Hi, my name is Clive and I'm a sailor based on the British coast, attempting to restore a 6 ton wooden sailing yacht called Andromeda, built in the 1960s. In this episode I recall a momentous sailing trip across the North Sea from Harwich to Holland. My Dad, my friend Nick and myself set of in my parents 32ft 12ton Smack Yacht "Lillibullero" to try and reach the other side. Lillibullero is a big heavy displacement gaffer meticulously maintained to a high gloss varnished finish and she's cosy and comfy down below, albeit with very little headroom. In this episode I recall a short sailing trip in AWOL a 12ft open boat, known locally as a Smacks Boat. These Swallows & Amazons style boats set one lug sail on a mast with no standing rigging.
