For the sixth episode of 2022 of "Inside the Co-taught Classroom", Kayce and Amanda look at how everything is finally coming together within the Language Arts classroom. The team is combining nonfiction and fiction text in order to practice previously taught skills in context.
For the fifth episode of 2022 of "Inside the Co-taught Classroom", Kayce and Amanda dive back into math. Over the past few weeks, the class has moved from integer concepts to inequalities. Kayce and Amanda talk about the progression and how they transitioned from previous learning to being able to master inequalities.

Kayce and Amanda discuss the steps being taken in order to improve the overall sentence structure students use when writing, as well as talk about how they are beginning to introduce the idea of “on demand” writing within the CERA short constructed responses.

Integers become an integral part of math within middle school and it is important to start with a solid foundation. Kayce and Amanda discuss how they help students really grasp that foundation by building off of the background knowledge many students did not know they had from integers out in the real world.

Diving into the Short Constructed Response
For the second episode of 2022 of “Inside the Co-taught Classroom”, Kayce and Amanda dive into the major writing focus of using the CERA approach to teaching short constructed responses within the 6th grade Langauge Arts classroom. Over time, both Kayce and Amanda have utilized a mixture of writing trials, specific feedback through a rubric, and a self reflection document in order to maximize student buy-in and ownership over writing.

Welcome to 2022! We all made it and as much as we wish we could say that school has settled back in, it just seems routine for things to be constantly changing. Our first episode of "Inside the Co-taught Classroom" once again focuses on who we are as educators, and provides some deeper insight into why we decided to continue with this podcast and blog.
For episode #3 of "Inside the Co-taught Classroom", Kayce helps Amanda dig into Language Arts from the past two weeks. Listen in to find out how the ideas of inferencing and characterization have been built in order to get ready to dig in and analyze the novel, Flush.
For episode 2 of "Inside the Co-taught Classroom", we put Kayce in the hot seat to bring us through what she has been teaching within 6th grade math over the past two weeks. She talks about the importance of understanding the vocabulary, especially when we are expecting our students to apply the content across different mathematical situations.
Our first episode of "Inside the Co-taught Classroom" focuses on who we are as educators, provides some insight into why we decided to begin this podcast, and just allows you to get to know a little bit about our teaching philosophies.
