Still think buying property is the best way to build wealth?
For generations, Australians have been told that "property is the smartest investment". But is that still true?
Soaring house prices, tighter lending rules, and stagnant wages have made property harder to afford – and in many cases, harder to justify.
Meanwhile, the share market continues to offer a lower entry point, greater flexibility, and often stronger long-term returns… if you know how to use it properly.
Whether you're renting, already own property, or are thinking about your next move – this podcast with Marcus Padley will give you a fresh perspective on where to invest your money in a changing landscape.

In the special episode of 'On the Couch', Henry Jennings sits down with two medical pioneers in the CAR-T field, who are leading the charge in the search for cures for various cancers.
Dr. Deborah Rathjen, CEO and MD of Carina Biotech, represents a small, unlisted Adelaide-based company funded by the Forest Foundation. Carina Biotech focuses on treatments for solid cancers.
Dr. Michael Baker, CEO and MD of Arovella (ASX: ALA), leads a listed Melbourne-based company progressing to Phase One human trials for a new drug to treat blood cancers.
CAR-T therapy is a type of personalised cancer immunotherapy treatment.
CAR-T stands for 'Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell', named after the chimera - a fire-breathing monster in Greek mythology made up of different animal parts.
This therapy utilises a specific type of immune cell called a 'T cell'. T cells are one type of immune cell found in our bloodstream. Think of them as soldiers, constantly on patrol, surveying for threats such as microbes, bacteria, viruses, and, in some cases, cancer cells.
For CAR-T, T cells are genetically altered in the laboratory, often with the help of a friendly virus. These cells are then "armed" with a specific receptor on their surface, enabling them to recognise, bind to, and destroy specific cancer cells.
Once the CAR-T cells are armed, they are grown into hundreds of millions - or even billions - and reinfused into the patient. This process empowers the patient's own immune system to hunt down and fight their cancer.
Each type of CAR-T cell therapy is designed to recognise and target a specific marker or "antigen" on a cancer cell.

In this episode, I chat with Peter Harold CEO from Poseidon Nickel (POS) following a disappointing update recently.
Peter will need no introduction to many members as Marcus has done a number of podcasts with Peter and the company has been a key recommendation from Marcus.
For those of us new to the story, Peter is a process engineer with over 30 years corporate experience in the minerals industry, specialising in financing, marketing, business development and general corporate activities.
He was until recently the Managing Director of Panoramic Resources (PAN), a company he co-founded as a $3m IPO in 2001. Peter steered Panoramic through the financing and development of the Savannah Nickel Project in the East Kimberley and the acquisition and re-start of the Lanfranchi Nickel Project near Kambalda with the company reaching a market capitalisation of $1.2bn in 2007. He was more recently involved in bringing the Savannah Project out of care and maintenance and back into production.
Peter has extensive experience in base metal mining project feasibility studies, financing, developments, operations and marketing.
Black Swann is the company focus and will be the focus of this update following the recent announcement on delays from power issues and metallurgy.

Welcome to another episode of On the Couch, and in this podcast I am joined by Dr Francis Wedin from Vulcan Energy (VUL).
Some time ago I chatted with Francis about the Vulcan Energy geothermal and lithium project in Germany. Fair to say a lot of water has flowed under the bridge since then and plenty of volatility in the share price so I thought it was about time we spoke and got an update on the project.
This a great update on where the project is at after the capital raising and the recent announcement on the JV with Stellantis.

From feeling physically sick after being wiped out by the tech wreck to becoming one of the most well-known and respected traders in Australia, best-selling author Stuart McPhee sits down with Chris Conway to talk about his incredible stock trading journey.
From Stuart’s time in the military and how that impacted his stock trading, to understanding the importance of discipline and overcoming adversity, this hour-long interview is not to be missed for anyone who is serious about understanding what it takes to be successful in the market.
For those who are unfamiliar with Stuart McPhee, he is a well-known trader and author of the book, Trading in a Nutshell, now on its fourth edition. For the last 20 years, Stuart has regularly been invited to speak to traders all around the world. From Mumbai to New York, Tokyo to London, Melbourne to Beijing, Stuart has presented to tens of thousands of budding traders.
Following the success of Stuart’s previous course, Technical Analysis for Investors, we have invited him back to construct an even more in-depth course covering all things stock trading. The course is not just charts and technical analysis (although there is plenty of that), it also covers the mindset required to be a successful trader, how to manage risk, setting stop losses, the importance of a plan, performance monitoring, and so much more.
The course will be launched with eight completed modules, followed by two new modules each week (on average), for the next 30 weeks – well over 60 modules in total and a summation of the 30 years of experience Stuart has accumulated in markets.
If you are serious about stock trading and markets in general, then this could be considered required learning. Stuart’s new course launches here on Friday 3 December 2021.

This week Marcus presents the first of a new series called In the Boardroom which this week takes us into the boardroom of listed company Poseidon Nickel (ASX Code: POS) accompanied by its CEO Peter Harold. POS is sitting on nickel resources that at some point, with a bit of exploration success and a higher nickel price, will become an operating mine, at which point the share price would no longer be 4.5c. Can it be done? Peter knows all about turning a small resource into a full scale nickel operation having done just that with a company called Panoramic Resources that listed as a $3m IPO called Sally Malay in 2001. On the day of listing it hit 11c. Peter and his team turned it into a 600c nickel behemoth at the peak of the resources boom. Can Peter and the Poseidon Nickel team turn POS into another 60 bagger? Hear for yourself as Marcus takes Peter, "Into the Boardroom".
This week Henry is on the Couch with the Chief Economist of Betashares, David Bassanese. David is a seasoned media veteran and has had an illustrious career at Treasury, the OECD and Macquarie Bank. In a wide ranging podcast, David and Henry talk about the direction of the local economy, the AUD and the US economy, and why he sees the US as still the place to be, despite some asset valuations being a little stretched and reminiscent of the dotcom days. This time it really is different; these behemoths make money. Join me On the Virtual Couch to hear his thoughts.

Regina Meani is one of Australia’s best-known technical analysts and had a career working for some of the biggest brokers and investment banks in Australia. She has written a book on the subject which is available on her web site called "Charting". When Henry first met Regina she had emigrated to Sydney and was working for Bain and Co (as it was, now Deutsche Bank). At that time technical analysis was called "charting" and was a very hands on business that required a pencil and graph paper. Henry and Regina talk charting as well as her current technical market view and the levels she is looking at. Regina is now an independent technical analyst and consults extensively to brokers and private professional traders.
