot be denied. Let's go listen now! (But WAIT - there's a technical difficulty at about the 6-min mark where we lose connection. The Ashleigh I know today is a bundle of joy and sunshine - though that's not always been her story. She always considered herself the 'ugly, awkward and odd kid' of 10 kids in her family, and began rebelling and using at an early age.
With a message of 'we don't want you' at early on when she came out of the closet at 16, the story of real madness began. Running away from the foster home/system, she'd land in jail, and lose her biological mom to MS early on. Heavy drugs came into the scene and the spiraling began.
Dying on the steps of our mutual church home, Ashleigh would be revived once again, finding true hope and IDENTITY. It's a beautiful story of reconciliation and healing that is available to ALL of us! Let's go listen now.

Meet James. In critical shape in his early 30s, with a diagnosis of cirrhosis of the liver, a short life expectancy and 'incurable' as the diagnosis, James has a MIRACLE story to share - and not just of physical healing, but so much more.
He tells of the duplicitous lifestyle he lived for so long, with one foot in the 'church world' and religion, and the other foot living solidly in the world with all the entanglements that addiction and more can bring. He even worked in the church, and masked things so well, that no one really knew.
The clarifying moment came, when upon his diagnosis, his wife gave the ultimatum. He learned via the 'long route' that going to meetings and stopping drinking were one way - or he could do the work and get the real recovery he so desperately longed for. Which way did he go? Let's go listen in now...

Meet Gina - a radically transformed biker chick who loves Jesus, her family and LIFE! ...because she spent so much of it lost, addicted and so much more.
Gina shares of her 'normal childhood' in a blended family - but with much older siblings who shared drugs with her at such an early age. She would be in and out of relationships/marriages, children, ultimately living the life filled with 'fancy cars in a fancy neighborhood, filled with nannies and maids' - and also living NEXT DOOR to the FBI.
It wasn't long before she was forced 'under cover' or risk losing her daughter - ultimately prison would follow. The story only gets better from there, as she's about to celebrate her 15th birthday of being clean and sober on March 7th - just a couple of days prior to this episode releasing! Let's meet Pete - Another of my favorite Redemption Stories!
I share a special bond with Pedro, as you'll hear that he was a student at 180 Ministries when my son, DJ was initially in the program with him. Like so many, Pete suffered an unthinkable tragedy early on, and dealt with it as so many do - turning to drugs to numb the pain of it all.
It would transpire to where he'd find himself facing 26 years in federal prison - but God had other plans! You won't believe how this story goes! Let's go take a listen now.

WOW! Today's guest, military Veteran, Mike Smith shares his harrowing story of growing up in a messy family, with an early event he describes as 'scarring me for life'. It brought on the first suicide attempt at 16...and would continue to unravel for years.
Once in the Air Force with an option to work for NASA, things were good - until they weren't. Kicked out for weed, the humiliation spiral began. He speaks to the 'little old lady' who shared the Gospel with him the first time - and how God would continue pursuit of him throughout the ups and downs of his journey.
Now as author, speaker and more, the REDEMPTION story continues to unfold. His book, The Gutter Gospel is his effort to "reach just one". Let's take a listen...

The devastatingly difficult story from childhood and beyond. John's story is laden with difficulties - and HOPE! He speaks of the insanity of growing up in a low-income area on the south side of London, rife with abuse, alcoholism and so much more. By age 11, he no longer wanted to be alive and attempted taking his own life.
Gratefully, he was unsuccessful, but the trauma would continue - for many years. He began 'ducking and diving' as he calls it, getting into the criminality side of life with drugs and alcohol at the center.
His quote, "addiction is a liar - it doesn't tell you what you are - only what you aren't" struck me. While not wanting to be the person he'd become, he found himself hiding in the back of a church, where he felt safe...and where he met God. Let's go listen to the story as he tells it!

You'll LOVE the story Kathy Grace shares as she knows FULL WELL who her identify is now - tho she walked in a different understanding for years. With an abusive father and timid mother, she saw/believed that 'emotions are bad' and 'I can be replaced'.
She shares knowing about God early on, but never having a relationship. And with the messaging she received and believed, Kathy Grace began the transition process around age 19, changing her name, doing the hormone therapy and more.
Her incredible testimony ends with her finally hearing God calling her back to become the woman He had designed her to be - after living for ELEVEN years ) in the lifestyle...and she DOES. (I misspeak that number in my intro)
Listen as she shares the HOPE and ENCOURAGEMENT that we all need at some point - "You haven't gone too far. There's always HOPE"...and the FREEDOM is so worth it!"

Meet Jason - a well-mannered, clean-cut guy with a crazy story! Aren't they all?! I'm so grateful to have met Jason when my son was first in the Men's Center program at 180 Ministries. He was serving on staff as the Disciplinarian at that time - which brought its own unique challenges and opportunities.
And yet, 'once isn't enough' when it comes to Jason's story of recovery. As it is for many, relapse can be a part of that recovery journey. With homelessness, shelter, jail and more as a part of his journey, the relationships would be the ultimate saving grace. When P. Daniel steps foot onto the scene one more time, Jasons asks himself, "Why is this guy here again?" - and we see once again, LOVE WINS. Ashley spent much of her life being the 'invisible one', mistreated and abused, frequently placed in really harmful situations as a child. She would be the caretaker to her siblings and considered herself the 'rescuer' until the cycle of addiction began to consumer her, too.
She now speaks to learning how to 'show up and be seen and still have scars'! I relate so well, don't you? Let's go listen now - and please share broadly with someone you believe may benefit from Ashley's story!

The destructive patterns would begin early on, as they do in so many of the stories we hear - and then came what would be known as 'the Divine Set up! Years down the road, Michelle has made a list of the things she was praying for in a godly man. Y'all - the story is so beautiful! Let's go take a listen now...

Meet Joe - with a harrowing story of addiction, suicide attempts, and no idea of his identity, Joe shares some explicit parts of his journey. As such, you'll hear me add a word of CAUTION in my opening dialogue - to listen at your own risk. Parts of his testimony were difficult for me to hear, and yet stories of heroine abound, as do trap houses and rescuing children and women from trafficking - they are more common than I know or understand.
Now, however, Joe is a messenger of HOPE, with his own ministry called, 'Warpath Ministries', he is on a mission to share that same hope - the hope ofJesus Christ. And as you'll hear, Joe has paid the price, sharing in his words that, "Pain is the price of admission to a new life" - and what a life it is! Meet Susan - Mom to Andrew from our last episode! This mother shares the good, the bad, and the ugly of this disease through the lens of a parent. As a military family, there were ample moves along the way, and somehow that saying, "Birds of a feather, flock together" rings true in this story.
At one point along the way, she shares the fearful dark side of the near-fatal overdose situation, in back-to-back trips to the ER. Ultimately, Andrew, recognizing the truth of his situation, stating, 'I need help.' But the story doesn't end there.
Her back story in learning of Teen Challenge and actually hearing David Wilkerson speak is captivating. His story, encapsulated in the book, The Cross and the Switchblade' is a classic and one I recommend to everyone acquainted with this disease.

Andrew describes his journey of addiction in the title of today's episode. At one point he knew he was 'at death's gate' with a pit of emptiness that was eroding his very life.
But it had't always been that way, and thankfully, that's hardly the end of the story. Andrew grew up in a beautiful, loving family and enjoyed a great life, as he describes it. But then a terrible accident 'turned on' the addiction that had been lurking since birth.

Just WOW! Meeting Jennifer was such a treat for me - and I trust it will be for you, as well! Not only does she have a phenomenal story, but how she and her husband are now helping others in the most remarkable way! It's just another amazing story of Redemption!
Growing up in Miami and with her parents splitting up in her early years, Jennifer was hit with a LOT of trauma early on, to include the murder of her favorite uncle at a mere 7 years old. She was violated early with drugs and molestation as a part of her reality. Throw in Hurricane Andrew, and they simply did not know if they would survive.
She would discover 'safe love' vs 'survival love' and experience a plethora of heartache along the way. There's a LOT to uncover in her story - ultimately that of HOPE. Now she and her husband are the co-founders of Chameleon Love where they pride themselves in being able to help people establish strong foundations and set healthy boundaries in all relationships.

Meet Steve - whose gripping story of recovery and redemption eclipse the long and winding road, with a 13-year stop along the way in a Colorado penitentiary. Steve is well-versed now in what he refers to as the "Gold Standard" of recovery.
And trust me, having tried sobriety for ten years on his own, he learned some of the most difficult lessons in the hardest of ways.
From feeling that sense of 'socially awkward' with which so many can identify, Steve became the 'terrible drunk' with a real Jekyll and Hyde personality to go along with it. Having his first drink at age 13, he, unlike so many others, literally hated it! But the spiraling pattern of this disease in his journey was just beginning.

Greetings and Happy New Year! I love this time of year - this sense of 'new beginnings'. Today I'm so happy to introduce you to Christine - a dear friend in recovery in my own program, ironically called 'New Beginnings'!
Christine shares her testimony in such a raw, authentic, vulnerable way - one I know you'll relate to. My hope is, that while she, too, experienced the relapse of a loved one, the story didn't end there. Much like I had to learn, as well. Which is why the title holds such relevance to me.
With an 'ideal' childhood as she recalls, she soon recognized that there was a lot she didn't know or understand, and would have to learn through her own process of discovery - oftentimes messy - much like our own.
She shares how she and her spouse are working really hard in this space of "honest, open and humble". And that's what I believe you will hear woven throughout this episode. Christine doesn't hold back anything, and yet her humility in this space of learning is so precious. I hope it blesses you deeply.

Yet you and I both know, it's far from the truth. By now we recognize that literally, everyone has a story. Which is why I'm so grateful to each person who bravely shares their experience, strength and hope, to give us just that, for when we most need it.
Lacy is no stranger to 'hard' as her winding story will speak to. From divorced, alcoholic parents, to jail, to her own divorce and more, you'll be encouraged to know that you, too, can do hard things . Once feeling like the 'throw away child' and acting accordingly, she now models a different life for her own children, and those with whom she's blessed to share in her home-schooling journey and beyond.

Meet Creigh, contestant on The Voice! I was so inspired when hearing his introduction on this year's season of The Voice, I immediately reached out to see if he would be willing to share his awesome testimony! Fortunately, he shared his 'yes' and here we are!
To hear once again that "You are not alone" and to not let this disease 'rob you of your best life' was so encouraging! In this holiday season when gatherings with friends and family can be difficult at best for many of us, Creigh's story is such a powerful reminder of the power of vulnerability. Let's check it out now...

Meet JD - Men's Center Director for 180 Ministries here in Denver. His story begins as a young kid, lacking self-confidence and real identity, though not a bad childhood as some stories.
Recognizing he wanted to 'get away', he'd ultimately join the Marines and land in Okinawa, Japan for his first assignment. Things got dark, as this self-proclaimed former 'people pleaser' would gravitate towards the 'bad guys', diving into behaviors where, ultimately, everything came crashing down. With a sexual assault situation that never got resolved, he fell deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole of addiction, not even realizing how bad things had gotten, with meth and heroine now as his 'friends'.
But God - had a better plan for JD when he finally sought help and heard that "He sees and He knows." And friend, He sees you, too. Come listen in...

Karen is well acquainted with the depth of loss, grief and all that is enveloped in the world of the alcoholic/addict. And yet, with 37 years of recovery to her name, she now helps countless others in their journey to recovery.
There are so many nuggets of wisdom shared throughout this episode! A favorite quote from the 'big book' states, "Glass in hand, we have warped our minds". And with the main dish and multiple 'sides', Karen was well on her way to a life 'off the rails'!
Listen now as she speaks to the hole in her soul that would have her trying numerous ways in which to fill it. She speaks to things with which we're all well acquainted - the shame and guilt. Pulling her 3-yr-old daughter close, she recognized she was dying from the disease of alcoholism. And then came the 24-hour chip from AA...and for the first time she realized, she had HOPE.

Meet Kayla - self-admitted naive, sheltered home-school girl from a loving family who meets her Prince Charming at Bible School! Life is grand and married life 'seemed so easy' - until it wasn't.
Kayla had never known or experienced the devastating effects of alcoholism or addiction in her family. And when she was introduced, the ugly, dysfunctional story began to unfold with fervor.
Grateful to those who would step into their story and intervene in love, as only real love can do, the story doesn't end here. The emotional roller-coaster ride that she and her four children were riding includes an incredible ongoing story of recovery.

Meet Monica. As a self-proclaimed "fixer of people", she would find solace, relief and begin her healing journey in the rooms of Al-Anon. And what a journey it's been! Her story begins the week after Thanksgiving when her son-in-law called stating, "I can't find her" (implying her daughter was missing). Subsequent calls were about to ensue to the hospitals, jails and so on - when the walls came crashing down in the worst, most unexpected ways. The tragedies of this disease are as varied as the number of people impacted. Horrific. Distressing. And yet, even in the midst of the worst, God comes shining through in the most unexpected ways, with FORGIVENESS at the heart of it for us all. You don't want to miss this episode, and I pray you'll share it with numerous others in your spheres of influence. HOPE is real - and it's available for you, too!

Meet Dr. Nicholas Samstag, who shares his story and work in the field of psychoanalysis and more. In the course of our conversation, we look at the intersection of mental health and addiction, and beyond. With a wealth of experience around the 'soothing' component of addiction, he poses some great questions and recognizes that no one size fits all. I'm left pondering his response to my question regarding HOPE, and any thoughts he'd like to share with our listeners. As such, I'd love to hear your thoughts following!

"I felt the shame" - was one of the earliest quotes from Kathy. As she shares her own tragic experience at such an early age, she's also quick to point out that "God kept me" as things could have gone drastically different for her. There are so many beautiful highs littered with numerous lows - sound familiar?
Kathy's story is just that - it's hers. But trust me, you will find multiple connections in her story likely to your own journey. Our prayer is always that you will find HOPE and HELP - consolation to know that you're NOT ALONE. She also shared a remarkable resource for those with mental illness. Let's go listen in now!

Meet Nick Pollard - self-proclaimed people pleaser and recovered addict. This Instagram personality has an incredible story (as we all do!) and how he is sharing his many breakthroughs and thoughts on recovery so publicly is how we met. You'll hear the heart-wrenching story of multiple failed marriages, trying to soothe the pain of family revelations that hurt so deeply, he was simply self-medicating, as we all do in some form or another. He knew he was dying when he reached out for help - spending 4 days in detox before he was able to blow less than .8. It's heartbreaking and celebratory all wrapped inside this incredible episode. Here is to your healing, as well!

THIS!! The TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY of "This Is Your Wake-Up Call" and the 50th episode! Who else but Pastor Daniel Petruska, CEO of 180 ministries is my guest today. And we recount some of the INCREDIBLE stories from the last time we spoke - in January of 2023. There is a LOT of hope, healing and HELP within. I do hope you'll listen - and please share broadly.
There are so many who will connect with the amazing redemption stories that God continues to write into each of our lives. The vehicles He chooses to use may look different for each of us - but He's at work with a plan and a purpose. (see Jer 29:11)
As Pastor Daniel so adeptly states, "The struggle's not going anywhere" - but the HOPE is readily available.

Meet Jennifer in Atlanta - as a young girl, she recalls always trying to avoid the pain in the short term for the grander plan in the long run. Her pattern of realizing that "takers are always attracted to the givers" is likely something with which many of us can identify.
Recognizing now that she was always searching for the unconditional love that seemed to be missing from the 'good girl' role she'd strived to be for years. Later she would make some changes, letting go of those toxic relationships that seemingly plagued her journey throughout much of her story.
Her recovery includes learning to keep her side of the street clean, and to "learn to stand not against your fellows, but for yourself".

Meet Barb - CEO and female entrepreneur - and SO.MUCH.MORE! As a woman born in KS and not afraid of work, she shares candidly of the roller-coaster that her story has been. The highs and lows of epic wins and losses - she shares it all.
The story unfolds with her husband, Dave, the bull-rider on the circuit, them owning multiples businesses, pockets of massive financial success and markets crashing, along with losing family members to suicide. Wretched grief! And then, perhaps the hardest tragedy, with their daughter, and a relapse involving an overdose with fentanyl.
This only became the FUEL to power a game-changing series of decisions which has led to an incredible opportunity for the field of mental health and addiction - which is why I'm so very honored for you to hear Barb's story. This is a MUST HEAR - MUST SHARE story. And please contact me following if you'd care to learn more! (303.641.1153; Jeri.RiseUp@gmail.com)

Meet Jordan - a beautiful young woman with a heroic story of overcoming - much like where you might be, also! When drawing pictures in Kindergarten of tombstones with RIP Dad, a caring adult stepped in and shifted everything for this young girl. Thanks to her principal, recognizing the RAGE and fear that this little girl was exhibiting, Jordan was able to get out of an exceedingly toxic and abusive situation. While both parents were alcoholics, mom found recovery and planted seeds for the help that Jordan would one day find for herself.

In this incredible episode, you will meet Sharon; renowned author, speaker, professor and therapist. The depth of this woman's story of recovery has such far reaching levels of impact. I urge you to not only listen, but to share broadly.
From growing up in a teetotaling, legalistic religious household, Sharon really had no grid for the idea of alcohol having any sort of impact beyond "relief", when her ER
doc suggested a glass of wine to ease her anxiety (there wasn't an understanding of what that was 'back then'). As you can imagine, for Sharon, that first drink quickly spun out of control. And as one who was active in her church community, raising children and in the throes of 'adulting', the shame and isolation would soon become her story, too.
Sharon Hersh offers a treasure-trove of experience, strength and hope - for those on BOTH sides of the recovery journey. She is a prolific writer with such extraordinary talent for touching the very depth of your soul with her words that drip with wisdom - from her journey and beyond. Be sure to find her on social media, grab any of her books (I can't wait to read her most recent) and share her story broadly. It's one that will touch everyone!

Meet Eric...just WOW! This story is a bit outside of the usual conversation, as Eric's addiction included alcohol, but pornography was his drug of choice. He shares some incredible stories of his struggle - and to be clear, it is the struggle - UNSPOKEN in our culture in large part - of so many.
His resources are also something of note - to include that he, himself is now a coach for men struggling in this area. He names books for kids, both toddlers and teens on this absolutely NECESSARY CONVERSATION, some apps and so much more.
We are already planning the 'next' recording with his female counterpart who coaches many women who have spouses struggling in this area. You won't want to miss that one, either! If not for you, for certain, someone in your circle of influence. If you'd like to connect with Eric, you may do so at ERIC@POWERFULERIC.COM.

Hey, all! Meet Heather - with the reputation of the 'good girl' and 'that girl who goes to church', she shares a story not unlike many of our own. Or is it? On the day of her wedding, her souse was completely smashed in their honeymoon room, and all she can think if, "How do I get him to stop?!" - the question so many of us have asked - or maybe are asking right now.
Heather has not only experienced, but overcome in so many areas of her life. Living on the sober side of the street now, she also shares a podcast called, "Warrior Words" - that you'll absolutely want to check out, as they are stories filled with hope and speak to the beauty in the broken.

Today Joann shares her incredible story of experience, strength and hope, unlike what we have heard to date. Her fairy-tale beginning begs the question, Why? And yet, we know that the disease of addiction knows no boundaries. There's no race, socio-economic condition, sex or otherwise that this disease has not touched.
While she thought her ex-husband was the 'prince-charming' in her story, rescuing her from a deplorable situation, she would come to learn differently...much differently.
While learning to 'do something different' and spending years in this space of self-discovery, working the steps and doing the work has freed Joann to new levels at every turn! Her story is remarkable, and one that I hope you will not only listen to, but share broadly. Her depth of understanding, and the HOPE that drips from her story is one for every ear.

Meet Joe from Long Island. Former Wall Street junkie who OD'd on opiates. With 6 cans of NARCAN saving him in the bathroom stall at Penn Station, you know this guy has had a few 'wake up calls' of his own.
His story is another 'don't miss'! He now speaks and coaches others at a high level on the importance of perseverance, growth and flipping your mindset....all tools he'd need in his overcoming journey.
Please share this incredible message with your circles of influence - and I'd be grateful for your RATING wherever you're listening to this show. I trust Joe's story will inspire you, regardless on which side of the street you find yourself.

Well, hello again listeners! I'd like to offer my apologies for taking so long in getting a new episode your way. There have been numerous reasons behind this 'lapse', including rescheduling several of our guests due to conflicts - as well as having Covid and losing my voice for a bit. (there's some relapse involved, as well, which I'll share on another episode)
All of that to say, I can't WAIT for you to hear today's guest. Her story is not only remarkable in her own recovery journey through an exceedingly difficult childhood with alcoholic, abusive parents - with trauma so extensive that by age 21 she wanted to end her life! Then...recovery...with God doing for her what she couldn't do for herself.
Ultimately, the struggles with her own grown son began, where he would be walking down the same dark path.
It truly is remarkable - not only how this woman and I crossed paths, but I now know it was an incredibly important 'Divine connection'.
Finally, the resources she shares are extensive! Please, do not miss listening to this episode, and I do hope you will share it broadly!

While Ralph was once "all about the party", he shares in true humility the journey of some 20 years and the damage done along the way before he'd pray the prayer that led to a vision of the man who would guide him to recovery. A remarkable, powerful story of pain and hurt, from a man whose tender heart would never intentionally hurt another - now brings hope to so many through his own recovery. You DON'T want to miss this episode - and I'd invite you to share it broadly!

Found dead by police from an overdose with his car still running at an intersection (interview available here: https://youtu.be/87VuDO_oyvo?si=JqCKmxsY3AVImiu6), Adam has a story - like each of us - and yet indescribable for many. He shares of the 'early days' where, as a star athlete and more, his 'recreational use' spiraled out of control after losing his best friend to suicide.
Adam would spend years in search of sobriety - and from being 86'd from the homeless shelter, to Bible studies and men'g groups, hoping to obtain that which he most longed for...Adam is now is ON MISSION to provide the HOPE that living clean and sober brings. You simply cannot miss this episode - and I do pray you'll share it broadly, as his organization, 'Recovered on Purpose', is all about the HOPE that can be for each of us.

Today's guest is Sarah - incredible wife, mom of 4 in a beautifully blended family - and survivor of some epic tragedy in the course of her journey. When her 1st husband was arrested on the doorsteps of their home in Colorado, Sarah was stunned to learn of the 'double life' he had been living. And with two small sons at that time, life took a massive turn. Yet the beautiful redemption story that God continues to weave will thrill you as you hear what's happening now...

Meet celebrity guest, David Scheetz Jr., renowned for his seasons with Discovery Channel's 'Deadliest Catch', David has an incredible testimony of recovery - and not just from the unspeakable amounts of drugs and alcohol that littered his past, but from the extraordinary abuse that he endured as a child - from those he should have been able to trust the most.
There're the behaviors that would result in frequent visits to juvenile detention to super max prison cells. He just wanted out..It's heartbreaking and gut-wrenching on so many levels - followed by the redemption story that can only be written by the One who loves him most - and shines through him as he brings the message of Light and Hope to the lost and hopeless in his community in Minnesota.
My hope is that you will not only listen to this episode, but that you will share it broadly to those who are also searching for a message of HOPE.

In this episode, I'm excited to welcome back a couple of previous guests, and TOGETHER on this episode they expound on a separate and yet similar topic - that of sexual addiction.

At one point, drinking a handle a day, enjoying the 'legal heroine' of roxy at a cost of $700 a week, she knew something had to give. Hear how her miraculous turnaround came to be...

In this compelling episode, you'll hear Karen's "wake-up calls" in her journey with her spouse's sex addiction. As the wife of a pastor, the betrayal experienced as an affair came to light, and the road to recovery began. Recovery in this addiction includes such things as polygraphs, STD testing and more! Karen learned about boundaries in this healing journey, and of the trauma - the ROOT of addiction, while praying for God to "Do whatever it takes..."
While this topic in recovery is new to this podcast, the addiction is hardly new. If you were in any way impacted by this episode, please share broadly and bring the HOPE that so many are seeking - while likely suffering in silence. And help us to spread the word, that you are not alone!

Meet Jan - with 30 YEARS of recovery to her name, she has a lot of wisdom to share through the course of her journey. Having been personally blessed through Jan's recovery in the rooms of Al-Anon, it's such a privilege to have her as a guest on my show. As you'll hear in this episode, it wasn't an easy journey to recovery; in fact, it took over a year to just come to work her way through Step 1 in Al-Anon - given her personal story with a religious upbringing that did more damage than good. Perhaps you can relate?

Raised as a military brat filled with a lot of pent up hostility and a spouse who had her own baggage of family dysfunction and mental illness, their journey was bound to have some struggles. But when the call from jail came, this time Regina was done. Having accepted unacceptable behavior for too long, something had to change. Would it be enough? Or would it be too late? In this episode, Julie shares what true surrender brought her. Join me in the incredible recovery story of Pastor Daniel Pastruska, CEO of 180 Ministries Teen Challenge of the Rockies, as well as Vibrant Life Behavioral Health Center. As a young man raised in a strict and legalistic religious system, he shares how he 'sold his soul' to the drugs that would lead to his near-fatal demise. Longing to no longer hurt and estranged from his parents, he's confronted by one 'just like him' - and so the story of his recovery goes.
Daniel is now 'that one' - to the many addicts seeking recovery at 180. And because of this man's "yes" to taking the lead, now numerous men and women celebrate him for his 20 YEARS in heading up this program in the Rocky Mountain Region.
