This months podcast is a heady mix of big band jazz (Buddy Rich and Benny Carter) to small group mainstream (Jonah Jones) and a few unlikely Christmas songs you might not have heard before to vocalists Anita O'Day and blues singer Big Joe Turner in Christmas mode and which Jazz giant at the age of 99 years old is still playing, you could be surprised!
This months Jazz Room covers a very wide range of styles. From Mugsy Spanier, Errol Garner's unique piano gifts plus live guest Dennis Rollins will be showing how good he plays trombone, plus a couple of delights from Ella & Louis.
The Jazz Room is back prior to our new live music season starting on September 17th with the Emily Brown Quartet at the Irish Club in Huddersfield, UK. Among many gems there is trumpeter Kenny Baker, singer Ella Fitzgerald with the Count Basie Orchesra, the Buddy Rich Big Band, Bob Crosbys BoPcats, plus a new singer of note Veronica Swift and many more highlights
In this months Jazz Room we feature a wide range of jazz starting off with the big band of Buddy Rich, some amazing singing from Anita O'Day and what might be a new name to many, vocalist Mark Winkler.
Stan Getz, Kenny Baker and |Benny Goodman contribute a few gems and Blues legend Skip James will be a contrast, plus there is a a gem of a piano duet from Oscar Peterson and Count Basie.
This months Jazz Room has some special features, especially sax player Alan Barnes, alongside the Andy Cholerton Trio, as he appears live at the Smile Bar & Venue as the first of our Autumn & Winter 2022 acts. Attendees can enjoy a fantastic afternoon of live music from 2-4pm on Sunday 18 September. For more details head on over to the Huddersfield Jazz website.
We also have a couple of big band gems from Duke Ellington and Sammy Nestico, plus jazz singers Mark Murphy and Giacomo Gates and a rarely heard Hoagy Carmichael song from singer Barbara Lea.
This month's Jazz Room ranges from classic early jazz such as Red Nichols & The Five Pennies to a gem or two from pianists Bud Powell and George Shearing. We also feature tracks from singers Carmen McCrae and Ernie Andrews.

Among the highlights this month are a couple of classic Woody Herman Big Band recordings, the genius that was pianist Errol Garner, some vocal gymnastics from Mel Torme, a new album from UK pianist Rob Barron and news of live jazz back for Huddersfield Jazz with sax player Snake Davis.
This month Jazz Room has quite a few gems; especially the opening big band number which might be a surprise, or possibly evoke some strong memories, as it is considered something of a classic.
The 50s West Coast sound is revisited with the Bob Cooper Sextet and a couple of vocals should bring a response.
Local band The Savannah Jazz Band drop by and forthcoming live guest at the Smile Bar & Venue, Snake Davis makes his mark.
In this month's Jazz Room you'll notice a lot of swing. From the pianist Teddy Wilson, to early jazz from Sidney Bechet and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. We also have two stylish gems from singer Carol Sloane, as well as something different from Jacqui Dankworth.
