At FTR, we hold a vision of a more just existence, one that priorities human and planet rights. It is our mission to amplify the voices of those working hard to make that vision a reality. And we believe in getting listeners involved, so that you too, can sew the seed of your light into the fabric of a better world.
Join us as we speak with Anindo Marshall, my former teacher, dancer, drummer, singer, chanter, humanitarian, and founder of Abukutsa Arts Academy in Kenya. We learn about how she became an apprentice for legendary dancer and activist Katherine Dunham, who grew up in a dancing in segregated America. We discuss how the arts are medicine, and how connecting with our ancestors creates miracles in our lives. We focus specifically on her newest endeavor - Abukutsa Arts Academy - an eco school she’s building in Kenya, one that priorities both the arts and sciences, and is a model for environmental consciousness. We discuss why, within our current social and environmental climate, these schools are more important now more than ever. Joss Richard is my dear friend, Emmy award winning television producer, and founder of Margot - a community connecting women with mentors. Margot helps women of all ages, backgrounds, and stages of life, find qualified mentors in various industries, while normalizing the concept of women being compensated for their time and knowledge. In this interview, we discuss the importance of mentorship, disrupting the narrative that women don’t have to be paid for their time, and why free mentorship to women and girls in communities with socio-economic barriers is so important. Joss also vulnerably invites us into how it’s felt for her as an asian woman in today’s America, and provides us with some tangible ways to be a true ally. For the Revolution is returning after a long moment of pause. Placing my personal health first during a time of deep grieving put a lot of external forward momentum on hold. That said, FTR is back and ready to bring the world more content that inspires us into action.
Josh Whiton, founder of MakeSoil, explains how human actions are a direct threat to the health of our biosphere - how we destroy our home planet for the sake of saving and growing a fragile economy. He presents us with a solution, one that each of us can participate in today, to regenerate our Earth, while reducing our dependence on the economy. Adam Kolton, Executive Director of Alaska Wilderness League, paints a clear picture of the bounty of beauty and life that is the Arctic Wildlife Refuge. He explains why this land is so vital for the culture and wellbeing of the Gwich'in people, many of whose villages reside along the migratory route of the Porcupine Caribou Herd - a herd that returns each year to the refuge to birth new calves. They are joined by Polar Bears, migratory Birds, Musk Oxen, and explosions of Flowers and Lichen; A vision and reality under grave threat because the current administration just opened subsidized oil leases in this wild, in-tact, land that has been protected since Eisenhower. In this episode, we discuss Carol Hoover's journey in conservation, with specific emphasis on her work with the Eyak Preservation Council. The council is working to preserve The Copper River Delta, one of the last large wild watersheds left on the planet. It is currently under grave threat with the sale of the Bering River Coal Fields. Within this threat lies a great opportunity. If a coal conglomerate purchases this coalfield, 3 million acres of sacred land is risked, as well as the Alaskan salmon ecosystem that thrives there. On the other hand, this sale provides us with an incredible opportunity to support the Eyak Preservation Council's purchase of this land, which returns this wild complex back to its' original Eyak stewards, protects an enormous amount of Wild Alaskan Salmon life, keeps coal in the ground, and potentially grants the Copper River Complex protection for all of time.

Planet:
The vast majority of systems built by and for humans are directly at odds with the health of our planet. Our economic and political systems are designed to protect and perpetuate this pattern. Quite frankly, this way of existence is no longer sustainable, and the time is now to drive solutions forward that regenerate our planet while contributing to a healthy economy.
Human:
Genocide, Systemic Oppression, Racism, Slave Labor, and Human Trafficking - these are only few of the major human rights issues of our time, ones that are again perpetuated by the political and economic systems built to uphold the status quo. These all-encompassing power structures require a paradigm shift within both the public and private sectors in order to dissolve the global abuses that are systemically at play. Terminating and replacing them will require a change in collective consciousness, then a push to reflect that change in local and foreign policy, education, and the private sector, in order to holistically build a more equitable world.
The Intersection:
When our planet is sick, humans are sick. When humans are sick, our planet is sick. We cannot have a longstanding social, political and economic revolution without first revolutionizing the ways we relate to our planet. Relating to our earth with a new level of conscientiousness will change the ways we relate to ourselves and each other. While the quality of engagement with our Earth informs the quality of our personal and collective consciousness, these more aligned methods should also inform, and be at the center of, revolutionary social, political and economic changes.

For The Revolution is the living product of her academic, healing, and artistic careers, and is a passion project emanating directly from her heart and dharma. The revolution isn’t something that happens esoterically beyond our control. It is quite the opposite. True revolution is something that first happens within us.
