Not only will you understand Paul of Tarsus, you will also understand why he wrote his letters and to whom he wrote them and when!

Paul was executed and beheaded. He was not beheaded as we think of beheading. Because he was a citizen, he was killed with the Gladius (the Roman short sword) in a way causing instant death. Then he was beheaded.
To this day, one of the symbols of Saint Paul is the Sword of the Spirit - the Gladius of the Spirit - when he had been killed with the Gladius of Rome.

Rome did not have prisons like we think of today. Criminals were either let free or executed. In the meantime, criminals and accused persons languished in utterly miserable conditions. This pit/dungeon was Paul's fate as he awaited execution.

After a devastating fire in Rome, Caesar Nero lost his mind and blamed the whole disaster on Christians. He decided to chase Paul down and arrest him as a main ring-leader of the Christians.

During his 2 years of freedom, Paul planted churches on the island of Crete. He left Titus there to supervise the churches and writes this letter to remind him of how to be a good pastor and who should be entrusted with the office of Pastor.
Nero Caesar lets Paul free. Paul goes to Spain, Crete and is free for two years before Caesar Nero began his vicious persecution of Christians.

Although Paul had warned the captain of the ship not to sail in winter, the captain ignored his advice and a storm sank the ship. Paul takes control of the situation and the ship is lost but the people are all kept alive on the island of Malta. Paul gets a severe snakebite, survives and becomes famous.
