Who is Frederick Douglass and Why is Frederick Douglass important?

This episode shows our greatest leaders have always been concerned about solidarity and linking our movement for freedom with human rights of ALL people.

Please comment or share if you want to spread this message!

In 1867, only two years after the slavery ended in the U.S., Douglass spoke out against racism against Chinese and Japanese Americans. He argued that Chinese immigrants should be allowed to become citizens just like any other immigrants.

He envisioned a "Composite Nation," a multi-racial, multicultural America that recognized human rights.

What is Juneteenth? Did Juneteenth end slavery?

How can you honor Juneteenth?

In the latest episode of Mother Tree Network, I offer my Juneteenth reflections on Ancestors, Foster Care, and forgiveness.

I give you my intimate thoughts after sitting with Juneteenth in my body.

Here are three ways You Can Celebrate and Reflect on Juneteenth for people of all backgrounds:

  • Acknowledge your capacity for violence and extraction. Befriend these aspects of yourself; find out what they need so they don’t have to cause harm to get your attention.
  • Tap into your ancestors and ask for their message. It's an important step towards healing and understanding the significance of Juneteenth.
  • We belong to each other. The illusion of not belonging comes from colonization, but we can heal by connecting to earth and all of our relations. This is not conceptual. Go outside!

The Spiritual Meaning of the Summer Solstice 🌞✨

Hey, beautiful souls! I’m Aminata, and in this episode, I’m diving into the magic of the Summer Solstice. It’s not just the longest day of the year—it’s actually a powerful two-week energy portal that invites us to grow, heal, and show up as our fullest, boldest selves.

I share my own unforgettable experience from a Summer Solstice retreat in Ecuador, where I faced grief, vulnerability, and ultimately found joy and deep healing. I also talk about those moments when we feel “not enough” and how embracing our true, unique voices is exactly what Spirit wants from us.

This year’s Summer Solstice is extra special, with Saturn at zero degrees of Aries, signaling a cosmic reset. During my Summer Solstice Soul Journey, we’ll connect with ancestors and nature allies who support us every step of the way—no pushing, just gentle, soulful guidance.

Here are three key takeaways from this episode:

🌿 Restore trust with your ancestors and nature. When you open to their support, you gain the courage and confidence to be your truest, highest self—and love yourself just as you are.

🌟 Rest and Release are essential. Slowing down and letting go clears space for reclaiming your power.

🦁 This is your time to Roar! Summer is the time to step into your full presence, leadership, and healing with confidence and heart.

If you’re ready to walk this journey with me and a supportive community, head over to dramandakemp.com and sign up for the Summer Solstice Soul Journey. Let’s roar and rise—together.

In this re-broadcast, I, Aminata, Desert Rose Plant Walker Fire Woman tell you why you should create a vision board.

Short answer? Vision boarding works!
For example, I created a vision board that was centered on the theme of Luxury and Nature. I had lots of pics of glamping and beautiful fabrics, carved wooden items, and lots of people of different ethnicities and genders laughing and touching and loving each other. I even included gold with an arrow implying price increase! Well, looking at this vision board today, I realize I’ve manifested much of what was on there:

  • I stayed in a luxurious tiny house in the beautiful Georgia Mountains for a month by myself.
  • I released an album called Message from the Trees.
  • I’ve hosted over ten retreats since creating my first vision board three years ago.
  • Gold has indeed gone up in price–and I made a profit!!
  • I even helped to lead a training where Black men worked together in a heart to heart way and more.

Find out:

  • Why it’s more important than ever to stay focused on what your heart is ready to give and receive!
  • How to Prepare your Mind to Receive What You Love
  • How to Connect with your Highest Self via your Vision Board
  • The danger of letting the tail wag the dog–you becoming reactive rather than creative

One more thing...
Now is the time to create your vision board. Between now and the full moon in Libra is an auspicious wonderful energy for planting new seeds and stretching beyond what is “realistic” to create something fabulous.

To help you do that–
I’m dropping a recorded Master Class called Vision Board Party with your Future Self.

Here's the bottom line:

  • Vision boards work best when they are timed with the moon's cycles.
  • Often it's our internal resistance that causes us to not realize our dreams
  • Resistance to your heart's desires shows up as feeling:

like you're not doing enough

tight and worried about finances

selfish if you invest in yourself--first

In the Vision Board Party with your Future Self, you compost and weed all of those worries BEFORE you create your board.

In this two-hour master class you learn a 5 Step Process to create a powerful vision board that merges you with your Future Self who is confident, abundant and overflowing with self-love.

It's a party because you will integrate music and other feel-good activities into your vision board process.

Greetings, beautiful souls. As we embark on the fourth season of the Mother Tree Network, it seems auspicious that our first episode coincides with a day of love—Valentine's Day—and the birthday of a renowned figure of love and freedom, Mr. Frederick Douglass. This season begins with a commitment to centering love consciousness in 2025—a year where decisions and actions are rooted in love, even amidst the chaotic events swirling around us.

The Power of Love Consciousness:

In a world where executive orders and political tensions weigh heavily, it's crucial to ground ourselves in love consciousness. This practice isn't just a sanctuary for our spirits; it acts as fuel for the actions we take in this world. Sometimes, as I experienced recently with emotional responses to political decisions, we need to break down before we can rebuild with love.

A Conversation with Lip Bone Redding:

Who better to accompany us on this journey than Lip Bone Redding? This idiosyncratic and spiritually harmonious musician from North Carolina embodies what it means to live with love. His presence is a testimony to divine masculinity expressed gently through music.

In our heartfelt dialogue, Lip Bone and I explored critical societal questions, thoughts on forgiveness, and the depth hidden in simple-sounding songs. Lip Bone's talents don't stop at singing; he's a storyteller who invites his audience into his narrative with songs like "How Does It Get Any Better Than This?"

This particular song, in its deceptively simple charm, pricks at the heart and invites reflection on our outlook—whether we're faced with joy or adversity. The essence of this question, derived from a friend's encouragement in times of self-reflection, illustrates how sometimes the simplest phrases open us to possibilities and teach us about the significant details in life.

Embracing Forgiveness:

A significant part of our conversation revolved around personal growth and forgiveness. The difficulty many face in forgiving themselves stems from not wanting to attach to past misactions. Lip Bone illuminated his thoughts on how revisiting every detail of past actions, even if painful, helps reclaim parts of our energy tied to those moments.

For Lip Bone, forgiveness is about presence – acknowledging every detail not to dwell but to release. Forgiveness often pairs with acceptance and compassion for our journeys and others', as both are nurturing facets of love.

Songwriting and the Antenna of Artistry:

Lip Bone shared his creative process as a musician, listening to the muse that guides his artistic expression. His belief in the power and responsibility of sharing through art reflects a natural state of being that gently disrupts and inspires. Art is a leading force, reshaping our perceptions and guiding us towards more profound questions and truths.

Creating Spaces of Okayness:

Living at a spiritual retreat center, Lip Bone has embraced the power of creating spaces that allow individuals to just ‘be.’ His work, especially through music and meditations shared on his YouTube channel "Infinite Okayness," extends the invitation

Sharing a personal experience from 2016-2017 while canvassing for a Democratic candidate in a Republican town, Aminata highlights the dangers of a judgmental attitude. The script explores the importance of love as the foundation for justice, urging a shift from labels and blame to understanding and connection. Aminata advocates for actions rooted in love, aiming to redeem the soul of America, a principle she attributes to Dr. King's vision.

How do you grieve a hurricane or natural disaster?

Is grief good?

Should you cry in front of your kids?

Check out this interview on the Mother Tree network podcast hosted by Aminata Desert Rose Plant Walker Fire Woman aka Dr. Amanda Kemp.

Josea warns listeners about the Hidden Dangers of Unprocessed Grief and how it can harm families and cause war and genocide.

Grief can feel like a hurricane; be sure to get support from a community or a therapist.

Grief expert Josea Crossley tells us healthy grief is all about letting energy move!

You can move energy by dancing, laughing, yoga, and crying.

The key is to feel a little at a time, as you go AND to join safe and consensual spaces with others who can hold you while you grieve.

Emoting all over the place can harm others (such as children).

Find out what to do with Big Feelings!

Unexpressed grief is dangerous!

It can destroy families and undermine your dreams.

The energy it takes to suppress grief, is energy that you don’t have to give to your children or grow your business.

It can show up as resentment, unworthiness, or feeling scattered.

For more on grief, check out Josea's website:

How do you know if your ancestors are trying to get your attention?

What does it mean to be shamana or a shaman?

Is the Sirius Star System sending messages via pop music and Lee Harris’ the Z’s?

These are just some of the questions Mother Tree Network podcast host Aminata and special guest Rosemary Reyes consider in this gripping conversation.

Trigger alert–There is some mention of gun violence and a stalker.

Come to Healing Ancestor and liberation master class!

Rosemary Reyes is a shamanic practitioner and visual artist that employs animation, collage, drawing, and painting as sacred practices to communicate with ancestors. By engaging sacred and ritualistic indigenous practices to produce psychedelic imagery, the result is an attempt to unite her stratified ethnic origins and to transform the devastating legacy of colonization in the Caribbean into something beautiful and playful that looks to the future with a generous measure of optimism. “The real kids don't have to work for love. It's us fake kids who got to be out here proving ourselves so that we don't get kicked out.”

Juneteeth is comin up! How will you honor this holiday, celebrating the emancipation of Black people after the Civil War?

In the latest episode of Mother Tree Network, I offer my Juneteenth reflections on Ancestors, Foster Care, and forgiveness.

I give you my intimate thoughts after sitting with Juneteenth in my body.

Here are three ways You Can Celebrate and Reflect on Juneteenth for people of all backgrounds:

  • Acknowledge your capacity for horror and extraction.
Go outside!

Tune in to hear more inspiring insights!

In this intimate conversation, Anna Gatmon and I delve into the trauma experienced by nations, specifically Israel and Gaza, and how individuals like you and me can use to subtle activism to shift global consciousness towards peace and wholeness.

Subtle activism is all about using meditation, prayer, and focused intention to tap into the collective consciousness for guidance and then taking inspired action. It's a way of making a difference on a deeper, non-physical level.

Our conversation revolves around three questions:

  1. How do we tap into our highest selves when we're facing collective trauma, like the conflicts between Israel and Gaza?

  2. What is the Gaian Experiment and how can we use our free will to foster wholeness amidst suffering and separation?

  3. How can we apply subtle activism to big issues like the Middle East conflict, and how
does it help in healing and transformation?

Anna’s Bio:

A former fashion model, Anna Gatmon, PhD, describes herself as a catalyst of transformation and spiritual guide. An engaging speaker with a unique life story, Anna has spent the last two decades on an inner quest into the workings of our world, the nature of reality, the significance of living through the current turbulent times, and the nature of suffering and transformation.

I can’t wait for you to hear this two-part conversation with former super model and modern day mystic, Dr. Anna Gatmon.

In part one we discuss Anna’s journey as an ugly duckling with a learning disability and painful family secrets that made her question her intelligence and her value.

Discovered in a Swedish drugstore as a teen, Anna went on to become an international model sensation. But she ultimately left the world of fashion for spiritual callings that included a stay at the Findhorn community in Scotland and now four books.

Anna shares with us hard won wisdom on:

How to avoid collapsing into your trauma story

How to make a one degree shift to change the trajectory of your whole life

4 Keys to Spiritual and Material wholeness

This is an inspiring conversation on finding wholeness and creating positive change, one degree at a time.

You’ll want to listen to the whole interview because Anna shares an inspiring story of a rescue Dog who shows how you can lure your most wounded parts into the light.

I had a deep and vulnerable conversation with Laura Hartley, Climate activist and Life Coach, about Acceptance as a Pathway to Transformation and Collective Liberation.

Acceptance is not giving up. Giving up implies a sense of resignation and defeat, often leading to inaction or a lack of engagement with the challenges at hand.

In contrast, acceptance is about understanding and acknowledging the reality of a situation while maintaining agency and openness to new possibilities.

We also discuss the long term effects of galvinizing people based on fear and anger ultimately leads to despair and a lack of imagination and joy.

🌟 Here are 3 key takeaways from our conversation:

1️⃣ Remember your story that is not yet complete. The story of the world and our lives is ongoing, offering us the potential to affect change.

2️⃣Enoughness before action: Don’t act from exhaustion. Get to a place of spaciousness and rest and then choose your action.

3️⃣Unlearning and understanding: Every individual in the pursuit of collective liberation has a unique responsibility to engage in unlearning toxic systems, honoring personal boundaries, and choosing the areas where they can make a meaningful impact without burning out.

Do you ever wonder why you keep getting burnt out?

Have you ever felt like nothing works when you initiate it, but when you respond to an invitation that’s where you shine?

Welcome to Season Two of the Mother Tree podcast!

This episode is a combination of two conversations I had with author and wisdom keeper Jojopahmaria Nsoroma.

In part one Jojopah and I delve deep into embracing self-mastery, healing the pain body, and ascending to higher timelines. The conversation is an enlightening journey filled with wisdom and insights that we can all apply to our own lives.

She shares her personal journey of transformation, from breaking free of the strong Black woman stereotype to reconnecting with her ancestral wisdom and the Dagara medicine wheel traditions.

Her book, "Wisdom Walk to Self Mastery," serves as a guide for those seeking holistic healing beyond traditional talk therapy.

During the episode, Jojopah explores the concept of timelines, highlighting the choice we have in determining which timeline - lower or higher octave - we want to embody.

She emphasizes the power of connecting with our divine consciousness and serving our purpose with love and community-centered focus.

Jojopah says: "We really are here to learn how to ascend in our consciousness during our lifetime. Where I start out as a child should not be where I I end up as an elder."

In part two, Jojopah answers questions from the Mother Tree community:

How do I create an altar?

Are ancestors the same as other divine helpers?

How do you hold space for others rather than trying to save them?

In today's episode, we have a very special guest, Matthew R. Reynolds. I reached out to Matthew after reading his weekly email where he spoke about envy and jealousy. But the first half of our conversation focuses on his father and reclaiming ancestors.

Matthew opens up about a longing he has carried with him throughout his life - a longing to know his father. As he shares his heartfelt desire to connect with his deceased father and explore the impact of his absence, we dive deep into the themes of internalized racial oppression and the capitalist system that perpetuates it.

Matthew's father passed away from Emphysema and COPD, and to honor him, Matthew takes a moment to say his father's name out loud.

We learn about his great-great-grandfather, who was a slave in Alabama, and how this past has strongly influenced his own father's life and subsequently Matthew's own.

As the conversation unfolds, Amanda and Matthew share their experiences of connecting with their ancestors. Amanda reveals her deep connection with trees as her ancestors, while Matthew reflects on his Irish ancestry and the importance of standing by trees. The belief that we are all connected, made of stardust, forms the foundation of their discussion.

As we journey through Matthew's exploration of his father's life, we also find ourselves transported to the awe-inspiring beauty of the big island of Hawaii where Matthew resides.

But the conversation doesn't end there. Aminata and Matthew discuss dance and theater as a form of healing abuse, racism and intergenerational trauma.

In the second half, Matthew reframes our perceptions of jealousy and envy. He encourages us to question the definition of success imposed upon us by society and to explore our own unique paths. Matthew also offers a powerful acronym for FAIL: "first attempt in learning."

Matthew also emphasizes accountability as a positive in our journey towards authenticity. We all need supportive communities and coaches who can help us navigate our shadows and empower us to stay true to ourselves and achieve our fullest potential.

Matthew also invites us to embrace difficulty and discomfort because they can lead us to profound personal and collective transformation.

So, grab a cup of tea, find a comfortable spot, and join us as we explore the intertwined threads of ancestry, healing, and the complex emotions of envy and jealousy. Welcome to the Mother Tree Network!

Matthew’s Bio

Matthew currently works with groups of people (organizations and "trusted circles") on developing their Equity Lens to develop humanity-led equity, connection, and thought in facilitated safe(r) spaces. He is the author of BIGGEST, FULLEST, BRIGHTEST: Shifting the Consciousness of Humanity.

"A lot of people don't stop to think about the historical trauma that black people face or could possibly be retriggered by going into these Nature's faces and seeing the trees and seeing the moss hanging from the trees to be transported to the conversations of lynching."--Chris Omni

"Happiness happens to you. Joy happens within you. So it is very possible to hold both joy and pain in the same body at the same time."--Chris Omni

🌿🌻 Let's talk about the POWER of BLACK JOY! 🌻🌿

Amanda Aminata recently had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Chris Omni, the "health hippie" and black joy scholar, on the Mother Tree Network. Their conversation was nothing short of INSPIRING! 🙌

Dr. Omni spoke about turning 49 and how this milestone is aligned with awareness and spiritual connection. She reminded us that "your vibe attracts your tribe!” 🌀✨

But wait, there's more! She distinguished between happiness and joy, emphasizing that joy is collective. Joy happens within you but is also shared among your tribe—B L A C K joy. 🖤

The conversation delved deep into the collective nature of black joy, supporting the strong black woman phenomena. Dr. Omni highlighted the ability to carry joy and pain simultaneously. The strength in that duality is truly remarkable! 💪

When asked about cultivating joy from within, Dr. Omni alluded to taking one day at a time. 🌟

Then the conversation took a pivot, shedding light on the deficit narrative perpetuated in public health research about the black community. Shocking stats were shared—higher likelihood of certain illnesses among black women compared to their white counterparts. 😞

BUT, Dr. Chris Omni...Drumroll please...proposed a way to SHIFT the narrative! 🥁

She conducted a study on black joy in green spaces, using arts-based research methods. And guess what? The healing power of nature was profound! 🌿

From there, the discussion bloomed into cultivating gratitude and joy over time, nurturing it like a garden. 🌻

Amanda Aminata added a beautiful note about the importance of slowing down and connecting with nature, connecting to Dr. Omni's love for turtles and his research on black joy in green spaces. 🐢🍃

Dr. Omni chose to focus on Black Joy in her research to counteract the deficit narrative often associated with the black community in public health, aiming to address health disparities. 🙏

Finally, they delve into the intersection of Kwanzaa values and their influence on the concept of black joy. Dr. Omni shares her “Kojima Theory” of collective self-motivation, which incorporates the principles of Kujichagulia (self-determination), Ujima (collective work and responsibility), and Kuumba (creativity).

As they discuss the importance of pleasure and joy in one's work, we also celebrate Dr. Omni's groundbreaking achievement of co-creating the first-ever journal dedicated exclusively to black joy. Their conversation serves as a powerful testament to the significance of reframing narratives and the impact of joy-centered research.

This conversation truly celebrated the beauty of black joy and left us feeling INSPIRED to nurture our joy, one day at a time –far and wide! 🖤✨

Welcome back to the Mother Tree Network! In today's episode, we have the incredible Nina Simons joining us to share her wisdom, experiences, and insights.

Nina starts off by discussing her unique practice of creating an altar around a tree to protect her New Mexico home from wildfires, which led her to deepen her relationship with the land and feel a sense of sacredness.

“And there was a huge wildfire, the biggest in New Mexico's history. I reached out to a friend and she said:. Make an altar around a tree that you love. And that became my practice. Putting flowers around the base of the tree and feeding it with water and sometimes with wine and with prayer. And sending the prayer down into its roots and up into its branches.

Nina then dives into her book "Nature, Culture, and the Sacred," focusing on women's leadership and racial equity and justice.

She passionately emphasizes the importance of strengthening the feminine within everyone, not just women, as the repression of the feminine has had a profound impact on society as a whole.

Together, Aminata and Nina explore the significance of diverse leadership and racial equity, discussing the challenges and lessons learned from convening diverse groups.

They delve into the importance of creating safe spaces, discomfort resilience, and the need for love and acceptance in racial justice work.

Cultural humility is also a key concept highlighted, acknowledging the embedded white supremacy and implicit bias that exist in society.

Nina shares her personal experiences with cultural humility, the conflict in Israel and Palestine, and the importance of listening with the heart.

But the wisdom doesn't stop there. Nina shares her profound experience with a plant mentor, Apache Plume, and the lessons she learned about revealing beauty, camouflage, fertility, and growing in community.

The conversation takes a personal turn as Nina discusses her transformative process in her 60s, recognizing her white privilege and conditioning, and the importance of slowing down and making deliberate choices.

Nina's deep connection with nature and its capacity to heal and regenerate shines through as she shares her journey of finding solace and stability in nature.

This episode is filled with deep wisdom, personal experiences, and a call to honor the feminine in ourselves and the world.

"When I came to play the singing bowls for the first time ever for a group of people... She said right before I started, you should sing with the bowls. And that felt like it was asking for some courage for me to share my voice. And I went for it, and it felt the most aligned I've ever felt, sharing something with people."--Stacey Pickering

Welcome to another episode of the Mother Tree Network podcast!

In today's episode, our host, Aminata, sits down with the incredible Stacey Pickering, a sound healer and vibrational therapist. They delve deep into the power of sound and its impact on our emotional and physical well-being.

Aminata opens up about a childhood experience that affected her self-confidence, and Stacey empathizes, emphasizing the importance of embracing our own voices. Together, they explore the idea of using vocal sounds as a means of releasing emotions and finding resolution.

With the rise of technology, Aminata questions the difference between hearing someone else sing and singing imperfectly oneself. Stacey introduces the concept of humming and its ability to regulate the nervous system, even demonstrating a breathing and humming exercise.

The conversation then turns towards the application of sound practices in public schools to help children regulate themselves. Stacey's wisdom and experience shine through as they discuss her background in yoga, chanting, and the profound resonance she feels within her body when using specific tones.

As the episode continues, Stacey shares her journey into facilitating sound journeys and the transformative impact it has had on her life. They discuss the interconnectedness of the mind and body, emphasizing the importance of somatic experiences and movement for healing and release.

"The vibrational resonance just reached right in there, just transcended the part of my logical mind that could keep talking me out of… letting go or, … Went right past that loud mind, that resistant mind."–Stacey Pickering

Aminata and Stacey also touch on the financial challenges faced by holistic practitioners and the vulnerability associated with using one's voice. They both agree that walking into that fear is an essential part of the healing process.

So sit back, relax, and join us as we delve into the world of sound healing and vibrational therapy with Stacey Pickering on this enlightening episode of the Mother Tree Network podcast.

"It's important not just for me, but also when we come into other spaces and our allies also recognize the land we're on…. I think it goes to help repair the long erasure of Native American people. And that invisibility even here in Baltimore City, when we were advocating for Indigenous Peoples Day, people were shocked, like, what? There's Indians in Baltimore? Like, yeah, we're still here. We didn't go away."

[Trauma Alert: Short mention of childhood sexual abuse and incest]

I hope you will celebrate Native American Heritage and peoples during November. One great way is to spend time on Thanksgiving is to listening to Native voices and extending reciprocity to Native peoples and earth mama.

We are re-publishing this joyful conversation with Jennifer Folayan who offers us much needed advice on:

1️⃣How to make land and peoples acknowledgements personal

2️⃣ How to help synchronicities aka miracles find you

3️⃣How to accomplish a big scary goal.

Aligning your emotions with your intentions; holding your intention with lightness; and keep swimming–taking action.

Jennifer tells the Turtle Island origin story, a version of which is held by many Native groups in North America as an example of someone small fulfilling a huge task.

Finally, Jennier shares how you can have generational trauma and still be light and joyful. We are all perfect.

"Have a couple good cries because it helps you to clean things out so that then you're ready to do the deep investigative work of what is there in the wintertime…"

During this interview Dr. Sina and I talk about sadness and grief and why the fall is the time to let the tears flow!

Dr. Sina's tagline, "Where healing begins with being heard," perfectly encapsulates the heart of our conversation.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) fall is associated with grief and people are encouraged to cry as a way to shed or let go of attachments.

“So when we think about the fall and the letting go, it's also the [time of] grief and sadness … and allowing it to pass through us instead of holding on to us.”

We also address some other questions such as:

How does TCM visit differ from western allopathic medicine?

What’s so great about shitake mushrooms in the fall?

How do you make yourself cry even when you feel like you can’t?

Moreover, we delved into the significance of self-listening and the value of allowing oneself to express emotions, particularly through moments of cathartic crying. Dr. Sina encourages embracing vulnerability and introspection, especially during the fall season when turning inward becomes a natural inclination.

As we progress through this season of completion and introspection, take some time to immerse yourself in activities that surface sadness. Whether it's journaling, meditation, or watching sad movies, allow this time for self-reflection and cleansing emotions.

“These external dwelling principles, that sometimes we refer to as deities, like the Neturu, like Orisha, like the many gods of many pantheons, have all been there for me from day one, and I had to find them from a traditional and well policed location."-- Dr. Geryll “G. Love” Robinson

How does a Black girl born in Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, New York wake up to the fact that she is Intergalactic royalty and on a mission to enlighten others?

You are going to have to listen to this most unusual conversation with Dr. Geryll “G. Love” Robinson.

Dr. G Love, as she is known, shares her journey from Catholicism which she refers to as a “well policed location” to the arts and napropy medical school to finally stepping up to her calling as a bodhisattva with plenty of attitude and humor!

When I asked her how she knew she was intergalactic, Dr. G says it was when she found the gods and goddesses from African and indigenous sources that she woke up.

“These external dwelling principles, that sometimes we refer to as deities, like the Neturu, like Orisha, like the many gods of many pantheons, have all been there for me from day one."

Fortunately, Catholicism with its emphasis on saints, laid the groundwork for her exploration of the Orisha, the Neteru, and indigenous practices of the Mayan and Aztec peoples.

Throughout the interview Dr. G. refers to systems that might be unfamiliar so let me share some background below.

Neteru not only refers to gods and goddesses of Kemet or Ancient Egypt but also to the cosmic principles that were conceived of in that culture.

The Orisha represent the pantheon of gods and goddesses that are upheld in the cosmology of the Yoruba people based in West Africa, but also in Brazil, Cuba and the U.S.

Dr. G Love emphasizes timing and working with cycles rather than against them.

For example she brings up the Saturn return which in astrology refers to a roughly twenty-eight year corrective cycle. Saturn returns tend to be difficult because they force us to restructure or repour the foundations of our lives..

Additionally, Dr. G Love shares insights into naprapathy, a unique treatment approach for the spine.

"I would say that gift [from cancer] was to slow down because before then … I was just so focused on achieving and success and anything that wasn't related to what I thought to be success at the time I didn't do it, and I didn't like distractions or what I considered to be distractions... And so I learned to slow down."

Mfon's Pearls of Wisdom

🌷Slow Down! Take time every day to appreciate something simple and beautiful. Really connect with the people you love. Watch movies from other cultures.

📚🙏 Study Scripture Reading for comprehension is one thing, but studying infuses knowledge into our lives. Just like adding salt to food, studying sacred writings allows us to internalize the messages and speak life into difficult situations.

💤💪 Rest and Recovery Our bodies speak to us, and it's crucial to listen. Taking naps and prioritizing rest are essential for replenishing our energy.

During the fall equinox 2023 I went to Mt. Shasta, CA and awakened to some beautiful “way-out” stuff while leading our Mother Tree Equinox Soul Journey.

In this episode, I share two experiences from Shasta that took me deeper into liberation and remade me.

First, I went to a pyramid that had been built according to the proportions of one of the pyramids at Giza under the guidance of archangel Metatron.

Nowhere near as big as the original, this pyramid was about 1 ½ times the size of my canvas tent at home and brought our group of 13 into intimate contact with each other.

When the trapdoor to the pyramid was closed, we were in almost complete darkness.

When you listen in, you will hear how I dealt with my resistance and became a vocal powerhouse.

The second experience came during a tea ceremony.

While sitting in this ceremony with extremely rare and expensive teas that our guide, Gary, had been initiated into by masters, I started to feel my energy tingle and almost re-route itself.

**I was sitting with the biggest piece of shungite I’ve ever seen nestled between my thighs .

As I drank cup after cup of tea made with sacred waters from the Pacific Northwest as well as Shasta, I started to feel light and wanted to remove restrictive clothing.**

I followed my intuition and something really beautiful happened.

I liberated myself!

This episode is really a story so it’s hard to summarize; I hope I’ve given you plenty of reasons to listen.

The medicine is in the oral transmission.

In the latest episode of Mother Tree Network, we hear from Dr. Beverly Carter, a CEO, organizational development leader, philanthropist, and woman of color who shares some powerful and insightful stories that we can all learn from.

Here are just a few key takeaways:

Acknowledge and work with the unseen world and the energy patterns that need to be healed there.

- The fragility of life and the importance of honoring our bodies are underscored after Beverly witnessed the death of a Nigerian team member while on a medical mission in Africa.

- Being true to yourself and learning to grow from victim in the past to leader in the now–the Transformational Jewels approach to uncovering your life purpose.

- Beverly shares moving stories from her experiences in Nigeria and Kenya, including extraordinary experiences in an old growth forest, fascinating work with charities, and powerful lessons learned from malaria and near-death experiences.

TIME STAMP SUMMARY

[00:04:31] The author discusses how being a woman of color and different made her hypersensitive to how others view her. She learned to focus on how she sees herself and not to hide or shrink from being her authentic self. Her goal is to lead others back to themselves and encourage people to be their best selves.

[00:10:05] Narrator travels to Morocco from Spain with friends but realizes her real education started when she got to Africa. The narrator decides to go back to soak up the culture and eventually visits Kenya for almost two years.

[00:13:24] Text summary: Examples of wonderful experiences, including walking through the Cockamega Forest, surviving malaria, and teaching in boarding schools with non-traditional cooking methods. Shift in mindset and appreciation for life.

[00:20:05] Land represents freedom and a chance to create the lives we want, and we shouldn't take it for granted, as shown by the struggles of migrants.

[00:22:57] Speaker reflects on the awe-inspiring animals she saw in Kenya and the power dynamic between humanity and the natural world.

[00:24:54] Quantum healing example involving an amputee's phantom pains and the idea that quantum patterns exist even if the physical body part does not.

[00:29:35] EJ's Charities provides free medical care on medical missions to Nigeria, initiated by Dr. JAMA and Duca, MD, providing opportunities for people to heal, grow and live a better quality of life. They have been doing this work for almost 20 years and have had extraordinary results.

[00:37:10] The text describes a medical mission experience in West Africa where a driver died suddenly, emphasizing the importance of self-care and taking care of our bodies.

[00:41:05] Transformational Jewels helps individuals process and heal personal blocks through using various methods to examine past experiences and perspectives, leading to becoming a leader in the present and future.

Yeah, I feel tied to this land. The spot is very magical. Very special. I feel like she talks to me. The plants talk to me. The animals tell me. I don't know how to describe that intuitive sense. Because for me, my intuitive knowing comes in the form of knowing

–Missy Singer Dumars

This episode features the incredible Missy Singer Dumars, a passionate farmer and storyteller. Get ready to dive into the world of farming, mindfulness, and the beautiful connection between humans and nature.

In this episode, Missy takes us on an extraordinary journey from her beginnings in Las Vegas to her current life as a commercial farmer. She shares how her love for fresh produce led her to explore farmers markets and master the art of cooking. Eventually, her deep connection to the earth and its bountiful gifts inspired her to embark on a farming adventure.

Missy's farm, aptly named Crownhill Farm, is not only a place of cultivation but also a vessel for her spiritual connection with the land.

"It's awe. It's an experience of awe and wonder...like, I mean, just think about a seed. It amazes me every single time."

She believes in nurturing the soil, practicing mindfulness, and creating a closed and sustainable system. From practicing "no-till" farming to communicating with plants and animals, Missy's farming practices go beyond traditional organic methods. She even cautions against the use of heavy machinery to preserve the delicate balance of micro-ecosystems in the soil.

During the episode, Missy shares the awe-inspiring experience of watching plants grow, comparing it to the joy and wonder of raising children. She believes in being present and aware while working on the farm, truly listening to the sounds of nature and finding harmony within the rhythm of life.

One fascinating aspect of Missy's journey is the history and paranormal experiences attached to her farm. The Crownhill Farm house, built in 1850, holds a rich and mysterious past. Missy recounts the captivating story of purchasing the house from a local author who wrote a hauntingly beautiful book about the property called "Crownhill." This historical fiction, love story, and ghost story adds an extra layer of enchantment to Missy's connection with the land.

But farming is not an easy journey, as Missy candidly shares. She reveals the challenges of making a living as a commercial farmer, especially on a smaller scale like her 13-acre farm. However, Missy's determination and belief in divine timing have led her to embrace her unique way of doing business. She encourages us to define our own success and allow our businesses to grow in alignment with our values and goals.

"When you have people who have been oppressed or who've been marginalized in a room where you're reviewing history or where you are acknowledging them, I think it's important to emphasize a narrative of resistance, of resilience, of incredible capacity in addition to loss and grief."--Amanda Aminata Sol

Welcome back, beautiful souls, to another insightful episode of the Mother Tree Network. I'm your host, Amanda Aminata, and today, on my fifty-seventh birthday, I am filled with gratitude and excitement to share this special episode about some thought-provoking topics that have been on my mind for quite some time.

Firstly, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to my mother, who may no longer be with us in the physical realm but continues to be a guiding presence in my life. On this day of my birth, I want to honor the lineage of strong Mississippi black women, who faced incredible adversity, from segregation to Jim Crow, and were descendants of enslaved people. Their resilience and wisdom have shaped my journey, and I want to pay tribute to their legacy.

Second, in this episode, I will share my perspective on why I do not consider myself a victim. This realization came to me while listening to an intriguing podcast by a Korean American marketing coach. While she discussed intersectional justice and acknowledged historical injustices faced by black and brown communities, it left me feeling unsettled and disempowered. I believe there is a more inspiring and empowering way to tell our stories, drawing upon the strength and wisdom passed down by older generations who have faced immense hardships.

Moreover, I will discuss the importance of how we tell our stories, especially for those in positions of influence, such as teachers, facilitators, and podcasters. Rather than focusing solely on oppression and victimization, we must also highlight narratives of resistance, resilience, and creativity. By shifting the perspective to one of power and possibility, we can empower ourselves and those around us to overcome obstacles and strive for greatness.

Special thanks to my frequency mate and hubby Michael Jamanis for allowing me to use a selection from Breathing with Bach. You can go to his youtube channel to get more of his music.

"I am a manifestation of the larger divine feminine…part of her masculine presentation... So much of the plant medicine comes from the great mother through the great mother. So the voice of everything in me is how everything in my mind comes from the feminine."

Tune in to this thought-provoking episode of Mother Tree Network and discover the power of voice, ancestral healing, and the journey to harmonizing our racially diverse ancestors within ourselves.

Tyger Blair is an actor and singer who now works in restorative justice and plant medicine healing. In our conversation he shares his personal journey of self-discovery, starting in Ashland.Oregon and delving into the arts community, where they developed his voice and acting skills.

As Tyger reflects on his experiences growing up as one of the few black individuals in Ashland, he highlights the healing embrace he received from the all-white community, setting him on a path of curiosity about his African heritage.

His quest for knowledge led him to Africa and the teachings of Malidoma Some, igniting his passion for indigenous African Shamanic Technologies and gatekeeping to uplift the community.

But the journey doesn't stop there. Tyger's exploration of indigenous practices expands beyond Africa, encompassing the Maria Sabina sacred mushroom tradition of Mesoamerica.

Through this voyage, Tyger discusses the multifaceted nature of his identity, weaving together Native American, African, and Irish ancestors and cosmologies.

💫 Today, I want to share an incredibly powerful and transformative experience that I had recently. It involved mushrooms, vulnerability, and an unexpected connection that reminded me of the profound relationship between grief and laughter. Prepare to be moved! 🌿🎭

🎻 It all started as I sat on my screened-in porch, surrounded by nature, with my beloved partner by my side. Seeking a deeper connection with myself and the universe, I embarked on a mushroom journey, unsure of what awaited me on the other side. Little did I know, it would change everything. 🍄💕

🎶 As the mushrooms began to take effect, I felt an intense resonance with my husband, who plays the violin. In that moment, the music seemed to enhance and carry my voice further than I could on my own. The violin became a protector, enveloping my vocal tone and preserving my vibrational energy. 🎻✨

💔 Waves of sadness washed over me, and I found myself crying uncontrollably. In the past, I would try to rationalize my tears or push them away, but this time, I allowed myself to fully feel the pain in my heart. I surrendered to the tears, letting them flow without judgment or resistance. 🌊💧

🌟 And guess what happened? Something truly magical. In the midst of my tears, a shift occurred, and laughter burst forth. Grief and laughter, almost like roommates or twin sisters, intertwined within me. The absurdity of life, the joy and appreciation, flooded my being. 😂✨

🎵 My partner, my beloved, communicated through his violin, extending deep notes and carrying my toning when I needed to breathe. Our collaboration was effortless, as if they could effortlessly find and share the same frequency. It was a symphony of love and connection. 🎼💞

💪 As a mature woman in her late 50s, I've developed coping mechanisms to survive in the world. But in this vulnerable moment, I realized that trying to stop myself from crying only made me cry more. I learned the power of fully surrendering and letting myself be seen in my most raw state. 🌹

💕 This experience reminded me of the importance of broadcasting a frequency from the heart, a frequency that may not always be conveyed through words. I felt supported in my broadcasting efforts, with my partner as a key member of my support team, protecting and cushioning me. 🌿🛡️

📩 I'd love to hear about your own journeys and experiences that you might want to share. If you resonate with my message or have any thoughts, feel free to email me. You can also join the Mother Tree Community. Let's connect and learn from each other. 💌

🍄 Disclaimer: When I mention mushrooms, please note that I'm not endorsing any illegal activity. My focus is on promoting good health and exploring the potential for emotional healing. 🌿🌱

👉 Thank you for joining me on this profound journey. If you resonated with my experience, I invite you to reach out and connect. 💫✨

Join us for this episode of Mother Tree Network as I embrace the spirit of dandelion, wander in the realm of questioning, and navigate the currents of redirection and transformation.

I include two recordings of me channeling Dandelion Spirit about the Supreme Court reversal of Affirmative Action and the floods in Vermont.

These transmissions encourage a deep exploration of the unknown and emphasize the power of questioning to uncover new perspectives and truths.

Drawing inspiration from the concept of following the wind, Dandelion Spirit poses important questions regarding affirmative action, its beneficiaries, effectiveness, and possible alternatives.

In the second transmission, I focus on the recent flooding in Vermont that caused road closures and delayed my journey, I contemplate the river's rising as a force of divine feminine energy.

I had just eaten dandelion greens and sipped my dandelion tincture before reading Jen Frey's book, "Communicating with Plants," which has a chapter on Dandelion Spirit.

I reflect on the need for new structures to contain and follow this energy's path while being prepared for possible evacuation.

Exploring the concept of redirection and the flow of energy, Dandelion encourages the emergence of new relationships, articulations, business practices, friendships, and ways of living on the land.

“Every single one of those obstacles, every single one of those challenges, every single one of those humans...were just literally helping me point back to myself. They were helping me point back to my highest self. And allowing me to grow and expand."--Aurora Archer

On this episode of Mother Tree Network, I interview Aurora Archer, a former corporate marketing executive and founder of The Opt-in, podcast and beneficial corporation. Aurora shares her belief that corporate America is at a moment of transformation and discusses how her diverse background and marketing career helped break the generational legacy of debt and poverty in her family.

A native Texan with a Mexican immigrant mother, Aurora grew up with a strong sense of identity and pride. She shares how her mother's teachings about the beauty of her culture, her connection to nature, and the belief that everything we need is provided by Mother Earth shaped her perspective.

Aurora shares her personal journey of growth, the importance of representation in leadership roles for people of color, and the challenges she faced fitting into binary categories. She also discusses her successful corporate career, the challenges of entrepreneurship, and The Opt-In’s focus on developing racial literacy and cultural competency in Corporate America.

Aurora's company, The Opt-in, offers workshops, coaching, and product development sprints. She highlights the importance of diversity in product design to avoid oversights and accidents, and how addressing simple issues like Zoom backgrounds reflects the ability to tackle complex innovations.

The episode ends with Aurora sharing her gratitude for supportive educators who believed in her potential and the power of Black women’s sisterhood, as well as her father's emphasis on the importance of one's heart and mind.

This episode is my initial perspective on the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Affirmative Action.

I've been wrestling with this!

Yes, affirmative action was helpful.

Yes, I am grateful for my life and every opportunity that affirmative action subtly nudged open for me.

Yes, it is a loss.

But I'm wrestling because that's not all I want to say here.

I also want to say:

There's an underside to affirmative action.

Namely, the belief that "good" or "liberal" white people were "giving" me something that I had not earned or that my community was too bereft to give me.

Affirmative action did not shift the power dynamics.

Affirmative action was not reparations.

Affirmative action did not free us..

James Baldwin said:

'Freedom is not something that anybody can be given. Freedom is something people take, and people are as free as they want to be.'

We are only as free as our consciousness allows us to want to be.

Consciousness refers to the mindset and heartset that we bring to every situation–even how we see ourselves.

I agree with Bob Marley who said, "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds."

So, how do I free myself?

I practice "slowing down" to listen to nature and my ancestors rather than CNN.

I notice that we walk in spirals.

I ask myself questions:

How do I meet this current version of the challenge to be free?

What deeper understanding about freedom, interdependence, and decolonization can I bring to this moment?

On this episode I share what Dandelion Spirit guided me to do about the overturning of affirmative action.

Here's just a snippet of what I received from Dandelion Spirit:

Allow the unknown to emerge...

Ask Questions

Wake up

Follow the scent

It's on the wind

We are dandelion; we follow the wind

What questions does it make you or let you ask?

I encourage you to slow down to catch the scent of the deeper implications and possibilities.

Don't let influencers do your thinking for you.

There may be a drive to go fast; to act fast; decide fast.

When I go fast it's usually because my core abandonment wound has been activated:

Fear of losing love and protection-and enduring hunger and neglect.

Slow down.

Be independent.

Pay attention to what you are feeding your consciousness.

"None but ourselves can free our minds."

If this resonates with you--join me for more on Friday, July 7.

"5 Signs It's Time to Slow Down your Racial Justice and Regenerate"

Slow down, ask questions and catch the scent with me!

Please share this with friends who

  • Have been doing social justice for more than a minute.
  • Are tired or losing energy for what you do or how you used to do your social justice.
  • Want to decolonize their consciousness.

Kirsten and I have a magical conversation about how to get in the flow of magic and joy.

A pre-school teacher, Kirsten leads fairy walks to help adults and children reconnect with our senses so that we can perceive and receive life energy from the more-than-human world.

We talk about Kirsten’s first mystical experience which happened while working at a college prep farm school in the midwest.

There she had a vision of herself living and being sustained by three regions, the Midwest -her roots; the Bay Area for wizarding; and North Carolina for jigging and living in her heart.

It was fascinating to watch Kirsten stop in mid sentence and consult her inner wisdom, which she also calls her Inner Child.

Kirsten says any part of us can lead but to choose consciously which part we want to lead. For example, the mind can lead the chi (your life force energy), but the body can lead the mind.

Since both of us have a lot of virgo energy and naturally lean toward quick mind, Kirsten says she turns toward the body, outdoors, and trees to slow down and ground.

Kirsten pointed out that many women emerge in mid-life with new interests and talents, and we drop the “should” and allow ourselves to listen to our “Highest guidance” and trust the instinct to play.

If you would like to tap into your inner child magical joy, Kirsten recommends you start with the following:

Play with children

Watch loving mother child interactions (could be a youtube animal kingdom video)

Focus on your feet, especially wiggling your toes

Get outside!

You can find out more about Kirsten’s fairy walks and multidimensional healing services at https://innerchildoutside.com/

According to our guest Jen Frey, “Plants want to communicate with us. They love us. They know their part in the great web of Life, and they want to help us remember ours.”

What a fun conversation about co-creating with Nature spirits, plants, robins, bunnies and more.

Jen Frey is a land apprentice who has been living on a 20-acre property with her husband for the past eight years. She has been on an intense journey of discovery, trying to communicate with the land and plants and understand what they are telling her. Although she does not hear words from the land and plants, she gets strong feelings and images that guide her.

In this episode Jen who is the founder and owner of BrigidsWay, tells us how she is working with nature’s intelligence to restore the land she cares for, Heart Sanctuary.

We discuss some of the principles of regeneration and restoration that apply to social justice and human evolution.

Jen just published a new book– Communicating with Plants: Heart-Based Practices for Connecting with Plant Spirits. It is now available at all bookstores, including Amazon. Use my affiliate link to purchase on amazon: Communicating with Plants: Heart-Based Practices.... Contact me if you’d like to be part of our book discussion group later this summer. Amanda@dramandakemp.com

In Communicating with Plants, Jen writes, “Plants can help us to discover solutions to any problem or question, including big collective issues such as climate change, social injustice, energy alternatives, poverty, agriculture, housing, diseases, and anything else that keeps us from thriving...Plants meet us where we are, sharing the wisdom and gifts that we need the most at that time.”

Additionally, the podcast features Amy Kietzman, a short story writer and forest caretaker, who shares her experiences with communication with plants, offering a unique perspective. Don't miss this chance to explore an innovative way of communication that will help you connect with nature.

*Thank you for joining me for this solo episode where I am going to be talking about how to regenerate your racial justice.

This was originally a talk that I gave to some members of my racial justice from the Heart community. I decided to edit it and make it a podcast because it reflects my latest thinking and feeling about how to do racial justice or any social justice work in a way that is healthy, regenerative, and life giving. Something I think has been missing too often from the work we do is delight!

In this episode, I'm going to share with you what I call the 5R's to Regenerative Racial Justice: Rest, Release, Restore, Root and Roar.

These 5R's are going to be the focus of our upcoming Soul Journey to the Summer Solstice on June 17 through the 21st. Each day we're going to focus on one of the R's with the intention that we regenerate and roar by the completion of our time together.

If you love the moon or are curious about what its cycles mean for you, then you will love this conversation with Martha Artemis Rogers (she/they)!
Martha Artemis, founder of Full Moon Acupuncture and author, is an expert in all things lunar. With a deep understanding of how the Moon moves in relation to the Earth and Sun, Martha helps others navigate the phases of the Moon and understand the energy it brings.

But we also talk about earth rhythms and cycles more broadly. Martha warns us that living counter to the seasons, takes us out of rhythm with our planet and erodes our sense of belonging.

Feeling lonely, isolated or like nobody cares about you?

How connected do you feel to the season, time of day or where the sun and moon are?

Re-establishing this fundamental connection will help us to remember that we are never alone or unloved.

Martha tells us that, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, summer invites us to nourish the heart and promote connection, joy, and intimacy. It is a time for full outward blooming.

Summer offers us yang energy which encourages us to expand and open wide to connect with community!

Martha Artemis offers suggestions for how to nourish the heart through lifestyle, food, practices, and herbs. She reminds us that even in summer, we need to keep nourishing our roots and resting.

It's not either -or all or nothing. Think in terms of cycles and rhythms--yes and!

We also talk about how to use this energy for justice work and to elevate our planet.

Living counter to the wisdom of each season is one of the primary causes of disease and leads to inner conflict and burn out.

The upcoming summer solstice represents the height of summer's maturity, warmth, and abundance.

In this episode You will learn how to:

  • Align with the moon cycles,
  • Choose myths that empower you,
  • Get the most out of the summer season and the foods that support your heart.

Martha’s Bio

While I was in the North Georgia Mountains, I got a chance to talk with Shannon Mitchell and Christine Gautreaux, co-owners of Women Connected in Wisdom. Their business model includes an online community, podcast, book, and an annual conference where authors speak.

Both women live in Atlanta and have multiple businesses.

Shannon bowled me over when she shared during the interview that she took her unemployment checks during Covid to start up her business SheaLo Glow.

Now three years later this twenty-something queen has a storefront shop as well as an online business!

Shannon also shares her story of a 12-year separation from her mother and her mother's family, and how it affected her identity and connection to her cultural community. We also learn about her positive relationship with Christina and how they both prioritize openness and honesty.

Christine, a professional speaker and social worker, has written books that have opened doors for her and given her opportunities to speak at conferences and events. Christine noticed that many other women had incredible stories and voices, but had not yet been published.

Together she and Shannon, decided to create a podcast and a compilation book featuring 18 authors, most of whom had never been published before. Their mission is to get these stories and voices out into the world and into the hands of readers. Christine believes that books are valuable tools for entrepreneurs and caregivers alike and can open doors that might not otherwise be available.

Called Women Connected in Wisdom, the book and podcast focuses on the eight dimensions of wellness and the importance of uprooting oppression, acknowledging the unique challenges faced by Black women. The podcast also includes recommendations for books each episode.

Shannon shares her love for shea butter and their skincare routine. Lastly, we hear about Christine’s love of her Interplay performance group in Atlanta that deals with big historic issues through movement and storytelling.

This week I'm sharing lessons from my experience Living in a Tiny House in the North Georgia Mountains.

The idea of a month away came during the Winter Solstice Virtual Retreat. Leading up to the retreat I felt a need to journey with plants, and I said yes to this intuition even though I did not want to leave my beloved trees and I wasn't sure how i would lead the Winter Solstice Virtual retreat on the road.

Nonetheless, I traveled to California and stayed with a friend who offered a tarot reading. There it came up--spend a month alone. This got reinforced during my plant journey where I told myself to spend a month alone--preferably somewhere warm--was my heart's desire.

To spend a month alone required me to put myself first.

It meant leaving my husband, my son, the house, the dog, the land we tend, my routines, all of the known for the unknown.

But the payoff was enormous.

  • I felt myself regenerating my energy as I walked the forested land nude when it was warm enough but always shoeless.
  • I cried face down on the land when sexual abuse wounds got activated.
  • I prayed for healing and wisdom when foster kid trauma got activated.
  • By being mostly alone, I did not have the normal distractions.
  • I couldn't project the blame onto others.
  • I start this episode With my funniest memory and what the crows told me soon after I arrived.

You can listen here to discover my biggest big takeaways:

  1. Slow is Good!

Concentrate on the soil of my being rather than the seeds of my desires, projects and outward work. Good soil will cause seeds to sprout and root well--easily. Tend the soil--more than your ideas and plans--if you want your garden to produce. 2. I was not afraid or lonely.

The land and the crows, and the coyotes kept me company. I felt adopted into "the family of things" as Mary Oliver says. 3. Saturn is in pisces--and we've got some unfinished healing from 1993-96.

I have been able to see how this celestial movement reflected a previous time in my life where I "pretended" everything was okay but was struggling mightily with boundaries and self-care.

Many of us will get to spiral through whatever was difficult regarding emotions and boundaries if we were alive in 1993-1996.

Please, leave a review. It will help others to find the podcast.

Easter and Passover give us the opportunity to reflect on an experience of injustice or not being loved and use it as a doorway for transformation.

For me that was the gift of the situation where the champion women's basketball team at LSU was slighted by the White House and mainstream narratives.

You can google it if you want more details.

My point in sharing this is to let you know about the healing journey that I've chosen to SLOW DOWN and pay attention to in the last few days and to share some wisdom from my Sister Colleague and Wisdom Keeper, Rev. Dr. Stephanie R. Burns.

The first thing I acknowledged to myself and now to you is that this situation triggered old and deep pain.

Of not being loved.

Not being cherished.

Not being claimed and celebrated.

I was feeling angry, sad, and scared.

Second, I did not engage my social media feeds or my friends via text.

Instead I went up the mountain on Spirit's Knob and asked to be healed of my triggers--the part of me that is caught up in Old, Historic and Collective Hurts.

As I walked barefoot, I murmured to plants, trees and stones along the way.

In this interview with Dr. Burns you will hear what happened next and the medicine that all of us can take from something like this.

You can follow Dr. Stephanie R Burns on LinkedIn and Instagram. You can support her on patreon at Spirit Grove.

Imagine what it would be like for you to observe things getting ever more chaotic with banks failing and former presidents being arrested WITHOUT slipping into panic, social media plunges, or overwhelm.

Imagine you feel connected with the intelligence and rhythms of nature rather than the 24-7 news cycle which is full of scarcity, violence, and impending doom.

You have values.

You have people and plants and animals you love.

You decide you do something for yourself and the whole planet.

You take a deep breath and decide to be guided by your vision not your fears.

This is what a vision board is!

A vision board is a sacred reminder of what you stand for, what your heart desires, and the vibration you hold on behalf of us all--You return to it periodically to re-orient yourself when things get hard because you will see that sometimes the hard stuff helps you get to your vision!

That's why I created my own vision board last year.

It worked so well that I'd like to invite you to join me this year!

I am hosting a Vision Board Party for Healers and Feelers Rooted in Justice!

A vision board is a visual representation of what you’d like to experience, feel, see or be in the coming year.

Vision Boarding (aka treasure mapping) doesn’t have to be selfish or materialistic.

Think of a collage filled with images and words that inspire you to take care of yourself, contribute and connect with others and the planet.

Would you like to check it out?

Go to this link:

Vision Board Party for Healers and Feelers Rooted in Justice!

When I look at my vision board today, I realize I’ve manifested much of what was on there:

  • I’m in a luxurious tiny house in the beautiful Georgia Mountains as I write this.
  • I am about to release a new album on April 30 called Message from the Trees.
  • I’ve hosted three retreats this year for Sister Queens, for the Winter Solstice and for the Spring Equinox – all of which fulfilled on my desire to share knowledge about spiritual mysteries.

This year as we enter a period of economic and political chaos, it’s more important than ever to stay focused on your heartfelt desires and the actions you are willing to take to experience them.

Emotions and mindset matters.

Actions infused by fear, scarcity, and us vs. them thinking will not help in the long run.

What will help is action in alignment with a vision, a heartfelt desire, an inspiration.

This is how you avoid overwhelm, despair, and exhaustion.

The Vision Board Party for Healers and Feelers Rooted in Justice is for YOU!

Biz and I started by talking about motherhood and resisting the urge to protect our adult children from hard stuff in life.

Biz said she now asks “What do you need from me?” as a way to give and to respect her sons’ autonomy. Asking that question puts the power in their hands.

Little did I know that I'd use this exact question one day later when a young friend was in crisis.

And, then again when my college friend had a sudden family death.

It's a beautiful way to support someone without overdoing it!

Then I asked Biz abut Internal Family Systems, a form of inquiry that she uses in her therapy and coaching practices.

Internal Family Systems is a way to acknowledge the many different parts inhabiting ourselves–and listening and validating those parts rather than dismissing or exiling them.

Biz took time in the moment to acknowledge and comfort the part of her that felt insecure about answering questions about IFS. It slowed down our conversation and helped me to connect with the part of myself that feels pushed and would like to slow down too.

Biz also shared her racial justice journey, including times when her fear stopped her and how she keeps listening and learning.

We also talked about why she re-branded her podcast from Woman Worriers to Awaken your Wise Woman.

Finally Biz pulled a card from the Divine Abundance oracle deck by Tosha Silver--with the intention of supporting our listeners. She chose the Inner Child Card.

This card is all about being gentle and compassionate with one’s self.

Elizabeth Cush, LCPC, is a women's life coach, a licensed clinical professional counselor, and business owner in Annapolis, MD. She's also the host of the Awaken Your Wise Woman podcast. Biz has worked in the mental health field for over 18 years and is a certified clinical trauma professional. She incorporates the body, mindfulness, and meditation into her work.

As a life coach, she helps sensitive midlife women, who feel stressed and overwhelmed find balance, flow, and ease to fully enjoy the beautiful life they've created.

This is a lovely conversation and practice that will elevate your consciousness.

Dr. Elsbeth talk about feminine power and creativity.

Life force energy is the same as sexual energy.

Feeling the air on your skin is a subtle arousal.

You can spread that life force energy up to your heart and then your third eye so that it gets more and more refined before it becomes mind.

This will help you to shift your consciousness.

We do a special heart breathing exercise that is so simple but powerful.

I was tingling after that.

The importance of feeling anger and sadness and dialoguing with yourself about where they are coming from.

Then using that information to make a choice.

You don’t have to do a spiritual bypass. You can witness these difficult feelings without becoming those feeling states and lowering your vibration.

Elsbeth Meuth, Ed.D., was born and raised in Germany and holds a doctorate in education and a master’s degree in music. Her academic career includes associate professorships at Musikhochschule Nordrhein-Westfalen in Germany and Berklee School of Music in Boston as well a research fellowship at the University of Indiana, Indianapolis. She is an ontological design coach and a certified Tantra Yoga teacher. In her previous life as a management consultant at Business Design Associates, founded by Dr. Fernando Flores, she worked with clients in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

This episode brought me to tears twice! Which is a good thing because, as Dr. Sina tells us, the liver and tears and the drive to change go together!

So, all of my empathetic friends --go ahead and cry. Your liver will thank you!

Dr. Sina shares how her body got her attention and caused her to leave her medical career and a surgery residency with lots of debt and no clear path forward. But she trusted herself and went on to study Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which she loves, and now she is thriving.

Dr. Sina describes her first acupuncture appointment where she found herself crying for the first time in years--and how she came to see the need for healing her whole body, mind and spirit.

We also talk about the distinction of quitting a job or a profession but never quitting on yourself.

Sina gives us some good advice about eating and energy as we shift from winter into spring.

Learn why spring is the time of year of the Wood element in Traditional Chinese Medicine and what that means for you?

Why the Liver and the Gall bladder are so important as we transition into Spring.

Sina also recommends specific foods to support you as your body wakes up from the slowness of winter. (Green foods, radishes, sour citrus fruits, bitter greens, chicken)

She regularly teaches an online class called “R3set" online. Focus is resetting your relationship to food in 3 weeks. For more on her classes and services, go to http://chicagohealingcenter.com

This episode an invitation for Women of Purpose--

Women who have come to earth at this time to carry out important work that will elevate our perspectives and evolve our whole planet.

If you're like me, you might feel a little uncomfortable with that description.

You don't think you're more important than anyone else and you feel insecure when people call you powerful.

You know all too well your mistakes, your weaknesses, your fears and anxieties.

But, Queen, that just means you need a trusted space to share vulnerably and receive authentic feedback and suggestions.

And not just suggestions from other Women of Purpose but also from earth mama, nature, fungi, animal kin and your divine support team.

We are in an exciting time when things are falling apart and energies from younger generations, from the natural and celestial worlds are conspiring for our evolution.

Your dream, your vision, your deep pleasure, your gift, your energy are all needed.

But the problem is that this stuff gets in the way:

  • Self-Doubt and Self Criticism
  • Exhaustion from doing social justice out of obligation, guilt, and "should"
  • Loneliness
  • Not spending enough time connecting with nature and with yourself as part of nature

You know what I really want for you?

And for me?

I want courage, reassurance, partnership and fun.

I want help with pacing and not doing everything all at the same time.

I want to circulate money amongst us--paying generously for each other's gifts in such a way that everyone wins.

I want us to stop worrying about failing and stay focused on our personal definition of success.

We're not meant to do our thing alone--even introverts need to connect with others sometimes.

So, I invite you to step into your Greatness this spring.

Use the Spring Equinox as a doorway, a portal to be your unapologetic, growing, creative and powerful self.

Whether you call yourself a leader, a lifelong learner, a teacher, a queen or a woman of purpose--

I invite you to take the long weekend preceding the Equinox, when the sun is returning for longer days, to

  • Connect with nature's wisdom and compassion for you
  • Create new friendships with women across race and age who are also rooted in Love and Justice
  • Focus on your dream/your purpose and say yes to what it needs as a next step
  • Play and have Fun all along the way!
  • Please join me at our Spring Equinox Virtual Retreat!

Called "Dip your toe in the water," this retreat is all about Fun, Friendship, and Focus for Women of Purpose.

I recorded this introduction on Frederick Douglass’s birthday which happens to be Valentine’s Day. Please check out Frederick Douglass Suite; Black History Month 2023

In this episode, you get to hear Part One of the Chaconne Emancipated, a performance piece that interweaves Bach and African American spirituals with excerpts from Dr. King’s I Have a Dream speech and Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.

Did you know that Dr. King made that speech on the anniversary of Emancipation Proclamation at the Lincoln Memorial?

After hearing the performance, Michael Jamanis and I have a rich conversation with guest interviewer Rev. Rhetta Morgan about:

✅ Ego and the creation process

✅ How African American spirituals worked on Michael

✅ How I went from hating classical music to loving Bach

✅ How traditional classical music audiences resisted this performance but then we found a home in non-traditional spaces such as rallies, Black History Month programs, etc.

To continue the work of Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement, we need to be able to have authentic, heart-centered conversations with people of good will across the color line. Sometimes this is hard, but if you stay present and don’t over identify with your ego, anything is possible.

We are in the time of mid-winter. Imbolc and the time of the Snow Moon remind us to get ready for spring but spring is not yet here.

The full moon on Feb. 5th is almost here. Let me illuminate something for you.

Mid-Winter is time to rest.

Even though the days are getting a little longer, it’s not yet time to put your plants in the ground or start budding.

This episode reminds you to rest.

It consists of an introduction and then a fifteen-minute guided meditation with Michael Jamanis’s rich evocative soundtrack to help you slow down your mind and body.

So many of us think that we have to start the new year with a bang, but I don’t agree.

We are still in the deep of winter for many of us; it’s still a time when yin energy dominates. That is, it’s time to go slow, turn inward, sleep more and allow our energy to be restored. It’s not the time to “jump” into goals or launch new initiatives. It’s time to rest and clean or purify.

Unfortunately, the Protestant Work Ethic, extraction thinking, fear and capitalism all work together to make us feel guilty about resting. We might feel self-indulgent or privileged if we decline invitations to work or serve and instead choose rest.

Think about it.

How do you feel when you rest?

Do you hide that you are resting?

What words do you use to describe rest?

Lazy.

Idle.

Indulgent.

But rest isn’t something to save up for vacation; it’s part of the natural rhythm of each day and of the winter season.

If we ignore winter’s slow energy and keep going, we might find ourselves emotionally tapped out and with lower immunity. We may not have that energy burst when spring comes on the equinox.

We get depleted when we are out of sync with the seasons.

So,I invite you to listen to your Wise Self and find out if she needs rest.

Next month, I’ll have a special episode about “springing forward” and going after what you want.

March is a time to articulate your vision and manifest.

Next month, I invite you to gestate your vision and give yourself permission to focus on that which pleases you. I’ll be hosting a Micro-Retreat that includes creating a vision board and trusting your Wise Self. If you’d like to get the info, click on the link below to get on the waiting list for “The Gift of Presence Micro-Retreat.”

A self-declared, self-love activist, Jasmine Bellamy is a corporate Vice President who has made it her business to be a “student of love.”

In this conversation, Jasmine shares why she lives a “surrendered life” and how you can do it too.

1) No fear because I've nothing to lose. If I am [following God's will}, then I will be where I am meant to be. There is no wrong place to be.

2) If I feel a nudge, e.g., to reach out to someone, I do it. (Even if I don't even know why.)

3) I was intrigued by her description of being a "student of love" -- five years of reading, searching, observing.

As the leader of culture transformation at work, she says it’s important to come to the table with our hearts and questions rather than answers. Instead let’s find answers together.

Instead of making goals and plans, Jasmine says she lives a surrendered life.

She takes at least an hour each morning to be quiet and tune into where her life is leading her.

She says, “I trust myself.”

Jasmine’s Bio

Jasmine Bellamy is a love practitioner who is a catalyst for business and culture transformation. She is a visionary strategist and joyful disruptor at the intersection of faith, culture, and business. The scholar practitioner transforming workplace culture from the inside out was recently named Sports Illustrated’s Top 100 Influential Black Women in Sports.

Jasmine earned a BS in Marketing Management from Syracuse University, Master of Business Administration from Fordham University, and Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Seminary Her journey continues as she pursues a Doctorate in Global Leadership, Redemptive Imagination of the Marketplace, at Fuller Seminary in Fall 2023.

Imagine this.

I'm crying in a bathroom at work.

I barely made it out of the room where an almost all white creative team had just made racist assumptions about Black art and Black people.

Every time I think I can pull it together, I start crying again.

I'm trying to be silent but the sobs won't stop.

Finally, my Chinese American friend, Grace, comes in and refuses to leave without me.

We are going to walk through those doors together.

Grace and I do it.

We spend hours talking.

Eventually, I leave the company.

I was twenty-two years old.

Has this ever happened to you?

Have you ever been flooded by feelings and embarrassed or ashamed?

Have you ever wished that you could hold on to your words and your temper?

Over the three decades since that experience, I've developed a 5-step process that has transformed my conversations.

I share the 5 Steps during the episode.

If you’d like to delve deeper, check out my digital course Transform your Conversations about Racism.

To continue the work of Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement, we need to be able to to have authentic heart centered conversations with people of good will.

Kwanzaa is an African American sacred week created by Maulana Karenga in 1966. Its purpose is to have African Americans focus on seven principles which are foundations of a holistic and free life. In this final episode of 2022 Makeda and I focus on the fifth principle which is Nia or purpose.

We have a passionate conversation about waking up from delusions and living our life purpose with joy and courage.

We talk about:

  • My favorite part of Kwanzaa celebrations
  • How and why we celebrate Kwanzaa in our family
  • Why I am obsessed with life purpose and why you should be too
  • Can your life purpose vary as you enter different stages of life
  • What happens when raising kids feels at odds with your life purpose
  • The dangers of falling into delusion –any thoughts or narratives that take you away from your life purpose.
  • How it feels to live my life as a Queen and use that energy to drive my life purpose

Makeda and I both highly recommend Malidoma Some’s book the Healing Wisdom of African because it shows how to use ritual, nature and community to help you remember your life purpose.

Makeda suggests the ickigai method as a way to gain awareness of your vocation, mission, and career.

I suggest that you take a mini-retreat regularly to confirm your life purpose and to make sure that your life is aligned with fulfilling on it. If you'd like to hear what I'm planning, email me at amanda@dramandakemp.com

How to Create Planet Paradise on Earth; A Love and Light Meditation Led by Gabriel Anthony-Kemp

This episode features a replay of a live guided meditation led by my son Gabriel during a moment of high fear.

Do you remember where you were or how you felt when you learned about the police killing of George Floyd?

Almost one year after Floyd’s death, the officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty.

On the day of the verdict, my son Gabriel agreed to offer a live meditation for the Racial Justice from the Heart Community. I asked him to help us transmute fear.

He stunned us all by inviting us to hold a consciousness of Planet Paradise.

In a very skillful gentle weaving, Gabriel created stability and reminded us we are response-able.

You may notice that my voice sounds young and tired.

As I mentioned in Episode 007 Do Less; Do Differently; Heal the World, there was a point in my work where I was spent and to my amazement and gratitude my children stepped forward to lead. This was that moment!

At the end, you will hear the conversation from participants about the meditation, their feelings about the Derek Chauvin conviction, and more. In particular Deacon Eric Jackson, a Black leader from Harrisburg, PA offers insight and a rich voice.

This guided meditation goes very well with walking. I listened to it while I was exploring a park with redwoods and other beautiful plant friends in Berkeley, CA. Sitting amidst trees, pulling my fingers through the soil, I felt their lovingkindness towards me in my body.

But you could also listen to this while you drive, fix dinner, or simply sit.

This episode begins with a beautiful telling of the Deer Mother story by Amy Kietzman. This is a myth that appears in many Eurasian cultures and is a wonderful way to enter the solstice Season.

Michael Jamanis composed original music to accompany the story. Subscribe to his youtube channel for beautiful meditations like this one.

After the Deer Mother story, I share the vibration and intent of the Mother Tree Network Winter Solstice Micro-retreat. Even though registration is closed, I wanted you to give you a taste of what you can focus on for this solstice season.

I recorded the video after a deep meditation where I experienced myself inside the dark, safe, moist, living earth.

I got to this place by sending a cord from my root chakra which for women is at the cervix (who knew?) down into the earth to be with all the trees around me.

The themes of this winter solstice are:

Rest. Especially the mind.

Release. Any ideas, ideologies, beliefs, energies, relationships, etc that do not serve you

Root. Drop down into the mycorrhizal plane for knowledge, peace, and guidance through the winter season.

You can do this with only 15-20 minutes per day.

Hey, Beautiful One.
In honor of this December new moon, I'm publishing this interview with Dr. Isha Vela.

Isha is a psychologist who works with the physical body to release trauma and find your powerful unique self. We first met at Beyond Diversity 101 and subsequently co-facilitated a self-care boot camp for women of color.

In this episode we talk about

  • Noticing the abundance we live with all the time
  • Respecting your own boundaries first
  • Knowing your nervous system's capacity day to day or moment to moment
  • What to do when people withdraw or get mad at you for setting boundaries
  • Intimacy wounds and guilt or shame that we are not doing enough
  • How this applies to racial justice activism and advocacy for people of color and for white folx
  • Mercury in retrograde as a great time for emotional release

**Dr. Isha says "emotional fluencies are our capacity to be able to name what's happening in our bodies and also give ourselves permission to feel through it all the way… because when we hold [on to anger or grief], it becomes toxic to us."

[Trauma Alert: Short mention of childhood sexual abuse and incest]

**In honor of the November new moon, please enjoy this episode and use the new moon to set an intention.

I hope you will celebrate Native American Heritage and peoples during November. One great way is to spend time on Thanksgiving listening to Native voices and extending reciprocity to Native peoples and earth mama.**

In this joyful conversation Jennifer and I discuss:

Celebrating the passing of Indigenous People's Day in Baltimore and Philly

How she makes land and peoples acknowledgements personal

Reconnecting and staying in the body allows for synchronicities to find you

How giving a keynote as an ambassador of Turtle Island in South Africa with artists committed to social transformation stretched her

Jennifer’s secret to accomplishing a big thing is:

Aligning your emotions with your intentions; holding your intention with lightness; and keep swimming–taking action.

Jennifer tells the Turtle Island origin story, a version of which is held by many Native groups in North America as an example of someone small fulfilling on a huge task.

Finally, Jennifer shares how you can have generational trauma and still be light and joyful. We are all perfect.

In this interview Amanda and I discuss:

  • What’s Good about Fall and Rainbow Trees
  • How to integrate racial justice values into our families, especially with young children.

Amanda offers specific tips.

  • How you can only bring what you have to racial justice work and how she has increased her capacity over the last five years to go from freezing and appeasing to calling out racism.
  • How to help her children hold a Jewish identity in a Christian dominant culture.
  • How to go from an extremely hectic schedule with kids, building a business, and community racial justice work to taking time for stillness, quiet and contemplation.

Amanda took a gradual approach that helped her stick to it.

  • How Doing Less and Doing Meditation has enabled her to show up with more healing and Presence for her children, clients, and community.
  • How Amanda’s school district Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee works and why she felt it was important to do that work and let other things go.
  • How sometimes we use our fatigue and exhaustion as a badge of honor, as proof that we are good enough. But we are already good enough.

Amanda’s Bio:Amanda is a leadership development consultant, trainer and executive coach with over 20 years of experience in developing the effectiveness of social change leaders and organizations.

In this episode I complete the story of how I transformed my sacred work in the world.

I made three shifts:

  1. I let other people lead. I let go of the story that the work could not happen without me teaching or being physically present. I asked and then allowed my co-facilitators to lead Transform your Conversations about Racism, a live training which only happens once a year without me. Team members Erika Fitz and Kristen Mun did a fabulous job while I walked in my yard and garden–figuring out how to get “close to the ground and open to deep earth vibrations.
  2. I meditated more and nourished my spirit. My son Gabriel was an unexpected and amazing teacher.
  3. I set up a tent in my back yard and began to write journal notes to tree. But everything changed when I listened and then I started to record what they said back to me!

Do you remember the reese's peanut butter cup commercial where peanut butter bumped in to chocolate and --wow, something yummy was born?

Well, this sort of happened with Michael's home recording of Bach and my podcast about how terrifying it feels to put my woo-woo, fifth dimensional a*s out here.

Somehow Michael and I ended up blending our very vulnerable recordings and you get a weirdly beautiful elevated story!

“I’m enough now, yesterday, and forever.”--Joyce Washington

If you’ve ever been the first woman, the only Black, or person of color and advocated for more inclusion, have you wondered how you could open the door for others?

Well, Racial Justice and Community Advocate Joyce Washington has broken down barriers and made sure that though she was the first in her Fortune 100 company, she was not the last.

Embodying the principles of a Mother Tree, Joyce actively recruited, mentored, and protected women of all colors, Black men and others who were excluded by business as usual practices.

In this episode she breaks down her strategy for engaging power structures, her mindset regarding difference, and her practices for staying in the body.

Listen as Joyce shares her inspiring story which begins in rural segregated Tennessee where she and her sister “integrated” a southern white high school in the 1960s.

Joyce is one of those people who always leaves you feeling like you can do anything after you talk with her.

And she does it with LOVE.
