Nearly two thousand years old and ruled by the same family – more or less – for all that time, it has a history of strife, betrayals, false alliances, glorious triumphs, dazzling artistic achievements, humane advances, dark treachery, petty personal vendettas and extraordinary magical phenomena, all supported, encouraged and enabled by the vast riches that have come from the most prodigious Heavenfall in the history of the World Below.
