I talk through my hypothesis that social emotional learning and emotional intelligence leads to increased self-awareness, sense of belonging, and connection for BIPOC youth transitioning to middle school. This increase is moderated (i.e., strengthened) by engaging in mindfulness practices taught in a culturally relevant curriculum.
