In January 2021, after an unfortunate innocent incident with the Toronto law enforcement, Moses who suffered from serious anxiety and depression sadly took his own life. Today the day of his 40 day commemoration, I had a chance to speak to his grieving sister. A truly sobering but crucial episode.

Not to give you the time of the day or even mention you in front of people.
For acknowledging you may be seen as identifying with you or even admitting defeat
But I think that’s unfair because you’ve been a large part of my life for so long,
So I write you this little homage
We officially met at the age of 19
I didn’t know much about you then, little did I know we met years before then, I was just unaware of who you were and what you were like,
Like any friendship it was awkward at first,
We were in the process of getting to know each other
I would lie if I said I didn’t enjoy your company at first
For you would take me to places I had never been before and you were an all round laugh,
You were confident and gave me confidence,
Together we could rule the world.
Then the friendship turned sour, you would drop me like a bad habit into a depth of despair after weeks of elation.
A shade of colour darker than pitch black.
And with the years I gradually came to the realisation you weren’t a friend, merely a foe I had to deal with the rest of my life.
A foe who I need to always keep an eye on,
Be vigilant and weary to make sure you don’t rear your ugly head to the surface.
As good as the times may have seemed at the moment, you always leave me to pick up the pieces at the end after you’ve done your damage, so I think it’s fair to say you’ve not been the best company!
Like with bad habits I’m trying to cut you off,
As bad company corrupts good morals.
But I know you’re not going to go away lightly or even at all for that matter.
But I know slowly, with time and treatment that you will be tamed, and I hope one day however unrealistic it may seem that we don’t meet again, bipolar!’
