American Psychiatric Association Foundation and OneLegUpAlex Media Discuss Mental Health to Kick Off ADA Week 7-20-26
https://www.apaf.org/
Thanks to Brian Williams, Former NYC Firefighter, for joining OneLegUpAlex Media Powered By Podmatch.
Intro from Podmatch:
My guest today is Brian Williams, a former NYC firefighter who holds a U.S. patent for a safety system that addresses the injuries helmets can't prevent. After a number of young amateur players died from playing tackle football, not to mention the ones that were paralyzed, Brian spent years developing a NASA-validated protection system. The problem? He can't get manufacturers to pay attention. Today we're discussing why a billion-dollar industry ignores proven safety innovation—and what parents need to know about the equipment their kids are using. Brian, thanks for being here.
We also talk about where Brian was on September 11th, 2001, and how he supported the rescue efforts on that tragic day.

Introduction to Brandon Day, as interviewed on OneLegUpAlex Media, presented by Podmatch
Today’s guest is Brandon Day — a two-time national champion, former All-American linebacker, and someone who’s been featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. But his story doesn’t stop on the field. After years battling chronic pain and the mental grind that comes with pushing your body to the limit, Brandon became obsessed with understanding what drives human performance — not just in sports, but in life and business. Now, he’s a high-performance coach and the founder of the NeuroFlow Method — a unique system that combines applied neuroscience and flow state coaching to help elite performers break through plateaus, eliminate pain, and unlock their peak physical and cognitive potential. He works with lifelong athletes, business owners, and entrepreneurs who refuse to settle for ‘good enough’ — helping them reclaim their energy, their focus, and their edge. If you’re someone who knows what it feels like to operate at a high level but wonder if there’s another gear — this is the guy you want to hear from.https://www.skool.com/evolvedThis is the link to my free community on Skool where I show up each week to coach, and keep all of my free resources for anyone to browse and get themselves out of pain and on the path to peak performance.

OneLegUpAlex highlights AM Pfeffer, Powered by Podmatch 3-25-26
Our guest today is A.M. Pfeffer, co-host of Beyond The Surface on the X-Rayted Sports Network, a long-form sports conversation show focused on going beyond headlines, hot takes, and reaction-driven media to explore the deeper forces shaping modern sports. A.M. approaches sports from a uniquely interdisciplinary perspective that blends athletics, business strategy, leadership psychology, media dynamics, and cultural storytelling. While many sports conversations focus strictly on statistics or daily narratives, his work examines why organizations succeed or fail, how leadership decisions ripple through teams and fanbases, and how modern media ecosystems influence the way sports are experienced and understood. https://www.instagram.com/xraytedsportsnetworkThis link is the best “start here” destination for listeners who enjoyed the conversation and want to keep up with Beyond The Surface. It takes them directly to our show hub where they can easily get redirected to the main YouTube page, browse recent episodes, and subscribe so new shows automatically show up in their feed. The benefit to listeners is convenience and continuity. The episode they just heard is usually the beginning of the relationship — but most people won’t remember to search later. This CTA removes that friction by giving them an immediate, simple next step: one click to subscribe, then they get ongoing long-form conversations that go beyond the headlines and hot takes. The show consistently explores sports through bigger lenses: leadership, organizational culture, media narratives, business incentives, and the psychology of fandom. For hosts, this CTA is also easy to share in show notes because it’s clean and listener-first. It doesn’t ask people to “support” anything — it simply offers a place to keep listening if the audience wants more of the type of conversation we just had. That’s why it performs well: it’s aligned with what listeners already want in the moment.

OneLegUpAlex Adapts With 'Keep Chewing the Granite!' Author Bernard 'Chalky' White - Powered By Podmatch (Recorded 10-27-25)
My Guest Bernard ‘Chalky’ White is an internationally renowned ski instructor, #1 best-selling author of ‘The 7 Secrets of Skiing and inspirational speaker. Available on Amazon (https://tinyurl.com/3cuzn3e4) is Chalky’s new, motivational memoir, “KEEP CHEWING THE GRANITE!” - How 2 Questions Can Change Your Life. They really changed his! The ‘Takeaways’ from every short story are aimed at dreamers and potential goal achievers looking for impetus to overcome, even very serious, adversity. A key aspect; Author Chalky, rather than writing a straight up memoir felt it very important to offer something that could truly help readers and others overcome procrastination, self and third party naysaying or almost any other kind of adversity. Why would he do that? If his 2 Question solution could and did work for him, it can and will work for anyone who dares or cares to use it. Also, of course. Chalky’s memoir full of diverse adventures has plenty for those who simply enjoy true, sometimes heart wrenching, intriguing, sad to funny stories. Chalky and I will discuss how to use his simple but effective solution. He might even tell you the odd story.

Devon is a college graduate, writer, and podcaster who just happens to have cerebral palsy. She is passionate about creating a better world for all! She is also fiercely advocating for the passage of the SSI Restoration Act, which would eliminate the Social Security/Medicaid “marriage penalty” and the SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act, which would raise the salary and asset limits for Social Security and Medicaid. These changes would allow people with disabilities to work and marry without losing vital disability benefits. Devon can bring awareness to the myriad of issues people with disabilities still face and what changes need to be made at both federal and state levels to help people with disabilities and their families and caregivers thrive! She is also advocating for a man named Crosley Green to be released from prison, who she believes was wrongfully convicted of murder in Florida in 1990. Devon is also a super fan of the TV show Survivor and loves analyzing the strategy of the game with the fan community. In fact. she learned her interview techniques from watching host Jeff Probst!
