Dozens of women dressed in black gathered Friday outside the New York City courthouse where disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein is standing trial for rape, loudly chanting anti-assault anthems inspired by a Chilean feminist collective.
"It's not my fault — not where I was, not how I dress," the protesters can be heard shouting in unison in a video clip tweeted by The New York Times journalist Jodi Kantor, who won a Pulitzer Prize with her colleague Megan Twohey for their reporting on sexual misconduct allegations against Weinstein.
"The rapist is you," the assembled women said, apparently pointing directly at the courthouse where the Oscar-winning producer faces charges that he raped a woman in a Manhattan hotel room in 2013 and performed a forcible sex act on another woman in 2006.

When former Grey’s Anatomy star Isaiah Washington was wrestling with whether to leave the Democratic Party and sign up as a Republican, one of the people from whom he sought for advice was Corrin Rankin. She’d been there, done that.
She knew that being a black Republican can be hard. Rankin, founder and president of Legacy Republicans Alliance (LRA), which aims to expand the GOP’s black membership, could sympathize with Washington’s dilemma. After all, it was just a high-profile edition of the struggle she had faced earlier.
In 2008 Rankin voted for President Barack Obama, but shortly afterwards she began re-evaluating certain Democratic policies, especially with regard to how they affected black Americans. She believed that high taxes and regulations were harming businesses, including her own. Rankin owed a bail bond agency in Redwood, Ca. She was an active, second generation bail bondsman—or was before the state of California enacted a ban on the industry.

On Wednesday, November 13th, Byron Allen will have his day in court ... Allen, head of Entertainment Studios, will be headed to supreme court to argue a case against the cable giant Comcast. This is a result of lawsuits that he brought against Comcast as well as others like Charter, arguing that he was being prevented from having his networks carried on their systems. He’s suing them under the guise of a civil rights act from the 1800s. Allen decided to bring the lawsuit forward because in his opinion,”they’re not good corporate citizens,” because every year they spend $70 Billion licensing cable networks and Black folks “get practically zero.” He noticed that he wasn’t alone in feeling this way, but no one was willing to speak out. So, he did it. He decided to use the civil rights act of 1866 section 1981, which was put on the books to protect freed slaves and was the “very first civil rights act.” It was put there to ensure that we got “economic inclusion.”

Actor Jussie Smollett faces a felony charge for allegedly filing a false police report
"Empire" actor Jussie Smollett faces a felony charge of disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false report claiming two men attacked him last month, a Chicago Police Department spokesman tweeted Wednesday night.
Anthony Guglielmi said charges were approved by the Cook County State's Attorney Office and "Detectives will make contact with his legal team to negotiate a reasonable surrender for his arrest."
Filing a false police report is disorderly conduct, according to Illinois code. A class 4 felony is punishable by one to three years, the code says.
A bail hearing is anticipated for 1:30 p.m. CT Thursday, prosecutors said.
Smollett's transformation from victim to suspect in a reported attack that captured national headlines came on the same day that a high-ranking police source said Chicago detectives were working to obtain the actor's financial records.

In the clip, Van Allen talks with Jada, Willow Smith and Dr. Candice Norcott about why she stayed with the controversial singer for as long as she did.
"People say, 'Once they found out she was 14, why didn't you turn him in?' Because I loved him. I wanted to help him get better first because that's how we work as far as love goes," Van Allen says referencing disturbing allegations against the R&B star. It has garnered the support of U.S. Senator Patty Murray, U.S. Congressman Adam Smith, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray and many others working to create more just laws in Seattle, King County, and Washington State. Organizational allies include the Seattle Community Police Commission, the Black Law Enforcement Association of Washington, the King County Office of Law Enforcement Oversight, and the Washington Joint Task Force on the Deadly Use of Force in Community Policing.
The communities we serve, especially African-American, are disproportionately affected by fatal police shootings. In the decade from 2005 and 2014, over 200 people were killed by the police in Washington State. The exact number killed is not known, because Washington State, like almost all other states in the US, does not maintain an official statewide record of officer involved shootings.

What are the references to polygamy in the Bible? In biblical times it was common to find the custom of having more than one wife or husband at the same time. The truth is that the story of polygamy in the Old Testament is, well, a problem. Although monogamy was clearly God's intent - Genesis 2:22-24
The Mosaic Law accommodated the practice of marrying more than one wife, including captured prisoners from foreign conquests (Deuteronomy 21:1-17). Also, Gideon had many wives; Elkanah, a presumably godly man and the father of Samuel, had two wives.
Things gets even dicier when one considers the practice of the kings of Israel. King David, the "man after God's own heart," had eight wives. In 2 Samuel 12 when the prophet Nathan confronts David over his sin with Bathsheba, we read: "This is what the Lord God of Israel says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. I have given you your master's house and your master's wives into your bosom ... and I gave you the house of Israel and Judah, and as if this wasn't enough, I would have given you even more." Members of the classic Klymaxx lineup met up on an episode of the VH1 series Bands Reunited in 2003 to perform some of their vintage hit singles. The show was met with favorable ratings as the drama disclosed member Cheryl Cooley's unauthorized use of the name and touring as the band "Klymaxx", without the consent of the other members. Robbin Grider was missing in action at the time of the episode, and was not mentioned having been a member during the group's prime. In 2003 the group began touring together again with the exception of Robbin Grider and Cheryl Cooley.
On November 15, 2009, Unsung premiered on the TV One cable network. The documentary Klymaxx chronicled the story of the group's genesis and rise to fame. This time, all six members of the classic lineup, including Grider, appeared. There are now three separate Klymaxx bands: one lead by Cheryl Cooley, one lead by Bernadette Cooper, and one lead by Joyce Irby, with mixed reviews from fans after being promised a reunion album that never materialized and left fans disinterested in the three separate incarnations of Klymaxx.

Dallas Police Chief Is Still Defending Why Amber Guyger Isn’t Fired And Makes Even Less Sense
Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall is being slammed by activist for not firing officer Amber Guyger, who killed Botham Shem Jean in his own home on September 6. Yesterday only made matters worse when she claimed she was legally “prohibited” from firing Guyger—which several reports claimed was not true. Now, Hall has released a statement that only seems to dig herself further into a hole.
In a statement to ABC 8 in Dallas, Hall claimed she doesn’t “want to interfere with the on-going criminal investigation into [Guyger’s] actions.” She explained, “As an employer, DPD can compel Officer Guyger to provide a statement during a DPD administrative investigation and those statements given to DPD could potentially compromise the criminal investigation. That is not a risk I am willing to take,” she continued. “We cannot let the criminal case be determined on a ’technicality’ rather than the facts. An exhaustive and thorough criminal investigation is essential, and as soon as we are assured that conducting an administrative investigation will not impede on the criminal investigation, we will proceed.”
However, attorney Peter Schulte slammed Hall’s statement to ABC 8, saying, “When I read Chief Hall’s statement today, it just doesn’t make much sense to me. I don’t know if it’s ignorance or being naive, but it doesn’t make any sense legally.”

Stephen Ralph "Steve" Arrington is an American singer, songwriter, drummer, record producer, engineer and minister, who grew up in Dayton, Ohio.
Arrington joined the funk group Slave (founded 1975) on their third LP, called The Concept, in 1978 – originally to play percussion, then later becoming the drummer and a backing vocalist. Eventually Arrington took over lead vocals, singing on the hit singles "Just a Touch of Love", "Watching You" (which has been sampled by Snoop Dogg) and "Wait for Me".
Arrington left Slave in 1982, forming Steve Arrington's Hall of Fame, and had hit singles such as "Weak At The Knees" (which was sampled by Three Times Dope, Jay-Z, Jermaine Dupri, N.W.A, and others), and "Nobody Can Be You But You".
His most successful album was his 1985 solo work Dancin' in the Key of Life, whose title track became a Top Ten R&B hit. The single also spent three weeks at number two on the dance charts. Another single from the album, "Feel So Real" reached #5 in the UK Singles Chart in May that year. He was nominated for the NAACP Image Award for Best Male Artist of 1986.

Heavyweight prospect Efe Ajagba (6-0, 5 KOs) noticed something was strange when he came face to face with opponent Curtis Harper last Thursday.
“At the weigh-in was when I figured he was scared. He walked toward me and said he had watched all of my fights and that he needed me to take it easy on him. But why would I take it easy? This is my life,” said Ajagba to Premier Boxing Champions.
But when they came to face each other on Friday night at the Armory in Minneapolis - the fight never happened.

DJ Ready Red, early DJ and producer for the Geto Boys, has died after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 53.
Red (born Collins Leysath) passed away Friday (Aug. 24), according to the Geto Boys' Willie D, who posted a video on Instagram to share the sad news.
"He gave us our sound," Willie D said of Red, whom he called "the Musical Enforcer" and said was "responsible for most of the production of our early stuff and all of the sound on my first album, Controversy."
"To say that he was a pioneer would be an understatement. Red was before his time," added Willie D.
In 1986, Red became the first DJ and producer for the southern rap crew the Geto Boys, then know as the Ghetto Boys. He left the group in 1991 when they were recording the album We Can't Be Stopped. As Willie D pointed out, he also produced the rapper's first solo album, released in 1989.
The Geto Boys' Twitter account says funeral arrangements are pending.
BlacKkKlansman review – Spike Lee hits his targets again and again
Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman lights up like a pinball machine, pinging and flashing and clattering with N-bombs, blaxploitation tropes, strategic anachronisms and unsubtle premonitions of the New Trump Order. That’s a rephrasing gag-tactic – meaning that at one point someone actually talks about finding “the means for America to reclaim its former greatness”.
The movie is a broad satirical comedy of the 70s race war in the United States, a tale of passing for black and passing for white, and all based on the true story of Ron Stallworth, the black Colorado police officer who masterminded the infiltration of a local KKK chapter by posing as a white bigot over the phone and sending in white officers for face-to-face work.
