There is joy in farming, and it’s paved way for alot of young entrepreneurs across the world to unleash their skills and prove how far they can go in the world of agriculture.
Catfish farming is just one of the branches of agriculture under which can be categorized as the aquaculture sector since its practically depends on aquatics.
Part of this branch also branched to different sectors too. As we have the fish breeding sectors, we have the rearing sector, the the final product sectors and many more.
Few weeks ago I tried experiencing the final product sector and it was really a nice experience for me. I reared some set of fish and then got them oven dried for consumption. I made sure I packed them after well dried. Then I began marketing it.

Catfish business is said to be one of the most lucrative businesses in agriculture, though agriculture in general is profitable if you practise it right. There was a time when I was in school and a friend of mine walked up to me for discussion. He asked us to start up a small poultry farm. I politely declined despite the fact that it's been one of my long time dreams to achieve. He was after some set of students doing it successfully and wanted us to gamble into it.
After some time he started fish farming. He got fishes and also tried to raise them, when he tried but at some point he finally got to realize his fish were having high mortality. He sought help and got none. He finally had to take to a hard decision of not getting into fish farming or anything agriculture related because of his experience.
Meanwhile, the fact about it was that it's either you pay for knowledge or you pay for ignorance. When you pay some amount to learn about a thing it would be easier to skip and avoid huge mistakes. And you will also have a direction. But when you choose to pay for ignorance, then you have little or no knowledge about what you are about doing, then gamble into it. At the end you might finally realize that you have lost even multiple folds of the amount you should have used to seek knowledge and not trials and error.
Today I am having you guys take a look at my catfish, we have different breeds of catfish. The most common being the Clarias species. And they happen to be some other species too.
The Clarias species are known for the good seeds i.e they can produce as many eggs. So as for the Heterobranchus species they are way stronger than the clarias species. So this is what brought about the breeding of these two species together to form strong and healthy fries with a good number of production.
They are called catfish Hybrids. You can only know the difference between the three species if you are knowledgeable. If you aren’t then there is no magic to it.

I have found myself to have so much love for aquaculture, despite the fact that it's still under agriculture. But I really love this aspect a lot. There are times when I find myself stressed out from doing a lot of work that on a normal day I just can't. But I feel so energized when it comes to aquatics.
The joy from just taking a look at the fish swimming peacefully in the water body is enough. Not to talk of when you feed them. The fun I derive from it is most of the time unmeasurable. I only feel that it's right that I just make sure I stick to it as it has become a part of me.
Though aquaculture is quite capital intensive to start up. But if you are capable it’s something that's so lucrative and gives great returns.
I have raised these fish for over four months now. And it was so nice to see them grow daily. It might be a lot of time, changing their water to feeding and medication. But I really love it that way too.
Yesterday I took some of them out to oven dry. And this is one of the best methods to have your fish preserved. It was my first time experiencing this but I really love it even more despite the stress attached. It's always so lovely to have ourselves do what we love and derive pleasure doing them.

Today was fun filled and all about an adventure to my hometown. It's always so funny when you realize the big difference between living in a rural settlement and living in an urban settlement. Life in the rural areas remains settled with peace, low noise level, low pollution and there are things existing in their natural state.
But when it's compared to the way in the urban area, the difference is always clear. The urban settlement would always remain so lively, but the peaceful existence present in the rural settlement would be absent there. It's a choice to make, you can choose to live in the rural area or decide to live in the urban region.
All about today.As a fish farmer, I had the intention of visiting one of the biggest fish farm clusters in Africa, located in our hometown. The Erinwe farm is a community based fish farm. I wished I could meet the target of their market days but I couldn’t , maybe I would just check again some other days.
With that being done, I decided to explore places I haven't been to. From there we went to see a lagoon at the shore of our hometown. The water body is so big and said to have linked up with a sea somewhere. Then it was fun exploring.
We had the journey right from the entrance down to seeing those wooden canoes, and the fishing net they use to trap fishes.
Then I had to hop on a canoe for the first time in my life and got paddled by a small boy, 😂. I was a strong man all through and it was fun. I knew I never had enough of a view of what I wanted. And this is during the dry season.
I promised to be back there again some other time and I can get to experience it during the rainy season where the water flow and energy would have become so heavy. That would be real fun.

I was out with a friend of mine who happened to be a designer. He gets contracts from companies and private house owners. So I decided to pay him a visit at the site of work.
The contract job here is to paint the whole building and also make a brick like construction on the already plastered walls. He had to get this done with some quality paint products and tools. Not just a mere design for any painter.
After giving the wall a full colour paint, then it was time to carve out the design. He used a tape to draw out the bricks and then apply the Stucco paint on it.
After which when it was done then he also gave it a crazy finishing, the finishing was made with a golden liquor applied with a foam bringing the colour to faint out from some angles when viewed from different sides.
I really love the design of the building. Apart from the exterior design made by my friend. The construction was just a wonderful and outstanding one.
The balcony at the front of the house is just a good one where you can get to relax and have fun and also have the best views of what's going around you. Not a common balcony like every other story building around you.
One more interesting aspect about the interior is that it's a two bedroom duplex with crazy interior designs. I was unable to get to see the interior as much because of the resident in the apartment. But you can actually guess how nice it would look just from the exterior alone.
To clarify how freaking cool the apartment is in the estate I also tried comparing the architectural design to some other design in the surrounding area.
It was also built around a short fence and a sliding gate. Pretty cool views i got from that. If I could have the opportunity to buy a home. I don't mind having something like this or even way better.

Good day guysToday I will be having a discussion about My experience at a farm with earthen ponds
Like I have discussed in my former video where I analysed the different types of ponds we have and as a fish farmer you should know the type of pond you will be using for your fish and the capacity at which you can stock them.
We have the plastic tanks, concrete ponds, tarpaulin ponds and the earthen ponds. So you can make a choice out of these ponds depending on your financial situation or whichever you deem suitable for your farming system.
My experience
Today I am showing my experience at a farm with earthen ponds and it’s all about harvesting the fishes in the ponds. Harvesting serves two purposes and that’s to prepare the farm for a new set of fish and also to bring a smile to the face of the farmer.
We had no choice but to enter the pond. It was so dip but due to the dry season we are presently, some of the water has dried away leaving just a few.
First off, we dragged the fish with a big net, someone holding it at both ends and occupying both sides of the pond before dragging forward.
Afterwards, we had to drain the water to make it clear and easier to pick the remaining fish in the pond. Using a pump. The pump takes In pressure to the machine and then exhausts it out through the other side after priming it. It really made the work so easy and faster. Within a short time we were done.
At the end the fish were weighed and we bought the amount we needed from the farm manager and then left our home. The experience was nothing but fun filled.

Today I will be having a discussion about The Types of Fish Ponds and their uses.
As a Fish farmer you should know that the maintenance of your fish really matters and that should be more of a reason why you have to give your fishes proper attention.
A fish that is well stocked will surely yield good results at the end of the production. But when your fish is not stocked appropriately then there is always a chance of taking the risks that might cause casualties like high mortality and also diseases outbreak.
So you should know the type of pond and capacity of the pond, this will go a long way in aiding the growth and development of the fish.
There are different type of ponds and this also depends on your choice of pond too.
Each type have their individual specifications.
- PLASTIC PONDS: Plastic ponds are ponds that are designed with Plastic tanks, they are mobile and easy to maintain. These type of ponds are used to stock little amount of fishes.
- TARPAULIN PONDS: These type of ponds are made of tarpaulins and they are also easy to maintain than concrete ponds. It can be constructed with a wooden frame or iron frame.
- CONCRETE PONDS: These ponds are commonly used but they are not easily maintained. They can store large quantities of fishes but most time are permanently constructed. Concrete ponds are made of concrete, blocks or bricks.
- EARTHEN POND: This type of pond is not so common but they are most times the best to read fish. And this is because it gives fishes a conducive environment and habitat. They are mostly constructed closed to riverbanks.
These are the types of ponds we have and it’s a choice to make for you as a fish farmer whichever you prefer for your fish.

As a Catfish farmer you should know that feeding takes about 70% of your production and this is why you have to be careful about how you feed your fish, when you feed your fish, and what you feed your fish.
A fish that is well fed will surely yield good results at the end of the production. But when your fish is not fed appropriately then there is always a chance of taking the risks that might cause casualties like high mortality and also diseases outbreak.
So you should know your feed, the producers of the feed, how reliable they are, are they still within the reach to be utilized and not expired products?. So all of these should be put in place before you expect a good yield and a good harvest at the end of the farming season.
Your fish should be fed according to their sizes and their ages. This is what will give then a higher chance of successful growth when they fed to satisfaction. If you try to feed them beyond what they can fed on. Then three things might come in place.
- They would have a stunted or slow growth. This means some of them won’t be able to feed on it and it will surely affect their growth.
- It will cause pollution in the water. This pollution will come in form of the feeds not taken by the fish and then they get to dissolve in the water and mix up with the water form which will cause pollution in the water.
- Lastly it is just some kind of financial waste. The fish not feeding on those feeds and also having them waste is just an example of wasting your funds.

Today I will be discussing more about Catfish farming. And here we are focusing on the Giant African Catfish.Recently I uploaded a video about catfish reaction to feeding. And the importance of these reactions. When your fish began to react someone then as a farmer you should know something has gone wrong somewhere and take quick precautions.
Feeding is so important and an essential part of fish farming and livestock rearing. We all know the importance and benefits of feed. This is why feeding taking over 70% of the the total cost of livestock production.
Another important thing about feeding is that the growth of your catfish or livestock is directly proportional to the way you feed them. If you feed them well, then you will be having a good harvest at the end of the season, but if you decided not to feed then we’ll, then no one can tell how heaven the consequences or loss will be at the end of the day.
We have different types of catfish feeds. And this are of different types and sizes. It your choice to go for the maker you want and this also has to do with your financial capabilities.
The age of the fish and the size of the fish also should be considered when feeding them. Their feeds should be the one they will be able feed on conveniently.
In conclusion, The importance of feeding in livestock production can never be overlooked. So as a farmer you should know that and work towards it.

Everywhere got a little boring then my friend suggested we go outing and habe some fun. I agreed and it was total fun experience.
Initaily our plans was to play Visual Reality games, but we were unable to get one. then on our way to the resturant, we saw this hoverboards for rent. then we opted for it.
It was my first time hoping on. but it gave me one of the best feelings. Learning ot was funny and scary not to fall over. Bit immediately I mastered it. I feltclike going hone with one.

I am an agriculturist and a catfish farmer. I am always happy practicing my profession.
Today's Job on the farm was a little tedious. The catfish fries are now grow up and then i had to split then into different ponds so as to give them the spacing they require.
The pond in the video is a 12 by 6 by 3 feet pond capacity and it can accomodate up to 7000 fingerling, but an average capacity of 5000 fingerling would strive well in this pond.
It has a length of 12 feet, a breadth of 6 feet, and an height of 3 feet. This make up the 12 by 6 by 3 calculation.
Fish famring is great and funfilled.
I will also do my best to bring in more related content about my homesteading activities on the farm.
Rome wasnt built in a day, so as you can't aquire all the knowlege in the world. We keep learning everyday.

Agriculture gives me the true value and benefits of natural habitats and also allows me view nature at my own convenience.
Aquaculture is more of keeping, rearing and breeding of aquatic animals be it any kind of fishes or other aquatic animals.
It’s really fun doing what you love as you won’t find it stressful or boring. This is my calling and I am happy doing this.
These are African Giant catfish I raised for over 10months now and the biggest of them weighs 3kg while the least of them weighs 1.5 kilogram.
