Gateshead’s Saltwell Park is once again hosting the North of England’s only Field of Remembrance in honour of the Service men and women who have fought and died for their country.
The formally opening of the Field of Remembrance was marked with a special dedication service.
Premier’s Northern Correspondent Ian Britton joined members of the public as each took a moment to remember a life lost in service to our country.
There will be other Fields of Remembrance planted at Royal Wootton Bassett, Westminster, Belfast, Cardiff and Edinburgh, each one a testament to the respect and gratitude felt by so many.
The Field of Remembrance will be open to the public from dawn until dusk each day from Saturday October 29 until Monday 14 November.

The traditional Christian view would say that if you die without becoming a Christian you are condemned to suffering in hell forever.
But that is being increasingly criticised and challenged by modern evangelicals who are unconvinced by the scriptural arguments for it.
Some questions that could be asked… How could a God of love possibly make a world in which the majority of his human creatures would burn in hell forever, simply because they happened to have been born in in a country that was Muslim, or Hindu, or atheist? And is the scriptural underpinning for this belief really as secure as evangelicals, in particular, tend to think?
Chris Date, from the US, is the editor of two books looking at the afterlife and hell, and was a speaker at the Rethinking Hell conference in London.
