The Disciples didn't fully understand what it means to truly be following Jesus. We often don't "get it" spiritually, either. We can see Jesus halfway and not all of who he is. However, as Pastor Dave explains, there is hope for us.

In Mark 1:16-20, Jesus calls his first four Disciples, and we see how they answered. As Christ-followers, we are called to a deeper and deeper relationship with Jesus. The Lord of Heaven is calling you personally. Answer the call.
To what lengths are you willing to go to reach Jesus in a way that he can truly heal you and restore your life? Spend 3 1/2 minutes and consider how to be unstoppable in faith.
Is there something you've been avoiding because you feel fear? Focus on God. Cry out to Him in prayer. Align your next actions with His truth, even if you're scared, and then pray for the reassurance of the Lord's presence as you move forward.
Psalm 65:8 says the whole world is filled with awe at your wonders where morning dawns, where evening fades. You call forth songs of joy. How we get up in the morning matters and how we go to sleep matters. It is time to stand in awe of God. So let's be in awe of him together.

Luke 11:9-13 (NLT) 9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 11 Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
John 14:17-18. Meditate, apply, respond. Spend 15 minutes with God on these verses about the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
John 14:17–18 (NLT) 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. 18 No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you.
We need the Holy Spirit. In John 14 Jesus promises "another Helper," one of the same kind and quality, called alongside to help. And we desperately need His help.
John 14:15-16 (NLT) 15 “If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.

9/11 – 20 years later. It seems like there is as much, if not more, disillusionment and discouragement in our country today as there was in the first months following the attack of 9/11.
What we have just witnessed in these past weeks in Afghanistan is so hard to see, and it's even harder to try to make sense of.
After 20 years of war and thousands of brave servicemen and women making the ultimate sacrifice – on top of the many thousands of lives both lost and forever changed by the initial attack of 9/11 . . . After all of that - to watch how it all ended in just a few days leaves me almost speechless.
This is a follow-up devotion from, “Your Prescription From God,” which was our last devotion. I hope that this devotion will help you take a second look at this same truth, more from a meditative perspective. Just allowing these same truths to wash over you, and fill you, and strengthen you.

Whatever your circumstances are today, whatever you are going through, God has a prescription for you. And at whatever level of response that you can embrace this prescription today – you must. Whether forcing a response to this prescription or having it easily flow out of you, these verses must be a part of whatever God is carrying you through today.
This is a follow-up to our previous devotion episode titled, “Be Still and Know.” If you haven’t listened to that one yet, you may want to do that before listening to this one. Today, I’m just going to read verses that support the truth we dug into in the previous devotion. The goal today is to continue embracing the truth that we can truly “Be still, and know that our God - IS GOD!”
If you feel like your world is shaking, your foundations are crumbling, and your oceans are roaring, then grab your Bible, turn it to Psalm 46, and If possible, BE STILL for a few minutes, while we focus on BEING STILL and KNOWING that the God of Heaven – is OUR God.
God is not a heavenly MapQuest. God shows you which path to take in life, AS you Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and AS you do not depend on your own understanding, and AS you Seek his will in all you do. AS you do these things, God will set your path before you. He will make your way straight and smooth.
Sometimes, it seems like things are just not going right. But, we don’t have the big picture, in fact, we can’t have the big picture. What do we do, when we don’t know what to do? What do we focus on, when there are so many concerns? How can we ‘keep it together.' when it all seems to be unraveling? One of God's answers is in Romans 12:12.
Pastor Dave talks about resetting the focus of the podcast on meaningful interaction time with God. We want to help you meet God in every episode, in his living Word, and by His Holy Spirit, in a short but real, interactive time with God.
Have you ever wondered why Jesus Christ came to earth to live a perfect life and die on the cross? This is God’s mysterious will; that through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God's own plan would be fulfilled - making us his children.
If possible, just sit still for a few minutes with God right now. And maybe just say a prayer to ask God to be with you, and to speak to you from his Word.
Take 8 minutes to meditate on and pray through Rom 8:14-17.
Romans 8:14–17 (NLT) 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. 15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. 17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.
Philippians 4:6–9 (NLT) 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. Right now – you have GOT to Trust God – you’ve got to force yourself to Trust God – NO matter what you see or think or feel – Your God is worthy of your Trust
& so – FIX your thoughts on God – HE is your eternal Rok - Trust God – NOT your circumstances
& then – you’ve got to COME to him – you’ve got to LEARN HOW to come to Him
Matthew 11:28–29 (NLT) 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
I know it’s hard – I know it is – but we have to fight thru all the stuff - & come to Jesus – in a real & meaningful way - & then . . .
29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
I know – it’s easier said than done – but we have to find that quiet moment, in that quiet place - & come to Jesus –truly come to him, to fall into his arms – & to take his yoke upon us
& right there - in that moment, we’ve got to let him teach us . . . & then, we WILL find rest for our souls
& then – we must learn to STAY there – in his shelter - to LIVE there – in His presence – because
Psalm 91:1–2 says (NLT) 1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.
When you are overwhelmed – the Lord alone is your refuge – He alone is your place of safety – he alone is your God – you Can trust him – you MUST trust him
And - Psalm 18:2 says (NLT) 2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.
THIS – is who your God is – He is your rock, your fortress, your savior

If you are overwhelmed today – the Lord wants to help you – he is ready to help you
Isaiah 41:10 (NLT) 10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
God is with you - & he is ready to help you – he is ready to strengthen you - & to hold you up
But - we have to COME to him – we have to fight thru the overwhelmed-ness to GET to him
Psalm 121:1–2 (NLT) 1 I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? 2 My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth!
We have to be absolutely certain – that our help comes from the Lord – NO PLACE else – MY help comes from the Lord
Because – it is God who is our Refuge and our Strength – & it is God who is ready to help in times of trouble – God is there, and he is ready
Psalm 46:1 (NLT) 1 God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
But We have to cry out to him – from the ends of the earth we have to cry out to him – when our heart is overwhelmed we have to cry out to him - & he WILL lead us to the rock of safety

“In spirit” means OUR Spirit, Worshipping God, who IS Spirit. We worship “spirit to spirit,” which is the opposite of just going thru the motions. And worshipping in truth means genuine, honest worship. Watch or listen to the podcast to find out what keeps us from genuine worship.
