Join us in this episode of the Real Deal Villa as we discuss food as medicine. With special guests Tyson Drummond of https://ZenRx.shop, and his son, aspiring entrepreneur and musical artist Lucien.
Cutting out processed foods from your diet involves eliminating or significantly reducing the consumption of foods that have undergone extensive manufacturing and contain added sugars, artificial flavors, preservatives, and other chemical additives. Instead, the focus shifts towards whole, unprocessed foods in their natural state, such as animal products, eggs, beef, fruits, vegetables, and fermented foods.
By doing so, you provide your body with essential nutrients and reduce the intake of empty calories, highly processed seed oils, and unhealthy fats (unsaturated) often found in processed options. This dietary shift can lead to numerous health benefits. First and foremost, it helps maintain stable blood sugar levels, reducing the risk of diabetes and energy fluctuations. Additionally, cutting out processed foods aids in weight management, as these items tend to be calorie-dense and low in satiety. Moreover, it can improve heart health by reducing the intake of trans fats and excessive sodium. With fewer additives and chemicals, your body may experience reduced inflammation and improved digestion. Embracing a diet centered around whole foods and fermented foods empowers you to take control of your health, promoting long-term well-being and vitality.
It's not easy going through hard times, but we can be grateful for the lessons learned, and especially for the restful, peace-filled seasons!

"Oh, I've just been so busy." Busy. Busy. Busy. That stinkin' word drives me crazy. Let's change the way we think and the way we speak.
FINALLY! Josh Brummer joins me to look back on helping me learn to snowboard in New Mexico. What a great trip we had, can't wait for the next one.
Checking in! Have had some great days and focus, back on the bike, and working on the biz.
Enjoy.
I have the honor of interviewing a good friend of mine - Brandon Tull. We've recently reconnected through social media, and he's taking steps to make some health and career changes in his life. Enjoy the convo.

Whoop whoop! I'm pumped. But there's a little bit of caution happening. Hear my rock wall climbing story and how that relates to me going snowboarding for the FIRST TIME.
There are things within your control and outside of your control. Handle what you can proactively, and respond how you can reactively.
Day 2 of this 30-day program that Coach D put together for me. I'm noticing I'm more focused on control, rather than just getting through the workout. That's good!

I'm back! Diving into Coach D's custom workout routine he put together for me. I had to take the time to really see how I was going to tackle day 1. I share about that experience.
Just turned 40, I take a look back and a look forward.
P.s. Isn't it amazing that we can record audio and video to commemorate important moments of life?
If you've ever decided to make a change in your life and started a journey away from something to a different place, then that's worth celebrating. The wins along the way will help keep you moving!
Yo, I've been sick. Haven't podcasted, haven't worked out. Looking forward to getting well and getting back to the plan. For now, it's tea and honey, hot soup, and Netflix for days. I'll be back.
I'm having to adjust the way I view exercise, diet, and goals. Are you stuck in your ways? I have been for a while, but I think it is time to have a fresh set of eyes on my world.

This is a question that you need to ask yourself - what is success? What does it look like for YOU? You can see what others are doing that would make them consider themselves successful, but do you want their lives? Do you want to spend your time doing what they do?
I share my thoughts on what success looks like for me.

I got stuck in a rut, and it shifted my entire day for weeks now. Finally, this morning, I got up and broke the loop.

There's a huge difference between being motivated and being disciplined. Where I haven't been so motivated, I've still managed to act in a disciplined way.

Yeah, I want to look good, but I also want to feel good. After years of sitting at a desk and not taking care of myself, it's time to focus on rebuilding a strong foundation.

Recording daily has made me realize that some days sucks and others are great, and I can't expect 100% awesome all the time and shouldn't expect 100% crappy all the time. Embrace the suck and embrace the awesome as it comes your way.

I couldn't seem to find a healthy balance of rest and still getting things done today. Maybe it was anxiety. Not sure, but it ended up alright in the end.
Not every workout is going to set new records or be your best ever. There's this aspect of training that comes into play, and you train to perform but you don't always perform.

Struggling with energy levels, trying to get diet under control. Also talking about the role of diet and exercise in reaching my goals.
Apparently, I'm a fair-weather bike rider. I made all the excuses not to get out in the cold this morning. It got me thinking, though, what's the difference between giving a reason why you can't do something and making an excuse not to do something?

Is there something you'd like to accomplish that would require training? I've done a few hiking trips in Colorado and have learned things each time that has helped me to train before I've gone back, and it's worked.
I broke route on my ride today to go explore more trails in the park where I ride. It felt like a new adventure and reminded me of a time I learned a new principle on a mountain trip.

Welcome to the podcast Chris Cerna! We hear his story about deciding to change and what plan he followed to help him reach his goals, where he came from, where he is now, and where he's going.
Today was a milestone day for me in my career as I'm now fully self-employed. There's so much opportunity and possibility ahead, I'm pumped for what's ahead!

My routine got jacked up today and won't look the same moving forward, I need to pivot! I share about coming to a fork in the road, and how my diet is strategic, versus strict.
So I fell off my last 30-day plan! But I'm back on, and it's new and improved. New segments. New thoughts. Thanks for listening!

I knew today would be challenging, so I planned and executed - despite a challenging morning workout. I count it as a win.
Allowing yourself room to reflect on yourself, ask questions, meditate, check your head and you heart can be a very healthy and beneficial activity.
There's a fine line, it seems, between being grateful for all of the blessings in your life, and being discontent with the way things are as you seek to grow in different areas of life.
We all have stories of when we've decided to DO or NOT DO something, and those decisions have the power to affect the way we live, feel, and who we are. Decisions have the power to shift the trajectory of our lives.
You never know who you'll affect by sharing some of what you're learning or experiencing.
They say "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail." and this is true in many cases! Don't let your day happen to you, you happen to your day. Go in with a plan, and it's less likely that you'll fail at achieving what you set out to achieve.
There are plenty of ways to eat, bulk up, lose weight, do cardio, etc. - but what's YOUR WAY according to YOUR GOALS? There's no one way to do things, and what we do should be contingent upon what we're trying to accomplish.
What else do we have in this world if we don't have relationships? We're here to share our experiences with others who are on this rock flying through space. How are you connecting with those you love the most? How are you meeting new people to share experiences with?
There's an idea called "habit stacking" where you knock out a certain set of tasks in chunks during the day, to help not only build habits but build them together. I'm trying to do this on a daily basis to get my stuff knocked out in short bursts.
Quitting doesn't happen at the time of giving up, it happens before, and it happens in the mind. We often look for a way out of discomfort and justify our decision to quit very easily. I was sick, felt like crap, but decided in a moment to push on, from the simple of thought of "go until I can't go anymore".
Enjoy.
We all make excuses, especially for ourselves. Have you ever really listened to someone else when they bring a critique or an issue they have with your action, or inaction? We could learn much from humbling ourselves and taking extreme ownership of our crap.
